Her Majesty? [KT]

Ship-in-the-Bay.jpg

San Francisco Waterfront, 1851

Time for an Empress? Or Something?

Well, yesterday we learned that Hillary Clinton believes that Donald Trump plans to stay in office forever, that she has secret information that Tulsi Gabbard and Jill Stein are Russian assets and that ten year olds are responsible for her election loss. For some reason, after I learned all this, Emperor Norton, who reigned for 20 years in San Francisco, popped into my head.

At age 41, three years after losing everything, Norton christened himself Emperor of the United States. When France's Napoleon III invaded Mexico in 1861, Norton added "Protector of Mexico" to his imperial title.

It's been about three years since Hillary lost the Big One. Is it time for a novel new occupation for her?

Emperor Norton's life history at the link above is interesting. The NPR-type progressive posturing is a little annoying, but perhaps Norton IS the ideal symbol of San Francisco in some ways.

Not much is known about Emperor Norton's early life, according to John Lumea, president of the Emperor's Bridge Campaign, which focuses on researching Norton's life and sharing it with the public.

Here's what we do know.

Emperor Norton was born Joshua Abraham Norton in 1818 to Jewish parents in present-day London. At age 2, he moved with his parents to South Africa, where his dad set up a successful ship supplies business.

After some reversals in fortune and after becoming Emperor by simply publishing a declaration in a newspaper, Norton lived an active life in San Francisco:

For lunch, Norton could go to almost any tavern in town and for the price of a drink, no more than 25 cents, get access to a full lunch spread of salmon, roast beef, tomatoes and more.

"He really makes himself part of the life of the city," Lumea says. "He goes to political meetings. He goes to the theater. He goes to the saloons. He makes himself a public presence. He's in the streets."

Could Hillary find a little waterfront somewhere to live a life kind of like this? Maybe with an ankle monitor? The local police could be ordered to salute her when she passed. Perhaps the mayor could order that people call her "your majesty" (or another preferred pronoun), on pain of a large fine. Preferred pronouns are important.

Emperor Norton sometimes sounded more rational than Hillary sounded yesterday. Not always, though.

Many of the "decrees" attributed to Norton I were fakes; written in jest by newspaper editors at the time for amusement, or for political purposes.

Fake news is not new!

Those "decrees" listed here were, we believe, actually issued by Norton.

A few of Norton's decrees:

  • July 16, 1860 - Decree from Norton I dissolved the United States of America.

  • October 1, 1860 - Decree from Norton I barred Congress from meeting in Washington, D.C.

  • August 12. 1869 - Decree from Norton I dissolved and abolished the Democratic and Republican parties because of party strife now existing within

  • December 16, 1869 - Decree by Norton I demanded that Sacramento clean its muddy streets and place gaslights on streets leading to the capitol.

  • March 23, 1872 - Decree by Norton I that a suspension bridge be built as soon as convenient between Oakland Point and Goat Island, and then on to San Francisco.

Best update on Hillary's interview yesterday?

This made the sidebar, too. Can you find a better one?

Evan McMullin believes Hillary. Tulsi Gabbard is working with the Russians.

Light Weekend Reading and Viewing

A few links I have saved from Powerline:

Punctuation

Scott Johnson was prompted to study punctuation when he read, for fun, an essay by Montaigne and learned that the original didn't even have paragraph separations. Here is the secret history of the exclamation point. And part 2.

Seems appropriate to the times. I think some people in Montaigne's day must have had powers of concentration superior to ours. The long sentences common in the 19th century can sometimes be a challenge to me. What would I do without paragraphs?

Climate

A 12-minute video by Tony Heller on junk climate science.

Steven Hayward's Green Weenies from the end of September. Heh.

Steven Hayward also reports that The Economist published a surprisingly good piece on the limitations of computer climate modeling.

Music

Libertango. Improvisation.

We have seen one of these sisters playing before. The other was turning pages.

Hope you have a good weekend!

Yes! this is the Thread before the Gardening Thread!

10 Even though I'm deeply upset about Trump's coarse language, don't bother me making a casual reference to lynching Democrats.

That's
totally different because while tweets are literally a hate crime, it's
common for committed Republicans like ourselves to may references to
hanging our political opponents like you-know-who.

I can say that here because we're sophisticated people, who don't use schoolyard taunts or anything.

I'd love to stick around, but as part of our continuing education my fire team is reading Kafka in the original German.

Based on the 16 results, he could conceivably flip NV, NH, ME and MN.

But he also won states by a razor thin margin.

To be consistent we must also say they could flip.

33 Trump won in 2016 despite being a political novice with no record, with 3 different campaign managers and half the resources Hillary had. He was also up against Obama's intel community as well as several foreign governments.

In 2020 he has a solid record of accomplishment including the best economy in 50 years, record low unemployment across the board, ending overseas wars and an enormous campaign war chest with a field organization that has been under construction since 2018. In Minnesota, he had one part time field staffer in 2016. He already has 20 full time staff in MN and is hiring more. And that's in a state he lost. Trump uses his rallies to not only pump up his supporters but as a very strategic tool to identify voters by state. It's a very sophisticated plan. And he has the power of incumbency behind him.

The Democrats are fielding a team that excites nobody. The DNC is desperately behind in the cash war and hasn't recovered from what Obama and Hillary did to screw it up. And starting very soon the drip drip drip of what they did in 2016 to try and screw Trump and his supporters will start to leak out and it will go right through next election.

Trump is getting ready for a serious schlonging.

The worst case was a ballet box with a tally sheet showing 300 votes for Hillary, but only 50 ballets inside. Only a RUSSIAN stooge would stop because of things like that. A real Hillary American would just dredge up a few hundred ballets and make up for it.

82 Trump SHOULD win in a big way. Some wild cards ... ONE: the social media and Google types could step up censorship and misinfo campaigns several levels above what we have currently. Shadow banning could be done in unprecedented fashion ... news feeds filled with better propaganda ... all in coordination with the MSM, maybe even elements of the FBI/CIA.

TWO: .. the markets ... we are running on unlimited government intervention and still with the incredibly low interest rates. A silent QE effort may be underway, and markets are vulnerable for many reasons. The decoupling from China dependence (cheap production of our digital toys and various crap) may get some hiccups ...

THREE: the unknown assault by very powerful oligarchs that can wag the dog from the perch in banking or CFR or some rogue state, the unknown event(s).

The main problem in the end is massive voter fraud by the Dims.

They always cheat but this time they will cheat everywhere and at every level.

I expect a kind Cloward-Piven Event of Cheating, where the system is simply overwhelmed and fails because of all the fraud everywhere.

So, Trump and his allies and the GOP(i know, I know) will need to be at the top aof their game and proactive.

The Democrat Party is now a Maoist party in design and in strategic planning.

They will want a wipeout victory taking both House of Congress and the Presidency, so they can instantly impose their horrible policies.

I'm guessing to do that they'll need upwards of 10% vote fraud in some areas.

Normally, that would be impossibly obvious, but they'll fight it in the courts.

I hope it is a Trump landslide. That's the only way he4 can get a clear uncontested win against these turds.

true, in conservative communities and blogs like AoS. But would that blowback penetrate to the broader low info public, when the normal communications don't cover it, and deny it? idk, probably. But imo they were sure Hillary would win, so they didn't use all their more criminal/aggressive tactics that could come to play if they think it might work ... the DeepState is facing existential threat (or so we like to believe).

hopefully you are right ... but Twitter has started censoring Trump already ... and many of their devices are secretive ... maybe someone shares a Trump thing with their 500 FB friends, only ten of them even see it. Interesting that you should use the term "car wash", since that is the Brazilian term for the investigation into long time money laundering of funds paid as kickbacks from Petrobras to various engineering firms , the primary is a Brazilian multinational called Odebrecht. It was one of the reason the Brazilian workers party lost in the polls, and ex president Lula da Silva wound up being convicted of accepting illegal pmts whatever they might be called.

The one that gets to me is Congresswoman Jackie Speier. She was one of Leo Ryan's staffers when the cultists ambushed his party as they were boarding the plane to fly out of Guyana the day before the massacre. She was shot 5 times, and laid on the tarmac bleeding for nearly 24 hours before any help arrived.

And after her fellow lefty cult commies slaughtered her lefty boss and lefty co-workers, and filled her lefty self with Kalashnikov rounds she STILL is a lefty true believer.

There's something seriously wrong with those people.

Well, besides having their own branch of Orthodoxy and that stuff with the Turks, they don't really end up on the radar.

Speaking of Stalin, his go to henchman was an Armenian-- guy named Simon TerPetrossian, aka "Kamo". Charismatic ladies man and absolute psychopath. After the Bolshies came to power he joined the secret police... Who soon fired him for being *too much* of a bloodthirsty maniac. Seriously, read Montfiore's "Young Stalin", you couldn't make this guy up.

He moved back home and started writing his memoirs in the early 1920s. Then one night, he was riding his bicycle home and was-- "accidentally"-- run over and killed by a truck.

Worth a try. However, my experience with Oilite type bushings has been that any re-lubing doesn't last long, and I've tried several motors and lubes. My theory is that the infused original lube becomes coked (for lack of a better term), and the bushings become resistant to any 'new' lube.

223 The day after the 72 election I had a major epiphany. I was reading in the rapid transit and two ambulance chasers sat behind me and started talking about the election results and one of them said he was encouraged by how many Massholes voted for McGovern. I just sighed, rolled my eyes and thought how delusional those assholes were and swore never to have anything to do with them. With God as my witness I never voted lib again.

226 I missed the kinda-discussion of Armenians, but actually spent a fair amount of time there in the immediate post-Soviet period. Interesting place. At that time, not much power [Azerbaijan was source of oil and gas - either actual source or pipeline passed through there], so cities were dark at night, kind of eerie, and water was "on" a few hours a day. Generally there in summer/fall, so missed the adventure of winter [elevations similar to Denver] without energy.

Armenia has long had a special tie to Russia, driven partly by being orthodox Christians with 2 borders with Islamic countries.

Current times, it's one "traditional friend" to the south - Turkey, one active/though sleepy and weak enemy to the east - Azerbaijan - and the crazy f***ing Georgians down the hill to the west [Christian, but nutso].

Also, Armenians were an elite minority in the Soviet system, generally not limited in their rise, even in the political system [Mikoyan], unlike many [Jooos].

229 opI think "asset" doesn't really capture things WRT McMuffin. In what way is he of any actual value to anyone? "Operative" or "tool" might be more on the mark.

But "deep state" much too often seems to be imagined as an organization, vs. what it is - a mix of mindset and self-interest, in key cases combined with a lack of public service ethics. At least it's often discussed that way, which is a bit dumbed-down/medieval villagers with torches, and not very accurate.

In Nixon's time, I recall even the press discussing his administration's fight with the "permanent government" - basically the same thing. This problem is not even remotely "new".

Not an academic issue. The problem of a pernicious mindset mixed with lack of public service mentality is not a question of 1 or 2 public figures [on either side], or of slogans, but a fundamental challenge to a truly open and free society.

233 As noted last night, Brexit drama indeed.

I still don't see how this ends well for the Remainers, or whatever you call those [including BoJo] willing to settle for a very flawed "deal". National sentiment appears to have *increased* Brexit support, according to surveys, and the logic of both UK and EU mechanisms leads to "clean Brexit" if nothing can be worked out.

A general election will resolve it all, and may no longer be avoidable. And it greatly favors creating a "clean-Brexit friendly" new parliamentary alignment.

my working theory is that there is a central power structure, CFR type coordination, biggest bankers at the top. They are not quite a"hail Hydra" institution, but like with gang warfare, they all have their turf, and a sort of code of silence, with common enemies being Trump and any like him that might be "white hat minded".

The names we hear routinely are the cutouts, pushed around by various special interests, to the point where Hillary can order a "resistance" and there will be many the feel compelled to serve the "DeepState", above God and country. But those ranks are filled with the corrupt, maybe some well-intentioned, but mostly just all part of the beltway self serving culture of fake "elitism", making them vulnerable.

But guys like Soros definitely coordinate their efforts with detailed planning/infiltration across many platforms (reporters, intelligence, politicians, foundations, board members in global companies like in Ukraine, etc.) Whether the top 80 old money families actually get together and plot the NWO? idk about that, they don't invite me, but it is not just random malfeasance in DC, there are billionaire puppeteers that prefer anonymity. imo

Posted by: illiniwek at October 19, 2019 02:23 PM (Cus5s)

235 Mindset, not "coordination" or puppet masters. And FFS, CFR has no power or influence, it has become [wasn't always, to this degree] a brain-dead keeper of the conventional wisdom flame in foreign policy, as well as a perch for out of power types, which it always was, and a career-climbing empty ritual [all the least interesting and able Beltway-mindset sorts clamored for junior membership back when I worked with them on the Hill].

But whatever, I give up.

Soros pulls strings, has plenty of people on his payroll, even if that payroll is "his foundation" (he is in charge, even if technically a charity). It is not just a mindset ... but the DC mindset that serves the open borders "oligarchs" enables Trump's prime directive (border control) to be blocked.

CFR, idk what they do exactly, but they sure pull in a lot of people from the families of our politicians. Maybe ThePower has gone to other places now, idk. Why would so many big names get together to discuss? wedding plans and yoga? Of course they have influence, even if it is not direct.

The globalist banks acted as one to get HSBC out of some criminal charges, even though our DoJ had them dead to rights. And the efforts to protect Hillary's crimes sure seems top down to me, as is the "we will stop him| and the insurance policy against Trump.

globalist banker cartel making sure HSBC is not criminally charged.
youtu.be/2gK3s5j7PgA?t=1332

Sure, there is a DC mindset that enables this ... there are certainly key players that take criminal action on behalf of others. The coup to frame Trump was coordinated, more than just a mindset. imo ... but I always want to hear what rhomboid has to say on subjects, from his inside view. But the inside view can be occluded as well, and the worst crooks seem like nice guys face to face.

256 As I've noted many times here, voting procedures/election integrity in many states would [laughably] fail to reach minimum standards used by the US, EU, and UN to assist/recognize "free and fair elections", world-wide.

That alone should be enough to move things towards common sense standards. But in a country with enough dumbed down voters, and utterly corrupt and alien "elite" actors, nothing is done [or even, amazingly, fought on the basis of "racism" by some of the dumbest and most loathsome idiots].

All you need to do to vote in Calif, is have a name (note even a valid one), and an address.

You can register on a little post card, send it in, and ask for mail in ballots.

You can then either mail it in, drop it off, OR, now give it to a 'vote harvester'.

In order to 'clean up' the voter rolls, Calif sent every registered voter a Post card, which said, please contact us if you are no longer living at this address, or have died.

Think about that bit of sophistry for a second.
