Page Six: Matt Lauer Used His Position To Pressure a "Well-Respected" News "Star" Into An "Affair"

Disgraced "Today" anchor Matt Lauer allegedly had an affair with a famed and well-respected broadcaster, Page Six is exclusively told, representing a "clear imbalance of power." The woman signed a nondisclosure agreement when she left NBC. We have agreed not to name the broadcaster at her request, but a TV source said: "Matt had influence over everyone’s career -- one word and your career would be sunk. I know there was a clear imbalance of power in this woman's relationship with Matt." In his new book, "Catch and Kill," Ronan Farrow also claims Lauer repeatedly harassed a fellow on-air NBC personality, who was allegedly forced to sign a strict NDA when she left the network in 2012. It's not clear if it's the same woman we've learned about.Beckett Adams writes that NBC's petri dish for rape culture may be worse than we ever suspected.

My guess - pure speculation, but so what! - is that Lauer pulled the strings to get her promoted after she gave in and started having an affair and when she broke it off he got her fired.
NBC probably had Curry scared about some breach of contract violation and offered to pay her $$ and not sue over the BoK if she signed the NDA, which probably says she that if she breaches, has to pay back the money with interest and that she would be liable for NBC's attorney's fees.

As we saw with Weinstein, he had enough oppo research* on NBC (and how many other media execs?) AND his victims in order to prevent stories getting out, lawsuits, arrest.

The more we learn about Lauer and Weinstein, the more complicated it seems. Apparently Lauer knew he had the protection of his bosses, and had a reputation of getting women who did not give in fired/harmed their career after leaving. This is what Weinstein did, too. He destroyed the career of women who refused him.
That is ugly. Yes, the women had the option of saying no and switching career. But that is also exactly the type of situation sexual harassment laws were written to prevent. No one should have to choose between sex with their boss or career (unless you're are porn star, etc.).
