Solidarity, Y'All: How Socialists Are Targeting Trump Country
(Bloomberg) -- America's socialists reckon they're on a roll. Next stop: Trump country. The movement has long been confined to the fringes in U.S. politics, and also on the map. It's associated nowadays with hipster enclaves of the West Coast, or New York -- where the country's most famous socialists are teaming up on Saturday, when Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will endorse Bernie Sanders for president at a rally. But now it's spreading across the Rust Belt, Midwest and South. At least 60 branches of the Democratic Socialists of America, the most prominent among a bunch of reinvigorated leftist groups -- have sprung up in the the past year, mostly in conservative areas where President Donald Trump did well with voters. This is so typical of the leftist crap that is pushed out every day by Bloomberg. Just flat out pro-commie. Y'all. ____________ It's Greek, and the Nestor in Greek mythology was the son of the king of Pylos and the grandson of Poseidon. Hispanics also use the name for boys, it's supposed to mean "wise" in Spanish. I don't know who picked it, but it was probably somebody trying to be "multicultural" and "inclusive." Truly one of the nastiest beers I ever consumed, like drinking carbonated barley cough syrup. Still yet, some people would swear it tasted fantastic and was such a sophisticated taste. The new thing is doing a Dopamine Fast ... putting the electronics away to stop the body from getting addicted to a need for some notification of a text or email or YouTube new video. Ace has posted about the dopamine addiction being part of BigTech's marketing plan ... specifically Facebook, iirc. Others are saying the only escape is to stop carrying the SmartPhone ... or whatever version of phone people use that tracks them and then feeds them notifications based on where they are and what they are talking about. To survive the summer heat, Qatar not only air-conditions its soccer stadiums, but also the outdoors - in markets, along sidewalks, even at outdoor malls so people can window shop with a cool breeze. "If you turn off air conditioners, it will be unbearable. You cannot function effectively," says Yousef al-Horr, founder of the Gulf Organization for Research and Development.
Yet outdoor air conditioning is part of a vicious cycle. Carbon emissions create global warming, which creates the desire for air conditioning, which creates the need for burning fuels that emit more carbon dioxide. In Qatar, total cooling capacity is expected to nearly double from 2016 to 2030, according to the International District Cooling and Heating Conference. And it's going to get hotter. - Can't win for losing. Posted by: Anonosaurus Wrecks, Tyrannosaur Wrangler at October 19, 2019 09:29 AM (+y/Ru) 100

During his struggles, the lace bonnet had slipped over his face, obscuring his view of the room. He could hear, though, and he heard the old bed squeak as she hiked a foot up next to his thigh. I really hope the Beast gets in the race. She would tear the party apart right now. You've got the Soviet Spice Girls endorsing Comrade Bernie but he'll bow out for another dacha. Squaw Liz might step aside but only if she's made an offer she can't refuse. Biden will do what he's told. Hell he might not even be aware that he's running for president. The rest are barely showing up in the polls. But if she did that a lot of the base would either sit home or maybe run third party. Things got a little out of hand in the beginning of October and a small group of protesters committed some horrendous acts of malicious damage. It cost the protesters a lot of public support as we all had to finad alternate ways to get to work as many MTR stations, including mine in Tseung Kwan O, remained closed for days. The town is under a sort of curfew as the MTR is now being shut down around 10:00PM. Oh well - the only solution I have is the time honored one for all ex-pats: alcohol. Its been pretty quiet with only some minor protest activity. We shall see if this starts to peter off - it may I think. Lots of people were pissed. If those numbers hold up (and even if, as some gloomy Gus above suggested, all of the 12% new voters are "new" because they just reached voting age - that would still be amazing) then Trump wins in a walk. Posted by: Kindltot .......... yes. the EC is your friend. Trump lost California by 4 million votes.. But Cali still only gets its alloted number of EC votes. But if 100,000 simply don't vote in PA,WI,MI next time around, it goes to batshit crazy Warren or thumbsucker Joe.. For some people, the alternative is not enough of a motivator to hold their nose and vote for him again. And I'm not talking military, necessarily.. I believe in traditional conservatism, freedom and individual liberty. That the modern Democratic Party is partially the reason rope and trees were invented. Ditto people like Kristol, French and others, whose betrayal and dishonesty are almost indescribable. I believe in malo periculosam libertatem quam quietam servitutem, so I would never vote for the tyrants that Democrats and their fellow have become. I just happen to disagree with the execution and methods (not necessarily the goals) of our presidents foreign policy because in the end I don't believe it places our country and citizens in a better, less dangerous place on the world. By the way, hope I am wrong. I honestly do because, unless the president adjusts, we are going to watch this play out.
Anyway, I felt that was a reasoned argument and it was owed to you out of respect. I'm not sure why it was treated with ridicule and juvenile school yard taunts and assignation of motive. British lawmakers have voted to postpone a decision on whether to back a Brexit deal with the European Union, throwing a wrench into government plans to leave the bloc at the end of this month. At a special session of Parliament intended to ratify the deal, lawmakers instead voted 322-306 to withhold their approval until legislation to implement the agreement has been passed. We'd just gotten out of a tough firefight - I can't say where, of course - but I'm sure you can guess the AOR. (That's military jargon, because I'm career mil guy. E, not O.) Anyways, to see the tears in the eyes of this solid NCO broke my heart. We're losing these people because TRUMP CAN'T SHUT UP. Why won't you people see that? The CFA I sometimes stop at is always packed; but going there is like a quick lesson in efficiency. They'll send out order takers with bluetooths for the drive-thru, and then add a separate pay collector when its very busy. Their indoor service is very quick too. I went to a different CFA once and was shocked at the normal FF franchise service speed, it was so slow by comparison.

Even though I'm deeply upset about Trump's coarse language, don't bother me making a casual reference to lynching Democrats.
That's totally different because while tweets are literally a hate crime, it's common for committed Republicans like ourselves to may references to hanging our political opponents like you-know-who. I can say that here because we're sophisticated people, who don't use schoolyard taunts or anything. Sorry but win or lose or draw, this is NOT a foreign policy election, and Trump's not trying to fight it as one.
Though if he wants to make it one in a hurry, he could always expand American military commitments. That would do the trick. Which is why the Uniparty is so strident and eager to get him to. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at October 19, 2019 11:42 AM (5aX2M) 370
One more reminder..
Trump won the presidency by only 100,000 votes spread over 3 states. Think about that. -------------------------------------------------------------------- This is correct, but but he did this despite the "omg pussy-gate" being still non stop in the news cycle. There was a pool of never-trumpers based on that and I'm guessing in the 3 years since, about half of those have converted to Trump acceptance in some form or another. (based on trends of %R support increasing from election to now) The rest are bitter clingers Trump has changed the Overton window significantly. But there are other factors. Cankles was a horrible candidate and I think whoever wins the D nomination will inevitably have a higher likability than her, resulting in more D vote consolidation. Which leaves the independents, of whom, if they voted for Trump based on his campaign platform would have no reason to not vote again, as I can't recall a candidate religiously going through with their promises no matter how many "Sacred Cows" they'd have to slaughter(unlimited free trade, COC cheap labor supply, IC shakeups etc) and boats than need rocking. Also Independents who voted for Cankles as a status quo type who wasn't going fundamentally full on embrace socialism like the current crop of candidates, will either switch votes or not vote at all. And of course 3rd party candidates like Gary Johnson and/or the Green party candidate(Jill Something) had the effect of the sub 50% majority wins in those states. Will this dynamic be similar in 2020? Who knows? I'm not one who thinks Trump has this in the bag (of course I hope he wins in a landslide). i still think the electorate as a whole is a wildcard and as much as I wish it were not the case, the MSM will still have some influence (depleted as it is) Posted by: theATL at October 19, 2019 11:42 AM (yFgwo) Posted by: R.
