The Morning Report - 10/9/19

dancipp.jpg

Good morning kids. Midweek, and a blessed Yom Kippur to our Jewish friends. In the lead this morning is the GOP, with notable exceptions, finally standing behind the President, who essentially told Schiff-for-Brains, Palsi Pelosi and the rest of the filthy, thieving traitors in the Democrat-Left-Media Complex to take their phony-baloney kabuki-bukkake "impeachment" scam and shove it. Of course, the latter still think they are soooper-gee-nee-us in cornering the President into committing obstruction of justice, but this too will blow up in their faces like the patented Loony Toons trick cigar with the stick of TNT in it. I mean, they're moving ahead with their grand strategery as if the President did what they expected them to do and not release the transcript of the phone call with Ukraine president Zelensky. So with the "whistleblower" blown, what did they do? Got a second "whistleblower" who allegedly was the horse's mouth that the first "whistleblower" heard the hearsay from. And even this individual (if he/she really exists) did not actually hear the call either. Again, it's totally irrelevant since the transcript has been released.

First, Kurt Volker, who served up until late last month as a special envoy to Ukraine, was called and instead of serving up what the Dems wanted, he essentially dumped an Arctic Ocean full of ice water on their charges. No matter. The Dems then went after Gordon Sondland, the US ambassador to the European Union, and Trump put his foot down. In a blistering letter to the Democrats, White House Counsel Pat Cippolone stated:

"...Given that your inquiry lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the Executive Branch cannot be expected to participate in it..."

The whole thing is a complete sham. Subpoenaing individuals, for the purposes of "impeachment" is illegal and unconstitutional since there has yet to be a floor vote in the House to officially move the process forward. The Democrats are banking on the American people not knowing this, but I can guarantee you that this President, like he has done every damn day since he came down that escalator at Trump Tower is going to give them an education. The Dem strategy now is to continue the sham as long as possible and attempt to peel away a few squish RINOs in the House and perhaps Mittelschmerz and Collins in the Senate so they can claim "bipartisanship!" I don't think even that is going to fly. Cocaine Mitch has flat out slammed the Dems for this banana republic bullshit. Good for him.

The Democrats once again screwed themselves over by completely refusing to understand Trump, expecting Trump to play by their rules like every other Republican or conservative that they took down in the past. Again, the only person that can defeat Trump is Trump himself. The more he sees what DC and the Left are all about, the more he learns, and crucially, the harder he fights back.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

NOTE: The opinions expressed in some links may or may not reflect my own. I include them because of their relevance to the discussion of a particular issue.

8 Good Morning Morons; today is Wednesday, October 9, 2019. On this day in 1635 Roger Williams was banished from the Massachusetts Bay Colony after religious disagreements. He went on to found the Colony/State of Rhode Island. This further illustrates one myth that is pervasive and taught in schools is that the colonies were largely settled by people who believe in 'religious freedom'. They were founded by colonists who wanted 'their' religion and no other. He also founded the first Baptist Church. On to JJ's links

34 Trump is going to have his ass handed to him on Syria. The Turks have already crossed into Tal Abyad and Ras al-yan. They already have artillery trained on the Kurdish positions. The Turkish VP has declared the SDF "terrorists" who are oppressing the people of Syria. Troop buses were seen massing infantry on the border. Apparently there is also some coordination going on with the Russians to ensure they hem in the Kurds for the Turks invasion force. The SDF has also said the 12,000 or so ISIS fighters and families they hold are planning to break out because once the invasion starts, most SDF personnel will move to the fight.

California penalized the electric company over lines causing sparks in high winds, so the power is getting shut down regardless of customers.

49 That Ellen sat in a box seat with GWB is considered a sign of humanity.

Notice who is cited as magnanimous in their humanity - the Sodomite, not the former two-term POTUS.

The Left screams how intolerant their enemies are, the Left constantly announce their desire to see their opponents prison raped, tortured and murdered; they invent hate-crime hoaxes. Never once has 'W' said anything negative about Ellen the Degenerate, but she has often publicly said evil and hate filled things about him.

Yet she is the one showing grace and mercy.

Impeachment went from a constant rumble in the background to the most important thing on earth overnight.

And it was the whistleblower? It was the Ukraine call?

After Mueller, it seems odd, to say the least, that Democrats would latch onto that so blindly as an impeachment vehicle so suddenly.

The thing is, the FISA IG report started going around to those mentioned in the report at the same time. They were offered the report in order to respond to it (it's standard practice), and then all of a sudden impeachment isn't just something the Squad screams about and everyone else occasionally grumbles about. Suddenly every major Democrat is screaming about it.

That's...curious.

100 This further illustrates one myth that is pervasive and taught in
schools is that the colonies were largely settled by people who believe
in 'religious freedom'. They were founded by colonists who wanted
'their' religion and no other.

I take issue with your point. I think you are mixing up the Puritans of Massachusetts Bay with Colonists elsewhere in the new country, and you're point falls apart when you look at places other than Massachusetts and Connecticut. You refer to "the colonies" and "they", plural, and you are wrong to ascribe these views outside of Puritan areas of New England.

Religious freedom meant, to the Puritans, the right to celebrate their own religion without persecution. They were not particularly tolerant of other religions, as you say. But there is a huge difference between the Massachusetts Bay Puritans and almost all other colonists, most of whom were not Puritans and most of whom believed in much broader versions of religious freedom. Other than Connecticut, Puritanism didn't spread very far, and the other colonies were dominated by other Christian religions. So you're wrong on the history, I think.

Taking a step further ahead, to the revolutionary period, we can talk about Jefferson (whose beliefs on this issue animated the founders), it
meant true freedom of choice. He embodied that view in his authorship
of the Virginia Statute For Religious Freedom, passed in January 1786. That statute guaranteed total religious freedom to Virginians and no established religion in the Commonwealth.

Posted by: dagny at October 09, 2019 08:05 AM (nRWPy)

I
get that many Italian-Americans support this holiday for cultural
reasons. I think that is mainly a North East city thing but I could be wrong
about that. Regardless, I support it. Italian-Americans should be
proud. It is cool that people are proud of that history, no doubt
there.

But in my
interpretation, the holiday has a bigger meaning. This holiday is about
the celebration of the America that resulted from Columbus's
discovery. So many try to bash Columbus the man and miss the point of
the celebration. No one is celebrating wrongs that happen when cultures
collide and one side wins out. It is a celebration of something that
led to the greatest nation and force for good the world has ever seen.

This
is why those that championing x, y, or z who they claim "discovered"
the New World before Columbus annoy me. They are missing the the
point. They can't see the forest for the trees. It doesn't matter if
some other guy was first. What matters is that Columbus brought the New
World to the attention of the Old World. That is it, that is the whole
shebang. It was what resulted from his discovery. Maybe someone else
did come first, but that person did not change the world.

You
see these people today bashing Columbus Day. They won't even say the
name of the holiday. Some are impudent enough to call it Indigenous
People's Day. Funny, they only care about natives on Columbus Day. Why
don't they campaign for a new holiday that stands on its own? .

I
am all for a day celebrating native Americans. But be for real about
it, celebrate them. Don't give me this lefty crap about pretending to
care when you don't. The left hates Columbus Day for the same reasons
they hate Independence Day, Flag Day, and others. What they lament is
us.

I gave a lengthy answer precisely because I was including the colonial period and the revolutionary period, and I tried to make that clear. You were wrong on the colonial period, when only the Puritans tried to exclude people on the basis of religion, and even that for not very long a time. The entire rest of the colonies were a different case. That was where you went wrong. Then, in revolutionary America, Jefferson went much, much further, and his broad views on religious freedom took root everywhere. The schools used to teach these concepts well. Don't know if they still do.

211 I saw a remark yesterday about the Syrian situation, that encapsulated the "outrage" well: One of the great errors of the last 50 or 60 years has been the complete abdication of Congress in regards to its Constitutional duty to declare war and fund (or not fund) military adventures. Over that time, Congress has completely abdicates all of its duties and responsibilities, allowing all of the Presidents to have an unlimited ability to wage war anywhere, based only on their own personal decisions.

And now we've come to the point that one of the possible "justifications" for impeachment is that a President is refusing to continue to wage a war that was never declared, never authorized, and never funded. Amazing.

True, but within the LDS Church, there is a strain of belief (I know whereof I speak) that the POTUS is a position chosen by God as His instrument. Which is where I think it drives Mittens crazy that an "obscene child" like Trump should be selected and not himself.

Romney speaks of "the mantle of the presidency," which is again language heavy with religious import. The Mantle of Elijah is a heap big deal in LDS teachings.

bland politically neutral statements about the whole situation. It's
funny how quickly they drop the wokeness when Chinese money is at stake.

I rather doubt it - simply because these two don't represent the entire House of Representatives in and of themselves - denying a vote in the House on an impeachment inquiry is the same as denying GA or FL or SC and other red states and purple districts, whose representatives they sent to Congress, a chance to have a say in it - denying an Intel Committee vote on impeachment inquiry is similar to this, as well.

These districts might lose as the majority holds sway, but they deserve to have their say in what the House pursues.

The LAPD doesn't want you as an officer if you're a conservative, but it's fine if you're still an active member of a violent street gang.

"The Los Angeles Police Department has opened an inquiry after a recruitment ad went up on the right-wing website Breitbart, saying such a job listing would conflict with the departments "core values."

Remember:

"The FBI is investigating a secret society of tattooed deputies in East Los Angeles as well as similar gang-like groups elsewhere within the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, multiple people familiar with the inquiry said."

Read the article. It's amazing, especially the part where the sheriff over the gang members said it was no big deal. Just a "cultural norm."

Not only that, she never would have dared sit next to Bush while he was still in office. It's only safe a decade after he was no longer president, and the left has a new target at which to point their rage.

Ellen's a total fraud.

353 This is why those that championing x, y, or z who they claim "discovered" the New World before Columbus annoy me. They are missing the the
point. They can't see the forest for the trees. It doesn't matter if some other guy was first. What matters is that Columbus brought the New
World to the attention of the Old World. That is it, that is the whole shebang. It was what resulted from his discovery. Maybe someone else
did come first, but that person did not change the world.

You see these people today bashing Columbus Day. They won't even say the name of the holiday. Some are impudent enough to call it Indigenous
People's Day. Funny, they only care about natives on Columbus Day. Why don't they campaign for a new holiday that stands on its own? .

I am all for a day celebrating native Americans. But be for real about it, celebrate them. Don't give me this lefty crap about pretending to care when you don't. The left hates Columbus Day for the same reasons they hate Independence Day, Flag Day, and others. What they lament is us.

Posted by: Quint at October 09, 2019 08:32 AM (n13/j)

Wait a minute. What "indigenous peoples"? The so-called "Indians", a la Fauxcahontas? They are no more "indigenous" to this continent that our ancestors were. They just came over sooner (by about 25,000 years), across the land bridge from Asia which existed back then. Also, there is some circumstantial evidence that SOMEONE was living on this continent BEFORE the so-called "native Americans" showed up. What happened to them? Nothing good, I'm sure.

And when you get down to it, Columbus was the one to truly discover the Americas, no one else. Sure, the Vikings showed up here (as far south as Newfoundland, anyway) a few hundred years before, but they didn't stick around. They ended up going back home.

And there is some circumstantial evidence that at some point in the past some Polynesians and possibly some Chinese or Japanese made it to these shores in the remote past. But again, there was no follow up. They came, they saw, and then went home or died out. That was it.

And then there is the "big picture", which these suckers of zombie Howard Zinn cock don't get (amazing how little history historians nowadays know). Throughout human history there have been mass migrations. Large numbers of humans moving from one place, usually motivated by war, disease, famine or overcrowding, to another, generally to a region that was sparsely populated, if at all. And if it was populated, one side would win out over the other, the side that was the most driven, organized and motivated. It has been ever thus, regardless of race, creed, color or hat size. And make no mistake. Had the "natives" been able to get organized and work together, they could have easily driven the Europeans back into the sea. But they didn't; they were too busy killing, raping and enslaving each other to get their shit together, as it were, and so the Europeans moved right in.

As an aside, when I was 15 I dated a girl named Eva, who was full blooded Cherokee, not like that lying twat Warren. She was the real deal. And for someone whose people were supposed to have been "genocided", she seems pretty damned frisky to me. (Had really cute dimples too...

They can spout what they want about "Columbus didn't discover America". Bullshit. Yes he did, because no matter who might have accidentally washed ashore here 500 or a thousand years before, Columbus was the ONLY one to went back and told the world, "Look what I found", and followed up with colonization, again, as had been going on ever since we climbed down out of the trees. So yet again, the socialists are lying, as usual. LOLGF...

Yes. Some people might keep their kids at home. And traffic is going to be a mess. How many people know what to do at a traffic light without power? it becomes a 4 way and that can be terrifying at a major intersection.

Can the authorities provide enough generators to keep that disruption to a minimum? do the lights have a generator connection to allow them to be used?

The only way they'll be able to provide meals is if they're the sort that can be prepared without cooking. Lunch rooms with gas stoves should be able to provide hot meals. Anything that requires refrigeration will have to be delivered daily.
