Just received a telephone call from a prefix where I registered my SS. The call said they were getting ready to press charges.
Scam right? I think so too. However I am going to be on hold (waiting) with their office to confirm there is no problem.
Another thing, their main answer message states that if I want to
report a suspected scam call this #_ _ _. However they fail to provide
the extension and the call will not be received unless you know the
proper extension #.

I've been getting a lot of SS scam calls. I don't answer calls from unknown numbers, but they've been having machines leave voice mail saying that if I don't respond my Social Security Number will be cancelled.
Enough people must fall for it for it to be worth scamming.

I'm just not seeing a pattern of this. I know of one case and it was in the weeds on abortion providers and medicaid for other services. I disagreed with Kavanaugh but I'm not sure that should define him.

In fact the FBI DID investigate - they found out the name of the woman, who told them she did not want to be interviewed and that she had no memory of any such thing. They tried to find out if there was anyone else who would say they saw this - there was no one. They even wanted to interview Max Stier - but he suddenly said no, he didn't want to make any official statements, and he flat out refused to say anything about it under oath.
So after that, what was left to follow up? Run ads in the paper asking if anyone remember a weird story from 36 years ago???

The script goes, if they think they have a live one on the line, the local LE (county sheriff, etc.) is on their way to arrest you. They get that info from the local LE website, and spoof that number, too, with a second caller, having the same foreign accent, and invoking the name of the elected sheriff, as if that guy is going to take time out to call you personally.

It would take an act of Congress to expand it.
You're not talking about getting 51 Democratic senators to sign off on justices 10-15. You're talking about both chambers passing the same legislation, probably 51 Democratic senators undoing the filibuster and then passing the law, and then the president signing the law all before the first nominee.
That's a long battle that will take months to play out, and I do not think that Democrats have the kind of mandate for that no matter what happens in 2020. Red state and purple state Dems won't sign onto it.

AND Kavanaugh was part of the Whitewater Prosecution Team, fighting against him. AND Stier knew Kavanaugh from Yale. AND he always HATED Kavanaugh personally, from College days, and from the Whitewater Prosecution days.
And so surprise, surprise, when Kavanaugh gets way more famous than he ever could, he comes up with a little "story" to take him down a peg. You know what the biggest "tell" here is? Stier is a lawyer, and when the FBI called him up to ask about his story, he flat out refused to say anything at all to them under oath. Likewise, when these reporters showed up, he refused to meet with them or talk to them in any way. Hmm, kinda sounds like a guy who's worried he might be legally liable for spreading malicious lies, doesn't it?

I've been getting a new scam email. They include my password and say they know it and they installed a keylogger on my computer and could also turn on my webcam and they recorded me " enjoying" some videos and I need to send them money or else they'll send it to my contacts. The thing is, I know they are my passwords. I just don't remember the last time I actually used them for anything. Probably been at least 5 years since I used them, on computers that didn't have webcams. I think maybe they were my AOL instant messenger passwords but like I said it's been a long time.

I got one of those calls once (except for the sheriff part). Some Pakistani-sounding guy said that my SS number had been suspended because 19 bank accounts had been opened in my name, and funded with crime proceeds (or something like that, I don't recall the whole spiel), and that an arrest warrant had been issued for me, and that the local police (and he mispronounced the name of my town) would be executing the warrant any day now.
I asked him what agency had issued the warrant. He said "what?" I said: "What agency issued the warrant?" He stammered and then said: "the government issued it." lol, Then I asked "The federal government or the state government?" and he says "the federal" so then I asked him why the local police would be executing a federal arrest warrant, and then he got mad (I think he heard me laughing) and said "do you want to get arrested?" and I said "sure, bring it on" and hung up.
But if you get one of those calls and you're concerned, you can always check the status of your SS on the government's SS website. They also have a section devoted to the scams, and this one about the fraudulent bank accounts and the local arrest warrant is apparently a favorite of the scammers.
