The tragedy is that you could buy just about anything [then you'd have to get it out, of course]. I recall the lines of An-2 biplanes at an airport in Georgia. Obviously not in much use lately, but decent condition. Probably could have bought them for a few $K, no questions asked.
Damn oil people were into Baku early and got all the amazing rug deals, but they were still a decent buy into the late 9Os.

On one trip to Nicaragua, my nephew and I hired a boat in Grenada, and went looking for a Russian hydrofoil ferry that plied the big lake back in the '80's. There was a sort of a ship graveyard in a bay on the lake beyond the Isletas de Grenada (which are amazing iin their own right, and not to be missed if you go there). Never found the hydrofoil, but there was a battered ferryboat, and an old schooner that used to belong to Anastasio Somoza. I have pictures.

Joe Biden Comes Out Against Heller Ruling - The Individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms

During a town hall style interview with WMUR 9 Friday, former Vice President and 2020 Democrat Presidential Candidate Joe Biden came out against the Supreme Court's ruling on District of Columbia v. Heller.
"Do you agree with the DC vs Heller decision in regards to protecting the individual right to bear arms that are in common use and which are utilized for lawful purposes?" Biden was asked.
"The answer is," Biden said. "If I were on the Court I wouldn't make the same ruling. Okay?"
The Heller ruling, which was decided 5-4, confirmed the individual right to keep and bear arms is protected by the Second Amendment.

He did a great "30 for 30" -- back when I still subscribed to Netflix and still patronized ESPN called "Once Brothers" -- that was really sad. He and fellow NBA player Drazen Petrovic were great friends from Yugoslavia until was broke out between Divac's Serbia and Petrovic's Croatia, after which they never spoke to one another -- even when on the basketball court together.
Petrovic tragically died a couple years later in a car accident.

I read a story here the other day about Talladega's $50 million revamp
and how cutting edge it is. I'm no expert on the sports business, but I
don't have to be one to know they're going to lose their asses.
The Daytona track did that a few years ago. They reduced the number of seats. I guess they got tired of all the traffic, which I got stuck in more than once until I finally figured out how to get out and onto I-4 the back way.

Friday night, we dine in Hell. Literally. We'll be at the Hell Saloon in Hell, Michigan for dinner around 6:30-ish. After dinner, we'll return to the cabin campsite built on the cursed ancient Indian burial ground just down the road from the state prison for the criminally insane for ukulele practice.
During the day on Saturday, we'll be hanging out at the cabin, whittling entire trees into toothpicks & just generally relaxing. The roundtable discussion topic this year is "IKEA Shelving: Threat or Menace?", followed by small unit tactics practice.
Saturday evening we'll go in to town for diner at the BBQ joint around 4:30; after which we'll return to the campsite for a large thermal event & pants-less dancing to the finest ukulele band in all the land.
If you have a sense of adventure & questionable judgement, there are a limited number of berths still available in the bunk-house style cabin. Let us know if you plan on over-nighting on site.

Couple of things I noticed, the first being that instead of squealing in fear and calling authorities, these guys were laughing their asses off and filming it. I haven't seen any reporting on who they are working for or even if they are related. Still, the reporting from Canada today said there were other investigations going on in 5 Eyes countries.
China is all over Australia, business and politics and the guy in Canada is an east Asia expert and he speaks Mandarin so wouldn't surprise me.
