The Debate As Seen on Twitter

Blotto O'Rourke set the standard for racial arson when he got drunk and plowed his car into America's fragile racial peace:

But Democrats tried to match his level of race-scapegoating demagoguery. Mayor Pete, or "Alcaide Pete," as Jorge Ramos insisted on calling him, suggested that we need to implement even more racial preferences and quotas:

Gay candidate, I mean black candidate, Cory Booker wasn't going to be out-demagogued:

Mayor Pete wants to "pay teachers like we do doctors." Also, he wants to give them the respect we give to soldiers. (Why don't we give soldiers what we pay teachers? Nevermind.)

All of the Democrats agree, we have to pay teachers huge piles of money, and that's not because teachers are a reliable Democrat constituency or anything. No, they're just that wonderful!

Kamala Harris' debate strategy -- was just to cough up a series of memorized canned Twitter Snark Attacks on Trump as the answer to any question posed to her -- was so obvious and transparent (and weak) that even leftwingers were smart enough to see it:

Robert Francis "Blotto" O'Rourke said "Hell yeah we're going to take away your guns!"

No, seriously, he said that. And the place went wild.

CNN was almost crying with joy out of their pee-pee holes:

I know everyone's shocked to see Super-Conservative Ultra-Republican Max Boot getting all steamy in the inseam over a hard-left socialist.

Elizabeth Warren picked up a lot of support from the crucial Democrat category of sad and lonely women:

Joe Biden instructed black people to "play the phonograph" at night so that their kids can learn English or something:

There were, sadly, no casualties, but Joe Biden had a Wardrobe Malfunction with his teeth:

OK, hold them to the same academic undergrad standards, same graduate school standards, make them pass board exams, be accepted to an intern/residency program for 3-7 years where they have to work on average 80 hours a week for comparative peanuts, after which they have to pass absurdly expensive specialty board exams, and state licensing requirements, then work 60+hours a week and be able to be sued for malpractice every time little Snotly doesn't learn how to add by grade 2, then we can talk about paying them the same.

Right now - lowest academic standards of all undergrads, and work <9 months a year, no accountabilty for outcome. Yeah, hard pass.

If someone wants to accuse me of racism they better use a specific example that they themselves experienced or shut up, because accusing people of racism because of their voting for Trump is just a repeat of Hill's line about deplorables. Why do they think it's going to work better this time around?

You bet it would be more welcoming! I would eliminate ICE, blow up all the border walls, and announce to the world that American welcomes everybody, and nobody who comes here will ever have to pay for their housing, food, medical care, education for their kids, or anything else, because rich Americans (which means any American with a dollar to his name or a job) are more than happy to sign their paychecks over to the government to fund more freebies for all the moochers to want to live here!

Maybe it has something to do with the propagandists on the left telling black people that every white person is bad, has privilege and is the reason for injustice (however they define it as it's fluid) Many black people aren't buying their shit anymore. Some are realizing the dems never gave two shits about them but used them (to their detriment) this Trump and his followers are racist crap does not jibe with the reality they see on the ground. That being said, there are sadly still some black folks that find it way to convenient to put all the bad characteristics the left, media etc. project on white people.

I for one don't see the retirements as a big deal at all. First, some of them (like Will Hurd in Texas) are never Trumping pieces of shit that should be gone even if it does let a D take over the seat. (what's the difference?) Others are just guys who've gotten old and realize they're not like RBG, it isn't their Life Goal to stay in that chair until they drop over dead. If it's a good district, then find a good replacement.

The House is a useless waste of time for everyone who's in it these days, even Democrats. It accomplishes nothing, I don't see why any decent person would want to be part of it, unless they're a glutton for punishment.

275 IIRC, the biggest recipient of Obama's TARP was teachers and public schools. That's after GW Bush increased public school funding by 40% (or was it 60%?) - it was a lot - with his No Child Left Behind.

Bottom line: If teachers aren't paid enough at this point then we need to evaluate where all that federal money went. I'm guessing that like the Pentagon with their pricy hammers, public schools have bought a lot of $1200 fax machines and whatnot (wink, wink). Oh, and reduce administration staff by half, and for the ones who remain, compare their salaries/salary growth to that of the teachers in their district.

No more money - make them make the hard decisions and corruption clean-up required to find that better pay with their existing budgets.

324 Sure, who wouldn't want a doctor's income for working a job that doesn't require any weekends, where you're home by 4:00 p.m. every day, and you get summers off?

And at least one extra day off a month for "in service" and other special days. Plus every federal holiday off, and no emergency calls.

325 True. But Dallas is lost (almost?). San Antonio is well on its way. Geographically it'll be red. But population wise, urban areas will soon control Texas politics.
Posted by: Our Country is Screwed at September 13, 2019 12:36 PM (N39Ws)

The population growth is in the suburbs, not the city core, so that's where the contest will take place. And for 20 years now Texas Dems keep shooting themselves in the feet by only nominating people who can win in the radical core, like the gay lesbian mexican who ran against Abbott last time.

Conservatives here tend not to like John Cornyn for a variety of reasons, but just watch, next year he's going to be re-elected with 60% of the vote, just like Abbott got. Why so much more than Cruz? Because Cornyn is a likable guy and Cruz pisses people off, and about 10% of the population will swing their votes based on that factor alone, nothing else.

The truth is school funding has skyrocketed in the last few decades, but most of that money goes into the pockets of an ever-increasing administration staffing. When I went to high school, we had 1 principal and one vice principal.

The demographic change will occur even if we close the border, unless we promptly enforced an e-verify rule, and ended anchor baby insanity. But even with that, we can and should win the brown and black demographic. imo that IS possible, and the Dems are wrong to assume those people will always go along with being pawns of their dirty mafia.

HOW to penetrate the bubble ... we are doing it to some degree, exposing these crazed leftists, bringing jobs back, listening to the people's demand for border control. Civics will need to be included in schools, because only blanket control of education has allowed the KrazyKommieKore doctrine to blind the student body.

The internet and free classes on America's founding (I think Hillsdale or someone already offers much of that) could quickly make the blind to see again, and the left's shackles would be removed. There is some hope .... Google wants to kill it, but they must be stopped.

Exactly.

For example, if Bill de Blasio's wife can "lose" $850 million in 2 years on some mental health initiative, then the city can afford to pay teachers more, they just chose not to. They chose to not spend that $850 million on all sorts of vital city services/expenditures. They don't get to then whine they need more taxpayer or federal money to afford those vital services.

But that is only the state's portion, the cities and counties that make up our school districts spend at least a third of their budgets on education, that's not counting the feds. And yet EVERY year, literally they come with sob stories. Look, being a teacher is a noble profession, I am sure it's not easy. But stop your constant panhandling and whining.

Also California, Vermont, New York and Connecticut gun owners doing about the same on the various registrations and banned items.

The government KNOWS gun control is a hard sell as is.

This is why the Red Flags are so popular with Gov't because they can do the confiscations incrementally and under the cover of law. If they can keep their confiscations quiet so they don't get a lot of air time they will continue and do more.

Watch and see. And woe be if they manage to pass either Toomey's bill or Graham's Red Flag bill. And if Trump signs it we'll be in a fight before 2020 and hard at it after. As we will not vote for Trump. We won't vote for a Democrat cause it won't matter but we will know we had no choice.

We're not even remotely close. I'd be somewhat surprised if we ever meet again, given that his mother, my late wife, was our only connection. But I do think he is a good teacher.

473 Shelter Psychosis vs a regular job

A regular job requires constant interaction with coworkers a teacher checks in then goes to his classroom over which he has dominion.

Teachers have very little interaction with coworker relative to other jobs. There is a certain personality that seeks that.

479 The sad fact of the matter is that teachers - primary education teachers, in particular - are already paid far more than their work product indicates. We have, by far, the highest per-pupil expenses for education in the entire freaking world and our kids are dumber and dumber every year.

--

In our local district, the teachers must have complained about having to do lunchroom monitor duty. So, the district decided it was a good idea to hire people to just come in at lunch and keep an eye on the kids so the teachers can eat in peace. I suppose rotation of that duty, as it's always been, isn't good enough anymore. Now we have to hire outside people just to come in for lunch.

It's not the teachers' fault alone - the whole school system is fucked off.

But, the fact is, all children aside from the profoundly retarded are teachable. Even the mildly retarded could be taught to a higher level than what most (non-wealthy) school systems accomplish, on the same or less money.

I'm great at teaching kids stuff, and I like it, and I would never take a job in public schools, because I've got the brains to teach.

While I kind of believe the Dems think they can win with this insane bullshit, they also are laying the groundwork for permanent demonization of whites and the United States as founded. 538 Our local elementary school our kids were going to was pretty light on the leftist pap. Heck they still let the kids call it Christmas!!!! GASP! Then the principal (super guy BTW) retired and the new gal was lefty McLeftiziod. It got horrible. Midway through the year. My wife and I bit the bullet, cu where we could etc. and put them both into a private Baptist school. Best money we ever spent. The part that grinds me is that I still get to pay all those tax dollars for these liberal shits to indoctrinate the others and then whine for more. Eff those people.

540 Bingo. I see an ear gauge and know your mother is a dumb slut. It says nothing to me about your "edginess," it says to me that your mother has major issues and some sort of problem either psychologically or with substances.

544 I dunno. The NC-9 CD special election victory was an eye-opener for me. The district was redrawn to incorporate more minority districts (and this was done by court order). Then there was the MSM-screeched story about a GOP operative who played fast and loose with absentee ballots, which resulted in another court order for a special election. The election this week resulted in a greater margin of victory for the Republican candidate, who spent the last few weeks tying himself to the President 100%. And the increased margin of votes came from the new minority-heavy rural districts with registered Dems outnumbering Republicans almost 3-1. Yeah, that hasn't got much MSM play outside of NC. I'd recommend that the President avoid signing a "Red Flag" gun law. It would hurt him with new voters who, at the moment, can't wait to vote for him.

547 507 My local free rag that they throw on the driveway every week talked about the recent public student test scores and interviewed in glowing terms the county ed superintendent and how great it was that the 8th graders passing score increased 1% to a 37% passing rate. 37% could meet the standard in math and this idiot was proud.
Posted by: Guy Mohawk at September 13, 2019 01:15 PM (r+sAi)

That used to happen in California re the HS exit exam, which was administered in the sophomore year (to give nitwits several more shots on goal if they flunked the first time). It was set at 10th grade level in English and 8th grade level in math. There are whole school districts that struggle to produce anyone who can pass this (trivially easy, per my kids) test.

So California did away with it, thereby solving an embarrassing problem.

The teachers/schools are a yuuuuge part of that cultural problem. You're right, insofar as the fact that if everyone had parents like mine (and apparently you, as well), they'd stand in the gap and prevent the corrosion of intellect.

But that's PREVENTATIVE. Failing a proactive approach on the part of parents to counteract the garbage given to kids in the schools, all that remains for education is the low-grade insanity in the school systems.

And that turns kids into vile, ignorant little fucks.

555 It's not the teachers' fault alone - the whole school system is fucked off.

But, the fact is, all children aside from the profoundly retarded are teachable. Even the mildly retarded could be taught to a higher level than what most (non-wealthy) school systems accomplish, on the same or less money.

Once upon a time primary education was a profession populated by women dedicated to the idea that their responsibility was to cram as much knowledge and awareness of civic responsibility into their students heads as possible.

Thus helping them to be good citizens, a positive member of the community, and good providers for their family.

Today, it's a job.

556 It's not the teachers fault.
It's not the students fault.

It's the whole culture. The administration top heavy school system. The everyone gets a trophy helicopter family, the broken home, the poor support for education at home.

The devolution of our national culture toward responsibility over the last fifty years has devolved from steel to pudding.

563 If we "pay teachers like doctors," it will become a very competitive field. Why get a degree in Chemical Engineering and get a job paying $100,000/year, when you could get a degree in education and make $400,000/year?

Of course, everyone's property taxes would have to double.

567 I think what you composed made a bunch of sense. However,
what about this? suppose you added a little content?

I am not saying your content is not good., but suppose you added a title that makes people desire more?
I mean The Debate As Seen on Twitter is a little vanilla.

You might glance at Yahoo's home page and note how they write post
headlines to grab people interested. You might try adding a video or a related
pic or two to get readers excited about everything've written. In my opinion, it would
make your posts a little livelier.
