Oh My: Ben Penn, The Bloomberg "Reporter" Who Proudly Smeared a Man as an Anti-Semite Just Because He's a Republican, Outed as Having Made a Watermelon Joke About Black People

Let's everyone send this to Bloomberg and demand comment.

In 2013, Penn tweeted that a Popeye’s-themed birthday cake made for a black man was not racist unless watermelon was featured as a side.

Cancel this f***'s ass.

By the way-- You can't pull the wool over AllahPundit's beta soy-eyes. He knows who's really to blame for this -- Trump, obviously.

By the way, completely unrelated, but here's Orson Welles discussing Woody Allen.

Posted by: bonhomm

Actually, it goes much deeper than that. Watermelon, as a plant, is native to Africa -- only botanists know this bit of trivia. The slaves who arrived in North American recognized it as one of the few foodstuffs familiar to them. So it became a treasured, beloved favorite, since it was a rare reminder of the homeland. This love for watermelon was then passed on to later generations who were born here.

1. Nothing will be done to Penn because Cancel Culture flows one way.

2. It is so totally OK to vilify white, straight makes that the only means to counter-attack is if the hypocrite said or wrote something horrible about a preferred victim.

Something positive would be if the DOL supervisor who fired Olson got shitcanned but that ain't happening, either.

Violence may be the only answer left.

He thinks its a good negotiating scheme, and maybe it is, in areas other than politics. In politics, whenever Trump signals he might do _____, then backs down, the backing down is attributed to a hated group like the NRA, and a boost is given to the left's moral superiority when it comes to legislation. That is HIGHLY destructive. Not good politics, and frankly we are going to pay a huge price for it down the road.

I have no idea, but being on the outside looking in, this whole affair looks like in-fighting among the nevertrump factions, both inside and outside the Administration.

The so-called journalists are fighting each other, and I don't think there's a lot of sincerity in their public pronouncements. Like there's an "inside" story that's not being reported. Something us little people aren't allowed to know.

But the people inside the bubble, they all know, and they're being cryptic about it.

My guess is, the guy did something else (some "sin," whether many of us would view it as a good or bad thing is beside the point), and they won't talk about whatever that is, so we're left with this bullshit story about some joke tweets.

177 I've never made a good decision, or performed a task well, by tapping into any emotion other than anger. I've always done those things using logic and sometimes determination that stems from a slow-burn hate.

And I believe what Tommy Franks said about emotions. They're something to be put away, until if and when you can afford them.

Emotions should be listened to, but reason must rule them.
Posted by: Cato, Collectivism Delenda Est at September 04, 2019 12:32 PM (5hMDu)

The case for stoicism is pretty strong, and it goes like this (needless to say, this is an oversimplification):

Emotions are what people do when they impose expectations on others, and since the actions of others are beyond our control, it's best if we can stow (pun intended) the emotions, and instead respond with whatever actions of our own that we can, that will get us the best possible result in any given situation.

So it's really not about not having emotions, it's about recognizing them for what they are, and then having a mechanism in place to deal with them properly, so they don't get in the way.

It's an extraordinarily healthy approach to life, and it gets falsely labeled as not HAVING emotions... which is silly.

But the latest court filing contends even if Smollett did make a false report, there is no way the city can assert he would have known the city would investigate - and investigate it to the extent cops did.

"We contend the city is wrong," Quinlan said of the city's assertion that Smollett should have known the city would spend nearly 2,000 hours investigating. " . . . The mere fact somebody filed a police report doesn'\t presume the investigation will be done and certainly not to the extent of what the city is claiming.

"Smollett has no control over that," Quinlan added.

I don't know what she'll wind up doing, but as I said on another thread, I think Cruz could win something by coming at her from compassion. She's a sad, screwed-up, self-hating creature who deliberately provokes hatred all around her. She shaved her head to make herself less attractive. She's probably never experienced compassion up close.

I don't mean Cruz should go gentle on her or let her get away with anything, but if he addresses her as the damaged soul she is, he might at least change her mind about what/who conservatives are.

SF Board of Supervisors declare National Rifle Association a domestic terrorist organization
https://t.co/NKrG4iloYX

Later in the resolution, which the board passed unanimously, the NRA is blamed for causing gun violence. "The National Rifle Association musters its considerable wealth and organizational strength to promote gun ownership and incite gun owners to acts of violence," the resolution reads.

The resolution also claims that the NRA "spreads propaganda," "promotes extremist positions," and has "through its advocacy has armed those individuals who would and have committed acts of terrorism."

In addition to calling the NRA a domestic terrorist organization, the Board of Supervisors called on the city and county of San Francisco to "take every reasonable step to limit...entities who do business with the City and County of San Francisco from doing business" with the NRA.

Then Queen of the Stupid arrives:

Wow, are they dredging the past! They are suing over McConnell refusing to hold hearings for Merrick Garland. (btw, this is a good example of why the courts stretch things out and make them take forever; some cases become so stupid and dated with the passage of time that they're not even worth pushing anymore)

The Judge will fiddle around, and go through the motions, but the final ruling is guaranteed: Under the Constitution, the Senate sets its own rules and it's own procedures, and neither the President nor the Judiciary has the Constitutional power to tell the Senate how to conduct it's own business. Case dismissed, non-justiciable question.

The celebration and meal menu are put together by what would be on any other campus the Black Student Union. A friend of mine went to West Point and got to escort his Congressperson - one Rep.
