"I'd like to expand a bit on my Be of Good Cheer post from over the weekend. It was mainly photos, but I wanted to encourage you all and give you what I think are good reasons why we should all be of good cheer. "The first reason I mentioned was: 'we are winning.' I am confident of this because of a number of things I have observed. The first is the number of progressives who have gone from openly attacking Trump to openly attacking Trump supporters. The attacks usually go something like this: "Trump is a racist, a white supremacist, and a despicable human being. And if you intend to vote for him, then so are you." This is not the well-considered argument of a reasonable person. This is desperation. This is panic. You can smell the flop sweat. They're not going to win over potential voters by screeching at them. What they're trying to do, I guess, is to shame you into not voting for Trump. But that's not going to work. Because Trump voters are not going to not vote for him, they'll just keep their heads down, not say much, maintain a low profile, and then vote for him on election day when they're far, far away from the progressives and their ceaseless hectoring about how deplorable they are. They only result is that the polls will be thrown off due to the undercounted Trump who are tired of being called names. "And speaking of polls, I don't care much about them, particularly not this far out, but here's one that caught my eye: it seems that, according to Newsweak magazine, Trump, Obama Approval Ratings Are Exact Same 922 Days Into Respective Presidencies. Now that's very interesting. Even after obsequiously kissing Obama's butt throughout his presidency, propping him up, running interference for him, his approval rating is the same as a president they've been doing everything in their power to destroy. And it's simply not working. It must've given that Newsweak staff writer painful bowel spasms to have to write that headline. "As I said, everything the progressives are doing to destroy Trump simply isn't working. This is why their cries of 'white supremacy' have reached Nazgul shriek levels of intensity. This is why they will not let go of that "fine people on both sides" hoax narrative, even though it's been thoroughly debunked. This is why Elizabeth Warren suddenly brought back the 'hands up, don't shoot' hoax narrative and accused the police of shooting Michael Brown in the back for no reason. The progressives and their media enablers are throwing handful after handful of spaghetti at the wall, hoping something will stick. "I also said 'Trump is expanding his base.' I used these words specifically because I overheard Andrew Klavan on a podcast claim that Trump was not bringing in any new voters. Now I like Klavan a lot and he's done a lot of good work, but in this case, I think he needs to open his eyes and take a look around. Look at those photos I posted: Blacks for Trump. Latinos for Trump. Women for Trump. Jews for Trump. *Democrats* for Trump. I never used to see things like this with previous Republican candidates. And don't forget the #WalkAway Campaign, started by a former liberal, that's encouraging Democrats who are fed up with their batsh*t crazy party to exit. I have never seen anything like that before. And naturally, MSM coverage of #WalkAway has been minimal. If it been a bunch of disaffected Republicans, we'd be hearing about them 24/7. "During the 2016 election, there were few, if any, positive reasons to vote for Trump. He was an unknown quantity with suspect views, maybe liberal, who really knows? I voted for him for negative reasons, only because the alternative, Hillary, was worse. But that was then. Now I think there are positive reasons for voting for Trump, and I think there's ample evidence, contra Klavan, that many other voters think so, too. "I would like to say we don't need to worry, Trump's got this. But that would be foolish. The election is 16 months out and many things could happen. I don't think the Democrats cheated all that much in 2016 because they thought Hlllary had it in the bag. But for this election, they're going to ramp up their cheat machines to plaid and The GOP is not only going to have to win, but they're going to have to win above the margin of cheat. So there is that. But the more the progressives shriek about white supremacy, the more their 20 midget imbeciles strut and preen their idiocy in the national spotlight, the more Sleepy Joe slowly morphs into Snarlin Joe, the more the Axis of She-vil pushes their party farther and farther left, the more optimistic I get. So, seriously, be of good cheer. I know I am." (There was some discussion in the Saturday thread concerning where 'be of good cheer' came from, and while Hans Grüber was correctly identified, he wasn't the first to say it. The exhortation appears several times in the New Testament, a couple of times by St. Paul, but most often by Jesus. The verse I had in mind was John 16:33b: "In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.")

I'll have to find the source, but a former NFL player recently mentioned that after a distressing visit to Baltimore he asked Trump to do something about Rep. Cummings.
Pair that with Trump responding to requests from Ali Alexander, CJ Pearson and Kanye to do something about that hiphop guy arrested under sketchy circumstances in Sweden.
I think Trump *is* winning over people with his results. People who do not like him may still not like him when they vote in 2020, but they may realize that regardless of his personality, he gets stuff done, and for all people, and particularly people who have been used and taken for granted by the Left/Democrats for decades.

I have a question about the movie thread, which I didn't read at the time. The film discussed talks about "Confucian monks". What was that about? Was it some special Korean thing? Confucians, at least the ones in China, didn't have monks or monasteries. They kind of resemble Cicero, in putting the life of statesmanship above the life of the contemplative. Taoists and Buddhists did that.

He claims that when he met Jeffrey Epstein he was scared, claims he is not a financier and that some "thing" set him up to look like one.
Given some of the other stuff of read about Epstein it's starting to sound that he had some very deep and powerful connection, way beyond his association with Clinton and some of the other known creeps he associated with.

I find it inconceivable that a person who'd been apparently successfully extorting very powerful people for decades wouldn't have something arranged to ensure the information came out in the event of his untimely passing.
I think he came to the conclusion that all his powerful friends weren't going to save him. He would really live the rest of his life in prison. That with their lawyers and connections, they'd probably avoid his fate. I.E. any favor that would get called in would be to save themselves, not him.

If you were Epstein, how exactly would you MAKE a suitable Dead Man Switch ? Who would you release the evidence to, as a sort of mutual assured destruction ? Not the media - they wouldn't run it. They'd happily destroy it. The FBI ? I don't think so, they're most likely in on it. CIA ? Ditto - not likely.
Trump ? If you trust him, why not cut a deal and turn evidence ? Unless you don't trust him because you don't trust who's around him.
I think Epstein was screwed and he knew it. He could have all the evidence in the world - and nobody important enough to save his ass would care.
And if Epstein was just the front man for something bigger - why would they ever let him get his hands on any kind of evidence in the first place ? I wouldn't.

Because Trump voters are not going to not vote for him, they'll just keep their heads down, not say much, maintain a low profile, and then vote for him on election day when they're far, far away from the progressives and their ceaseless hectoring about how deplorable they are. They only result is that the polls will be thrown off due to the undercounted Trump who are tired of being called names.
I think they've already come to the conclusion that they're going to have a VERY difficult time defeating the Golden Scalp Weasel in the election. Even with all the voter fraud they intend to commit.

My position is that the people most likely influenced by that thinking were Clinton voters in 2016. Not that they are diehard liberals, but that it's the same kind of mushy thinking that led people to thinking that Trump was going to personally grab their pussies if he was elected president.
Add onto the fact that Trump has a record (peace abroad and wealth at home), and I just see diminishing returns from these sorts of outbursts.

Yes, very, very few.
As OM notes above, for many of us who voted for the man in '16, our expectations were low - I had been a Cruz guy, and Joe Mannix was pushing me toward the Trump Train, but I only boarded once it ran over Ted. I figured he'd suck pretty bad.
Trump immediately met and then grossly exceeded my expectations. This time (failing some red flag bullshit), I will vote for Trump with enthusiasm. I expect most of the skeptical voters he had will see it the same way.

The only way they have to do that is via the MFM. At least 50% of the people don't trust the MFM. In fact, the people that don't trust the media now believe their narrative is a complete fabrication, so they are unaffected by them. If anything, they dig in even harder. If Trump still has around a 50% approval rating in biased polls at the end of this year, he'll win.

I need vermin advice.
I think there are carpet beetles/larvae got into my storage unit and
there is no explanation for their sudden presence except transfer from
some other unit.
I'm worried about brining eggs home on items stored (nothing is
there for them to eat except one chair, which wasn't infested when it
went in there a year ago.
What do I do?
So my son graduated college in Williamsburg, va and his summer
sublet lease is up in a few days. I went to move light wooden furniture
that belongs to me from his apartment into the climate-controlled
storage unit I have kept down there for about a year dor convenience's
sake.
It's always been clean as a whistle heretofore, but this day there
were horrible dead larvae all over the floor and in the crevices. I'm
thinking they are carpet beetle larvae though they were rather large.
There is one upholstered wing chair in the unit, but it's been there
since the unit was rented, and it has no signs of direct infestation.
There is one pair of rubber boots with a fake fleece lining, otherwise
no clothing or soft furnishings, all kitchen gear is in sealed plastic
containers.
A bag of cleaning supplies (giant blue IKEA bag) I took out a couple
weeks ago had been on the floor but there is no sign of bugs in it. (I
made a panicky search of it because it's in my sons apartment now)
So this is new in the last couple of weeks.
I saw a few sporadic larvae in the hall right near my unit, dead.
Most of the stuff in there is light furniture, rolly carts, boxed
gear, a clean dehumidifier (stored, not being used) a *very* clean mini
fridge in its box and one box with papers I just put in there.

People change their mind all the time. If they didn't every election the incumbent would get the same amount of votes as the last time.
Out of 65M who voted for Trump, some will change their mind. Even if it's 0.2%, that's 130K people, more than enough to make a difference in a few swing states.

I think that, as always, the Left is working this from many angles.
They need to get a massive lead for the Dem candidate in the popular vote, such as via illegals and felons voting, to get the electoral votes of states who will use the overall popular vote to assign them (provded this isn't successfully challenged).
They need to target swing states/states where Trump won by a little.
They also need to polarize supporting Trump to both decrease Trump's popular vote totals as well as to prep the battlefield should Trump challenge the results of 2020. A greater difference makes any fraud look less suspicious.
I'm sure there are other schemes I haven't thought to list here.
There is no one method for the Dems to steal an election - they cover a lot of bases just to be sure.

That's been obvious for a very long time, but the media's insistence on using Twitter just amplifies the noise.
There still isn't a prominent Democrat actually trying to spurn the far left and appeal to the centrist voters of the party, the ones who will vote in the Michigan, Alabama, Tennessee, and Arizona primaries (among others). Tulsi Gabbard is relatively close, but she's still anti-gun pretty generally.
Biden could have walked to the nomination had he just been moderate Uncle Joe who says silly things some times. Yeah, he's still leading, but I really don't think it'll last. He's giving people, with every passing day, reasons to not vote for him. The grabbing of the girl after she asks how many genders isn't going to win him any centrist votes and it'll just turn off far left voters, at least enough to shift their support to someone like Warren.

Trump has made a habit of damning people with faint praise, and his famous quote about Epstein was something like "he's like me in that he loves beautiful women... likes 'em a bit young though."
Which, if you understand Trumpspeak, it about as obvious a statement as could be made about the guy. But no, the idiots want to choose to believe this was some sort of evidence that Trump was buddies with the guy.

I was talking to a few Mcombcounty union people recently. Macomb county went for Trump in 2016 in spite of having voted dem for years. According to them, everybody they know who voted for Trump will vote for Trump again. The people who did not vote for a candidate in 2016, however, will now feel confident voting for Trump. A lot of them in 2016 only voted for Trump because they did not want Hillary! Anecdotal for sure but interesting.
