I once asked ace that if he ever wanted to compliment me publicly to just say "you were all great, you know who you are".
Well I didn't ask him, as such. Not in those words. Not in any words really. I communicated it to him telepathically with my mindthoughts. And I knew that he received my message because that same day he referred to this place as having "great commenters" and had only started posting around 1pm. Wink wink, nudge nudge. It was a long time ago but I'm glad he remembered. You're all great too, ace. Playboy is a good example of something that's outlived any excuse it had for existing by 20 years already. And I see the same thing happening there that I see with most newspapers and other media outlets - they don't make money. They don't even have a chance to make money. So, all of the people who know how to run things and are focused are making money are abandoning them, both in the workforce and in the ownership.
So , who steps in? Idealogues who have always dreamed of owning a megaphone, no matter the cost. The ones that have billionaires behind them can go on as long as that billionaire is entertained by their actions, like CNN. On the other hand, outfits that are owned by a billionaire who gets sick of them collapse overnight - like The Weekly Standard. All they are is playthings for non-serious people burning other people's money. Posted by: Tom Servo at August 09, 2019 09:20 PM (V2Yro) 51

And the reason I moved to working from home full time was the powers that be decided that it would be a good idea to move all of the PM's that are all men between the ages of 45-55 and the PC's that are 75 pct women between the ages of 23-33 into the same open work area.
I shit you not, within a week of this arrangement there was a mass email from HR saying sexual harassment and inappropriate conversations were a zero tolerance firing offense. I said fuck this bullshit, I'm out. Told my boss that unless otherwise required, I'll be on a job site or working from home. He said he understood. 162 Now that I'm working full time out of my home office, I decided to splurge on a new guitar, I got a Taylor GS mini.
Man, is that one heck of a nice travel guitar. --- I just traded in a Martin OM for a Taylor 414CE. What a difference. The Taylor is so much easier to play. And sounds great plugged in. Not wanting to start any Taylor vs. Martin wars or anything. Posted by: Pete Seria at August 09, 2019 09:53 PM (7ZQe3) 231

They are also woke pride homos. I just did not find that particular action objectionable.
Fair enough. The one near Casa Backwardio royally screwed up the last meal I ordered from them after a long streak of hits. Don't know why but they managed to burn everything I ordered. That on top of their wokenessism means they lost me as a good customer. And it's tough to boycott everybody on that list, but I'll do my best. As mentioned upthread, it's easier when you don't have money. Posted by: BackwardsBoy - #PurgeProgressivism at August 09, 2019 09:55 PM (HaL55) 235

Taylor's and Martins are both great guitars. The difference between the two that I have found is that Taylor's sound good right out of the box and Martin's take about 5 years to sound good, especially any Martin made of Rose Wood or Koa. Posted by: Diogenes at August 09, 2019 09:22 PM (axyOa) Interesting production, from a student's point of view that actually tries to be truthful to actual events. The poc's and some of their white followers are simply crazy. Reminds me of reading history books about how they burned witches. The prof Brett Weinstein actually tries to be civil and meet them halfway, with a lot more respect than they deserve. I am aware that the prof later quit Evergreen and has a lawsuit against them. Hope he gets paid. Bigly. If this is what the new Democrat party is all about, CW 2.0 is inevitable. Posted by: LeftCoast Dawg at August 09, 2019 10:35 PM (sy5kK) 279
