The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“I’m positive that most of my early adventures investigating what it meant to be a girl were heavily influenced by misogynistic culture. Hell, I’m also positive that many of the ways I continue to be “sexy” are heavily influenced by misogyny. But it feels good to me, and it’s my damn choice, right? Isn’t that what feminism is about—choice?” Emily Ratajkowski

Quote II

“To me, it’s not logical that they’ve done this. What about (the immigrants’ families? They have to make a living, they have kids. Right?” Lian said in Mandarin. “They didn’t do anything bad, they just want to make money, raise their kids.”Jun Lian

Quote III

Those who favor unrestricted immigration care nothing for the people. They are simply desirous of flooding the country with unskilled as well as skilled labor of other lands for the purpose of breaking down American [living] standards … Those who believe in unrestricted immigration want this country Chinaized. Samuel Gompers

When the Koch Brothers are in bed with Richard Trumpka swapping spit, it's not a happy ending for America.

Quote IV

“I left the Soviet Union to escape communism, socialism, Marxism — whatever you want to call it,” she recalled. “America was and still is the only place in the world you are truly free, and you are losing it. Now the evil is coming here; it is all around us, especially where I live in California. These people are ignorant, they have no historical knowledge, and they are very dangerous. The ideology is seductive to America’s naive youth and always ends up with people dead.” Svetlana (last name withheld)

Quote V

But in the end, like it or not, we’re heading for the age of the de facto “urban reservation.” The salvageable people will get out, the salvageable surrounding land will be gentrified, and the remaining detritus will be boxed in and forgotten. The fact that most Americans expressed outrage at the recent spate of mass shootings while continuing to ignore gun crimes in black inner cities shows the increasing popularity of “What happens on the reservation is none of my business.” David Cole

Adios Former Representative Shit For Fucking Brains Robert Francis O'Rourke.
Robert Francis O’Rourke is polling at less than 1% in a new Iowa poll.

Looks like the massacre of twenty-two people in El Paso did not result in his chance to ‘gain some momentum”

Maybe he just paused his campaign to search for a new spotlight. Or to eat some regenerative dirt. Or something.

Sad!

Of course it is unacceptable. Duh! But honestly, what did you expect from government run single payer health care?

Britain's national healthcare system said Thursday a record 4.4 million Britons are waiting for surgery -- a figure one medical leader called "unacceptable."

New statistics posted by the National Health Service also showed a 16 percent increase of patients who'd waited for more than 18 weeks for non-emergency operations, such as hip or knee replacements.

The five senses, taste, sight, touch, smell, and sound. What is it like to loose the sense of sight. A young man explains what it is like to slowly go blind.

THE DIAGNOSIS
I was diagnosed about a year and a half ago with RP, or Retinitis Pigmentosa. It’s a genetic disorder, so it’s something I got from my parents, but it’s a recessive trait, so it’s something I didn’t know I had.

I don’t have complete vision loss, although it can eventually close in completely. Right now I have a visual field of about 80 degrees. My central vision is still relatively strong — I have 20/40 vision with glasses, which isn’t bad. I can generally function on a computer and this and that. But an 80-degree field of vision is pretty much half of a healthy eye — most people have about a 160-degree field of vision.

It was my wife who pushed me to get my vision checked. We had to deal with this about four months into our marriage. I was naïve to what was happening to me: I was an athlete growing up — I played college sports, I was a football player. Which, in hindsight, made sense that I didn’t notice it because when you’re wearing a football helmet, your peripherals are blocked anyway.

If this works out, it is a pretty big break through. University of Toronto researchers accurately measure blood pressure using a smart phone.

If you’re reading this story on your smartphone, you may be holding the future of preventative health in your hands.

A study led by University of Toronto researchers, published today in the American Heart Association journal Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging, found that blood pressure can be measured accurately by taking a quick video selfie.

Kang Lee, a professor of applied psychology and human development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and Canada Research Chair in developmental neuroscience, was the lead author of the study, working alongside researchers from the Faculty of Medicine’s department of physiology, and from Hangzhou Normal University and Zhejiang Normal University in China.

Using a technology co-discovered by Lee and his postdoctoral researcher Paul Zheng called transdermal optical imaging, researchers measured the blood pressure of 1,328 Canadian and Chinese adults by capturing two-minute videos of their faces on an iPhone. Results were compared to standard devices used to measure blood pressure.

Is it time for Joe Biden's handlers to use a shock collar on Old Plugs? He is now claiming to be Vice President two years after he left office.

Joe Biden said he was vice president when the deadly high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, took place. Except, it happened in 2018, two years after he left office — the latest gaffe by the Democratic presidential front-runner.

Biden told reporters in Iowa on Saturday that “those kids in Parkland came up to see me when I was vice president.” But when they visited Capitol Hill to talk with members of Congress, lawmakers were “basically cowering, not wanting to see them. They did not want to face it on camera.”

The former vice president was making a point about the changing conversation around gun violence in this country, and how as more and more ordinary people are touched by mass shootings, they are more likely to call for action.

I know, shut up, Russia made him spout off incorrectly.

Deplorables 1 - Hollywood 0. Universal cancels release of movie about hunting and killing ‘deplorables’

Universal has canceled the planned September 27 release of “The Hunt,” a horror film that faced major backlash in recent days.

A Universal Pictures spokesperson told Fox News in a statement about the release cancellation, “While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film.”

Ford Motor Company and Hennessey Performance, Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day - Runner Up

Nearly two decades ago, Wesley Ryan sold his 1993 Ford Mustang GT to help cover the cost of his wife’s cancer treatment. Earlier this week, he was reunited with his car, thanks to help from Ford Motor Company and Texas-based tuning specialist Hennessey Performance.

His wife Laura survived her bout with the disease, thanks in part to the sacrifice of the Mustang GT. The Detroit News reports that Ryan sold the car 17 years ago and assumed it was gone forever, but the couple’s two kids tracked it down and negotiated a price to buy the car back.

The Foxbody was in bad shape and needed thousands in repairs, but Wesley’s son Jake was ready to do all the work himself. Ford caught wind of the heartwarming story before he could start and offered to restore the car for the family.

I guess Birmingham, Michigan has no parks. Just ask our Genius Award Winners.

f you are going to get naked and have sex with your partner in the back seat of an automobile, your car should be located anywhere but the parking lot of the local police department.

That important precaution was ignored by a Michigan couple now facing a court date next week after they were cited for disorderly conduct.

35 Good evening, Horde.

Today wasn't a bad day. Made customers very happy, reaped rewards accordingly.

They made the ship, with No Kidding Literally, mere seconds to spare. Security had the key in the lock of the door, and belayed turning the bolt ONLY cause they saw me pulling up at said door with a load of very anxious people at the very last second.

They let them in, and then turned the key in the lock.

Pro-Tip. When booking a cruise, don't schedule a flight from Chicago on the same day of embarkation.

Mechanical delays on their flight cut things down to the last seconds. One more red-light along the way, and they'd have been screwed.

And I was a bit more generous with the gas pedal than might be normal or prudent. But it got the job done.

Tomorrow's adventure? New tires for the Mazda.

Yippee.

72 On that minimalist reloading set up article in the gub thread, the use of a trimmer, case cleaner, bench-mounted press, and bench is a bit more than minimalist.

I loaded thousands with a Lee Hand Press, Lee caliber specific trimmers, an RCBS hand primer, Lee Dippers and Redding beam scale. For cleaning, get a plastic jug and use this cleaning solution recipe found on Cast Boolits.

1 quart of water. 1 cup white vinegar. 1/2 cup lemon juice. 1/4 cup liquid laundry or dishwashing detergent. Agitate until clean, rinse and dry in sun or oven.

Seriously. Are they so in the bag that they cannot step back and see that Epstein was an evil demon walking the earth? and that his "procurer" is just as fucking evil?

I am sick of giving a person or an entity "the benefit of a doubt." All too often it goes entirely the other fucking way.

101 EPSTEIN UPDATE:
At this moment there is little to report. You must keep in mind that it takes time for authorities to manufacture an autopsy report that fits the narrative that Mr Epstein`s tragic death was simply an unfortunate event due to a preexisting hidden medical condition or suicide with no involvement of any source other then Mr. Epstein himself.
If they choose the suicide route you can expect the usual..."Mistakes were made, and though careless in his monitoring, to suggest any criminal intent was involved would be unsubstantiated, irresponsible, conspiracy theories that demean the decent and dedicated, patriotic members of government that work tirelessly for our democracy."
If they desire to go the medical sudden death route, you can expect to be fed a boiler plate vague reference to his condition and cause with final analysis and official report released in 6-12 months after fabrication of the required documentation...
To accept this untimely death of such a high profile individual in such a circumstance would be the very definition of irresponsible!

Now if you're like me, who was a kid in the 90s, it's a political fact of life that the Clintons kill people pretty shamelessly, and always get away with it.

But this was so brazen that it seems intended to be known. Almost Russian style. Bill might as well have given the guard one of his cufflinks to leave by the body.

I'm 61, and have been out on the edge about as much as can be. Not as much as some, but more than most, by all accounts.

Seems fitting to me to spread that experience around a bit, and if possible then, *tag* you're it!

Not to seem trite, but I'm thinkin' you'd want to have experiences that suit your fitness level, from now to whenever. So, you're more fit now than not, and less fit later, right?

Then, what's the first five on that list, and how d'ya think we might get 'em done?

And then on to the next five, lather, rinse, repeat.

Doubt I'm alone here in that willingness to pitch in and make it fun as it can be along the way, too.

P.S. did a good deed today. Pulled into Shell station on JFK Boulevard, the main entry road to Bush IAH airport. Spotted a pair of ladies staring at the flat tire on the rear of their Toyota 4 Runner, like turkeys at the sky in the rain.

When I inquired, they admitted they didn't know what to DO. Mother n' daughter. Mom, totally hot, early 40s. Daughter off to college next week, wanted to learn how to change a tire.

Here's her chance, I tells her.

And I had time to DO this, due to the customer's flight suffering mechanical delay.... this all happened during that two hour wait for their late arrival.

So, we get it all done in 95 degree heat, traipse off into the store. I use the washroom for it's intended purpose, and soap n' water all the grime away.

They asked me what I wanted for the help, and I told 'em just a bottle of water. Which they bought, and handed me $40, which I tried to refused. She refused my refusal.

But she did hand me her business card. Deputy with Harris County Sheriff's Dept. Made a friend there, I think.

What she'll learn tomorrow, is I donated that $40 in her name to the PTSD Foundation of America, Camp Hope, Houston, TX.

There's some times that it's just not the right thing to do, to accept money for a thing meant purely to help.

This was one such time.

The list of "normal procedures" that were violated with Epstein is getting longer and longer. They took him off suicide watch, as you know. DOJ was concerned about that, and they were assured that Epstein wouldn't be alone.

That is, another prisoner was supposed to be with him and the guards were supposed to check on him every 15 minutes.

All that didn't happen. He was put in the cell alone, and the guards were too "tired".

THey have new ads up about how they like to have felons working for them. They boast about taking any questions about criminal history off of their employment applications ("because everyone deserves a second chance") even though having those questions on doesn't stop them from hiring the felons. Frankly, if someone gets hurt by a Koch-hired felon I would hope they could get triple in a suit because Koch went out of its way to let felons in and, to make sure no one knew.

Koch also has some other retarded commercials airing that are just leftist-PR and have nothing to do with whatever the hell it is that their company actually does (I have no idea, myself).

I never liked the Kochs and was always annoyed that the left tried to make these nobodies out to be important for the Tea Party - they had nothing to do with the Tea Party and were generally unknown until the left started running their "distract from Soros" campaign.

Around the time of the Tea Party, and the demonization of the Kochs - "the TEA Party is high on Koch," etc. - I went ahead and looked up the top 100 political donors in the US... They were both down in the mid-50s.

The other 98 were Dems.

233 Hi Dad. Wanted to let you know we made it home. Thanks again for everything.Tonypete and Chi Town Jerry, regarding afib: I had that for 5 years, did not know what was going on the beginning 4 years. After I found out I had again and attempted to manage it I was not getting the results I wanted.

Found a heart specialist and had a cryoablation procedure done. It has been 8 months and I very rarely have swelling in lower legs, much more energy and some unexpected improvement in my knees.

Don't know y'alls situation but in case you did not know of this option, I wanted to let you know.

Still, the house will be so different with her away. She has a beautiful voice, and I'll miss her breaking out into song on a whim. I'm a hypocrite; I often found her musical outbursts irritating during her high school years. She is loud.

Check the other vacuum lines to the vacuum servos that control the flapper valves on heater AC ducting.

My F350 lines were crumbly after so many years. A vacuum line repair kit can be had at auto parts store to splice in some good line. I believe there is one servo on a mixing flapper (AC or heat or mix) and another on the max AC (which is probably like a recirc), if the F150 is anything like my F350, and IIRC.

LINES are about 1/8 " OD and my crusty one was located on passenger wheel well.

Here's an example of what you mentioned:

"It is the wish of the Government that your army proceed to and occupy East Tennessee with all possible dispatch. It leaves to you the selection of the roads upon which to move to that object; but it urges that this selection be so made as to cover Nashville and at the same time prevent the enemy's return into Kentucky. To now withdraw your army to Nashville would have a most disastrous effect upon the country, already wearied with so many delays in our operations....Neither the Government nor the country can endure these repeated delays. Both require a prompt and immediate movement toward the accomplishment of the great object in view--the holding of East Tennessee."

354 SE Cupp: It's Time To Get Emotional About Gun Control
https://t.co/ybY2QoCuF7

...Cupp went on to detail the kinds of gun laws she says she now supports, and believes would disarm or prevent killers from obtaining firearms.

---"Universal background checks, gun violence restraining orders, raising the age to purchase a firearm to 21, banning 100-round drums, fixing our NICS system, investing in mental health inside our schools, things things cannot wait. I am so sick and tired of participating in this predictable cycle of politics where a mass shooting happens, the Left calls for new gun laws, some meaningful and some unproductive, and the Right yells 'slippery slope' and hides behind the Constitution."

What exactly is "hiding behind the Constitution"? Is Cupp saying it's preferable to treat the Constitution as just words on an old piece of paper, able to be ignored or disregarded whenever we want? Yeah, actually that does sound like what she's saying.

---"Look, I love the Constitution but it's still a document. It's meant to protect human beings. Real people. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What happiness are we protecting if our kids are afraid to go to school? What liberty are we protecting if we don't feel safe at the mall or walking down the street? What lives are we protecting when we arm a 21-year old white supremacist with 100 rounds of ammo only so he can go shoot up dozens of people at a Walmart?"

Cupp also accused gun owners, Republicans, and the NRA of not being emotional enough about these active assailant attacks...

An emotional response like actually profiling passengers might work. But they say the sacred Constitution is agin' it. Funny how the Constitution is so malleable in their hands.

I've watched a certain show on some channel called "To Catch A Smuggler". Police in airports in Peru, Colombia and Madrid. You know, I'm picturing how this went down. All the guards get strange orders. Turn off the cameras. Huh? I said turn off the cameras. OK. Now, leave your station. Huh. DO IT NOW!

This type of order is repeated to everybody in Epstein's section. The place is now vacant.

Cut to an elevator door. It slowly opens. The camera pans down and we see a pair of shoes. They step out of the elevator, walking slowly down the hall towards Epstein's cell.

The camera slowly pans up. We see the suit pants (well creased of course). Dark blue. The camera slowly pans up.

And finally we see the face. It's the Cigarette Smoking Man. He takes the laugh puff off his Morley and crushes it on the floor, as he steps in front of the door of Epstein's cell.

Epstein looks up and see his face. He cringes in horror. You! ...... It's the last thing Epstein sees.

Fade to black as CSM lights up another Morley as he steps out of Epstein's cell....

What are the odds that Epstein wasn't supposed to die, that his "hanging" was merely a Very Serious Negotiation Response to a threat Epstein made after his first beating, to get Epstein some religion, to get Epstein to hand over his Leverage, in return for which Epstein would get 5 years, then probation, and get to keep most of his money?

Things would've been simpler for "Them". But the 'hanging" went too far, and, rather than fearing J., Epstein got to meet J. ... and it looks like all of Epstein's personal effects and property will be turned over to the Feds, for unhindered discovery.

I bet one or two of Epstein's friends are barely able to retain bladder control, as "They" are looking for who has Epstein's Leverage, and "They" may have no idea who to question first ... and "They" may not be in a particularly good mood.

I'm pretty sure Epstein had to die. Get rid of him. Now. Too dangerous. When they unsealed those docs, with the pics of Prince Andrew hugging the Lolita, it was time to kill him. Right then.

I'm not saying it was the Prince -- there were more than one very powerful men named in that, mind you. When those docs were dumped, Epstein had to die.

Yes, it looks suspicious. "They" knew that, but in this case, that's better than alternative of the target living.

Epstein's gal, Whatshername Maxwell, is next. She was scared shitless by Epstein's death, and now she wants to talk.

She won't make it.

"Epstein kept a diary.... a very meticulous, detailed diary."

Did Epstein watch the Charles Bronson movie "St. Ives". It's not violent, for a Charles Bronson movie, but, seriously, WHO wants to live, for real, a Charles Bronson movie?

How many copies exist? Epstein probably knew, unless someone made a few extra. Who do we or "They" look for? There's very little time.

The problem with whacking Epstein in Federal Custody is that Epstein was whacked while Very Publicly in Federal Custody.

How must this play out now?

376 I'm having a case of the General Sunday Night Dreads -- the low-grade anticipatory Monday morning panic I've suffered since childhood. Now here in...uh....oldhood, I'm worn out from four years of full-time job and full-time Mom-caretaker. Now that she's in assisted living an hour away, the daily pressure is less, but I know now that I should've taken time off when her move was going on. So emotionally and physically spent! I feel twice my age. And my health -- exacerbated by financials that prevent me from getting all my prescriptions -- is poor. I'm in worse shape than I've told my family or colleagues.

I'm just whining about it here because it's my only safe space. "A hand reaching out in the darkness", right?

The key thing to remember is, Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Epstein was an Intel asset, he was a blackmail and compromat generator.

He was killed for many reasons chief among them was so that the fact that he was a government asset not be publicly divulged.

Oh and he was super pals with the Arkansas Mauler, so of course he's dead.

That's the way inconveniences to the Clinton are cleaned up.

417 So in the continuing saga of RatTown, and politics...

I told y'all yesterday about a 20 minute discussion with our local package delivery guy.

Grew up in the city
sold drugs as a kid to survive.
Climbed out of that life style.
Raised two successful kids.

Absolutely delightful person, who is fed up with the direction of RatTown government, and the sense of both despair and entitlement generated by the current and long standing policies of local government.

So yesterday afternoon, while exchanging greetings with a 50'ish black couple at the storage center, we wound up in an unexpected 15 minute discussion with the wife of the couple concerning basically the very same issues.

Black Baltimore ain't happy.

And they ain't blaming Republicans, conservatives or Trump for their issues.

The Republican party is missing a tremendous opportunity to show how conservatism can bring success to the black community.

You'll get use to it. I normally get up at 4:30 to be at work by 6ish.
Last day of vacation in a Walmart parking lot in Lubbock and I'm still up....but tired. Should be home late this afternoon then have to unload the RV and put it back into storage in 100+ degree heat. Gonna suck bigly after Colorado...

463 @451

A corrections guard has come forward to say that someone of Epstein's noteriety and who has already "tried" to commit suicide, would have been in what's called a pickle suit, which cannot be used to harm yourself and been housed in a cell that would have been impossible to kill yourself.

Epstein was taken out for several reasons, least of which was that he could implicate a shit ton of the elite.

He was more than likely whacked because he as an intel asset, plain and simple.

464 Under the new regime I hope to get a job giving useful idiots their due. I would joyfully suppress any squeamishness caused by my job to hear the cries of "what about my equality?". I would let them know that Soros et. al. revoked those rights as a relic of days gone by and congratulate them on their acceptance into the new marxist/fascist paradise they have struggled for all their lives.

465 Greetings fappers and fappees.

What fresh hell awaits us this day? At least we're alive to ax that question, unlike the Teh Pedomaster Epstein.

467 Maybe, Possibly, but in my experience it is best not to attribute conspiracy to what is probably just rank incompetence and laziness.

I have to go along with NGU on this. In the spirit of Occam's Razor, consider the following. You have this guy Epstein, had more money than God, had his own private jet to ride around in, was good buddies with all these rich and powerful types, even had his own private island (underage sex toys notwithstanding) to hang out at. To say they guy had it made would be an understatement.

Then suddenly he finds himself in jail, locked in a cell, with few if any prospects of ever getting out. Under these circumstances the idea of his killing himself is not so odd. That he was taken off suicide watch is not so surprising either. Someone in his position would have to be a glib talker, and so he convinces the prison officials that he is not suicidal, and so gets the privacy he needs to knock himself off. Like the man said, never assume malice when stupidity will suffice...

469 I went looking for a copy of H.G. Wells Time Machine yesterday. Amazon had it for $7 which I thought was high since you can get it for free from Gutenburg. So went to Gutenburg and downloaded it. Tried putting inyo mul6tip0loe mdiec tories on the Fire. Never could get it to load. Went on an internet search and found an anthology of H.G. Wells books for 99 cents under a different title. Went back to Amazon and sure enough they had it for .99. It pays to check on things.

470 I keep being told by my neighbors that I should only have native species in my yard.

I keep asking them from what part of Maryland is their landscaper from.

473 After the Left's extravagant displays of insult, contempt and degradation toward all Americans and America over the last three years, if this country doesn't vote overwhelmingly for Trump in 2020 we can all go to hell. We'll deserve everything coming to us.

Most lawn grasses are genetic hybrids developed and fine tuned over the years and are native to no area in particular anymore (like many decorative plants)

Tell your neighbors to enjoy their native rock garden
