The Morning Report - 8/6/19

whatsupre.jpg

Good morning, kids. Tuesday, and in the wake of last weekend's horrific double mass shootings, the Democrat-Left-Media Complex is using the not-even-cold bodies of the victims to wage what amounts to a terror campaign against the President and the American people. Yes, sadly, we've seen this show several times before over the past few decades, and it resulted in either nothing being done or an incremental seizing of our individual G-d given right to keep and bear arms, and then the story is forgotten until the next shooting. Lather, rinse, repeat.

But what we are witnessing now is completely different by orders of magnitude, and is pushing this nation closer to the brink. The Democrat-Left-Media Complex, its apparatchiks in the Deep State bureaucracy and the coastal "elites" who have benefitted from the 100-year project of fundamental transformation have been stopped cold by Donald Trump, or more precisely, a large swathe of the population who elected him that they regard with more disdain than dog shit on the bottom of their Manolo Blahnik's. It goes deeper than merely having an unwashed, orange-complexioned self-made gavone from Queens take over the club; Trump has exposed them, their policies, their beliefs and their sacred cows as the frauds, failures and disasters that they are for everyone to see - all by doing the exact opposite of what's been done for the past 60 years or more. And so, to crib a line from Network, "you have tampered with the primal forces of nature and you - will - atone!"

But now that the myth Trump stole the 2016 election with the help, or at the behest, of Valdimir Putin now all but exploded, the only thing left to play is the race card. Kolluzhnikov or not, they've been hock'n a tchainik on this incessantly since his signature issue, sealing the damn border is of course inherently racist as it prevents hordes of illiterate, unskilled, Latin American peasants from invading us unchecked, unassimilated and registered Democrat. Plus, the Charlottesville incident where Trump's words were twisted into a Media-generated blood libel that he supports the KKK further stirred the pot. And now, El Paso. Forget Dayton; the deviant in question is a rabid socialist, luddite, Malthusian and so down the memory hole this will go unless it can be spun otherwise.

Yes, gentle reader. If you were to listen to nothing but Propagandist Inc. and the DNC, America today is overrun with white, Christian, neo-Nazi nationalists armed to the teeth and ready to deal death to untermenschen at the slightest provocation, i.e. the words spoken by President Trump at any press conference or mass rally, which of course is the equivalent of Nuremburg in the 1930s. Now, let's look at reality. According to actual government crime statistics and not those cooked up at the SPLC and ADL, there is essentially no organized white supremacist movement in the USA, period. What groups that there may be are so disorganized, unconnected and small in number as to be statistically insignificant in causing mayhem, let alone overthrowing the government and imposing a dictatorship. But, the media's gonna media and the Democrats' gonna lie.

Unfortunately, the absolute hatred and loathing that has been ginned up cannot be, and will not be ratcheted down. It might have got lost in the sauce in yesterday's links, but some of you did in fact notice the alarming story of Antifa members starting to arm themselves up and get weapons training. From the political side of things, the President's remarks about hatred and "white supremacy," which I think in addressing these incidents are completely wrong and actually buttress the myths about him and us, are being rejected by the Democrat leadership and presidential candidates. Not that I give two flying fucks about either group, but it raises the question yet again of how are we to find consensus or at least attempt to de-escalate tensions when they view us as an evil that must be eradicated. The words of Cory Booker and Blotto O'Rourke are tantamount to a declaration of war, or at least a confirmation that that is a state in which we find ourselves presently.

It is beyond disgusting and rage-inducing when for the past three years and longer we have been smeared as racist, violent, knuckle-dragging throwbacks by the Democrat-Left-Media Complex while at the same time the latter has exhorted their followers to get in our faces, not give us a minute's peace and even worse. Just yesterday, Rand Paul is going to have to undergo surgery to IIRC remove part of his liver that was damaged when his neighbor almost beat him to death and protestors in front of Mitch McConnell's home threatened to "just stab the motherfucker in the heart." Do I have to mention the guy in New York who's going to lose an eye because he dared where a MAGA hat in Manhattan, let alone James Hodgkinson, and so on, and so on, and so on?

Meanwhile, while all this is happening, Google is colluding, and eagerly I might add, with Red China to create systems of high-tech oppression/repression that are no doubt headed our way, if not already here. Hell, they've openly boasted that they are devoting all their energies to prevent the re-election of President Trump. And circling back to the massacres and the mad dash to really grab our guns, what happens when this "social credit" system flags anyone who buys a gun, or bullets, or donates to the NRA, or a Republican candidate? We already have banks that are refusing to do business with any firearms-related companies and dealers. What happens when they refuse to loan money to you if you refuse to bake the damned cake or shave a man's testicles?

In summary, this is all not going to end well. I think the President's words affirming the premise of white supremacy and his signaling of wanting to do "something" about the shootings, vis a vis another gun control law, are exactly what the enemy wants. Unless he has something else up his sleeve that he's waiting to reveal, it's a Munich moment that really must be avoided.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

HAPPY HIROSHIMA DAY!

I too am very disappointed by Barr's decision, and I too hope it is not foreshadowing other "decline to prosecute" decisions from the DOJ.

33 The 2A SCOTUS cases have zero to do with the shootings in Dayton and El Paso. Just like the "background check" dodge that Democrats, and apparently the president are pushing.

Our Second Amendment rights do not stop at the front door of our homes and states don't have the right to restrict where you carry. That was pretty clear in Heller, but apparently not clear enough.

Both the NYSRPA and the New Jersey cases will be decided in a way that reinforces this fundamental truth.

35 Morning everyone. I was so pissed off yesterday that I contacted the White House to express my frustration - probably a good idea for others to do the same. So so pleased with President Trump in so many areas but his 'NY business democrat' conviction is seeping in here. I appreciate his willingness to deal and achieve results, but he's still under the impression that you can 'work with' these people. Disappointing.

Posted by: Heston's Cold, Dead, Iron Grip at August 06, 2019 08:10 AM (sqqD4)

36 Trump made a huge mistake condemning white supremacy and hate-violence. It concedes the argument to the Dems and does nothing to calm the insanity, and actually increases the feeding frenzy. Presidents should mostly stay out of these shootings unless they can be shown to be part of an organized political group and issue a written statement offering condolences to the survivors and families. Maybe some personal visits without a gaggle of screaming reporters.

41 Re paper straw BS

We were somewhere recently and all their trash cans made a big deal about the straws being composted. I laughed to think about the trees we were growing with chemicals and oil burning machines, processing, making straws out of, shipping, collecting, destroying, and then using machinery to pile up in order to release massive amounts of heat from decomposition before asking people to drive their cars to come take it away to rot on their property.

Plastic straws are bad for the environment, though.

They aren't exactly following the law. So effing stupid... No, it's worse. It would solve nothing, and it opens a bottomless pit of gun confiscation, which is exactly what they want. If Trump goes for this, he will not like the response he gets from is supporters, I believe.

51 In practice a "red flag" laws makes every bitter ex-spouse, every "progressive" secondary school teacher and every "Hate Has No Home Here" neighbor your prosecutor, judge and jury.

Your firearms are seized on an accusation, beginning a long and doubtless expensive process of trying to litigate them back.

It is worse than unconstitutional. It is overtly anti-Constitutional. It reverses the burden of proof in due process at the expense of a fundamental right. And, during the adjudication, the accused is being already being punished. We already have a process of involuntary commitment (with high standards of proof). To decide if someone is in fact "a danger to themselves or others" then by all means their possession of a weapon should be a relevant factor, but to create a wholesale new system in which there are no checks and delays up to a year to "get your guns back" is straight up tyranny.

59 The so-called "Red Flag" rules will eventually make it's way to SCOTUS. Not only are they an assault on the Second Amendment, but they are in contravention of the Fourth Amendment and open for abuse.

You simply cannot take the property of someone and then have your star chamber court justify it. If a person has not committed a crime, there is no cause.

You want to have someone adjudicated a mental defective and therefore ineligible to own a firearm? Go for it. But I've seen too many abuses where people, like jilted ex girlfriends, falsely file against their ex boyfriends, who then have their firearms removed and have to "prove" to the court they are not what they were reported to be.

You want to clean up mass shootings? Start working on keeping these loons from owning them.

69 JJ, a commenter yesterday (gp) wanted to argue with me and YOU that not only was there a big surge in "white supremacist" violence but that it'nifs real and significant.

I'm irritated by even the right running around using the created language of the left and condemning "white nationalism." WTF is "white nationalism/" Does that mean not globalism and not-open-borders like I think it means? Or are they using a mind trick to make people believe that means white supremacy? Do they think opposing the population-replacement of the US using open borders is somehow "racist?" Or are they just doing the same thing the communists have been doing for 100 years and fomenting race and class division to advance their coming perfect-this-time revolution?

I have no doubt that in a population of 350 million plus 40 million illegals you can find people that believe all kinds of things. However, the idea that there is some white supremacist (actual not just those who don't want open borders) surge.

74 The so-called "Red Flag" rules will eventually make it's way to SCOTUS. Not only are they an assault on the Second Amendment, but they are in contravention of the Fourth Amendment and open for abuse.

Welp I guess we'll find out next November. That DJT got elected in the first place is a good sign that people were tired of Gaylord's shuck and jive (and his elections were likewise an electorate telling the GOPe LOLGF). That the market has done well, yesterday's blip notwithstanding, will drive more votes than the unfree press spewing lies imo.

What gives me optimism is that Reagan's second term was a landslide even with the unfree press torpedoing him. History doesn't repeat itself per se but it can set expectations even if the GOP avoids them.

But most that I know of require LEO's go to the court and present material cause for taking the firearms. Then the case is further adjudicated with the "defendant" having to state his case or disprove the allegation.

It's justice turned upside down.

92 Pornogrind is a subgenre of a fast and extreme kind of heavy metal called grindcore, which is known for its mostly dark, satirical themes of sexual violence and gore delivered for shock value.

The band's song titles are explicitly sexually violent, such as "Preteen Daughter Pu$$y Slaughter" and "Cunt Stuffed With Medical Waste - Sexual Abuse Of A Teenage Corpse." The album art is equally explicit. One album cover shows a woman consuming feces, while another shows an illustration of a young woman's headless body chained to a bed, covered in blood, as a man puts his pants back on.

110 I have a problem with mental defectives getting their guns taken away. It is accompanied by perverse incentives. The state will go full Soviet and be trying to have lots of people declared mental defectives, and mental health privacy will be sacrificed in that pursuit. And people who need mental health treatment will be discouraged from pursuing it because it's accompanied by a loss of rights. The shootings will go on, and we ordinary folks will be less free. It's how government always works; bad people do bad things, which means that non-bad people have to lose their rights. No thanks.

Trump obviously panicked because of the race angle being pumped out by the media.

Being labeled a racist is still a powerful tool in the left's arsenal.

There also is the undeniable fact that mass shootings have increased dramatically, now this is largely from a breakdown of the family, societal cohesion and we largely no longer have the unifying factor of the church in most peoples daily lives, but politicians are going to be pressured, "to do something!!!"

Trump is being similarly pressured.

I do not have a good feeling about what is going to come from politician's "doing something, " but I know it won't be good or do anything to actually solve the problem.

143 My main issue with the so called Red Flag laws is the lack of due process.

They make an accusation which is not always very specific or could be unsupported hearsay or not contextual.

They bring it before a judge who gives an order to seize your property.

You then must disprove the allegation, shifting the burden of proof on the defendant and turning our justice system upside down.

You might as well scream, Repent! at the respondent when he comes into court.

Diff there is that due process is honored before the guns are confiscated. And while I think the GCA is a steaming hot pile of manure, to pretend that this is some kind of situation that requires new law or laws is deceptive in the extreme.

I think the failure here is that the NICS doesn't have reporting on a lot of these shooters to flag them, and that's (again IMO) a result of many years of trying to "normalize" those mental "defectives" instead of properly adjudicating them. Shorter way of saying it...docs don't follow the process and prefer to throw meds at those patients instead of taking the time to properly assess the dangers they potentially pose.

148 There won't be a Federal Red Flag law.

States already in that business, and they vary in how intrusive they are.

Worst case Red Flag law is like the child protective laws we have, with mandatory reporters, secret reporting, and administrative, not court ordered, implementation and review.

--Dagny"

151 NY's Red FLag law does require court intervention

Police, district attorneys, family or household members, or school administrators or their designees can file a petition with state Supreme Courtif they have reason to believe a gun owner is a threat to themselves or others.
If
the judge finds the gun owner is "likely to engage in conduct that
would result in serious harm to himself, herself, or others," the judge
can issue a temporary"extreme risk protection order" that prevents the person from possessing or purchasing firearm

Within three to six days, the gun owner would get a hearing on a final order. If the judge issues a final order, it would be in effect for up to one year.

159 A case that illustrates why I wish Texas did have some version of a red flag law, and it's not that unusual of a case:

there was a high school student here, very mentally disturbed. No father in the home, he had gotten big and he threatened his mother and sister constantly, sometimes with knives. They'd call the police, the police would pick him up overnight, say he's a juvenile, then let him go. He finally got sent to a state mental hospital, but he acted "nice" there, and they were overcrowded so they let him go. They put him in a special ed program at the local high school. (He was crazy, not stupid) His family again was calling the police daily, saying that he talked about hurting people constantly, police said we can't do anything until he acts on it.

finally at school he pulled out a butcher knife and stabbed one of the most popular teachers at the school, a man everyone liked with 30 years experience, through the heart. His family said "we begged and begged and told everyone that this was going to happen, and no one did a thing, til he finally murdered someone like he told us he was going to."

161 Psychologists, educators, society in general. and most parents know that it is not good for children to be browbeaten and told they are stupid, worthless, that they will never amount to anything.

But once they enter school, it is apparently fine and there could be no possible repercussions for constantly telling boys (and white boys in particular) that they are the cause of every bad thing now and throughout history.

Now I am NOT excusing the evil people who did these deeds. That is on them entirely. Just an observation of something we know to be harmful to children but that the left is fine with pushing on certain groups.

What if there were a variation of a red flag law where you as the gun owner designated a single person who individually had that power to throw the red flag?

Presumably you'd pick someone who you trust not to maliciously take you to court, so if that person thinks you shouldn't have guns, then there's almost certainly something wrong.

And that's the thing. I don't know all the details, but I did think that if a patient tells a doc that he really wants to shoot up a bunch of people because of the voices in his head or whatever, a scrip for prozac isn't going to be effective.

I'm thinking docs are keen to avoid lawsuits brought on by diagnoses and actions that result in someone being committed, so they move to the other extreme and don't commit anyone.

So as you say, and I agree - the conversation has to be about getting mentally ill people effective help while keeping society protected from the dangers they pose while they are getting their help.

most aggravating about Charlottesville, Trump denounced the handful of jerks on both sides, then said there were good people on both sides. That is how to bring people together ... unite them around a desire to "Make America Great" despite differences.

But of course the event was planned to divide, so the RE Lee statue must be destroyed, or you are a white supremacist. Dick Spencer seemed more like a leftist/CIA operative than what he claims (white nationalist) .. and the march with tiki torches was weird if not provocative.

But even the handful of actual white supremacists (if there were some) were not violent. They geared up when they heard Antifa was coming to do battle (without getting a permit, but that was allowed by the mayor/cops).

The majority of townies that came out were led to believe they were showing up to stand against the KKK (or white supremacists). They were not the antifa group or the statue group ... but someone was able to get them out ... who did that? It all looked like a staged PsyOp, and as their nature is, the MSM with drive TheNarrative assuming more than half that nation will never delve into the facts. But alternative media is breaking their image ... so now they censor us on social media ... or as Ace said yesterday ... "I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say".

Bullshit.

The Democrats don't give two fucks if we really tell the truth or lie--they're going to lie about us anyway.
And they'll never in a million years give any conservative credit for being precise with the facts.

All that matters, is the voters who only skim the news see that he was a loyal Democrat and supported the same things they're pushing now.

Fine. You don't have to say anything.

But stay out of the way and say nothing.

The media is playing a motte and bailey game in which they talk about nothing else but "white supremacy", including claiming it's the main cause of violent/terror attacks anymore, and then retreating to a "do you deny these people exist" defense when challenged on the disproportionate focus they have on them.

I think it's instructive to look at what Child Protective Services (and this is in TEXAS dammit) considers 'risk factors' for a family:

more than one child
only one wage earner in a home
regular church attendance

I could go on. It's astounding. Basically everything that was in the average family sit-com in the 50's is now signs of a dangerous environment for children.

Then they simply report "10 risk factors" on the info they give when justifying taking children from a home.

The books would be absolutely cooked from the get-go with any sort of Red Flag test.

100% correct, there is no white supremicst movement. Heck they could only get a couple of dozen idiots to show up for their "National" march in Charlottesville.

But we are not talking about reality here, we are talking about perceptions. and yes there is a perception by a whole lot of adults in this Country that there is a huge white nationalist movement. The media made that perception with the help of every liberal politician in the Country.

Heck nearly 51% of adults polled by quinnipiac believe that Trump is a racist and that is the problem we have to deal with. Nothing is going to change that.

Things they've defined as 'white supremacy' include math, English,
grammar, rules, discipline, Christianity, border enforcement, and a long
list of anything else you can conceive.

Which is exactly what W.E.B. Dubois said in so many words a century ago an he learned that at the Frankfurt School. This crap has been argued since the post modernists/harlem renaissance writers went about deconstructing the advice of Booker T Washington to go with the marxists.

The marxists have been pushing that for 100 years. They HAVE to destroy western civilization to advance global communism, it's the only way to do it. This crap is formulaic, but everyone is so unread and ahistorical they think this shit is new.

295 There seem to be too many nihlists. Of course society and the family are to blame on an individual basis but the insane media and the net are more than proximal causes. Of course, in the end, everyone is responsible for themselves. If a nation needs to start banning adults from previous freedoms, it is already in a lot of trouble.

I remember the Summer of the Shark in 2000 clearly. I really can't think of another episode that showed more clearly that the media can drive a narrative and influence public opinion. If anyone wants to look into it, it was the Summer before 9/11. The media had everyone believing that there was an epidemic of shark attacks. If you went into the water, you were likely to get chomped. When statisticians looked back on that Summer, they found there were fewer attacks than an average year. . The whole thing was media driven. They can stir us up on a whim.

But I am open to the idea that there is a problem in this country. I can look at the msm and see that is the case. I don't doubt there are societal issues here that are making things worse. I wish I had an answer to the problem.

The only answer i can really give is the one I have given since I started posting here. Teach people respect for their nation and its history. Teach positive values and respect for each other. The fact is some things, hell many things, are beyond government. There is an answer but you won't find it in Congress.

How the State will actually use them is to allow sick people to slip

Yes, this exactly. I've mentioned before how mentally ill late wife was. At one time, she fought with both a cop and me in the front yard and would have killed either or both of us if she gained the upper hand. Honestly, it was touch and go for a moment there. She beat us both bloody and the cop could not bring his weapons to bear. She had the strength of a wounded bear.

No charges were ever filed or involuntary commitment ordered even though she was clearly a danger to society and herself. The DA and judge involved released her to my custody for "compassion's sake". I didn't want them to.

354 Now.. why a stupid farmer would plant soy beans this year knowing the disputes with China over trade, is beyond me.

Grow wheat and be safe.. or whatever.. not soy beans.
Posted by: Chi-Town Jerry

Chi-town Jerry, agricultural expert. Whatever.

People plant soy beans because it is a rotational cash crop. Soybeans are largely used to feed cattle in the US. Soybeans help to put nitrogen back into the soil, because of the symbiotic growth of a bacteria in the root system that fixes nitrogen. And climates that are good for soybeans are not necessarily good for wheat. Wheat needs a long, warm dry spell to ripen properly. If it rains too close to harvest, it can ruin the wheat crop.

357 My grandfather was a soybean farmer. His equipment, fertilizers, etc was specific to soybeans. He'd grown cotton in the past and maybe some sorghum, but I doubt that land would have easily been converted to wheat without great expense. Fields near the river could probably grow rice, but that's a water intensive thing.

363 The old man's brothers and my Grandfather - all of whom were going to be part of the Invasion.

My dad was engineering landing strips in the Philippines at that moment. It is indeed a good day.
Posted by: dagny

Good day and a day for a little bit of reflection on just how horrible war can be.
My father was in the Phillipines, and training for the invasion of Japan, just like (literally) a million other guys. He lived. The US Army in Europe were dreading being re-deployed into another war zone. They now knew that they would live and go home.

Terrible day for the Japanese in Hiroshima and later Nagasaki. They were human beings too. But it ended the war.

A lot of terrible days for people in Japanese cities that were fire bombed by B-29 raids.

But the war was over.

From MacArthur's speech at the Surrender on the Missouri:

It is my earnest hope, and indeed the hope of all mankind, that from this solemn occasion a better world shall emerge out of the blood and carnage of the past -- a world founded upon faith and understanding, a world dedicated to the dignity of man and the fulfillment of his most cherished wish for freedom, tolerance, and justice.

364 "We were somewhere recently and all their trash cans made a big deal about the straws being composted."

Here's the thing, compostable silverware and straws HAVE to be placed in a special commercial composter. They don't just break down on their own. Most municipalities do not have those composters either. These compostable things do NOT usually break down in a regular landfill, but if they do, they emit methane. There's a great article on this in Mother Jones, of all places!

Dig up a landfill and you will find oodles of telephone books that can still be read. The good news is landfills of today will become mines of the future.
