The Morning Report - 07/17/19

sabotlosi.jpg

Good morning, kids. I've got an image stuck in my head this morning and I can't seem to shake it. It's from the final scene of Alfred Hitchcock's wartime thriller Saboteur where the heavy, played by Norman Lloyd is dangling from Lady Liberty's torch as the hero, Bob Cummings, strains to hold on to his sleeve, desperately trying to save the guy he's chased for the entire picture who framed him for treasonous sabotage. And then Hitch cuts to a close up of Lloyd's shoulder where, one by one, the stitches on his jacket sleeve start popping loose...

Everything about that entire scene combines into a metaphor that perfectly encapsulates where the Democrat Party and even more frighteningly the nation as a whole is at this moment in time. We're coming apart at the seams. The better angels of our nature are desperate to cling to something, anything in our political enemies that will pull them back from the brink, knowing full well that if the situation were reversed, they'd be doing what Martin Landau did to Cary Grant as he dangled from a precipice atop Mount Rushmore in North By Northwest: grind his heel into Grant's hand.

Beyond any shadow of a doubt (no pun), the Democrat Party has gone from being merely a political enemy and morphed into a mortal enemy not just of the GOP and conservatives, but of the nation as founded, its distinct culture, traditions, heritage and its people. The spectacle over the last few days that we have had to endure, which is solely and wholly at the feet of the Democrat-Media Complex, will go down as a low point in our history, naturally depending upon who gets to write that history. For me, almost as repulsive as having to listen to the effluent coming from the flapping castanets of the Febrile Four Females of "The Squad" aka "The Aristocrats!" are the fools, stooges and confederates of the anti-Trump persuasion who cast equal if not more blame on this President and by extension the majority of the American people.

President Trump has rightly called them out in the plainest of terms for who and what they are and what they have said, vis a vis the bald-faced lies about or immigration and detention policies and more generally the nation and its citizens. Nowhere in any of his comments were any individuals named, let alone their race or country of origin. Only one was born in one of the worst foreign shit-holes on the planet and the other three come from domestic shit-holes of the Democrat-controlled variety, but I digress. The attitude and meaning of the phrase "America, love it or leave it" is unambiguous, and the only crime in Trump saying what amounts to that sentiment is that for far too long it has gone unsaid.

What all of these idiots are missing, mostly because the propagandists aren't covering it, is the rhetoric that Trump was attacking has and continues to incite violence. When you label detention facilities as "concentration camps," compare Trump to Hitler, Pence to Himmler, the Border Patrol and ICE agents as the SS rounding up innocent children and torturing them, is it any wonder that some guy attempted to firebomb a detention facility in Tacoma? (NB: CNN gave the now room-temperature terrorist in question a glowing profile). Not only do The Aristocrats!" refuse to condemn this action but an equally vile backbencher colleague, Karen Bass, is preemptively blaming any future violence on the President. Meh, the Democrats are not going to condemn Antifa terrorists because like their antebellum antecedents, Antifa is as part of the Democrats now as the KKK was back then and for over 100 years, the big "switching of the parties post 1964" lie notwithstanding. Oh yes indeed. I do not have solid proof definitively tying Antifa to any Democrat, but to this day Dick Durbin and his staff have yet to be called to account for their evidently close and extensive relationship with James Hodgkinson, the man who nearly massacred GOP House members at a softball practice two years ago. Cui Bono is not Cher's dead ex.

As the late, great Barry Goldwater famously said,

Moderation in the protection of liberty is no virtue; extremism in the defense of freedom is no vice. Those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version of heaven on earth.

Before his words get twisted, as they always do, Goldwater was not promoting violence. He was merely exhorting those in his political party who detested him, to stand up to the oncoming tidal wave of anti-Americanism and Democrat-Socialism that 50+ years later is about to swamp us. Trump is the only president or real political leader on the right in my lifetime to have taken Goldwater's words to heart. Make no mistake, I am not promoting violence either. But it is the Democrat-Left-Media Complex that is going to - and in fact is - forcing the issue. Of winds and whirlwinds, yo.

Now to the links we go...

AMNESTY, IMMIGRATION, MIGRANT INVASION BORDER WALL, BORDER SECURITY

The Son-In-Law also rises, mostly by rolling out the President's immigration fixes, Ken Cuccinelli warns of an ICE dam, Dems tell American citizens to FOAD, Nancy Palsi's "spark of humanity" boys engage in the mostly peaceful cutting out the heart of a victim with machetes, and when the CBP is arresting illegal aliens up in Maine, you know you have a crisis.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

NOTE: The opinions expressed in some links may or may not reflect my own. I include them because of their relevance to the discussion of a particular issue.

9 WSJ article discussing the new North American Free Trade deal and Lightzhizer. Short version is "he is struggling to sell the replacement to Congress".

What they don't tell you is one of the main sticking points is they want better protections for MEXICAN workers. They are also pushing for more enviro-wacko stuff.

26 My willowed comment from the ONT on illegals. Reposting because it's been something that haunts me often.

Lurking in the back of my mind is the knowledge that, no matter who we elect, at this stage of the game we've reached the point of no return. With 25-40 million illegal aliens here, with 100s of 1000s streaming across the border every year now and gaming the legal system with their rehearsed lies, the end result is what will ultimately be the destruction of America in all ways we hold dear. It can't be stopped. Congress won't stop it, no matter who is in the majority (Trump would...if he could, but he can't all by himself). The courts won't stop it. They aren't going back involuntarily. They aren't going back voluntarily. It's a crushing realization and I try and push it out of my head, but it's back there lurking all the time. And I'm not stupid. I see the writing on the wall and there's nothing I can do about it.

Democrat radicals, and particularly Ilhan Omar, are always protected by the press. They make sure that the radical stuff they say and do stays hidden, or if it gets out, it is easily shrugged.

Trump just made every LIV and independent think: Hmmmm, what is the deal with these women - and open google/bing/whatever to find out.

I point out Omar because she not only regularly says awful stuff, but she has clearly broken several laws with her brother marriage-for-immigration fraud scheme, and the MSM has been working hard to brush it off as simply "complex marital history."

Assuming they did it all in one fell swoop, maybe. Or maybe if Pence became President and was blocked by the Senate from approval of his VP selection, then was impeached.

But the simple math of the Left convinces them that its a simple 1,2,3 process. They don't understand that step 2 is a reset back to step 1 and it starts again from there.

Line of succession is largely for catastrophes, which are unlikely to get very deep down the line.

142 Good morning JJ and the illustrious Horde. Have read the commentary and reviewed 'some' of the link-fu over a cup of Joe and still in before the art thread. LOL.

Two comments: OANN does a great service by putting up immigration by the numbers at least once every 30min broadcast and they are staggering. Wonder why we never see this on any of the MFM channels or any 'mainstream' newspapers? Hmmm, wonder why?

Second comment: I'm so tired of the "we've surrendered on the most important (fill in the blank) fight in our lifetime even before it begins" rhetoric. PDJFT and his administration have continually fought for us on nearly EVERYTHING but there's always something more that could be done. I remember when it was said, "if we could only get one more on the Supreme Court than that's worth my vote alone," and a wide variety of examples. Moving goalposts - that's what people do.

I thank the good Lord for President Trump each and everyday as he fights for us "normal" and I will continue to support him through thick and then. And I support McTurtle even though he pisses me off royally from time to time as he has thwarted Palsi and her ilk time and time again as the house posturing bills find their way into his waste baskets and not onto the Senate floor time and time again.

Anyway, time to refill the coffee and catch up on the Horde commentary - you guys rock.

It's important to remember that the church militant, ie, the church on earth of living men is as corruptable and sinful as man and has the tendency to move toward sin although we attempt to combat that with grace. Don't confuse an earthly institution with the church of the faithful washed of sin.
Faith is a supernatural gift to a person when he has intellectually and willfully assented to belief. You most definitely don't have to believe in anything not prescribed by Revelation. It's also important to how stupid and how poorly learned theologically many are. While God might want us to feed a starving stranger temporarily, he certainly didn't imagine we were obligated to host a rave for invading Huns.
I regularly ask my church officiates (priests, now) if they have a list of civil laws that they approve of and which ones I can just ignore. I'd rather give my tax money, for example to Fisher House instead of supporting the infrastructure for Planned Parenthood, would they like to go on record encouraging me to do so and pay for my legal defense and if not, why not?

I agree. And at risk of sounding sexist, I have noticed a profound change in the American female voice over generation or so. The vocal fry, the clipped, glass-shattering sharpness, the total absence of richness, depth, musicality, things we associate with "female." Listen to the female reporters screeching at Trump. Awful. Contrast this with average French or Italian or Australian girl. (Love that Aussie accent on a girl.)

The best part was that after business kicked up thanks to Obama's 2014 unaccompanied minors policy, these organizations were sued by the Obama admin and ACLU to force them to provide contraceptives and maybe even abortions.

So first, Obama used their desire "creative revenue" to force them to go against their conscience. Naturally.

Second, the Obama admin was clearly aware that these unaccompanied minors were being sexually abused by their coyotes and after arriving in the US and their response was. . . "well, let's make sure they don't have babies," not, "hey how do we protect these vulnerable kids from being raped?"

Marginal, useless people living in a marginal, useless country, trying to pretend they're relevant through aggressive cosplay.

They can't even comprehend that the UK's manufacturing output has fallen so low that they can not possibly make a measurable change to the Earth's atmosphere, not even if everything they believe is true, not even if they take England back to being an island with no cities and just a handful of cave dwellers scattered here and there.

Quite literally, nothing they can do matters in even the slightest way.

Yeah, I didn't want to re-litigate past injustices and blood feuds per se. My point is this was an example of a modern society, and can collapse into chaos and bloodshed and wholesale slaughter astonishingly quickly. And good luck getting through one if you're using a VPN. Want to see this page? We need your personal data.

* Nevermind that it is apparently trivially easy to make a page with forms that humans can't see or interact with but that machines will fill out and can be easily blocked from accessing anything beyond that page. The recaptcha is there to prove you've got personal data for google to collect. Nothing more.

I think this is key. For years and years and years, The Swamp has insisted upon respect and deference being defaulted to them because they consider it their due. Consider Barbara Boxer demanding a General call her "Senator." Consider Sandy Cortez's entire demeanor. Hell, let's throw in Cap'n Bill and the French Davidian there too...."I'm your better, respect me!"

I learned through sometimes bitter experience that if you have to insist upon respect, you've already lost the battle. You earn it, you fight for it, and it becomes yours. I've watched a brand new Ensign decide to hang his Academy diploma to try and impress the Chiefs. Yeah, didn't work out so well.

Point being, Trump doesn't play that game. If you earn his respect, you've earned a very valuable thing indeed...and it's so valuable he doesn't just give it away. Hence the shell shock of the Swamp...he isn't playing by their rules.

Narcan isn't free, they just give it away after they take my tax $$$ to buy it.

There was a guy in Lexington, KY that had been "revived" 32 time in three years with Narcan. Some people on the City Council wanted to put a limit on revivals and let nature take it's course because those pens are expensive, but they got shut down.

355 I understand what Trump is doing. But it is risky. Trump is a risk taking businessman and an unconventional politician.

I know that Ben Shapiro is an anti-Trump Vick, but I would suggest that Trump supporters read his column in Townhall today with an open mind. Because what if he is right this time? Voters are easily hoodwinked into believing that a politician's personal behavior is the number one issue - not that they got a good job two years ago, or that they have more money in their pockets. In fact, a lot of people who got a tax cut in 2017 think they didn't get one.

It's up to us to somehow convince persuadable people that Trump's behavior is not that important, instead of sitting around and complaining about the left, the Democrats, and the media.

Posted by: Someguy at July 17, 2019 09:01 AM (p997d)

men walk in knowing what they want. Some are susceptible to being talking into things, but even then for the salesman it's mainly the trick of figuring out what the customer REALLY wants, but was going to deny himself. (never that hard to talk someone into doing what they always really wanted to do - kind of like dems and impeachment) If men don't want something, we don't go shopping.

Women, on the other hand, will often tend to go into a store (clothes, cars, pets, whatever) just to "look around" and see what's there. And THAT is the kind of customer that can be flattered into getting almost anything.

371 good morning horde ... yes, we should love America ... the America of the constitution and sovereign rights. We should not love the swamp or the "fundamental transformation" entrenched in power by Barry Obama, but ushered in by the commie march through our institutions.

With "Drain the Swamp" and "Close the Borders" and "Balance the Budget" ... we are not back in the 60's, we are in the reclamation phase, trying to take back schools, Woke banks, government from a DeepState cartel, hiring practices from a Woke corporate America .... and so on.

Trump didn't say "America Love it or Leave it", but close enough I guess, directed at those in Congress specifically hating on fundamental concepts. ... They are the ones specifically trying to tear us apart, as is the whole concept of Soros funded groups all the way up to the CFR/IMF and various globalist foundations.

The danger in my mind is the left has changed America ... so I usually say "love constitutional America", or Foundational ... something to suggest the America the left has grabbed by the pussy (over the last 60 years) has been cucked, at least at the power structure of lawfare and much of government. We must change course, not stay the course.

But Trump has done OK with the messaging, and The Vapid Squad is entrenched as America hating fools, the face of the Dem party. I wonder if Trump is going with MAGA again in 2020 ... or something with a "A Return to Virtue" ... liberty for ALL theme.

389 Having worked at MSFC with a group of people who worked on the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs, I have a deep love for space exploration and the brilliant people who make it happen.

I was also there as a spectator for all that. Our nation was vastly different than today, which pretty much goes without saying. We weren't bored or anything like that, we enjoyed the challenge and wouldn't have accepted it if we didn't think we could do it.

BTW, it's not talked about much, but back before NASA succumbed to bureaucratic bloat and muzzie outreach, they actually made money for the government, the only such agency that I'm aware of that did that. All the technology they developed was public property and lots of companies were started afterwards, spreading that new tech into society, generating wealth and tax income for Uncle Sam.

President Boy would restore that mission to NASA and put boots back on the Moon and Mars, too. Doing so is good for us in lots of ways.

I'm so grateful for this op ed piece because it echoes and expands on the thoughts I've had since the Democratic debates. I was the only one of my friends who thought the election was lost when Hillary Clinton made her "deplorables" remark. I get the same sinking feeling when Democrats come out in favor of single-payer health care, reparations for blacks, decriminalizing illegal immigration, wiping out student loan completely, and helping blacks buy homes. These are all worthy ideas in some ways. But Blue Cross/Aetna employees, and white people who could never save enough money for a down payment on a mortgage, aren't going to support a candidate who favors others over them (just to reference a couple of ideas that could help Trump win). Even people who abhor Trump's crudeness, incompetence, bigotry, and anti-democratic leanings may not vote against their own self-interest. Asking people to vote to have their tax dollars spent in ways that don't directly benefit them could lose the Democrats the election.

398 You can't win by trying to explain something that other people find "objectionable" - if you're explaining, you're losing. The more you talk about it, the more you make them think about it, and the deeper in the hole you get.

You have to focus your efforts on attack, on the other side. Politically, we are never making a choice about one man in a vacuum, we always have to choose which is better for us? This guy, or someone else? There is far more mileage to be had by going after an opponents flaws. (wonder why politicians do attack campaigns more than any other? This is why)

Forget "explaining away" Trump. He is what he is. Focus on showing why any and all Dem's will destroy America once and for all, with examples of things they have actually said.

AND if you run into anyone who thinks open borders is A-OK, just give up right there. They are your enemy and nothing you can say will ever have the slightest impact on them. Go find more fertile ground for your efforts.

So, when talking to those who you think both may listen to you, but who maybe anti-Trump, focus on giving them reasons not to vote. You won't be able to get them to change sides, but you very well may be able to get them to buy into the belief that everyone is corrupt, everyone is horrible, and voting is a pretense, a useless waste of time and effort that does nothing. Millenials especially just about all believe that, so it's an easy sell.

No way he won't fall apart under questioning.

443 Everyone has already made up their minds on whether they are anti-Trump
or pro-Trump.

I disagree a bit on the changing minds thing. I think there are some people out there who see where the Dems are headed, and see the economic prosperity Trump has ushered in. I think people who went with Hillary last time because they thought Trump was a loose cannon, have had some of their fears calmed and will feel comfortable voting for him in 2020. I think there is a portion of the electorate that is swing-able.

Of course not. Same deal as when the Palisavages fire 500 or so missiles into Israel, then it's Israel's fault when the Israelis launch counterbattery missiles and kill someone's goat and/or junior wife.

Maybe it's up to you, but not to me. Trump is Trump and he's been doing quite well being Trump. And his behavior IS important, and is inspiring a hell of a lot of people previously shunned and shamed into silence. Go Trump. Don't change a thing.

THIS! I had that very same conversation with an in-law who said "I voted for him and would do so again but I wish he'd stop tweeting or being mean". My response, "then how else would you know what the Gimmedats are actually doing and saying b/c its certainly not on an propaganda network or in any newspapers."

She just nodded and blinked as if I had a purple penis sticking out of my forehead. LOL

In addition, the freebies for illegal magnets are pissing off actual moderate libs. My SIL's brother and his wife are Manhattan libs, they will NOT vote to attract more illegals or to hand them free money. The transparency on this issue is alienating people who previously thought "open borders" was GOP hyperbole.

yeah, this is a winning issue for sure. Trump is calling out the open borders nuts, and using the worst haters as the face of the Dem craziness.

But it is also the GOPe that refuses to close/control the borders, even as they won elections and won the House and Senate riding on the tea party and then on Trump's immigration/trade platform.

The country should be united around Trump's American Greatness themes, but the globalists and leftist institutions fight that tooth and nail, using their Orwellian weapons of hate and deception. Average people are being "red-pilled" via so much fake outrage.
