Update: Mitt Romney Says... Seems to Me These Women Do Have Some Anti-American Tendencies, No?

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Monday urged House Democrats to support a resolution to condemn President Trump for tweeting that four Democratic congresswomen of color should "go back" to their countries, even though all are U.S. citizens.

"The House cannot allow the President’s characterization of immigrants to our country to stand. Our Republican colleagues must join us in condemning the President’s xenophobic tweets," Pelosi wrote in a letter to House Democrats announcing a "forthcoming" resolution from Reps. Tom Malinowski (D-N.J.), who was born in Poland, Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), and other Democratic members who were born abroad.

"This weekend, the President went beyond his own low standards using disgraceful language about Members of Congress," Pelosi added. "Rather than attack Members of Congress, he should work with us for humane immigration policy that reflects American values."

There's speculation that Trump's tweets will actually work to his benefit, for precisely the reason seen above: They force Pelosi to embrace The Squad, a group of four radical, America-hating socialists who are loathed by the American public.

Omar Ilhan, for example, has a favorability rating of nine percent in the country as a whole.

If it's true that this forces Democrats into a tactical error of defending indefensible ground, people will say Trump's a genius.

I wouldn't go that far. But I'd say this: If a football's team defense does not aggressively go after the opponents' offense -- that is, if it sits back and just reacts -- the offense will work the ball down the field and make scoring look easy.

Trump does understand something that the cuck class does not or will not: That the only way to force errors, and make someone look clumsy and amateurish, is to challenge them. Pressure them.

Teams that are not pressured do not make many errors. Teams that are pressured do make errors.

The Democrat Party is used to operating in a friendly, permissive environment in which they can execute their plans and plays without counter-pressure.

They're not used to pressure.

Trump isn't a genius, I don't think. But he does have the small, tiny advantage of being right on policy, and the little advantage of grasping, intuitively, that you cannot win a game without aggression and pressure.

The cuck class does not believe in pressuring Democrats, except on largely procedural bullshit that no one really cares about. One example: Mitch McConnell permitted the Democrats to delay a vote until their sick members could rejoin Congress and vote Obamacare into law.

But Mitch McConnell didn't sell us out. He got something big in return. Remember what it was?

Of course you don't. Because it wasn't big.

McConnell's big "get" in exchange for shepherding Obamacare into law was getting Democrats to agree to hold a vote to increase the debt ceiling just before the evening news shows. This would be super-embarrassing for the Democrats, he told us, and would lead to Big Political Victories down the line.

I think we can say that history has rendered its verdict, and McConnell's big "get" was a big nothing.

Another reason the cuck class doesn't push on immigration -- an issue which has the ability to move votes in our favor -- is that they are in substantial agreement with the left on open borders.

Remember, Boehner and McConnell and the other open borders corporatists weren't against the DACA policy. They limited their objection to Obama's use of an executive order to achieve it. They wanted Congress to pass DACA.

A procedural complaint, again, while supporting the main point of the liberal amnesty agenda.

I think Trump has an amazingly high emotional intelligence for any male, but especially a very aggressive one like him.

I think he has an innate sense for what will throw people off balance, and how they'll react. When it works (which seems to be most of the time), he follows through with something else to knock them out.

I think Trump has a LOT of empathy, and unlike most people who express that trait, is willing to use it as a weapon.

That's not what gives Trump the edge. We may have had other Republican leaders with similar or better policy beliefs, but they weren't as good as Trump at being an effective leader. His instincts are sharp enough that he doesn't get burned by this too often.

Since I'm reading Chernow's Grant biography now, I keep seeing similarities in how Grant generaled and how Trump presidents.

Grant was always on the move. He hated to sit still. Even during Vicksburg and Petersburg, he was trying assaults and other ways in, even though his chokehold on the two cities were pretty airtight. It led to some needless loss of life (Cold Harbor and The Crater come to mind), but Grant ultimately won both sieges.

Trump's always on the move. He doesn't like to back down. He doesn't like to sit back. He's gotta move. It translates less well to presidenting because he has less authority over the government than Grant had over the army (as Grant realized when he himself became president), but I think the tactic can still apply, especially when considering the political realm.

Trump isn't going to win every exchange, but he's dictating where battles are fought and how they begin, that's a large part of consistently winning.

447 Since I'm reading Chernow's Grant biography now, I keep seeing similarities in how Grant generaled and how Trump presidents.

Grant was always on the move. He hated to sit still. Even during Vicksburg and Petersburg, he was trying assaults and other ways in, even though his chokehold on the two cities were pretty airtight. It led to some needless loss of life (Cold Harbor and The Crater come to mind), but Grant ultimately won both sieges.

Trump's always on the move. He doesn't like to back down. He doesn't like to sit back. He's gotta move. It translates less well to presidenting because he has less authority over the government than Grant had over the army (as Grant realized when he himself became president), but I think the tactic can still apply, especially when considering the political realm.

Trump isn't going to win every exchange, but he's dictating where battles are fought and how they begin, that's a large part of consistently winning.

But I think Trump is playing for a Republican majority in the House in the 2020 elections.

If Pelosi can "quarantine" the "squad" and isolate them from contaminating the rest of the Democrat Party, it makes it easier for the Democrats to hold the house, IMHO.

If Trump can hang them around the neck of the Democrat Party like a dead albatross, it makes the Democrats task more difficult.

They don't poll well with most of America. Sure, they may get re-elected, but go ahead. Make the Democrats defend Ilhan Omar, Ocasio-Cortez, etc.
Make the Democrats own them. Make it HARD for the Democrats to attract the centrist "uncommitted" vote.

624 I agree with a lot of this - I think Trump intuitively understands you get 100% of the things you don't ask for, and left footing the other guy, as much as possible, is a pretty sound strategy.

One other thing worth stating - The Democrat Machine has a lot of moving parts - protesters, congressman, the media. It takes time to rev up the outrage machine. In the past the Republicans have always given them plenty of time. Really, they were allowed to take all the time they needed. And they needed a lot because a) they are stupid and b) they need to hide who and what they really are.

Trump needs no time at all - he can strike fast and quick, and in any direction. He doesn't wait around to consult - what would be the point when most Republicans would hem and haw and stand around? He can up-tempo the fight. It may not be pretty, but it works.

It like a football team that decides to go to a no-huddle offense. the point is to get the defensive layers out of position, reacting instead of planning.

And like I said, the dems are not that smart, and if you make them say the first thing that pops into their idiot heads you are going to win the argument.

639 I agree with a lot of this - I think Trump intuitively understands you get 100% of the things you don't ask for, and left footing the other guy, as much as possible, is a pretty sound strategy.

One other thing worth stating - The Democrat Machine has a lot of moving parts - protesters, congressman, the media. It takes time to rev up the outrage machine. In the past the Republicans have always given them plenty of time. Really, they were allowed to take all the time they needed. And they needed a lot because a) they are stupid and b) they need to hide who and what they really are.

Trump needs no time at all - he can strike fast and quick, and in any direction. He doesn't wait around to consult - what would be the point when most Republicans would hem and haw and stand around? He can up-tempo the fight. It may not be pretty, but it works.

It like a football team that decides to go to a no-huddle offense. the point is to get the defensive layers out of position, reacting instead of planning.

And like I said, the dems are not that smart, and if you make them say the first thing that pops into their idiot heads you are going to win the argument.

658 I would tend to agree that it is not that Trump is such genius, but that he IS very shrewd; a fast learner; very disciplined; and the modern elite class is SOOOOO dense that in comparison he appears to be a genius. An example: Many years ago I attended a basic political campaigns 101 school, where we learned what is the most valuable asset any campaign has: THE CANDIDATE'S TIME. So, late in the 2016 campaign, what do we notice? Trump is spending a yuuuuge amount of time in FL, PA, WI, and MI, while Hitlery has abandoned all those northern states. Interesting use by Trump of his campaign's most valuable asset, huh? See, Trump followed Politics 101 to a T, no genius or brilliance in it, but savvy and competence, while Hitlery simply sh!t the bed utterly. This was the same approach that got GHWBush 40 states in 1988. He was no genius, either, but he was smart enough to do whatever the hell RogerAiles told him to do.
Another example: Trump early on staked out the anti-illegal-alien issue amongst the Repubs, vs the other 16. He had a lot of success with it, but not one of the others had the wit to steal it/copy him, and gain some precious, welcome poll-points? NOT ONE?! See, he followed Politics 101, and they flunked it.
But Trump's PR and public debate skills are outstanding, he really is a genius when it comes to that stuff, esp in the age of Twitter.
