187 the comments in the PJ Media article on Seth Rich almost all trash the author. The author says those believing it possible Rich was murdered as payback were duped, and fell for some Russian propaganda ... but they offer no evidence, and don't even get that story right.

It was (in theory) not to stop Seth, it was payback, and a warning to others. The emails were not hacked, they came from a thumb drive, as has long ago been proven by the transfer speeds, (and another way, that is a little more complicated). There are multiple reasons to believe Seth was the source of some of that, and Assange practically asserted it was Seth. Assange and some Australian guy both said they could prove it, but the FBI had no interest in their real evidence (too busy producing fake evidence)

There is no direct evidence on who murdered him, but it fits the MO of team Clinton or others in the Mobbed up DeepState. Snitches get Stitches. The whole "Russia stole Hillary's emails" is a lie ... and many Dems were upset that TeamHilda stole the nomination from Bernie. And Putin probably wanted reset button (and uranium seller) Hillary to win ... so if anything, they were going along with the fake Trump/Russia story.

196 Not much in the news makes me mad anymore. I always tell myself I've seen it all before.

These lickers, though.

Something obvious about this is being overlooked, or just not named for what it is.

Boiled down to their rawest essence, playground bullies, AOC, Antifa, leftists in general, are TYRANTS. Doesn't matter how small a scale on which they operate, tyranny is tyranny.

Even attempted tyranny is tyranny, the attempted imposition of your will upon those over whom you hold no authority.

These lickers are practicing a form of tyranny. The specific reasons THEY may cite for doing it doesn't matter. Bottom line is that they're imposing their wills upon everyone else (vandalism, property damage, and biohazard risk to public health is beside the point here). The couldn't give less of a damn what anyone else thinks, else they wouldn't publicize this wickedness. By doing so they are daring victims to do something about it because the tyrants think they won't or can't.

That's what all tyrants do, unless and until they're shown that they can't.

But history demonstrates that tyrants are either tolerated (and ultimately bowed to, because they never ever quit) OR they are dealt with as tyrants. There's only one way to do that: bringing great pain and great personal loss to the tyrant so the urge to tyranny is broken.

It's going to come to exactly that as more people become tyrants in everyday life because it's perceived as funny and Youtube pays you to do it. People's health, and the health of their kids, are being anonymously and unpredictably placed at risk. If anything is going to bring a (not so) disproportionate blowback that people will pretend not to have seen coming, this could well do it.

It depends on whether or not they are retarded(mentally disabled).

There are low iq people who are incapable of learning much beyond the simplest of tasks, and low iq people who are simply slow learners(or raised on things like whole word learning instead of phonics).

Not much that can be done with the mentally disabled as they are literally incapable of taking care of themselves.

You can usually distinguish the two by a simple conversation. Mentally disabled people will come off as very socially wrong for their age, the other will simply seem not terribly bright.

so I look again at the family , mom and dad, they spoke horrible English and had education levels at about same age as their could read at.

so , I have pondered often on this and wondered mystically if the information came from a previous lifetime.

Most of the important aspects of who we are aren't reducible to a gene or two. They're going to be the result of an incredibly complex interaction of genes. This is why I don't worry so much about genetic manipulation to make kids smarter or heterosexual or better athletes, etc.

People think differently. IQ tests measure certain outputs. Not understanding something can be not a product of how smart one is(which typically related to speed of learning) but rather one's particular way of looking at the world.

As a side note, bookkeeping isn't accounting. One of the first things I learned in my accounting courses.

If you wang to know whether someone is smart, just talk about something they don't already know. The more quickly they put things together the smarter they are.

It would be an interesting SF novel, if in the near future gene editing allowed countries like China to try and "uplift" their population, only to discover that the secondary and tertiary effects were very nasty (massive number of autistic children due to high intelligence, bones and ligaments that can't handle enhanced muscles, etc.) and the impact on society as a result.

Coming in 2d is Warren at 18, then Harris at 15, then Sanders at 12. Buttigieg stays at #5 and 6%.

Surprising to me is Beto polling at 1% and Gabbard at 3%.

I think the actual numbers are wildly inaccurate, but the general positioning is about right. Biden is roughly the favorite, Sanders is sinking, and Warren and Harris are rising. Buttigieg remains the SWPL candidate. Everyone else is a essentially a zero.

No contests yet so hard to say at this point. Trump's early polling was not great. He finished 2d in Iowa behind Cruz.

Biden's real problem is that the 3 behind him represent essentially the same voter pool - not a huge difference between Warren and Sanders, and Harris and Warren voters might as well flip a coin.

So he benefits from the 3 of them (and another 20!) splitting the vote - but the field will tighten.

327 I know this painting. It was included as one of El Greco's paintings in a traveling exhibition shown at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, one of the largest collections of El Greco's paintings ever shown, which included some of his best-known works.

El Greco has risen and fallen out of favor and fashion more than any other master, I think. He's often been (unfairly) compared to Titian and Rubens, who were near-contemporaries and who were both technically perfect in execution while his style is/was considered rough and near-primitive by comparison. I think the comparison and criticism are unfair because El Greco aimed for the heart while both Titian and Rubens were--in my view--more oriented to the trappings of high-art sophistication.

El Greco rocks.

337 316 No contests yet so hard to say at this point.

Posted by: blaster at July 11, 2019 10:39 AM (ZfRYq)

==========

Yeah, no votes and my "model" is probably oversimplified.

However, I just cannot see Biden pulling mid 20s support and walking away with the nomination. His support has done little else other than grow smaller since he entered the race.

And because of, what you said, that the rest of the field is fighting over the same subset of Democratic votes, there seems little room for growth for anyone until others start dropping out.

But if you're Kamala at 15% or so while no one else is more than 10 points ahead of you, do you drop out? I think that's an easy no. You could end up walking into the convention with delegates and get the second vote in your favor.

How does that work?
Posted by: ALH at July 11, 2019 10:32 AM (uLuPn)

In today's political climate - they don't. It's going to be one of the most spectacular trainwrecks since Chicago, 1968, most likely.

In the 19th Century brokered conventions could work because Political Parties really were run by a relatively small number of Political bosses (at most a few dozen) who controlled political machines in their territories and who could deliver votes for whoever they were told to deliver votes for. In that kind of system, they could get together in a smoke filled room, cut a deal that gave everyone who mattered some kind of payoff, and then they could all go out and deliver the votes they promised.

That world is long, long gone. What Democrats are trying to control now is much more like Robespierre's Mobs marching through Paris. You don't "compromise" with them, they don't cut deals. They rampage on like a pack of rabid hyenas until they burn themselves out.

They may try to "broker" a candidate at the convention, but no one is going to compromise - that convention is going to blow up like a 20 megaton nuke. They can't help themselves, that's who they are.

...

Those amniosentisis (sp?) tests are far from accurate.

We know two couples who got false positives. The did not abort, so they know the tests were wrong.

Lots of stress in-between the test and when they got the news the test was wrong (by delivering a healthy baby) though in one case the test led to a high tear in the amniotic sac and bed rest and huge risk of infection.

So that 90% elimination of down syndrome babies also swept in a whole lot of healthy babies.

Don't do those damn tests, people. They're dangerous and worthless.

403 actually, on second thought, the gene carriers are also the ones doing the aborting, so eff 'em.

that's not actually how it works, however.

it is more the result of damaged genetic material, more likely from the male side (sperm with poor morphology) because messed-up eggs don't tend to fertilize, whereas not-quite-right sperm can often still manage to fertilize an egg. worse yet if you are using fertility treatments and have undiagnosed or borderline sperm quality. your risk of chromosomal abnormalities goes way up.

OK, well that is maybe also true. Parts of life are easier for smart people ... those that struggle in school choose an alternate path to success, which is maybe social network dependent? And manipulating the social group becomes its own thang ... (the popular cheerleader or jock) whereas the more nerdy holds more altruistic values ... and hence ... the disappointments ...

I'm just tossing out the concept ... it is not from any study. Smart people can also be taught to be social -- certainly family and community involve learning important social skills.

I think this depends on what you mean by "Early Life."

School - specifically classes - are definitely easier for smart kids up to college, and that's a major part of your early life, but the social situations definitely aren't.

I suspect this results in kids self-sorting into putting more emphasis into the parts that are easier for them. A smart kid is going to spend more time studying, and doing intellectual activities because it's easier for them, so from their perspective, this is most of their early life. A social person will be spending less time doing that, but they're spending more time doing social things, so that ends up dominating their early life.

So they're both true... from a certain point of view.

Outside of organic problems, happiness is largely a choice. Many people choose to make themselves miserable by always focusing on what's wrong and ignoring anything good or writing it off as an anomaly.

If you sit around all day and bathe in doom like, er, here, you will make yourself miserable. But if you focus on the good and view progress as a process and not an end you will be happier.

It has nothing to do with intelligence. There are plenty of happy intelligent people and dumb people. It's up to the individual whether they want to be positive and happy or negative and miserable.

Choose wisely.

460 > In the 19th Century brokered conventions could work
While it's been a while since a brokered convention, it's happened a lot more recently than the 19th Century.
The most recent one (coincidentally for both parties) was 1952.
The Republicans went in with 10 candidates, of whom 5 got votes on the first ballot. Eisenhower did not have a majority on the first ballot, but after shifts he did.

The Democrats went in with 15 candidates. 16 people got votes on the first ballot (one wasn't a declared candidate). It took 3 ballots to name Adlai Stevenson, who was NOT the person who had the most votes on the first ballots (that was Estes Kefauver).

461 There are plenty of happy intelligent people and dumb people. It's up to the individual whether they want to be positive and happy or negative and miserable.

Choose wisely.

I know this has some merit, yet we find through history horrid life happenstance .

so happy if your child was abducted (or you were) happy even though millions of your tribe was murdered?

so I do find myself working through that situation/possibilies these days .

462 I do think however some people can ignore or put aside current events and look on the bright side, and that is healthier at least temporarily.

463 > Wasn't Jeb's wife originally an illegal immigrant?

Nope. He met her in Mexico while he was volunteering to build a school there.

in competitive sports, there is constant struggle, but reward. But winning is better. So in our political war, we need to stay involved, but can see evil winning much of the time (deepState, mobsters, and even worse outside USA)

I do things outside to enjoy life's glories as needed ... but that seems meaningless without being in "the spiritual/political fight" for our liberty. It is mostly a choice ... but fighting the good fight needs to make a person happy (fulfilled), regardless of the evils of the swamps. NPC "happiness" is what the left is offering, imo.

or something like that ... positive thinking, but righteous anger ... being in the competition is more rewarding than escaping ... but staying out of quagmires ... mental discipline .. also needed.
