Because unlike Democrats, the Republican message is nothing but a pack of lies. For better or worse, Dems say what they mean, while Republicans say what they think will trick us into electing them so they can govern like the liberals they really are.
When you spend decades lying about your beliefs, people necessarily won't have their hearts in it, they start lying in different directions, etc. until nobody is convinced of your lies anymore.
Trump, on the other hand, believes the things he says, and it's much more convincing.

Over at Oberlin, the story of the Libel verdict is getting better and better over the weekend! The Verdict, finding absolutely in favor of Gibson's bakery came on Friday afternoon; by Friday evening, Oberlin's General Counsel, named Varner, sent out a letter to Oberlin alumni saying that the jury ignored the evidence, and that Oberlin had done nothing that they were found by the jury to have done.
BUT... there's a procedural quirk in Ohio State Law, which is that in cases like this, the Jury first decides liability owing to the plaintiff, but then if they find that the defendants (Oberlin) are liable, then they recess and meet again later to decide whether or not to assess punitive damages. So, the trial is NOT over - the original verdict came in on Friday afternoon, and the Judge read it, and then recessed the Jury until Tuesday, when there will be a hearing on Punitive damages.

So sitting in church 1 Sunday about 109 years ago. See this gal and told my friend I'ma need some if that. I think I was going into senior year and had dumped a gf. So we meet after exchange land lines etc. So we talk and I do not find her at school all week. Then I find out she is 14 and it creeps me out.

I had the same thing happen; BUT there's a huge difference when both parties are under the age of 20, and the case when one of them is over 30. I think when I was 18 I was still about 14 years old mentally.

The real problem for the democrats is that Trump has cracked the "competence" code. Up until Trump, at least in recent times, both parties have been functionally incompetent. Trump has manifested their primal fear of him from the beginning -- that as a citizen/businessman figure of proven efficacy and accomplishment he would expose the sham of the politician/specialist.
Now that Trump has done this and shown America what is possible, the democrats, who remain grossly incompetent (as do the Republicans but who have Trump to mitigate their incompetence), have only emotional, aesthetic and base appeals left to them. So they descend further, desperately, into adolescent hortatory.

Moore was around 30 or so, when he was "courting" girls in their mid to late teens. This was socially acceptable, at the time... if that's all he was doing. Courting.
If he was sexing them, that's different. It would have never been acceptable. Not then, not now. But I think we'll never know. Which is why he's a political loss, no matter what the truth was/is. If he won't stay out of the next Senate race down there, he's a selfish bastard, and should be shunned by all.

I assume political strategizing is like military strategery (to borrow a term). Somebody somewhere has the job of doing all the "what if" scenarios, and I'm absolutely certain the Dems have a plan for if/when this happens.
They'll come out with more crime accusations against Trump, especially if they make ANY sort of gains in the Senate. I don't balance the balance is 50/50. If the number is more than 50 Republicans, the closer it gets to 50, the more likely they'll pull the trigger on impeachment.

Identity politics have come home to roost. The Democrats need to woo white male working class voters, as they found out in 2016. How are they going to do that? Are those voters going to go for any of the candidates bleating about "reparations?" I imagine that notion is anathema to them. Are they going to go for either of the homosexuals, or the crazy senile uncle in the attic?
And what will their platform be? Improving the economy? Cutting unemployment? Promoting illegal immigration (which polls right behind herpes)? Foreign policy? What?

Identity politics have come home to roost. The Democrats need to woo white male working class voters, as they found out in 2016. How are they going to do that? Are those voters going to go for any of the candidates bleating about "reparations?" I imagine that notion is anathema to them. And what will their platform be? Improving the economy? Cutting unemployment? Promoting illegal immigration (which polls right behind herpes)? Foreign policy? What?

Not to mention that if it was historical "footage" from that era, the original is on film, and had to be captured and digitized somewhere, presumably not Ewetoob.

I remember one of our biggest laughs in boyscouts was when the boys and their fathers in our troop were able to go out on a water skiing excursion together. A friend's dad was a salesman, always put a lot of effort into Looking Good (in the 70's style) so we all fell out laughing for what seemed like hours when he got out there on the water skis and his hair, which had looked perfect up until then, was suddenly this long curtain hanging down to his shoulder on one side with a great big shiny bald dome on top. And he didn't realize it!

How can anything uploaded to Ewetoob be "lost"? All they ever get from the uploaders is a copy, and the original still resides in the hard drive of the computer from which it was uploaded.
Not to mention that if it was historical "footage" from that era, the original is on film, and had to be captured and digitized somewhere, presumably not Ewetoob.

A good lesson there for all of us - NEVER trust any private outfit to keep anything you really want to keep, "secure". Maybe they'll be malevolent, or maybe they'll just be incompetent and go out of business and they'll all be gone. (happened to a photo archive I set up once)
But point is, if you really value something, anything, make sure to preserve it YOURSELF. All of this "cloud" stuff - one of these days, we'll all wake up and that "cloud" will be nothing but blue sky with nothing in it.

I hope the Dutch government is better about that than my company... we don't keep backups of our videos at all... G-d forbid YT deplatforms us for some reason. But that's just marketing crap, not important historical archives. I bet they do keep copies of that.

I hope the Dutch government is better about that than my company... we don't keep backups of our videos at all... G-d forbid YT deplatforms us for some reason. But that's just marketing crap, not important historical archives. I bet they do keep copies of that.

I believe there are a number of the individuals who Youtube has deplatformed, who have basically lost all their content. Just gone.
It never occurred to some of these folks to save their stuff elsewhere. Right or wrong, once Youtube killed it, there were no backups anywhere else that could be later uploaded somewhere else.

I feel like it doesn't bode real well for our society that politics is so much about "who is the cool kid that you'd be thrilled to eat lunch with" I understand that the only other thing the Dems have is stirring up envy and promising to take stuff from those who have prospered and give it to the loudest whiners. But I just don't like that so many voters still buy into the BS. BJ Clinton was this cool sax player before we had the ultimate cool dude in Obama. They could not, even with all of HW and the MFM, package HRC as cool so they just had to paint DJT as buffoon, rich playboy who leaves women strewn in his wake etc and failed at that.
But its just weird that so people think 'cool will mean good leadership'. I have bosses that are cool, fun to have a beer with, guys. But they are not good at actually managing, only at pressing the flesh with the sponsors; other people end up having to step in to take care of actually keeping the group on track to meet deadlines and such.

The dyes in the burnable or rewritable ones are not meant to last forever. I think the best ones claim 50 years or so? Cheap ones in the CDRom era claimed only 10 years; I haven't kept up though. Maybe they're better now.
The metal "permanent" discs should be good for longer, if they're not mis-manufactured in a way that lets air in to the metal part. Then it oxidizes and they stop working. But nobody stores "personal" data on metal CD/DVD/BR discs.

To me, it's not even worth arguing anymore. I've worked directly with addicts, and from that perspective, the ones who are causing exponentially more destruction are NOT the alcohol users, but the opiate and cocaine and now meth users.
Of course, there are vastly more alcoholics than there are other types of addicts, and a significantly higher percentage of them never reach treatment programs, so the data is not clear. Anecdotal at best, and wildly inaccurate assumptions at worst.

Recently spent an evening around a campfire listening to Seattle liberals discussing politics. Everyone had their favorite: injun, bernie, commieala, even gaymayor. But then they started talking electability and everyone got sad, sighed and moaned about having to vote for Biden.

have this beat. When I was barely 17, I met a girl patron while I was lifeguarding. Sweet blond with ginormous knockers. She tells me she is almost 16. I get her number and later call her up for a date. I show up at her house and her mother answers the door. We have a polite conversation where she tells me the girl not yet 13. Seriously. She was 12. The mother was apologetic and said that she told people that she is 16 all the time.
I thanked her and beat a hasty retreat.

Yud, you were fortunate, I never had them seek help themselves, and those I tried to interfere and find help, played the game to get what they wanted in the short term.. but ive read meth has a 78 percent residivism rate. I imagine it is what time period and what drug is the trend for that period.

It's even worse than that now. The "treatment in the community" crap fostered by the Democrats has now been enshrined in a 1975 Supreme Court decision that effectively guts involuntary institutionalization.
Presumably only a Constitutional amendment (good luck) or more likely, a revisit by the Supremes can undo the damage and reverse the decision.
