Judge Rules that Jussie Smollett Case, Sealed by Corrupt Prosecutor, Must Be Unsealed

Thanks to Tami.

Seriously though if you want to use that argument, you just outlawed all abortion. If we don't know when human life begins, then the right thing to do is to never end the process at any point. It is clearly not to just let it keep happening.

233 144 One school of thought is that in the creation of the present, the past is irrevocably destroyed and it is not a "place" that can be returned to. Kind of a depressing notion. "

Actually, that is the dominant thought if you look at existence from a scientific, mathematical point of view. Existence is a state of permanent "Now". It is always "Now", everywhere, and it will never be anything but "Now".

We can envision what we call the past because we have intelligence and memory, and that allows us to witness the Passage of Time; but that doesn't make "the past" a real place anymore than talking about going Through the Looking Glass makes it a real place. Same thing goes for the future - now since, due to "time", we are constantly moving into the future, we can anticipate it, but when we get there it will still always be "now".

Nothing in this universe has any actual existence except "Now". Note: for theological issues, note that most Religions agree that God, or whatever he may be called, exists Outside of this universe, but is able to interact with it, thus being free from the limitations of beings that ar wholly of this universe. Ideas of this nature could never be proved because it's logically impossible for anything in THIS universe to be able to prove the existence of anything NOT in this universe.

250 You could say the exact same thing about Christians who want to go to Heaven.

Try again.
---------------
The problem for Christians desire for Heaven is solved by suicide not sadism. Because of this fork the Catholic Church quickly made suicide a mortal sin.

If you think a life is headed for reincarnation as some lower creature there is no prohibition in sending that life to the retread factory. Doing so does not hurt your chances for escaping life.

Posted by: Puddin Head at May 23, 2019 02:45 PM (2LelM)

Not at all.

The problem for Christians desire for Heaven is solved by last minute redemption and acceptance of Christ. Not suicide.

This gives anyone license to anyone to live any kind of life (including that of the sadist) because they got the out of saying - Forgive me, Oh Lord Jesus Christ. I accept you as my savior and -ZOOOP! into Heaven.

The same chance of escaping life without punishment exists.

Try again.

You need to abandon you Underpants Gnome Logic of:

1) Belief in Reincarnation

2)????????

3) Sadism!!!

252 One school of thought is that in the creation of the present, the past is irrevocably destroyed and it is not a "place" that can be returned to. Kind of a depressing notion.
Posted by: Max Power

In one sense, if one accepts time as a dimension, "now" is a cross-section of reality at a given point. That an object is not present in that cross-section does not invalidate its presence in the all, simply that it is absent from that cross-section.

That said, entropy as "time's arrow" suggests that time may only move in one direction, which we know as "forward". You cannot unscramble an egg, you cannot unmix paints, you cannot go back in time. This creates great headaches in any review of scientifically plausible FTL travel, as they usually imply an ability to effectively travel backwards in time. Not even going to get into causality here.

263 If you think a life is headed for reincarnation as some lower creature there is no prohibition in sending that life to the retread factory. Doing so does not hurt your chances for escaping life.

Moral acts you commit in this life affect how you reincarnate in the next life, according to most faiths that include this idea. Like in Hinduism, act evil in this life, then you come back as a lower creature on the ladder and have to work your way up. Since suicide is for selfish gain, you end up lower, not higher.

271 The problem for Christians desire for Heaven is solved by last minute redemption and acceptance of Christ.

OK, this is a bollocks misread of it. Forgiveness is extended to all who accept it, yes, but atonement and sincere acceptance is part of the deal. It's not magic words. (Sadly I've known "Christians" who treated it as such and were thus pretty horrid human beings. Doesn't change the fact that they're doing it wrong.)

As I recall, the evil President-wannabe, Greg Stillson, was played by Martin Sheen . . . who would later play a Dem president on The West Wing, and had earlier played Bobby Kennedy in TV's The Missiles of October. So, yeah.

Besides, I think King published The Dead Zone a year or more before Reagan became president, so if he thought RR woul dbe elected, he was eerily prescient.

Horror needs rules. They don't have to be logical (the supernatural can still rule) but you have to know what the characters can expect to happen. If only to subvert it.

Drama and tension comes from when the rules are broken or threatened. Like not turning on the lights in the dark room or taking down the garlic from the window sill.

there a pretty hilarious comic book (graphic novel), titled-

a hit man goes back in time to kill Hitler but messes up and Hitler escapes to our time.

Available at amazon.

Also, there's a pretty good book about preventing the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand to prevent all the problems that followed ie. Nazsi Germany, titled-

"Time After Time" by Ben Elton.

Very well written but warming! Elton is a flaming commie and that comprises a large bit of the plot.

Sorry, but I respectfully disagree. It's just too easy to really hurt somebody either at second or at the plate. If the ball is late, the fielder is a sitting duck, totally defenseless if he's actually trying to catch the ball.

If you allow those collisions, then you should also remove defensive pass interference from football, for the same reason.

496 And with the breaking of this seal seven angels are given seven bowls of God's wrath, each consisting of judgements full of the wrath of God.

When the first bowl is poured out, foul and painful sores come upon those bearing the mark of the beast and those who worship the image of the beast.

When the second bowl is poured out, the seas and the oceans become blood as of a dead man, forcing everything in the sea to die.

When the third bowl is poured out, the rivers and the remaining sources of water turn to blood. The angels then begin praising God's holy judgments.

When the fourth bowl is poured out, the sun causes a major heatwave to scorch the planet with fire. The incorrigible wicked refuse to repent while they blaspheme the name of God.

When the fifth bowl is poured out, a thick darkness overwhelms the kingdom of the beast. The wicked continue to stubbornly defame the name of God while refusing to repent and glorify God.

When the sixth bowl is poured out, the great river Euphrates dries up so that the kings of the east might cross to be prepared to battle. Three unclean spirits with the appearance of frogs come, one each, out of the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. These demonic spirits work Satanic miracles to gather the nations of the world to battle against the forces of good during the Battle of Armageddon. Jesus says that his coming will be like that of a thief in the night, urging his followers to stay alert.

When the seventh bowl is poured out, a global earthquake causes the cities of the world to collapse. All the mountains and islands are removed from their foundations. Giant hailstones weighing nearly 100 pounds plummet onto the planet. The plagues are so severe that the wicked's hatred of God intensifies while the incorrigible continue to curse God and Jussie Smollett returns to Empire.
