He's quick to point out that he's in favor of immigration and isn't a racist, but he just doesn’t want those people being set loose in his community.

I was thinking of spending about $150 or $200 for a Garmin, but they all have very mixed reviews at Amazon.
Finally I said screw it and bought one of those things that will hold my cell phone up (it has Maps) on the dashboard of my car. Testing it now at home and it works perfectly. Cost me $11, so I saved at least $139 by just buying this holder thingy and not getting a Garmin.
As Chuck Mangione used to say on King Of The Hill about MegaLoMart, "saving money feels... so... good!" :-)

The advantage of Garmin products is that all of their maps are actually on the device. Almost everything else actively downloads the maps as they go.
So, if you're in a place with bad cell service, your phone could end up not being able to download the required map.

I thought the biggest cause of the trash pile up was two fold:
The city mandating that the amount of trash produced be reduced to reduce the impact on landfills
And removing the ability of the public to choose who they contracted with to remove their trash, and instead granting monopoly contracts to various geographic areas.

Imagine, just for a second, how much better life could be - if States kept their politics within the bounds of their own State, and Cities kept their politics within their own City Limits. That was one of the cornerstones of the founding of the Republic. And it's loss is one of the main reasons why this Republic has already fallen.
I blame a lot of people and a lot of legislation for this. The Civil Rights Act. The Supreme Court's notion of Incorporation. The South firing on Fort Sumpter. Wilson, FDR, and LBJ. But mostly ... I blame everyday people in both Red and Blue areas, using Politics so they can "fix" things in areas they don't even live in.
Things were better in the old, old days ... when you had to at least draw a sword or a gun and assume some personal risk to enforce your will on someone else. Doing it via Ballot and Lawyer is a coward's way - and it emboldens entirely too many cowards.

And even though the company is supposed to pick up once a week, with extra pick ups being scheduled as needed, suddenly pick ups are missed, and extra pick ups take weeks to be scheduled, instead of days.
Yeah, the homeless are a problem, but I don't think they are the true driver of this trash problem.

I was living in the Back Bay area of Boston during much of the Big Dig. The tunnel runs along the waterfront and my place was about 3/4 of a mile away.
Once they started digging they disturbed the water rats that started migrating to other parts of the city. We had giant rats come out at night and roam the neighborhood until the city finally decided they should probably do something about it.
Some of them were the size of cats.

That movie is just pure Technicolor fun.
Mrs and I got to see this movie in an old time theater last June. Sound was too loud and fluctuated a lot but it was great.

Yep. And the cherry on top is the original Horowitz investigation of the Hillary email issue was started by two Democrats, Elijah Cummings and John Conyers.
They wanted to discover who was supposedly leaking information about that investigation and ended up with an enormous own goal.

The white working class voted for Donald Trump and doesn't have enough money to purchase the "virtue credits" needed to offset their whiteness like progressives do. In the minds of progressives this offset gives progressives the right to live out their lives in peace in wealthy gated communities.
This situation allows wealthy progressives not only to feel virtuous but to feel smug as well. They feel this way because as they all say at their fund raiser parties, this is what you get for voting for Donald Trump. The homeless, the medieval mess, the rats and flees and the white working class are just props in a progressive morality play. Whatever they say, just remember this : they hate this country and they hate you. As far as progressives are concerned the homeless are shitting on the right people and that's all that matters to progressives.
