Exile Games: The Chicago Cubs Ban a Fan For Playing the Circle-Punch Game
People say this game was created by Malcolm in the Middle, but my (possibly fallible) memory tells me it predates that.
I'm sure you know the game. You make a circle with your forefinger and thumb and you place it somewhere just out of the view of the person you're playing with (though that person doesn't know he's playing until he's told he's playing). You put the circle on your belt, on the table, on a cork-board you pretend you want him to check out. If he looks at the circle, he loses, and you either tell him he's lost or -- the manlier version -- you get to punch him in the shoulder. Literally everyone knows this game but the vicious godless Satanic Puritans have decided that a circle made with the finger and thumb is now a White Power symbol because 4chan pranksters hoaxed them into thinking it was and now have a zero tolerance policy for the circle game, and the normal "OK" sign. A guy at a Cubs game played the circle game with all the viewers watching it. He's now banned for life.The point is we don't know for sure, but what we do know for sure is the okay hand gesture, and this is significant, ISN'T RACIST AT ALL, it's an internet meme designed to mock false accusations of racism. The idea that the okay sign -- which is used by people all over the world to signify that things are okay, celebrate three point shots, and also make you look if it's flashed below the waist -- is a symbol of white supremacists grew out of the dark corners of the Internet as a prank. The Cubs should spend a little time reviewing what happened to Nascar when they started dictating to fans what they could display on their infield campers, etc. A couple of years of that and suddenly Nascar is removing huge sections of stands each year for a better look on TV. The decline finally started to reverse when Brian France was arrested for DUI and Oxy possession and Jim France,his uncle took over and a lot of the SJW nonsense went away.
A good example of how to destroy a sport by treating your fans as your wards instead of guests who support you.

She's actually doing a cover of a 50's jazz standout song, but what I adore about it is that her voice does the jazz inflections and quick little riffs that nobody else had ever gotten close to before - it truly is an absolutely brilliant interpretation of the song! And it's funny, too.

always been about "conform to whatever we say is the new thing" without
regard for whether it's sane or contradicts what they said yesterday.
How can anyone with two functioning brain cells to rub together take any of that seriously? Are there really that many people who cannot think for themselves and will blindly follow stuff that doesn't make sense?

So in other words:

In the BBC article about this, they cite the Navy guy reprimanded/fired for making the symbol in a photo, without ever noting that it was later determined that he wasn't making a white power symbol at all, just resting his hand in a unusual position at random. The later debunking of that story is irrelevant, and it goes down in history as an example of the symbol spreading like wildfire throughout society.
