On the rare occasions when it flares into panic (I have no idea what causes it, there's no rhyme or reason) I walk it off and talk myself down before it goes full-blown.

But you can do none of those things in your sleep, which is where night terrors come from.

But I was fighting off a cold on Saturday and the panic attack made me feel like I was about to die. That was a whole 'nother level. I was with two of my kids and had to kind of hide it from them. The nerve damage in my left hand had to flare up and I thought it was a "sign." Hahahah!!!

She had her purse stolen of the front seat of her car while she was loading groceries in the trunk. She chased the perp in his car and fell. She emailed everyone we know telling us all she was suffering PTSD.

I offered to bring her and her husband dinner that night, and she proceeded to make demands because "no carbs, teenaged son is lactose intolerant, we really don't want anything with meat," etc. Then she said, "Why don't you just have us over Friday night for a nice dinner with wine?" I 'splained to her that my husband was in ATL with his dying aunt, and wouldn't be home. She never even said she was sorry about the aunt.

She went on and on in mass texts to everyone about "I HAVE PTSD!!" until I said, "I have a son who has actually suffered from PTSD after being injured in war. I'm a little sensitive about everyone using the term for everything that happens in their lives."

Welp, she went off on me, and even after I apologized for upsetting her, she wants nothing more to do with me. This, after she and her husband and woke hell spawn have been guests in my home more times than I can count.

I feel better that she's out of my life.

I rarely have night terrors anymore and the only time I worry about panic attacks is when I am on the freeway and there are no exits.

That's when numb hands and tunnel-vision can hurt others. I'll get over it any other time, normally.

In fact, I suspect it's the opposite. Whenever I'm under a lot of pressure or in physical danger, the anxiousness goes away completely.

I had a friend who got them. Her husband told me if she's ever with you and has one, make her count backwards from 100 by 7's. I guess it causes your brain to refocus or something.

I learned to control those, with very rare exceptions, as a kid. It's just the occasional one at night these days, and boy do those ever suck. Mostly because you're completely exhausted the next day.
