Kim Foxx's Top Ethics Officer and Conviction Integrity Officer Resign in Wake of Corrupt Smollett Whitewash

The article doesn't say they resigned in protest of that corrupt swindle-- but it's hard to avoid that conclusion.

Two officials have resigned from their positions in the office of Cook County, Illinois, State’s Attorney Kim Foxx in the wake of her decision to drop charges against disgraced "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett.

April Perry, Foxx's chief ethics officer, and Conviction Integrity Director Mark Rotert have both tendered their resignations and will serve their last days on the job in May.

...

Perry, Cook County's first ethics officer, initially encouraged Foxx to recuse herself from the Smollett case after learning that she had spoken about the case to members of the actor's family

Of course, she did not recuse herself. She merely told the public that she was recusing herself, while retaining authority over the case (and meddling in it).

She would later explain that she recused herself "colloquially," which is not a thing that actually exists.

Nah. Low-flush toilets vary GREATLY in their capabilities.

We have a Geberit in-wall setup in our master bathroom, where the tank is two feet up in the wall above the bowl. Geberit tank, Duravit bowl.

We have a Toto thing in one of our other bathrooms, more conventional floor-mount with integral tank.

In fifteen years the Duravit has plugged...maybe twice, and a second flush usually clears it.

The Toto plugs basically once every five times it's used.

I'm not necessarily saying all Totos are bad, but we're about to remodel another bathroom and, aside from staggering the wall studs to minimize sound transmission out of the bathroom, it's gonna get another wall-hung Duravit.

146 Psalm 55

My heart is in anguish within me, the terrors of death have fallen upon me.

Fear and trembling come upon me, and horror overwhelms me.

And I say, O that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest; yea, I would wander afar, I would lodge in the wilderness, I would hasten to find me a shelter from the raging wind and tempest.

Destroy their plans, O Lord, confuse their tongues; for I see violence and strife in the city.

Day and night they go around it on its walls; and mischief and trouble are within it, ruin is in its midst; oppression and fraud do not depart from its marketplace.

It is not an enemy who taunts me - then I could bear it; it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me - then I could hide from him.

But it is you, my equal, my companion, my familiar friend.

We used to hold sweet converse together; within God ' s house we walked in fellowship.

Yeah. I mean there are genuine casualties of disaster, real people who lost their homes because things went terribly wrong out of their control. Fire, financial collapse, horrendous illnesses, etc. There are vets out there without a home because they can't make that transition back to the world quite right.

But the vast majority are addicts, retards, and lunatics. I dealt with homeless a lot when I was younger and clerk ta a downtown convenience store (bodega, for the New Yorkers). Most of them were nice enough people and fine to get along with but they were all damaged and troubled people. Most of them were in and out of prison or mental hospitals. Even the nicest, kindliest ones would rip you off in an instant.

Yeah, that's kind of the dividing line; punk is deliberately awful because its a thumb in the eye of squares and the music scene at the time of the late 70s. That's why bands like The Clash barely qualify: they were just too good.

Buttplug raises another issue: there's a reason why the Bible inveighs against perversions generally. No need to invoke any mystical or religious origin for that. It's because the Bible represents the distillate of a lot of human experience on how to live, and over the eons humans had noticed that perversions spread disease, just as adultery, theft, bearing false witness (yeah, I'm looking at the MSM here) and murder all weaken society.

Engaging in any of those behaviors is a recipe for misery, sooner or later. As we are seeing today.

I suspect that people who really are struck down by cruel fate typically get back on their feet in fairly short order. My wife's cousin married an abusive drunken asshole, then she got leukemia, at which point the asshole bailed out and she had to live in a shelter and was on welfare.

But then she went back to school, completed a nursing degree, now has a good job, a new good husband, and a good life.

But I suspect the converse is also true. People who create their own problems will continue to do so - no matter what - until they change themselves. The difference between, e.g., Christina Onassis or any of the Kennedys and the bums and vagrants boils down to the former have a lot of money, but otherwise they're pretty much the same.

244 There's a book, "Scratch Beginnings" where a young man decided to see if he could actually get off the street through using services readily available. Not surprisingly, he succeeded.

Yeah its possible, but you have to want to and be willing to do what it takes, and that's where the blockage starts. They have to clean up, get work they don't want to do, lay off the drugs and booze, etc. And that's stuff they won't do.

You can tell the ones who are willing because they get off the streets. There's tons of help out there available, both private and public. This isn't Victorian London where you're living in Seven Dials and have no hope.

Hell even back then there were charities and churches and private people helping.

249 The weird thing is that the Go-Go's started as punk. Their first album was just thrash punk. Then they turned into America's sweethearts, which cracked them up no end.

I don't remember a first album, but I do remember (and have) early EPs.

They decided to make money. The Bangles were the Bangs before they decided to throw over and go for the bucks, got their early 45s too.

253 there's a reason why the Bible inveighs against perversions generally. No need to invoke any mystical or religious origin for that. It's because the Bible represents the distillate of a lot of human experience on how to live, and over the eons humans had noticed that perversions spread disease, just as adultery, theft, bearing false witness

In the prologue to Milton's Paradise Lost, he says, paraphrasing, he wrote it to explain the ways of God to man. I think he got backwards, or at least sideways. In mythology, Hera hated Hercules because he was Zeus' illegitimate son and so she sent two snakes to kill him in his crib. Perhaps her hatred was not logical, or divine, but it sure was human. The Bible, too, explains the ways of men to men. And no amount of Communist Manifesto will change that.

Yeah, it's amazing how little graffiti, littering, drug dealing, and prostitution take place in Beverly Hills, La Jolla, Pacific Heights, etc.

Well, maybe high-end prostitution, but not crackhead skank on the street corner-type prostitution.

From what I understand, it's more than that.

Conservatives lost law schools decades ago, and with that loss we lost an organizational structure to develop conservative lawyers and (by extension) justices. This lack of an organizational structure led to a certain atrophy in conservative legal thought.

Something like 25 years ago, that began to change. I think The Federalist Society is one of the earliest examples of the new conservative legal organization fostering conservative lawyers now, but it took a long time to get them in a place where they could be highly influential in the same league as places like Harvard Law and Yale Law naturally exist.

Now, with Trump using The Federalist Society to staff the judiciary, a massive tide is turning within the 3rd branch of government. It goes way way beyond SCOTUS. Originalism is likely to become the dominant legal theory on constitutional matters for a few generations because of the combination of The Federalist Society, Mitch McConnell, and Donald Trump.

In industry the company once caused uproar by saying it would pay Christmas bonuses the paycheck after the traditional one. I had direct reports who were incensed by this, because they'd been counting on the bonus to pay their bills. I was astonished: these people were making six figure salaries, and most had Ph.D.s. Yet they were living hand-to-mouth in a city with a low cost of living.

Amazing.
