Saturday Morning Coffee Break

weekend-morning-awesomeness-36-photos-56-2-23.jpg

How about you?

***

Of course you're going to get a coffee meme.

isatmage001.jpg

***

Now, let's take a gander at a few things that didn't get too much attention here at the AoSHQ this past week.

  • Coffee addict leads cops on low speed chase.

  • Today's health tip.

  • In need of serious rubber room time.

  • Everything you wanted to know about throwing an ax but were afraid to ask.

  • Who needs a PIN when you have Heavy Equipment?

  • No word what variety of drugs and/or alcohol they had consumed.

  • Nicholas Cage's next wife?

  • This couple is all wet.

  • Really have it your way.

  • Being a dumb shit also equates to a Genius Award.

Enjoy these stories or something else in this open thread. Remember the rules: The 'ettes don't have cooties, no running with sharp objects and if you finish the coffee make a fresh pot. And, have a great weekend!!!!

19 The key to axe throwing, well at least the target part, is to put it on a stand that absorbs most of the impact if a handle or something other than the blade hits it. That's what I've seen. I guess they do it in bars now, hipster darts pretty much. But it works better outside.

41 I was just spending a bit of time looking at the final Israeli elections results - after all that talk from the MSM as to how "Bibi is on the way out!" "His tries with Trump are ruining his chances!""Bibi is going to be indicted!" and finally "It's Neck and Neck, Too Close to Call!"

And in fact, now that all the votes are counted: Not only did Netanyahu win, but Israel has elected the most Right Wing government in it's entire history, and the Left has been absolutely and unbelievably crushed. Funny how the MSM never saw that coming? And now that's just "old news", they don't want to talk about it anymore.

Partly it's hidden by Israel's convoluted parliamentary system - Netanyahu's party, Likud, got 36 seats out of the 120. (last election they only received 30)

Final Results, which the MSM don't want to talk about:

    Netanyahu's conservative coalition - 65 votes
Centrist parties (Blue and White) - 35 votes
    Leftists & Labor - 10 votes
Arab Parties (who hate everyone else no matter what) - 10 votes

Wow, that looks like a real Neck and Neck horserace of an election there, sure does. I only dream we can do something similar here in 2020.

I'm on the 1 California, and in Chinatown an elderly lady tries to board with a live chicken under her arm. The driver stops her. She can't ride with the live chicken.

So she backs down the steps (bus had steps those days), takes the chicken by the neck, waves the chicken around her head breaking the chickens neck. Feathers flying. She sticks the chicken in her bag and boards the bus.

    Fin.

The punchline occurs to me first (usually). The rhyming of 1, 2 and 5 is simple word association, trying to establish a topical linkage. Lines 3 & 4 are thrown in last, almost as a verbal punctuation. Then I tweak the meter with appropriate synonyms aand filler words, check my spelling and then hit "Post". It's more fun and challenging to me than posting "Hillary sucks" 50 times a day

A little range time w/Taurus G2 9mm (black Fri 2017 purchase. Buy one, get one free! Only in Texas) this week, and it's taking the number one spot on my fav list.
It's been flawless w/whatever brand ammo, fits my hand rather nicely, and makes holes where I point. Even better, the finish (tan coating) has held up remarkably well - it looks brand new.
Simply can't get over how well this low priced sidearm functions and handles. Shouldn't be this good...

Vinita was, and I suppose still is, the location for the main state mental hospital. As kids in the politically incorrect mid-20th Century, we'd say, "You're going to Vinita" as a taunt.

They call it a "mental health facility" now, and I don't suppose they use the extra-long-sleeve jackets and electroshock... as much... nowadays. But it's still crazy. Uh, I mean, differently psychologied.

I think Scott Adams has it right on the gun control argument.

So it seems to me that gun control can't be solved because Democrats are using guns to kill each other - and want it to stop - whereas Republicans are using guns to defend against Democrats. Psychologically, those are different risk profiles. And you can't reconcile those interests, except on the margins.

231 As we now know, in sworn testimony given in the United Kingdom, not even Christopher Steele would vouch for the dossier's accuracy. And equally damaging, in testimony before Congress, FBI lawyer Lisa Page stated that, contrary to standard FBI procedure in counterintelligence operations, the Trump campaign, purportedly the target of Russian infiltration, had not been warned of the Kremlin's nefarious efforts because the FBI did not deem the Steele dossier reliable enough to compel such a warning.

Page's testimony sets up an irresistible line of inquiry. If the dossier was not reliable enough to justify a warning to Trump's campaign about the Kremlin's plot, how could it even remotely serve as the basis for obtaining FISA warrants to spy on the campaign? By her benighted testimony, Page has framed the issue nicely and invited a full vetting of who, what, where, when, why, and how the dossier was used to dupe the FISA court.

Gas physics is funny. If you have powerful evacuator fans at the target end, four guys with black powder can create a miasmic haze with tunnels in it. You can see down the tunnels, but nothing else in the room.

But kids that inherit seem to just want the cash, or maybe they move away and rent, so the money is sucked out of the community. Why should we be reverent about an event where some people just did some things?

The only significant thing about that 9/11 thing was that it led to muslims like me being denied our civil rights!

What rights were we denied? Well the constitutional right not to have somebody look at you in a way that you don't like, that's what!

And if you're not familiar with that constitutional right, it was established in the Trayvon Martin case: he had a constitutional right to jump on and beat George Zimmerman because he perceived that Zimmerman was looking at him with suspicion, and Trayvon didn't like that!

And yes, I know that the Trayvon Martin case happened years after that 9/11 thing, but so what? We muslims don't like it when people look at us and wonder if we're going to blow shit up or start shooting. Just because a lot of us do that kinda thing (giggles).

So stop violating our civil rights just because we've murdered a lot of you people, you buncha bigots and islamophobes!

414 anyone with a decent job that saved money, and trusted BigGov to keep the stock market churning ever upward (even with funny money, and screwing American workers, and bailouts for billionaires, etc.) ... they are sitting on millions in paper profits.

So it makes sense to go buy some nice toys. I just wish they would buy American, and especially invest in their local community. But people in big cities don't think that way. And people is smaller cities have much of their money sent to bigger cities ... banking, investing, major corp HQs ... all runs through the fingers of BigBiz.

And when they want to save and invest, that money goes through globalist fingers, and invest in China ... other places. Tax incentives for smaller property owners might help, but most of that big money has come off stock market manipulation by EasyMoney policy. Not sure how it ends.

439 @427 The Worst President Ever promised that his policies would end that recession, and they did. No wonder you ever hear of it, or, anymore, him.

A lot of folks just didn't pay attention in whatever they had instead of econ and history, even in junior high. As you're living through this stuff, there are all sorts of scary little depressions, and war scares too. Looking back through the lens of smart-assed columnists 30 or more years later, they all smooth out.

In the 70's, I used to stop a lot of snotnose young college instructors dead in their tracks when they'd get going on the fantasy of that age, the fat lazy over-prosperous Fifties. I was there. Did not apply in my neighborhood.

It became "A Thing" around four years ago. It has bled over into sports, as well. Matte football helmets and baseball helmets have been around for at least three years.

441 If it's perpetual protest, then it stops being a protest. It just becomes a way of life.

    IT'S PARIS.

443 427 Funny thing is, there actually was a depression in 1920, which is when the scandal broke. We don't hear much about that depression because the government did nothing and let the economy sort itself out. It was over in a year, and then came the economic boom of the Roaring 20's.
Posted by: rickl at April 13, 2019 11:24 AM (sdi6R)

    ____

True. However, the word depression used to mean what we no call a recession. Hence the term GREAT Depression for the 1930s.

After WW2 the word recession was used because the word depression was too much of a bummer.

So the fact that there was a depression in 1920, really means there was a slight economic downturn, and not what we think of now when we hear the term depression.

446 I'm old enough to remember when McDonalds was "this is what we make. You don't like it, tough."

Then Burger King showed up with "Have it Your Way." Wasn't long before I could get a ketchup-only burger at McDonalds, too.

A lot of things have changed over the years. Used to be at McDonalds they had racks of burgers and things, and pulled one off when you ordered. Orders were filled instantly, because this was before custom orders. I had a friend who worked at McDonalds back then, and he talked about how religious they were about how long something could stay in the rack, and how much food they had to toss because of it.
