Charles Grassley: Robert Mueller Completely Misrepresented Trump Campaign Email, Butchering the Missive So That It Suggested a Willingness to Consider Talking to Russia, When the Full Email Stated They Did Not Want to Talk to Russia

This is just further proof of Jonah "Both Sides" Goldberg's thesis that "both sides" are wrong about the Russia hoax.

Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley accused the special counsel's office of mischaracterizing Trump campaign emails in a way that suggested Trump advisers were eager to meet with Russians.
In a newly released letter from 2017, Grassley accused Robert Mueller’s team of feeding "speculation and innuendo" in court filings in 2017 in the case against George Papadopoulos.
The letter takes on new significance in the wake of reports that Mueller prosecutors were upset over Attorney General William Barr's characterization of the findings of the 22-month long probe.
The special counsel’s office fed "speculation and innuendo" about possible collusion with Russia by withholding key details from emails cited in a court filing in the case of former Trump adviser George Papadopoulos, a top Republican senator alleged in a newly released letter.

Prosecutors quoted from several emails in a way that suggested top Trump campaign officials were eager to meet with Russians. But Grassley asserted that the full emails showed that campaign officials rebuffed the idea of meeting with Russians. The Iowa Republican took Mueller's team to task for failing to correct news reports that cited the Papadopoulos court filings as evidence of possible collusion with Russia.

Grassley sent a letter to Barr on March 8 asking the attorney general to look into the special counsel's "selective use" of emails in the Papadopoulos "statement of offense."
The full October 2017 letter to Mueller was not made public until Fox News published it on Thursday.
In the letter to Mueller, Grassley pointed to two sections of the Papadopoulos "statement of offense" that quoted from emails sent on May 4, 2016 and Aug. 15, 2016.
In the May 4 email, Papadopoulos wrote to others on the Trump campaign that Russia "has been eager to meet Mr. Trump for quite sometime and have been reaching out to me to discuss."
Mueller's team quoted from an email response from Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who wrote: "We need someone to communicate that DT is not doing these trips. It should be someone low level in the campaign so as not to send any signal."
Numerous news outlets reported that the passage showed that Manafort wanted a low-level campaign adviser to meet with Russians. But Grassley said that other emails sent by Manafort’s deputy, Rick Gates, show that he was asserting that a low-level adviser should be the person to reject requests to meet with Russians.
"Agree. What if I get our correspondence coordinator to do it. This is the person responding to all mail of non-importance. It would be a general letter," Gates wrote.
Manafort replied: "good."
Grassley also faulted Mueller's team for misrepresenting email exchanges involving Sam Clovis, another Trump campaign official.
The statement of offense quoted from an Aug. 15, 2016 email in which a campaign supervisor, later identified as Clovis, told Papadopoulos that "I would encourage you" to "make the trip, if it is feasible."
But Grassley said the rest of the email makes clear that Papadopoulos asked Clovis to join him on conversations with representatives from several foreign governments, including "the UK, Greek, Italian and even Russian government."
Clovis declined the invitation and wrote in other emails that any potential meetings with Russians would have to follow meetings first with Western allies.
"My thought is that we probably should not go forward with any meetings with the Russians until we have had occasion to sit with our NATO allies, especially France, Germany and Great Britain," wrote Clovis. "We need to reassure our allies that we are not going to advance anything with Russia until we have everyone on the same page."

Let's say I'm a republican living in Colorado and Colorado is carried by republicans. If Colorado then throws it's electors to the winner of the popular election, I've been disenfranchised. MY vote has just been given to the barrios of Los Angles and the ghettos of the Bronx.

Eric Holder can scheme this up all day, but it's in violation of the Constitution. Had the framers wanted a direct democracy, they would have built one.

The only way that changes is to get 2/3 of both the house and the senate to propose an amendment and then for 3/4 of the states to vote themselves serfs of California and NYC.

I think technically speaking the state can award electors however it wants. Moreover, the electors can disregard the wishes of the state government and vote how they want(though some states have illegalized this).

Maybe, but they'd likely argue that, since the electors haven't cast their votes yet, the law on how those votes get cast can't be ex post facto.

As I recall, MA did something similar with a law about appointing senators should one die. The Dem legislature gave the Gov the power to appoint senators when he was a Dem, and stripped it from the R (I think it was Romney) when it looked like he was going to get to appoint someone. I may be misremembering some of the details, but I think that's how it went.

157 I wouldn't count out Trump in the popular vote this time. People here in NY are very pissed at the NYC crew who now runs the state. I see more "for sale" signs in the area than I have in at least the last 8 years or so.

People have been through the new tax cycle and know it's not the SALT deduction that's killing them. It's the high state taxes that NY just raised again with stuff like an internet shopping tax, added tax on sales of homes over a certain amount, etc., etc.

It's very nice to support a political party like its a team sport until they start to personally assault and rob you, then ask for thanks.

The courts just invented some framework that empowers them to legislate, specifically to amend the constitution by themselves, so long as they follow their ridiculous artificial framework.

Like the coup plotters in DOJ, FBI, CIA etc whose hijinks are now being more fully exposed, the judiciary is not made up of the sharpest tools in the drawer. Their usurpations, like the misbehavior of the coup plotters, are crude, and facially ridiculous - but they don't care, as they are accustomed to impunity. 188 wouldn't count out Trump in the popular vote this time. People here in NY are very pissed at the NYC crew who now runs the state. I see more "for sale" signs in the area than I have in at least the last 8 years or so.

People have been through the new tax cycle and know it's not the SALT deduction that's killing them. It's the high state taxes that NY just raised again with stuff like an internet shopping tax, added tax on sales of homes over a certain amount, etc., etc.

It's very nice to support a political party like its a team sport until they start to personally assault and rob you, then ask for thanks.

I'm having one of those days too ace. Been dealing with Check Engine light nonsense on my Hummer for weeks now - finally ordered a new ECM. In the process of pulling the old one out, the wife complained that she needed to go somewhere (after promising me that she was good for an hour) so I put the old ECM back in and low and behold now the glow plug WAIT light won't come on which probably means that the glow plug controller is fucked.

Also, replaced an ABS sensor only to find out that the ABS modulator /shuttle valve is ALSO throwing a code so I gotta deal with that too now. FFS. I just feel like drinking at the moment.

361 The only cookies I have a nostalgic attachment to are Ranger Cookies that Mommy made back when she loved me.

I checked the internet and they have recipes for ranger cookies that are not at all like Mommy's. Hers were soft and sweet and full of coconut.

But they were more interesting in the first chapter when they were called Strider Cookies.

369 307 Mark, have a new lever rifle (first for me) and the disassembly process (for cleaning) is discouraging. No "field strip" option for a Winchester 1866, it seems. And since these designs were all for black powder, one marvels and wonders about how they kept them running back in the day. Nasty dirty stuff.

Yeah. I love my Rossi 92 in .44 magnum but it's a pain to clean.

Q-tips, Hoppes #9, some CLP and a boresnake....it's imperfect but it's as good as I can manage without risk of losing parts.

Nonetheless, Michigan (!!) was outside the Dem margin of cheating in 2016. When they had every reason to press as hard as they could. The prime advantage of cuckservatism in 2016- the lie that Trump was a closet liberal- has exploded. If the Dems have to dedicate cheating resources to Colorado AND Michigan AND Florida- well, when you are equally defended everywhere you are equally weak everywhere. And that doesn't account for the fact President Trump will make a play for Minnesota.

Point is, trying to nullify a presidential election in any state is so stupid, so likely to end in cleansing the California transplants, that it won't be done. If the libs must declare civil war, they will find another way.

I promise you that I have never seen an example of an obese or even fat/chubby man being told he is handsome and sexy and to never change. And I say this because this is an overt psychological operation against women. And it's women supporting it mainly and cucks. Why would women want other women to be obese. Men encourage each other to get fit and stay healthy.

The entire Mueller Fraud was an attempt to frame the President for Obstruction because they already knew Collusion was a hoax.

They knew this because Mueller;s entire team of Hillary Donors, Foundation Lawyers, Dirty Cops and Crooked Lawyers--including the same 40 FBI agents who transferred over to Team Mueller--were the exact same team that had already been trying to frame Trump for nearly two years previous to the two-year Mueller Fraud.

That makes it a four-year long "investigation", the length of a presidential term. And that's if you pretend Brennan wasn't wiretapping the Trumps even earlier.

As I recall, MA did something similar with a law about appointing senators should one die. The Dem legislature gave the Gov the power to appoint senators when he was a Dem, and stripped it from the R (I think it was Romney) when it looked like he was going to get to appoint someone. I may be misremembering some of the details, but I think that's how it went.

Re how the Dems would argue, in response I'd argue that voters voted under a presumption of how electors would be apportioned, and to change that presumption after seeing the electoral results would very much be ex post facto.
