***

A happy reunion.

March 27 (UPI) -- A dog that escaped from her kennel at an Atlanta airport has been found after three days and will be returned to her owners, officials said.

Gale, a prize-winning 22-month-old American Staffordshire Terrier, was found to be missing from her kennel Saturday when she and her handlers were preparing to board a Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport flight to Amsterdam, where her owners reside, with her handlers.

Verizon doesn't like cats.

Verizon has raised controversy by suspending an employee hailed as a hero for using a bucket truck to rescue a cat stranded atop a Philadelphia utility pole.

A video captured March 16 in the Port Richmond neighborhood shows Verizon employee Maurice German using his bucket truck to rescue the stranded cat from the very top of the pole.

Meet The PetMorons

20190321_124459_resized.jpg

My son's dog, C.J., a border collie/st. bernard and my Geddy, a doberman, know the ball is in the water but it is too close to the waterfall to retrieve it. I think the noise scares them off. It was their first swim of the season. -S.Lynn

So how did the ball get to close to the waterfall? Hmmmm? That is a great photo. Those two look like really good buddies. Thanks for sharing.

***

blakeunnamed (5).jpg

found these two wandering around a rather busy parking lot and coaxed them into my vehicle. My wife and I were a bit concerned, due to the lack of collars and tags. However, we took them to the vet and had them scanned for a chip, which they both had. Within a few hours, we had managed to return both pooches to their rightful and grateful owners. When picked up, the owner explained both dogs chewed off their collars and they'd also tried harnesses, which were promptly chewed off also.

Moral of the story: chip your pets!

Delilah is the black one, the other is Daisy. Surprisingly, they are litter mates. Sweet dogs but huge!

The leashes are ones that slip over the head and double as a choke. The leashes are convenient for such occasions, which is why we purchased them. The area where we live seems to get a lot of escaped pooches and the leashes have gotten a pretty good workout.-Blake

That story had a happy ending for the owner of Delilah and Daisy. You're a good Moron Blake and thank you for providing a good lesson, chip your pets.

This is Dottie. She likes it when I read the pet thread to her. This is look she gets when I tell her there are cats on the thread, but no Bulldogs. She and I have been lurkers for years and sometimes plagiarists since what is written on AoS is darn near perfect. - Yours, Jennifer

Well the Pet Thread thanks you and Dottie for your support. I suspect Dottie will be mostly smiles today. Thanks for sharing with us.

Just getting in for today's deadline is Paisley. Northern Lurker was talking about her on an earlier ONT. So he was invited to submit Paisley's photo. A very photogenic dog. Congrats on your new addition!

Thank you to the all who contributed today. Great looking pets and great links! Thanks.

Does your pet or a pet you know want to be in the almost world famous AoS Pet Thread? If so, you can submit your photos and stories to us here at petmorons at gmail dot com.

19 Great photos today.
We inherited a little chihuahua from a deceased friend and had him neutered this week. He also had to have 7 teeth pulled. I guess that's a thing with tiny dogs when they get old. He has a heart murmur, which the vet say is complicated by bacteria from his rotten teeth. He had already lost a lot of teeth, and his tongue hangs out the side of his mouth because there are no teeth to hold it in. Expensive to have the remaining tiny teeth extracted.

He seems to be doing well a couple of days post-op.

27 Sobering thought: I like it when cats shove their forehead into your hand, it's cute and comforting, but who knows what they are really experiencing? They are marking us, like a tiger urinating on a tree. Maybe they only feel about us the way the tiger feels about the tree. If they could write poetry it would be different. "I kiss my beloved human's hand with my cheeks" vs "As a tiger pisseth against a tree, so do I rub against the ungainly hairless monkey. It is mine and no other's".

It came up this week as my cat Cinnamon seems to want whatever I'm eating that cats , while Cinnamon it turned out didn't, can eat peanuts. Like humans they can have peanut allergies but if not and small amounts have at it.
Often whatever I am eating and begging to no end give her a piece then acts like I gave her a rock find its not editable and doesn't want it.

48 You can tell it's finally spring. When Prince the Poodle is in the backyard, he does his business then spends the rest of the time sniffing at all the intriguing scents coming on the wind and rising from the thawing ground. It's kind of relaxing to watch.

49 Lansing MI will be getting a cat cafe, with adoptable cats. You can get a coffee and cat to go.

Westville, CT, a suburb of New Haven, opened a cat cafe last year called (what else?) Mew Haven Cat Cafe. The cafe partners with Animal Haven, a local no-kill shelter where I adopted my first kitteh, to help AH cats find new homes.

"A cat cafe is the cats' foster home. It's a safe place for them to stay until they are adopted. And while they're here, they're being socialized: living and playing with their fellow cats, and also learning about all the humans who come to visit them."

https://tinyurl.com/y72a2r8v

Full disclosure: Mew Haven is less than a mile from my place, and it really is a fine hangout for both cats and humans. And no Starbucks wokeness.

78 Dogs are cool.

Every time I get a dog, I don't really want one. But once I have it, I'll kick your ass if you mess with it.

If you reach for one of my french fries, I'll stab you with a fork. If my dog looks at me when I'm eating them, I'll give her one.

If you wake me up before the alarm clock goes off, I'll string together a combination of curse words previously unknown to man. When corgi jumps on me every morning before I'm awake and licks me on my face, I tell her good morning and let her outside to do her business.

If you come up to me in the dark as I'm getting out of my truck late at night, I'll tense up ready to fight. When my Pyrenees comes up to me when I'm getting home from work at 3:30 am, I pat her head and get her a treat from the house.

Why is it we have such a bond with them when we might otherwise be cynical towards the world? And how do they so quickly know they are supposed to have our back and become our biggest fans?

Why is it we have such a bond with them when we might otherwise be cynical towards the world? And how do they so quickly know they are supposed to have our back and become our biggest fans?

I will never forget how the two kittehs that I had on 9/11 comforted me that afternoon. I was sent home from work early because the governor ordered all major highways in CT shut down at noon-- so I sat on my bed just stunned as the horror of the day unfolded. My cats knew something was very wrong-- they came up on the bed and sat beside me, one on each side, and patted me with their paws. I nuzzled them and they nuzzled me back. And they slept beside me when I finally turned in that night. They were the best comfort I could have had.

This is a very important consideration. I have had two dogs put down this way, and children have had three with the same vet. It's bad enough to have to do this at all, but doing it in the sterility of a vet's office adds to the stress. I cannot imagine the fear that my animals would have felt at a vet, even a very good and caring one. After I had to put Tucker down at a vet (even though Mrs H and I were there to reassure him), I swore never again.FWIW, Conor and I just got back from a long road trip and he is exhausted, but he had a great day. Now back to read the full thread.

155 OT : As I sit here in my living room on a Saturday evening after a long afternoon drinking, nicely buzzed and settling down with my Jack Russell, Dino (named for Dean Martin),on my lap so till slightly on topic. I'm far across the Atlantic from nearly all of you, I'm starting to watch on Netflix , '' The Highwaymen" about Bonnie and Clyde.

Well just a few minutes into it after Clyde Barrow escapes from prison, you see reporters harassing the governed of Texas about this scandal, and get this, the governed is a WOMAN!

Goddamit I'm sick of these liberal types twisting history to suit their hip modern feelings. But, hold on, that's much to expect us to believe that a state in a society that - according to the MSM - was pitifully sexist and misogynistic especially back in the thirties, never mind today would have a female governor . And southern state like Texas too.

But after a quick Google, whaddaya know? They did have a woman governor of a state back then barely 15 years after women got the vote. And she wasn't the first either. The third or fourth. And one of the others was Hispanic.

My God what horrible sexist racist society the US is, going having women, Latina women even, being charge of States way back in the nineteen thirties.

The Highwaymen is a pretty damn good watch too.

I am sorry for your loss, A Wrecks. I've had to put down too many dogs over the last 40+ years, and it just sucks every time. Cosmic Charlie, Jack Straw, et al: I get a kick out of the GD references tossed into the mix here. Been a fan since '73 or so. Once upon a time, my 1966 International Harvester Travelall was christened "Bertha" by the same compadre who deemed me "Cowboy Neal" after I drove us 18 hours straight from NW Ohio to VT in a blizzard because we each had a pretty girl awaiting us there.
Be well.

167 We are very close to getting a second dog. Our current and Dog of a Lifetime is a Border-Bernese. A professional contact who has a large home in the country raised Borders and Horses. As we don't have room for a horse we're going to get a Border.

At ten, the current Lord and Master Dog (he has many titles) is a bit ornery with other dogs, but we think that going with a female, who is still a puppy/adolescent and who will never be his size, we should be okay with the dominance aggression if we follow a staged/supervised introduction period.

Our kids are in HS (Junior and Freshman) and with a ten year old dog, we thought it was time to fill the house with more dog so we don't jump off a bridge when our second goes to college, which may be around the time that the ten year old gets to be Vic's age in dog years.
