Poll: In Midwestern States, Trump Leads a Generic Democrat Candidate 46% to 40%

The number doesn't reflect his standing in any one particular state, but in the region overall.

Decent numbers, though.

There's a reason why President Trump is becoming more popular in important Midwestern battleground states like Pennsylvania: Voters don't want to lose the ongoing economic renaissance that is transforming their lives.

According to a recent opinion survey from The Wall Street Journal, the president "cumulatively leads a generic Democratic opponent, 46 percent to 40 percent," in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

The survey's findings are not surprising, and it’' no small coincidence that those states are all thriving under the president's pro-growth economic policies.

Indeed, Trump’s economic agenda has had a profound effect on Pennsylvania: The state's 4.0 percent unemployment rate is now the lowest it’s been in nearly two decades, and the economy continues to add new jobs at a dizzying pace.

East-coasters consider them Midwest because they don't want PA in the Mid-Atlantic. PA consider themselves Mid-Atlantic, as does the Midwest.

168 This is way to early. Rush explained the poll showing Trump losing GA, FL TX et al as the people who f'd up the midwest and northeast is moving south and turning those states purple. Since I life in GA, I agree and see it happening first hand. No WAY Stacey Abrams would have gotten as close as she did otherwise (even with the concentrated AA votes in the ATL).
The demographics of states are changing in HUGE ways right now and we can look at the tax bill being a big reason why. The loss of the SALT deduction over $10,000 is having a profound impact in where people live - the people who can afford to leave the high-tax states, and those who can't stay. It may ironically be why Trump loses in 2020 - his policies benefit blue states' blue collar workers more, and that won't be enough to counterbalance the loss of other "red" states. Especially if the RINOS have anything to do with it.

You seem to be misunderstanding me.

I'm not saying that he's guaranteed the nomination because of his vice presidency, but that he's going to perform significantly better in the primary because he's a former VP.

I think he'll win the nomination based on a combination of his increased status and the fact that he's going to be filling the center-left gap in the race. There are too many people fighting for the far left, and the party as a whole is less enamored with the far left than Twitter and New York based media want them to be. The real fight for the nomination is for the center-left position, and Biden has the best shot of winning that and, by extension, the nomination as a whole.

I got a handle on rowing but it was a very strange thing to do: here, you've never rowed a boat before, lets try it the first time a dozen feet from a live alligator and see how it goes.

Those people then vote further and further to the Left for the welfare. Once the full leftism kicks in, the place becomes a horrible third world shithole with a handful of billionaires and everyone else on the dole.

All the geniuses pushing this conveniently forget that this same issue has already been to the Supreme Court, back when the Tea Party movement was trying to get Term Limits placed on Congressmen.

Supreme Court Ruling: No State has the right to put any conditions on holding a Federal Office other than those which are found in the Constitution itself. That's why all of the federal term limits bills were thrown out. That's why the Presidency was limited to 2 terms by Constitutional Amendment; it couldn't be done any other way.

So no, those states do not have the power under the Constitution to place any additional restrictions on Presidential Candidates.

358 O/T:

Just read an article over at Seattle Times regarding the 737 MAX 8 MCAR software and it's pretty damning if the allegations in the article are true.

Basically, the MCAR software was certified to put horizontal stabilizer in the down position of no more that .6 degrees. In actuality, the system allowed 2.5 degrees.

But here's the kicker: Every time a pilot would pull back on the yoke, the system would reset itself and initiate another 2.5 degrees down. As long as the pilot was fighting back against MCAR, this would continue until the stabilizer was in full down position.

AoA sensors were another big problem.

Wow if true.

Yeah, my dad came from Missouri so every couple years we'd vacation there, driving across the country from Oregon to spend a couple weeks with grandma. Was usually around July 4th too, so we'd get to play with real fireworks rather than a smoking thing that supposedly was a snake and snaps.

And cheap, those fireworks were so cheap we could buy bushels. We bought like 8 packages of bottle rockets and were setting them off in the back of the pickup her husband had. One fell off into the bed, where all the rest of the bottlerockets were, and shot directly into one of the packages.

They were firing off all over the place, exploding in the truck in the trees, in the porch. My grandma was laughing so hard she could barely dodge them.

Missouri (back then at least) had the most lax laws I've ever seen, anywhere. The fishing and hunting pamphlet was like 8 pages long, the size of a tract. It was basically "don't use dynamite to fish with and don't shoot nobody"

Obama didn't do his tweets - he turned it over to OFA after he was elected, which is why there were always tweets of Obama pictures; it was a campaign team doing the tweets. Think the only times he tweeted he's sign them to ID that it was him, not OFA.

It happens routinely. I have a liberal acquaintance - my only one, as I can't stand being around them, generally. About ten years ago, I mentioned that we were thinking about moving to AZ (before a family crisis came that kept us here). He nodded, and said that THEY were thinking the same thing.

Now I have no doubt whatsoever that he and his wife would continue to be earnest liberals (read: brain dead). Why would he move? To get away from high taxes, strict regulation, and all the other problems of California?

HE VOTED FOR ALL THIS. HE GOT WHAT HE WANTED. NOW HE DOESN'T WANT IT. HE'LL MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE, AND VOTE FOR IT AGAIN.

At this point Trump seems certain to win, but I figured Obama couldn't possibly win with a bad economy, horrible foreign policy crises constantly going on, and annoyed public over the ACA. 401 But here's the kicker: Every time a pilot would pull back on the yoke, the system would reset itself and initiate another 2.5 degrees down. As long as the pilot was fighting back against MCAR, this would continue until the stabilizer was in full down position.
AoA sensors were another big problem.
Wow if true.

I saw that same article, and it one other big reveal in it that I haven't seen anywhere else - they said that investigators have determined that it was the Autopilot that forced the crash of the Indonesian plane a couple months ago, because one sensor had failed. That is huge, I thought the decision was still under investigation.

For an analogy, think of a fine sports car with a lot of gauges that are nice to have, but the car will still run fine without them. Boeing appears to have built a the equivalent of a car where, if the oil pressure gauge fails, a bomb goes off and instantly kills everyone in the car.

No, you don't understand. These people think the problem is the *people* in the northern states they left (minorities) and don't see the connection. So they want that european socialism that you can have in countries without a lot of low income people, but they also want the low cost workers. He did mention SW's 40,000 cycles in the two years they've had the Max versions on the 38 planes they have and the pilots know the way it works and haven't resorted to over riding the system. He thinks the pilots feeling the plane lower its nose during take-off rattles less experienced pilots.

He also mentioned the power of the engines will not allow that plane to stall and referred to a video showing one going vertical very quickly when they were introduced.

441 Joe Biden is a favored Democrat candidate because he is an old white male and the left believes that Donald Trump got elected because he is an old white male. They believe that if it worked for Trump, it will work for Biden. Of course white male voters know the difference between Biden and Trump but its a mystery to the detergent eating left.

The left's actual dream candidate is Stacy Abrams, the failed candidate for Georgia governor. The reason she is favored is because she is black, female and at least as qualified as Hillary Clinton. Although, she is not married and there is no information on her sexual preferences, she is overweight which is another plus to the left.

Posted by: Punchinello at March 18, 2019 02:58 PM (zOrpp)

442 364 - correct. That is behind the effort by blue state Democrats to remove the Electoral College.

Essentially, that would disenfranchise the greater electorate. It would give urban areas of NY, CA and IL (home to most far left loonies and the parasites they rely on for their power) the ability to govern the US in perpetuity.

That's in addition to the slow replacement of the electorate by illegals.

And in addition to the Deep State creating two sets of laws - a strict code for red staters, and legal/enforcement nullification for blue staters.

And in addition to Big Tech/Big Media censoring badthink in favor of The Narrative.

The Democrats have many, many strategies to build the road to American serfdom.

There are far too many 'moderate' Democrats unwilling to do anything about it.

Primo Levi, who knew a thing or two about how frogs are boiled and about totalitarianism, made a useful insight in his "The Periodic Table" about useful or apathetic idiots.

He wrote to a German (his boss in a slave camp where he worked - and starved - as a chemist) who wrote him asking forgiveness and citing the usual excuses.

"I admitted that we are not all born heroes, and that a world in which everyone would be like him, that is, honest and unarmed, would be tolerable...but this is an unreal world.

"In the real world, the armed exist, they build Auschwitz, and the honest and unarmed clear the road for them; therefore every German must answer for Auschwitz, indeed every man, and after Auschwitz it is no longer permissible to be unarmed."

The 'honest and unarmed" people in the Democrat party are the ones voting to end the EV, to allow unimpeded illegal immigration, to vote for gun control. Who stand by while honest debate is shut down in every public venue. Who applaud on Facebook or Twitter while someone they disagree with is physically attacked or their homes/jobs/families threatened.
