Lisa Page: The DOJ Forbade Us From Bringing a Negligent Release of Classified Information Charge Against Hillary Clinton

Yes, the fix was in.

Say, anyone remember when Loretta Lynch claimed she was recusing herself from this case due to her speaking with Bill Clinton furtively on an airport tarmac?

Well actually she didn't recuse herself -- she said she would do as the FBI recommended. But she intended the media to sell that as a recusal, and the media so sold it.

Turns out, the DOJ did not defer to the FBI at all.

Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page testified last year that officials in the bureau, including then-FBI Director James Comey, discussed Espionage Act charges against Hillary Clinton, citing "gross negligence," but the Justice Department shut them down.

Newly released transcripts from Page’s private testimony in front of a joint task force of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees in July 2018 sheds new light on the internal discussions about an investigation into Clinton's emails....

Page said Comey and the FBI spoke with DOJ about a gross negligence charge for Clinton multiple times, but that the DOJ consistently pushed back on it. "We had multiple conversations with the Justice Department about bringing a gross negligence charge. And that’s, as I said, the advice that we got from the Department was that they did not think -- that it was constitutionally vague and not sustainable," she said.

FoxNews reported that her ex-lover Peter Strzok was eager to join the Mueller investigation, as he believed it could end with the impeachment of the president he politically loathed -- and that would also help his career.

It's time to reopen the Hillary Email Investigation -- this time, under new management.

Actually, I think it is time to burn it all down. Nuke it from space -- only way to be sure.

There is no way this level of corruption can be purged. Even when any of it (an infinitesimal amount at that) is exposed, all we ever get is Congressional hearings where sound bites are recorded. Nothing is ever prosecuted. Nobody goes to jail. Everyone gets to go home at night to their family. If anyone loses their job, they get picked up by some lobby firm and continue on with their life. No accountability.

Time has come to end this.

The Trump Dossier was an attempt by the Clinton campaign to smear Trump so that the FBI investigation wouldn't have quite so big an impact on her poll numbers. If they could get the FBI to open an investigation of allegations that Trump was controlled by the Russians, then the Clinton campaign and their media lackeys could say, "See, he's under investigation too!" Once they put the dossier into the FBI's hands, Hillary supporters used it as an excuse to start snooping looking for anything else that they could use against Candidate-then-President-Elect Trump.

There's a certain kind of person that suffers from a sort of retardation, in that they believe that everybody else follows the rules, Because Most People Are Good, And Authority Is Good; and yet, they break the rules in their own orbit all the time. Sort of the inverse of Scogg's conservatives who know for a fact that everybody is breaking the rules but can't bring themselves to.

I've even heard it advanced as a disproof to the biblical account of the crucifixion, because Clearly That Doesn't Correspond To What We Know Of Roman Law, and Nobody Would Ever Bend The Rules On That.

It's not even optimism, because these people are unaware of a good possibility vs. bad possibility - they lack the imagination to process the existence of anything beyond DroneWorld in which they are a Wobegon Drone, just slightly better than everyone else.

Yeah, the problem for the FBI was that they were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Indict Hillary and you throw the whole election into chaos. Fail to indict her and you look like political hacks. Comey tried to thread that needle by failing to recommend indictment, but then publicly saying that she was dirty.

As a matter of justice and fair play, Hillary should have been indicted, and the Dems should have been told, "Sorry, it's too late for you to pick another candidate." The whole point of primaries is to weed out bad candidates before a general election. Rigging a primary like the Dems did has a downside, in that you can stumble across nasty surprises like this. However, we know that would never happen. The Dems would have found a sympathetic judge to pull a Torricelli, and replaced Hillary with someone else, probably Biden, who would have won.

Throughout the years, Democratic Party leadership, operatives, and organizers feared the Clintons--& I don't mean fear them as one would fear a tyrannical boss at work. I mean fear them as one would fear a Mafia don or a cartel drug lord.

We all have suspicions why that was so but let's put the theories aside: it is no longer so. I don't think Democrats are scared of her any more. Some might even want a little payback. I think there's a chance, however remote, that Hillary could still get in trouble for this.

As I've said before in my rationale for Trump firing Comey immediately upon taking office:

The legally correct thing for Comey to have done was to have forwarded an indictment and if Lynch refused then resign.

The politically valid thing for Comey to have done would have been to tell Hillary to drop out of the race or she'd be indicted, early enough for the Democrats to pick another candidate.

Regardless, Hillary had to take a dive.

169 meh.

so far not as excited about the transcript releases as I thought I was going to be.

She's basically saying that the DOJ was saying to the FBI that they never charged anyone with gross negligence before - or at least not in the last 100 years or so. DOJ said it was unconstitutionally vague standard (gross negligence) and wouldn't fly. So in the end, everyone DOJ FBI agreed not to charge her. So that's their rationale. Not that Hillary didn't do it, but that it was never going to stick -- essentially because she's Clinton would have very good lawyers, and they had a weak sauce case. So it sounds like they rationalized it at the time, rather than just completely humped the dog. In the end, FBI agreed with DOJ and then you get Comey and his weird statement about a chargeable offense that no reasonable prosecutor would bring. And how Hillary was really super duper careless with secret stuff.

(now I find that hard to believe, because the crime doesn't require intent that I recall, and I can't believe they'd think you can't prove intent with the markings that were on those emails)

What does it all mean? Who the heck knows.

The president
Sec. of Defense.
Senate Foreign Relations Committee

Members of the Press
Etc.

What would be the odds that all of that would happen? Seriously, what would be the odds that the most high-ranking politically powerful people in Washington were going to be indicted? Me, I consider all of that and think "Nope, no one was going to want to open that can of worms and indict and try Hillary when she is going to turn and start naming names on everyone else."

The Franklin Cover-up is one of those very few conspiracy theories where the central assertions have been proven to be true, yet most of the depraved, evil bastards involved got away with it. With Pizzagate, all of them got away with it. The Podesta Brothers are free as little birds.

She had not yet committed her crimes in his administration in 2008. In 2008, she made a deal with Obama that he'd appoint her as his SOS and take a "hands off" approach (leaving her free to set up her own private email servers and get to work selling her influence to the highest bidders . . . er, "donors" to the Clinton "charitable" foundation).

In 2013, she quit as Obama's SOS and probably made a deal with Obama that she'd stay quiet about Obama's crimes over the past 5 years if he'd stay quiet about hers.

297 >>Hillary should have been charged with much worse than mere negligence.
That makes it sound like having classified emails on a private server
was just a big oopsie.

To go back to what Catherine Herridge reported: Hillary wasn't just email highly classified docs on her server, she was in possessions of docs in which she was not read in. This goes beyond oopsie --- there weare (still are?) people in various IC positions who were essentially committing espionage by sharing docs with her she shouldn't have had. For example, there was a Sid Blumenthal email where he included excerpts from a document that had been only shared by its author(s) within the prior 24 hours.

She and her aides were also mailing/sharing these classified docs intentionally with Clinton Foundation people, such as a Bill Clinton aide in order to assist in drafting his presentation to a foreign company.

THAT kind of stuff is brimming with ill intent, and knowingly breaking laws.

The cops/feds/whoever were making pretend this was a big white-collar case that was going to make the history books.

Besides, if they didn't bust in while people were sleeping with their guns drawn these connected people might have learned that they were being pursued and charged and would have jetted off to Europe and the Carribean to live lives on the run, escaping American justice for their awful, harmful, serious crimes.

Not many, no. Which is the real reason that GOP sold out conservatives: demographically we're just a dead end. We aren't having enough kids and the Third World is breeding like rabbits and so we're importing them just as hard and fast as we can. There aren't any "safe" Red States - even Texas will go purple in the next 10-15 years.

I completely agree with your premise. But pure revenge is never a good, or sage premise. You win by getting these people out of office. What they want, what they need is power. You don't deny them that by seeking revenge. You develop a strategy that uses your resources effectively. The Left is very good at keeping Republicans from doing that through these pathos issues. They know a lot of people will become vested in it and therefore distracted. Meanwhile they seize power and we get further away from the prize.

We have gotten away with a lot of financial shenanigans in the last 20 or so years. And we got away with it because the US Dollar is the world's reserve currency.

This won't last forever. Believe me, the Chinese would love to pull the rug out from under us.

When the dollar ceases to be the world's reserve currency, this country is going to go into a spasm of violence and chaos unknown since the Civil War. It will be a mess.

505 And I'm pleased that the FBI arrested whatshername at the crack of dawn with guns drawn, because it at least shows some consistency after they did the same thing to Roger Stone.

The FBI doesn't give a flying fuck about the rue of law. And they are so lazy that 17 people are dead in Parkland Fl.

They conducted gross, unsafe charades to perceived outsiders. Neither should have been done.

And anyone killed during them will be treated as less than human.

There's a guy in Wichita that would love to tell you this, but the police killed him and congratulated themselves for it.

506 494 Y'all are missing the point. Harrison Ford isn't an actor, he's a star. John Wayne was a star.

You like Harrison Ford movies if you like Harrison Ford. You like John Wayne movies if you like John Wayne.

Neither of them particularly acts.
Posted by: Bandersnatch at March 13, 2019 04:03 PM (fuK7c)

Wayne could act, he just didn't usually 'need' to.

He's fucking great in Red River. And he's fun as Rooster Cogburn.

Ford maybe has only really 'acted' in two movies. I don't know why that makes me sad, but it does.

Didn't Lynch write a memo as she headed out the door stating Oshithead told them to handle everything "by the book"?

From a Midget:
I am a very short individual and people used to call me "midget" mostly when I was in school. Occasionally, they would use the word "dwarf" but midget sounded funnier to them. I am not at all offended. It has never bothered me that I am small, nor has it impacted my quality of life unless you consider the inability to buy fashionable clothes a tragedy. My short stature is not a direct result of genetics but early malnutrition and illness. I think people need to grow a sense of humour and learn to be less offended by words. For me it was always the speakers intent that determined whether I should be offended.

I think you've got the order of events backwards. If we haven't had a civil war before going Venezuelan, we won't be having one at all.
