The Morning Report - 3/13/19

thsshwwe.jpg

Good morning kids. Midweek and lots of stuff to wade into so here we go. Yesterday's breaking story that Hollywood actresses, and more than likely other well-heeled people, were part of a huge bribery scandal involving millions of dollars paid out to secure spaces in America's top schools for their kids serves to underscore one of the handful of key attributes that defines those of a Leftist Bent: Hypocrisy. As friend and author of the piece in American Spectator Geoffrey Norman puts it:

...The parents who paid were, as the AG announced, " ...a catalog of wealth and privilege." If they weren't well-fixed enough to pay for buildings bearing their names, they still had enough to fork over anywhere from $100,000 to $6.5 million. Among them is an executive at one of those Silicon Valley investment firms where according to news reports, he "...heads [the firm's] business promoting social good." He paid $250,000 to get a picture of his son punting a football phonied up. The kid didn't even play the game.

That qualifies, presumably, as a "social good"...

There's affirmative action and then there's affirmative action, baby. To this day we have yet to see ex-President Obama's transcripts before and after his years (allegedly) at Columbia and Harvard Law. Beyond that shambling, sociopathic narcissist, of greater significance is the fact that graduates, legitimate or otherwise, of Ivy League and other so-called elite institutions of higher learning go on to populate the halls of power and influence of our government and society. It's one thing for some over-achieving son of a bitch to get his sheepskin from Harvard or Yale but what if he got it the old fashioned way, by bribing the bursar? Or being the <2.0 GPA child of alumnus Biff Tadmore who gets in with a secret handshake and a fat endowment? Either way, the result is the same; a completely undeserved elitist attitude that manifests itself years later in the form of malignant, Napoleonic egomaniacs who fancy themselves as the new herrenrasse that will shove us, gently or otherwise (right, Cass Sunstein?) towards our glorious future as drones in a globalist socialist utopia of their making. All the free tree bark you can eat and a fat, black suicide capsule when it runs out, as they let out a gentle sigh whilst chowing down on wagyu beef, arugula and the 1927 Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut. Goes well with a (an?) Holodomor, n'est ce pas?

Funny how these are the same people who divide, denigrate and destroy good, decent honest Americans for our alleged sins against the religion of Social Justice while lying, cheating, bribing and doing whatever they can "by any means necessary" to get over on, and lord over, us. Now, taking all of that into consideration, I invite you to peruse the Mueller Inquisition section, not just for the revelation via the transcripts of traitor Lisa Page's testimony that this was all part of an engineered coup to steal the election for Hillary and failing that overthrow Donald Trump's presidency, but that every player involved - from Brennan to Clapper to Clinton to Obama - is a product of the Ivy League furher-mill. I would dearly love to see their high school and college transcripts because I would wager that a good many of them ain't all that they're cracked up to be, academically speaking. And we all know what they are as people.

Moving on to the political scene, the Democrat Left's got a fever and the only thing that'll cure it is more Joo-hate, like an Orthodox woman pushing a pram being kicked by a passerby. Several good links including putting the blame for the flare up squarely on the slouching shoulders of Barack Obama. In other scandal news besides the college bribery, most of the female Dem prexy hopefuls are desperately trying to hide the sexual harassment tied to their aides and advisers, a NYC bartender is disciplined for refusing service to a MAGA-hat wearer, the Clinton Crime Family film-flammed the Scandis, and the head of the Media Matters persecution squad is a flaming racist, but luckily having the media try and cover it up really matters.

Elsewhere, Dems looking to strangle Texas blue, Liz Cheney rips the Democrats over who and what they are, Rancid Tliban and the untalented Al Green go against Palsi Pelosi on impeachment, Never-Trumper stooge Mike Murphy took big illegal bucks from the Chi-Coms, Palsi Pelosi pulls a total low-class move even for her, an essay on the nexus of Islam and Leftism, and the ripping off of the mask will only serve to drive swing state voters away from the Dems in 2020.

Immigration: Tens of thousands of disease-ridden illegal alien migrant invaders is de facto biological warfare.

Abortion: Interesting take on the subject from, of all people, a former Bernie supporter.

Fake News Fakery: Levin rips CNN, Google is watching you, Bob "kiddie diddler" Menendez has the gall to support a bill protecting reporters after he threatened one who dared question him, and Rabbi Fischer on the attempted muzzling of TuCa.

Guns: Dick's continues to shoot themselves in the face and Kentucky "returns to the law of the land by being the 17th state to respect the second amendment (CBD with the rephrasing).

Foreign Desk: Maduro blames Guaido for the blackouts and not the Joo-Mossad-Weather-Controlling-Shark-Machine, Theresa May blows Brexit again, Senate wants to get tougher on Chi-Coms as Chi-Coms go Islamophobic (sarc), NorK nuke cheating, and more countries ground the Boeing 737 Max but still flying here and in Canada.

Domestically, Senate Republicans doing what they can to get more nominees confirmed, Democrat budget chairman calls Trump budget DOA and two good pieces on the administrative state and bureaucracy and how to kneecap them.

Healthcare: Gene therapy caveats, and calls for repealing Florida healthcare worker restrictions.

Education: Sarah Lawrence students want to wash down the Tide Pods with shots of Snuggle, and a look at school choice for all.

Red Greens: Greenpeace founder calls climate change a total fraud and a Lysenko with a sheepskin writes a fiction about air pollution being caused by white people and adversely/disproportionately affecting people who have colors.

Feminazi and Trans-Psychosis: A Georgia lawmaker wants to cut men's balls off in tit for tat on late term abortion bill.

Hither and Yon: Christian Toto on how Vice tanking took down a producer, and terms of endowment. Not "that" endowment, the other one.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

NOTE: The opinions expressed in some links may or may not reflect my own. I include them because of their relevance to the discussion of a particular issue.

I'm pretty sure we've known about this sort of hackery forever. Plus ca change, and all that.

That we as a society continue to deify "graduates" from these high-dollar diploma factories is our problem. That said, we continue to deify people who's only contribution to society is they can emote on cue and effectively read words written by others - so this is just another indication of how well and truly screwed we are.

Better yet, how about the thousands in some of these "minority" college feeder schools who are helping the kids cheat and embellishing their community service? But the guy nominally "in-charge" of guys like me will never, ever be picked from the best of a bunch of guys like me. The guy "in-charge" will typically have little idea what it is we actually do. But - he will be paid more - he will be "in charge" - and he'll go to a whole lot of meetings.

Half of the college administrators are probably guilty of serious fraud and embezzlement ... but the FBI spends all their time going after test cheaters. It's a joke.

And half these kids probably could have gotten into the schools solely on the basis of the fame of their parents, anyway. Shit, I'd admit Lori Laughlin's kids just so she would come around to the school for visits every now and then. Nothing wrong with that.

Personally, whoever handcuffed and dragged Lori Laughlin away ought to be beaten with a rubber hose. What a bunch of shitheads.

What I don't get, then, is why it happened then, when it doesn't usually. I expect if I searched JJ's comments the past 2 days (or any book thread), I am sure I'd find examples, which however did not mess up the following comments.

So why then? I've noticed that some things seem to happen in some threads an not in others. E.g., I often am unable to copy/paste in the ONT, even using the Quote Unf*cker, or even copying from t he ONT's own text. But I haven't seen it elsewhere.

I've never seen why computers can still be so unpredictable.

151 "All the free tree bark you can eat...."

Speaking of which, last night was project night at our charter school where the kids present to the parents what they are working on. My older son and the rest of his class: tiny houses! All the joys and benefits, sustainability and savings of living in a house the size of our tool shed. And are they ever becoming popular, at least according to the reports by the kids. I asked my son later if we should sell our house and move in one. He looked at me like I was crazy and was decidedly against the idea. Even the thought of an apartment terrifies him but the school propagandized him into believing tiny houses are a good idea.

It's almost always like this. Elementary school science has mostly been reduced to global warming and sustainability. Where the hell can you send your kids to get a real education anymore? Our charter school is better environment that the public schools we escaped but just as politically correct. Are the private Christian/catholic schools this bad? From their websites it seem some of them are, or at least they pay tribute the all the diversity and tolerance talking points. I've considered that option but fear I'm going to fork over big bucks and end up seeing the same garbage, just maybe a little more toned down.

The funniest part of all this is the parents all seemed like achievers, people who worked hard to get where they are. They must know all those kids aren't going to be helped one iota being pushed into schools they have no business going to. All I can think is the parents own egos couldn't face the idea of going to a cocktail party and saying little Jimmy joined the Navy, or Ophelia Jade is taking night classes while working some sort of day shift.
You know, like normal people.

J.J. changed it to Harvard Law from Columbia Law. See his comment above at #92.

Obama went to Occidental, and then transferred into Columbia. He then went to Harvard Law, where he received not only "legacy" points (as a result of his father having been a student there), but also affirmative action points added to his admission score.

Obama has boasted that he didn't "check the box" indicating that he was a minority on his law school application, but with a name like Barack Hussein Obama and a black father alumnus on file, he had no need to check the box. They already knew what color he was (and if they couldn't figure it out, it was certainly reported on his undergrad records anyway).

But he went on about how they have an office of Environmental evaluation and his good friend is head of it, and they evaluate it and say its safe.

WF is now effed. Because no matter how good your compliance program is, if something happens, it wasn't ggood enough. That is how it goes. And by getting into all the goo goo environmental stuff, the CEO put them on the hook now. Something bad happens, what, they are going to say "well our evaluation said it was safe." I just don't know if things today are any different from when, under Obama, the DOJ decided not to prosecute Democrats for obvious massive law-breaking. If you aren't going to prosecute Hillary then, what's different enough now to prosecute? After the cynical experience of watching all of 2018 unfold, with no push against the DOJ, I guess I still had some small hope Huber would do something, but the investigation has been finished for more than six months and he's been the prosecutor of record since November. Like all the other jokers in the Sessions era, he's done nothing.

If you read between the lines it confirms that indeed the FBI's Russia investigation was the insurance policy and NOT the special counsel. Had it stayed with the FBI it would have been run by McCabe, Rosenstein stepped in and took it away from him.

As someone posted above I started out lower middle class (maybe even upper lower I don't know) and now solidly in upper middle. My kids have never known privation - never had anything denied them, materially. They are children of divorce and though it was a decade ago it seems to weigh heavily on them.

The 17 yo boy is diagnosed with depression, and he will no longer visit or communicate with me. Going on 3 weeks now. He is busy failing his senior year in high school, near as I can tell, to show you DAD!

My 13 yo daughter who seemed totally normally and with it is now diagnosed with depression and anxiety. She was a straight A student now her grades are starting to taper off.

I am heartbroken and I am shattered. And I don't know what else I can do but pray.

"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. But just pass the kinds of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted-and you create a nation of lawbreakers-and then you cash in on guilt. I'm pretty sure "in good standing" must be involved somewhere, since there was no money coming from Barky Sr..

No, what got Barky into Hah-vahd was much more drastic than affirmative action and/or legacy credits. Barky's scores were, obviously, ridiculously low. His admission involved other black magic, probably administered by his black muslim friend of the saudi royal family who was shepherding his admission through.

Just from listening to Barky it's easy to know that he didn't crack 940 on the SAT - not on his best day. His LSATs were, likewise, pathetic, I'm sure. No ... it was much more than affirmative action or legacy. Much, much more.

My daughter has had a difficult transition form teenager to young adult. In answer to this question - YES. they are very very very politically correct. Jesuits/IHM created the entire "social justice" concept. They are very serious about Leftism.

I've found schools run by other orders - Dominicans, Piarists, and on the Sister side, Mercy - to be far better in this regard (but still PC). But most schools are Jesuit/IHM. Those (connected) orders focus on education. And for a reason.

360 I see why some people have a tough time believing in God.

A good God would just make sure you don't haave troubles, right?

Or, if you reach out in prayer, He will give you a good answer.

But, instead, he says, go ahead, spill your guts out in front of a bunch of random people.

And then read willow's posts.

Not exactly how I would have put things together, but it works, and I am thinking its better.

372 blaster I'm so sorry to hear about your tribulations with your teens! I feel you (15 and 13 year olds).

The girls I honestly think the rough patch is longer (if less deep). My daughter had a hellish 8th grade/freshman year, and this year wasn't great either. Now, at the tail end of 15 she is changing RAPIDLY for the better. She struggled mightily with anxiety and I do thank athletics for getting her through it. For me the sports have really been worth it regardless of any college outcome. They kept her rolling through it.

but 16 seems to be the magic number for girls. they come out of it.

I worked with one Cornell student my entire life - while interning at ORNL. One of the dumbest humans I've encountered my entire life.

Stupid to the point that I started questioning my own sanity - since everyone seemed initially impressed that he was going to Cornell - but he obviously couldn't do basic electronics or physic or ... anything. He could solve problems in a book - he could not do a single thing in a lab. He could not go to a shelf and find the book he needed to learn what he needed at this moment. He could, however, solve narrowly and precisely defined problems in a book.

No ... turns out I was somewhat sane. Everyone else figured out he was fucking retarded as well - once they quit giving him hand jobs for going to Cornell.

394 221 It's a paradox that I never figured out how to solve.

I grew up lower class and made it to upper middle class. But my kids, by growing up upper middle class - don't have the same fire. They just don't - and they never will. They're happier - and they might get along fine just because they fit in much, much better. I never figured out how to square that circle - because I didn't do shit like not letting them eat or turning off the heat and such.

This issue does get to the heart of what we're up against, and that's an arrogant, incompetent so-called elite that controls its own credential system. These people get out of those allegedly top-tier schools and get jobs in major law firms, industries, and politics.

These are the kind of people who end up running our country. What this proves is what we've been saying all along, that the so-called experts are not as smart as they claim to be or as smart as they think they are.

425 Obama checked all the boxes. Even the ones he didn't qualify for. Come on. He was doing coke 'when he could afford it' in LA and he gets accepted to Colulmbia at the same time that Columbia is trying to increase it's foreign born student population, what with the UN around the corner and the student population nearly all domestic.

I get a kick out of the 'mystery' of how Obama's publisher came to believe he had been born in Kenya. As if some low level staffer just pulled it out of his or her backside. Columbia isn't much different. The most obvious way to square the circle: Obama applied as a foreigner. Or for'ner.

434 >>Ever since you pointed this out, that lying piece of shit, McCabe, hasn't passed up any opportunity to try to discredit RR through non verifiable "events".

The sole source for the whole 25th Amendment crap? McCabe. I'm not real inclined to believe anything McCabe says.

There's a great article by the guy I referenced above, Jeff Carlson, that goes through the sequence of events of Rosenstein removing the Russia collusion investigation from McCabe and surrounding events. I'll try and find it for you later.

Also remember, after the OPR investigation of McCabe the recommendation came down that he be fired. The only problem was if they followed normal DOJ guidelines McCabe would've been able to retire before being fired.

It was Rosenstein who stepped in and fast tracked the case to allow Sessions to pull the trigger before the retirement date. McCabe hates Rosenstein.

I didn't know about the fast track part.

Trump has steadfastly supported Rosenstein despite all the slime that McCabe and others have thrown at him, in marked contrast to his jabs at Sleepy Jeff at CPAC, for example. I'm in an argument with a couple Sessions defenders elsewhere who insist that the malingering turd was some sort of behind the scenes Svengali and that all of DJT's comments are kabuki theater, which I think is errant nonsense.

470 So sure, a lot of these elite kids got into top schools through money and reserved spots on the sailing team, etc. But how do you account for Harvard taking in David Hogg, whose academic record (grades and tests) wasn't good enough to gain acceptance at UC Irvine upon graduation from college?

Posted by: asymptote at March 13, 2019 10:40 AM (Le4jq)

471 College transcripts mean nothing because a student who snuck into a top school could hide out and skate through easy classes, more so than one could at a state school. Top schools like the Ivy leagues are invested in giving their students the best grades possible (see the Harvard grade inflation scandal from 10-15 years ago where classes were awarding 90%+ of the students A's), so they can get into the top professional schools, and get powerful jobs, and help out their endowments.

High school transcripts and SAT test scores would sink most of these elites, including the entire Obama family.

475 Environmental Racism

You know how those evil railroads put black people on the "wrong side of the tracks". Actually railroads were built by engineers who did not want people crossing the tracks, so when they laid out towns, they put the tracks on the edge of town. Of course the land on the other side of the tracks was less valuable, but for practical reasons not racism.
