The election won't be fair. The Dems have telegraphed that openly at this point. Trump can't win by winning. He can only win by dominating - and even then, with two solid years of the Left complex dripping conspiratorial poison into the ears of the electorate, I think a bad-faith election by the electors is possible. If he dominates and the electors are above-board, you ain't seen nothin' yet in terms of obstruction. I have a lengthy barely-willowed comment on the last thread on this topic.
I think Trump would have somewhere between "toss up" and "slight edge" in terms of his chances in 2020. But with the plans for widespread fraud, conspiracy and laying the groundwork for treason charges if you don't go along with it, I have my doubts.
I think it might be impossible to know who the winner would be if the election were fair, because the Left is making it pretty clear that "fair" isn't entering into the equation.

Me, too. But I don't think being a red state with a Republic SOS will prevent them from stealing elections. There are a *lot* of marginal states where they are within the margin of fraud. Wyoming and Oklahoma are probably safe. Georgia, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Indiana and a variety of others are definitely vulnerable.

In many states, the secret ballot is a pathetic joke. The secret ballot was the greatest single tool for the oppressed person to vote out the oppressor. Now, some Blue areas with mail in ballots have "voting parties", so you vote "correctly."
In Motor Voter states, non-citizens get a free pass onto the voting rolls when they change out their driver's license, and nobody ever, ever checks. There are 19 MV states, and most all are blue.
And Calif has made "ballot harvesting" legal, which is how they turned 5 or 6 US Rep seats from R to D last fall.

This. I am going to do my part and go stump for Trump and get my vote in (not that it matters - I live in CO) and see what happens. I don't think it ends well, but I am not going to do nothing about it.
I think we can now safely expand something I said about DJT to the general case. What asked by someone "Do you think Trump will do _____," I always had the same answer: "The odds are between zero and one hundred percent."
I think that applies to everything now. Stressful if you care about the outcome.

Does it matter? They're already blue hell holes. They need to pour money into those low-tax red states the voters have moved *to.* The ones the left are safe.
It's easy electoral math. Assume the CA outflow continues into CO and AZ. They will solidify CO and flip AZ, possibly in 2020, but probably by 2028 at the outside. When Census time comes, CA might lose an electoral vote. But flipping AZ - even if AZ doesn't pick up an elector - will fain them 11 for the price of 1. They did it to CO and gained 5 for the price of none. If they can flip Texas (harder, but possible over a longer timeframe), they'll pick up 38 or 39 for the price of 1 or 2.
The origin points - the hell holes - are safe. They can focus their money on the recipients of their outflow and make the safest electoral bet.

Legal weed made Denver worse. A lot of idiots decided to move here and become layabouts. Average lease duration, for example, fell from 14 months to about 10 months in the aftermath of legal weed.
It isn't the problem, though, I don't think. We were turning left before it passed, and CO has always been pretty liberal vis-a-vis marijuana. From what I can tell, the influx of blue staters has had a much bigger effect than being able to buy pot at a store.

Personally, I don't think you can compare the two.. I saw it as a backlash against Trump.. I may well be wrong. But I do know people who have soured on Trump and will not vote for him again. Doesn't matter in Illinois, luckily.

In 2004, states like Colorado, Virginia and Nevada were just automatic Republican states that Democrats barely even fought over. And Republicans would have been delusional to have thought they could have won PA, MI, Wisconsin and come within a point of Minnesota.
I definitely think Trump's ideology can attract a lopsided majority, I just think Trump biggest enemy is his own personality. It's sort of the reverse of Obama, people didn't like his politics but (enough) people liked the optics of a President Obama. People (secretly) like Trumps politics but tire of his drama.

In 2016, I remember hatred of Donald Trump being white hot. The media was screaming bloody murder every day. It's not like anything really changed.
Hillary was terrible, but at the same time, she was comfortable for most people ideologically and wasn't considered a crazy left-winger. Someone like a Kamala harris could easily underperform Hillary. The woman is out there pushing reparations for Pete's sake.

Colorado is probably the least likely of the potential pickups I named, but I wouldn't count it out.
I think Trump might have pulled it out last time, actually, if Johnson hadn't been on the ballot in Colorado. He got more votes than Clinton's margin of victory.

I am not sure you are drawing the appropriate conclusions. In at 2 of the States you reference above we fielded horrendous candidates and that probably has more to do with it than anything. And in a midterm different people come out to vote

I can't say for those states, but here in Michigan we had an excellent candidate who could have unseated Stabanaugh but the RNC did not support him. For whatever reason , the RNC withheld funds for our candidates in the house and senate.

The people who really are jealous are the white people in Maher's studio audience. They are the ones who couldn't get into an Ivy League school and aren't working prestigious jobs, yet subscribe to the religion of left-wing politics in order to make themselves feel "good" and "smart". Even though Maher is actually talking about how pathetic they are, they channel any tinge of embarrassment they might feel into feelings of superiority over flyover hicks who voted Trump.
