CNN Thumb Chris Cillizza: The Left Has Pushed Two Racial-Arson Hoaxes. The Right, Meanwhile, Has Criticized the Left For Pushing Two Racial-Arson Hoaxes. As You Can See, Both Sides Are Equally to Blame.

Ah. Perfect.

Both the left and the right got Covington wrong, and then got Smollet wrong. They just got it wrong in different ways -- the left got it wrong by getting it wrong, and the right got it wrong by noticing the left had gotten it wrong.

You're everything we've come to expect from CNN "analysis."

The point is that, once again, the left and right were not engaged in the same project. One side was running full speed with confirmation bias and got the story wrong. The other side looked at the actual facts (as provided by the videos) and successfully argued the truth was other than it first appeared. The "counterattack" wasn’t of the same nature as the initial attack. Why can't Chris Cillizza see those differences?

He's a paid shill for a political party. You might just as well ask "Why can't Cory Booker see that Cory Booker is a dummy?"

Meanwhile, the "right wing" is really going to "seize" and "pounce" on this: Nigerian brothers testify before grand jury, says Chicago reporter.

Am I doing exactly what the leftwing CNN shill-media is doing in promoting actual facts instead of hoaxes?

29 About Bernie.....What interesting times in which we live. Looks like we will find out pretty soon whether a majority of our fellow citizens are willing to go full-commie in the United States. Can't believe we're here and books will be written explaining how it came to be that after the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union, the United States decided to likewise collapse itself and destroy the unique democracy that surpassed all others before it on every category you want to mention.

After becoming the prime mover on the major inventions in human history, including economic policy, monetary policy, actual "stuff" inventions, like the light bulb, automobile and the computer among countless others, and including the invention of the very best form of government itself, a representative democracy with guaranteed rights of freedom to individual citizens, 1/2 of the citizens of the United States decided to throw it all away to copy the form of government of countless failed states throughout the world and throughout history.

It's a common psychological mechanism. Someone does something stupid and you point it out. Then they get really, really angry, because even if you had to point it out, you shouldn't have pointed it out *that way* or using *that tone of voice* etc.

The interesting part in all this is how editors no longer handle the business end of the paper. They're entirely idealogues trying to score political points.

No one expects papers to be profitable, just to make noise.

What this does is make editors absolutely immune to financial pressure - hey, they aren't the ones paying the bills! The deep-pocketed owner can come up with the cash!

And this is exactly the ground where the owner WON'T demand firings to reduce liability, because they're equally committed to the cause. Bezos is a True Believer, so he's going to be sympathetic to fighting it out.

This is why the Covington kids seems have amassed the libel Dream Team in their corner. These guys see easy marks and are ready to take them to the cleaners.

216 What this does is make editors absolutely immune to financial pressure - hey, they aren't the ones paying the bills! The deep-pocketed owner can come up with the cash!"

The ultimate irony is that because they think they're immune to financial pressure, they've actually opened themselves up to it. By not deeming it worthy of consideration, they keep taking bigger and bigger risks and thinking it's all good - and then suddenly one day they end up like Gawker.

Richard Fernandez, over at Belmont Club has written a good bit about "design margin". Healthy structures and healthy organizations have a large built in "design margin" where things can go very badly, and the structure, or organization will still survive. BUT when people take over who don't understand what the original designers understood, they start taking bigger and bigger risks, and think they're so smart for "getting away with it" - but they're eating into the design margin. Eventually, they run things down to where there is no design margin left at all, and in the next big crisis after that - and there always is one - the entire edifice comes crashing down in failure, and everyone is Shocked, Shocked, Shocked, because that Never Happened Before. But the outcome was guaranteed by the way they had acted - it was just a matter of timing.

263 Morons, we have a winner. The law firm Hemmer DeFrank Wessels, PLLC is going to exact more damage on the mainstream media than any that came before it. Links above to the firm's website where you can read the initial complaint against WaPo for $250M. This is what a top-shelf law firm looks like, my friends.

For those discussing the amount of claimed damages, the attorneys state in the complaint that they choose $250M because that was how much Bezos paid for WaPo.

Further, they say expressly that more law suits are coming. Maggie Haberman, of NYT, is sure to be included, and god speed. That angry wench has had this coming for a long time, and so does her paper.

Before this over, I have no doubt that Sandman's attorneys will be asking for well in excess of $1B from multiple defendants. The fact that Sandman is a minor (16 yrs old, for Christ's sake) is going to be devastating for their legal defense, because duties to minor in the defamation area of law are heightened.

Get out the popcorn folks! This will be one of the great cases for the ages and actually has the potential to permanently change the way mainstream media reports news and uses social media. All good.

Sanders will gain zero traction this time around. The only reason he lasted as long as he did was Hillary left him alone as the token opposition. Everyone who hated her necessarily had to rally to him.

But now there's plenty of alternatives, all the left of Karl Marx.

The cop (Gerald Goines) who wrote the warrant has been a problem cop for over twenty years.
_'92 shot in the jaw, altercation - pissing on private citizen's tree
_'97 road rage (his), shooting; shot and killed the driver, was shot in arm and abdomen
He's also had problems with other warrants and misplaced evidence.

The undercover case agent (Gerald Goines) in the ... raid had been involved in multiple shootings, racked up a smattering of written reprimands, faced several lawsuits and is currently accused of fabricating a drug deal then lying about it in court...

322 Couple of data points to keep in mind about the civil Sandman case:

(1) Civil Case in Kentucky: In a Kentucky State case, 5 of 6 jurors must vote in favor of Sandman. If WaPo removes to Federal Court in Kentucky (almost a certainty), 9 of 12 jurors must vote in favor of Sandman.

(2) Kentucky Burden of Persuasion: Sandman has to show by a preponderance of the evidence (i.e. "more likely than not") that WaPo committed all of the elements of his defamation claim.

(3) Presumptions: On this, I'm not sure. But in the case of a minor in a defamation and libel case, Sandman may be entitled to certain presumptions of evidence in his favor that switches the burden of proof to WaPo to prove, by a preponderance of evidence, that the presumption is not correct.
