48 Jussie's crime is a huge hate crime ... he smeared Trump voters with a scripted fake narrative. He needs hate crime treatment.

If we are going to have stupid hate crimes, they need to be applied "equally". There was real damage done, politically but also to society on a large scale. (which means most of fake news media should be locked up for coordinated sedition and hate -- racketeering combined with sedition ... and bigotry/racism tossed in ... lampposts needed)

I have a couple of little dents in my forehead, which I assumed were just birth marks/birth defects. My mother told me otherwise.

When I was a toddler, they had these "book shelves" they threw together with boards and cinder blocks. Toddler-aged me decided they were ripe for climbing, with predictable results. Got a cinder block on my head for my troubles

They replaced them with proper book cases after that...

61 I think I'm obsessed over the Wall. I can't stop watching YouTube videos of the new construction and going over Google Maps looking up all the places Boarder Patrol plans to build new and upgraded barriers.

One interesting I learned that I hadn't realized is that the wall keeps illegals crossers IN as well as OUT. I saw a press conference at a ground breaking event where the CBP guy said that having the wall allows them to catch crossers once they've gone over. Before they'd just run over to the Mexican side and boarder agents couldn't do much about it. So when ever critics claim that high-tech is better, this is a good counterargument as it keeps smugglers from playing cat and mouse with boarder patrol.

"With Jussie Smollett's story of being mugged by MAGA racists falling apart faster than whatever's left of Bill Kristol's mind, the usual MSM outlets are new hilariously trying to walk back all of their crap reporting by trying to deflect the discussion to 'the larger picture' or 'the overall context', which, when translated into normal speech, means, 'screw the facts, Trump is still to blame.' It's like they pulled out their own version of the Otter Defense and are now triumphantly marching out of the room in single file, with their noses pointed piously skyward. Bunch of sanctimonious bastards. I just can't wait until Nick Sandmann's lawsuit hits the fan. I want to see these media hacks writhing in pain as they are forced to deliver on-the-air apologies, or their employers are forced to settle for huge sums of money."

22 I get willowed so much, we might as well call it being YD'd.

At least this is topical:

Smollett's attorney has released a statement, including the following:

"As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with."

Jussie has to be one of the biggest dickheads in a country full of them.

It's bad enough to say "Hey, you hungry foreigners trying to make it in Hollywood, I have the key to your success - just do this thing for me. Super easy, barely an inconvenience," so you can convince them to fake a hate crime.

But when you get caught for it, to throw them so thoroughly under the bus like that is just low.

44 So I had a dream last night that involved crazy space escapades and was far superior to the Star Wars prequels and sequels. (The best part was driving a red Dodge Ram with R2-D2 welded onto the back as we drove our way back to the crashed spaceship.) Hollywood need to just watch my dreams, there's plenty of stories in my brain.

If this is true, I can just see the look on Jussie's face when the police reported that they could see all his movements except for 60 seconds and saw no attack.

Trump and us deplorables are lucky having the enemies we do. But then the Left grew them for us by putting ideological purity over all other values when choosing who they'd raise up to prominence for the masses.

That's why you put the bacon on top and protect the Tomato with lettuce.

Jussie had the connections and name recognition to get the ball rolling ... if he communicated with any in advance, they should be exposed. (like the whole Trump/Russia thing, lot of ground work done for that)

Right now there are photos all over Instagram showing Smollett and his entire family cuddling up to known democrats, like Kamala, who just happened to have pushed for that anti-lynching law at the same time Jussie hoaxed himself.

Of course, law schools used to focus on this kind of thing. Now I think there are no good teachers anymore. Its all "woke" Professoring now. "

In all legal systems, rules have much less to do with "teaching" than they have to do with "enforcing".

Do some real enforcement, and it will be amazing how quickly everyone will embark on a home self-study program. No enforcement, and years worth of teaching won't make a damn bit of difference.

If it is a continuing crime which it appears to be, apparently, then a lawyer should withdraw as soon as he knows of it. If the crime is continuing and also is likely to result in future bodily harm, lawyer would probably have to disclose client secrets, to prevent harm. Or face sanctions.

One thing I want to point out in the racist/gay/maga subzero hoax is that regular Chicago reporters were skeptical from the get-go. 167 DNC Chair Perez: Yes, you can be a Democratic Socialist and a Capitalist.

Progressives, in particular, but GOP too, have so perverted the term Capitalism, that Perez's statement may actually be true.

I fear that today's Yoots aren't even exposed to classical theory on capitalism, the economic system that promotes individual freedom. As far as I can tell, the DNC and GOP seem to agree, mostly, that this Country should focus on groups, not individuals.

Socialism's focus is on groups. You can slice and dice individuals into all sorts of group, nowadays mostly on racial, gender, gay and intellectual (i.e. people that believe in Progressivism). The economic system is tweaked to benefit this group over that one, and thus group identity becomes paramount.

Of course, this is fundamentally at odds with the rugged individualism on which this Country was founded, blind justice, private property, the individual's right to pursue his or her own interests, beliefs, and to be rewarded for his/her work product, if other free people want to buy it.

But when "Capitalism" is morphed into meaning "Not Capitalism," as has been the case for the last half-century, I honestly don't know you can engage in meaningful debate on the issue at all, let alone attack Perez for this statement.

I guess buying into AP news would cost too much, but it would be nice to be able to use media footage of events, but an Ace narrative as in the commentary here. But You-Tube seems to have ad connections, and would probably defund Ace. Which is why we need alternative video with broad connections, and probably anti-trust action against the racketeering by the social media giants.

230 "Yes, you can be a Democratic Socialist and a Capitalist"

even "capitalism" needs a lot of government to make complex systems "fair and safe". But a country based in liberty pushes for individual (free will) accomplishment being rewarded, often with great riches (or great failure also allowed).

socialism takes the winner's gains and redistributes to support even those that choose not to work, or offers paths to welfare with careful lying and faking. Obama's right to health care or housing and high speed internet ... that removes essential motivating factors.

Centralized government always grows to become a tyrant, a crime syndicate against the people, supported by murder and thugs. (See DNC, FBI, open borders for drugs and human trafficking).

351 socialism takes the winner's gains and redistributes to support even those that choose not to work, or offers paths to welfare with careful lying and faking. Obama's right to health care or housing and high speed internet ... that removes essential motivating factors.
--------

You can best explain why Socialism sucks (from economic perspective) by explaining that each additional $1,000 the government takes out of your pocket is $1,000 less that person has to pursue their own wants and needs. Most of us have to save money each month in order to fund college for our kids, a new car, or god forbid, maybe even a vacation every couple years.

So, take another $1,000 a month from me (as has been the case with ObamaCare's destruction of the health care system in the U.S.) and I'm forced to cut vacations, college funds, and the like from my own budget, which means I continue to work like a dog, and get less and less freedom to pursue things I want to do with the increasingly minimal amount of $ that is left over after covering my monthly burn rate for just breathing while owning a house and having a few kids.

And, completely ignored by Progressives, that extra $1,000 taken from me doesn't just drop down to intended beneficiaries. A huge percentage gets consumed in Gov. carrying costs (e.g., funding fed employee salary and pensions).

So, Fed take more money from me, is shockingly awful at converting that money into a benefit used by anybody other than the Government itself, and I spend more and more of my time and productivity contributing to this dysfunctional feedback loop, while I am unable to go on vacation, fund my kids' education without them incurring massive debt, or buy things I want in the private sector.

Yea. More Socialism please.

Two readings were done by the actors in attendance, which included Zachary Quinto, on the morning and afternoon of January 28.

Quinto would later speak out about the attack on Smollett, saying: 'I was absolutely enraged by the injustice and the senselessness of such violence. but i was also vividly reminded that we MUST continue our fight for equality and acceptance at every turn in this country and in this world.

'When talented and courageous young men like jussie are targeted and struck down in our streets - we must collectively RISE UP against such hatred and be IDENTIFIED and be PROUD and be STRONG in our convictions of truth and self-love and love for one another.'

And I'm not going to reargue my last battle on this one, but I think the *true* number of how much of our money directly or indirectly goes to government or is forced to be spent by laws and regulations is much higher.

If you just think about any supply chain and how many taxes, regulations, etc. are between the origins of that chain and you, the end consumer, it'd make your head spin.

Dirty little secret:

We have got to have X% of Americans living in poverty, and that population has to be managed in order to make sure it remains relatively stable. Otherwise the industries built up around them and that rely on them would fail. I wouldn't doubt if 10% of our workforce is built around The Poor. Court systems, social workers (and entire university programs around the nation), school lunch and other administration, etc.

Too big to fail, but only if you keep failing.

It is not so much they are "shockingly awful" (which would apply to theoretical socialism/communism) ... but that they quickly become so friggin' corrupt. All palms must be greased ... which works for not just real business, but the organized syndicates. Culture of corruption is inevitable when all power is centralized.

Corporatism also bought off DC, probably even more than the crime syndicates. But they also now intend to rule us, and to break us via open borders. This is criminal action against the country we fought to preserve. And so we see Hillary's Foundation (and many other leftist foundations) still protected at the highest places (AG, FBI, DNC) .. and corporate social media has their claws out for free speech of conservatives. Sedition with a corporate logo, but "free" email and social media.

CFR, Foundations and oligarchs should have their seditious meetings infiltrated by our government ... they are at war with we the people.

432 The last figure I read was 44%. That means only $.56 makes it back to the public.
Also read not long ago that our Glorious Federal Government was the largest organization of any type anywhere in the world. Well over a million employees, IIRC.
--------

That's bad, but I doubt that figure is correct. I bet it's considerably higher than that. Especially when you factor in the effect of all of the federal dollars wasted on other, non-productive, projects like studying X through the gay feminist perspective. Remember Krugman and Obama crowing about the "Stimulus" in Obama term 1? We'll never get a full accounting on that, but that $1B was burned on a whole bunch of nothing.

Forget the invention known as "money." Value is produced, fundamentally, by transforming something else into a product or service that others want to buy, in a way that results in a greater value than the inputs, net of labor taken to produce it. If the net outputs produce more than the net inputs, the economy grows. When you have no productive outputs (i.e. nothing to buy and no new invention or idea that helps others produce something to buy), the economy contracts. Handouts given to people, in whatever form, fall squarely into the latter category.

If you just think about any supply chain and how many taxes,
regulations, etc. are between the origins of that chain and you, the end
consumer, it'd make your head spin.

That 44% figure is several years old. Just think of how much money the Feds spend every year and they're still deficient.

I refuse to think about all the money that government takes away from me because I'm already pretty depressed already. Nothing I can do to change it anyways. And I sure didn't vote for it. Tired of having nothing but bad situations forced on me with no way to fix them and no money to answer them. I'm glad I'm 29 and all this shit won't last too much longer.

440 426...Corporatism...
=====

Agreed. Corporatism is the game played in Congress where politicians have correctly figured that raising money for reelection is hard work, but much easier if you ignore individual contributions and instead focus on raising reelection funds from a small number of deep pockets.

See, Boehner, Ryan, Cocaine-Mitch, et. al., are lazy. THEY, in leadership positions, have access to the master party funds. That money is doled out by them, to other Congress members, to support reelections. Their own reelection finance concerns are taken care of, and they can take care of a large number of their colleagues' finance needs by identifying those who will tow the line of the financiers, the well-funded corporations and interest groups (like the US Chamber of Commerce, the #1 lobbying spender in the U.S. (see http://tinyurl.com/y4hv33pe))

They could raise the same amount of funds by firing up the base by passing things their base voters want, and then eliciting campaign donations in response, but that's hard work. A lot easier for them to spend their time getting big checks from just a few benefactors. Of course, they won't get those funds, unless they support (or don't support) whatever those benefactors want.

And here we are, and here we have been, for my entire lifetime. GOP establishment does what it does because it's easy and it works. We, the GOP voters, get failure theater on all the issues that matter.

Paul Ryan, on the other hand, gets a cushy six or seven figure salary from here to eternity so he can help these very same lobbyists continue the Corporatism. And the Country burns.

Posted by: RichardWindsor at February 18, 2019 01:44 PM (db5dt)

441 don't forget there is $200T or so in unfunded obligations ... Americans are spending as if they have that money ... it is just a promise. And much of the other wealth is in a stock/bond market perhaps valued twice as high as "reality", if one considers a P/E of 15 to be normal. And how much of that is based on lies and false hopes?

And the richest 0.1% are now richer than since the roaring 20's ... per this short article. But Trump probably has to keep the markets inflated to win in 2020 ... lots of deals with lots of devils.

https://tinyurl.com/y3k7bjy4

Posted by: illiniwek at February 18, 2019 01:52 PM (Cus5s)

442 "They could raise the same amount of funds by firing up the base by passing things their base voters want"

they'd never have the funding that the left (or GOPe to lesser degree) gets from the MSM constant campaign. But Trump showed even without the same money, the right message can win. But only a Trump can stand up to the withering attacks (or maybe he has fallen to them by now, to some degree).

BigMoney can focus even more on selected battle grounds, so hard for a smaller player to prevail. But again, the right message can defeat big money. But even government is involved in destroying such candidates (Lois Lerner put one such candidate under investigation, running against Durbin the Turbin ... Turbin won)
