4 Former top FBI lawyer James Baker, in closed-door testimony to Congress, detailed alleged discussions among senior officials at the Justice Department about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office, claiming he was told Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said two Trump Cabinet officials were ready to support such an effort.

Does anybody believe this lying asshole? I don't and neither does this asshole.

On Thursday, the Justice Department issued a statement that said Rosenstein rejects McCabe's recitation of these events 'as inaccurate and factually incorrect.' It also denied that Rosenstein ever OK'd wearing a "wire" to tape Trump.

So this asshole says he is a liar. I say the top echelons of the FBI are all crooked and this organization needs to be cleaned out from the top down to the first level supervision.

We will get some errands done this morning so we don't have to leave our nice warm house. This crap weather calls for sleeping late, reading, making soups and other dishes that cook for hours in a low oven, taking naps (encouraged by the dog), reloading ammo, listening to music, and planning on which flies and lures to make for when fishing picks up in April. The only news I will follow is about the Nats training camp reports.

It helps to be retired and frugal. :-)

I have a slow cooker that was given to us for Christmas by one of wifey's sisters. It is ideal for making soups and stews that must simmer all day. You may want to look into that. They are not very expensive.

This is my 4th one. No problems found so far.
The food and drinks the day before keeps changing though. Now I can have coffee and tea up until I start to drink the solution at 4 PM.

My doctor kept telling me to get one and I kept denying to schedule one. That is up until I started discharging blood. They found cancer on my first one. This is why you should start getting them after you turn 40. Its one ever 5 years unless they find something. Then its one every year.

Our slow cooker bought the farm a while back after years of use. I salvaged the heavy crock insert, which is perfect for old style baked beans. The slow cooker recipes still work but I use a low oven instead of electric. We will probably get a new slow cooker in summer so we don't heat up the kitchen too much during hot weather. We get a lot of use out of our enameled cast iron pots as well.

My first one was directed by a surgeon that my doctor sent me to after passing blood. Go to a surgeon and get a recommendation. This is one procedure that the insurers are happy to approve too. It is much cheaper than a cancer operation. And much safer than ignoring it as Chet Atkins did.

I think some of the risk of colon cancer is related to what part of Europe you're from. Irish are one group with higher risk. Lost a brother in law to it.

So hoping I'm now on the 5 year plan for colonoscopies. Had been having them more often due to the badly damages sigmoid colon. 10 inches of it are now history.
Next up is an ultrasound for a node discovered in my neck. Jeebus it's been a long month or so.

A sad day for me was when SCOTUS outlawed the use of the death penalty for rapists. Rapists, particularly serial rapists, can never be rehabilitated, mostly because they were never habilitated in the first place.

My wife was talking to one of the nurses at the colonoscopy factory. They work something like 9 till 5 five days a week, no weekends, and the nurses and doctors all love it. The place does a helluva business, the parking lost is always filled to capacity.

What a concept... factory hours. The nurses must love that. No overnights, double shifts, rotating schedules, 'flexible' hours.

For the record, I don't think we're in a cold civil war. I think there's a lot of arguing on cable news and Twitter, but out in the hinterland no one notices.

Talking with an old friend last night, I asked him about the late 60s and he said there was no comparison in terms of civil breakdown and violence. Other than throwing pixels at each other, things are actually much more peaceful.

I know it's always 1932 in Berlin for some people, but I think that's partly because our bloated professional writing sector has to fill the time with something.

To put it another way, we're not in revolutionary times, or even pre-revolutionary times. I would, however, say we are in pre-pre-revolutionary times.

I agree. A while back my wife was upset that some idiot on social media was claiming to have sited "fascists" eating lunch in a local restaurant and was calling for backup to attack them.

I told her not to get worked up. If these guys had actual conviction, they wouldn't be going online asking for *someone else* to please do their dirty work, they'd have done it.

And the reason they didn't do it personally probably has to do with the fact that Michigan is a shall-issue state and has hundreds of thousands of permit holders. Swinging a bike lock in the Great Lakes State could get some hot lead in response, which is why Antifa mostly bloviates on the internet.

This also proves my point about the "civil war." You need two sides to fight and both have to be willing to die for the cause. I don't see noodle-armed baristas having that kind of determination.

probably true ... stress has many bad effects, but it is hard to diagnose that as a cause. Another reason for people to leave the big city and find a peaceful community, or even some acreage.

The genetics is certainly real ... I wonder too if some of that is heritage, in that habits and diet can be introduced in childhood, even ethics or religion as part of that. It is a sort of cultural "genetics", though much of that is now overridden by BigBrother and especially now with everyone so digital.

Yeah, but you did have a lot of political violence. MLK, Bobby Kennedy were both killed. There were other attempts (Ford) and it was the start of the long downward spiral of crime in urban areas. It made Detroit into, well Detroit.
