Whither our Republic?

Only one side of the ever-widening political divide thus far is willing to persecute the other for the most unremarkable of "offenses", with punishments ranging from social defenestration right through to taking away their opponent's means of providing for themselves and family, and all the way up to actual physical violence in the affirmation of their own golden calves.

They take our patience and our forbearance for weakness and press their tyrant's advantage at every turn. Once, however, the walls are truly felt behind the backs of even the most defenseless of oppressed, a remarkable and grim resolve is generally found.

Tyrants usually find an end that was impossible for them to foresee: An inexplicable result unaccounted for in the nihilistic actuarial tables of Marxist post-modernism.

History books may airbrush out the Left's ubiquitous failures, thus enabling their fatal resurgences, but the lamp-posts remember how once they dangled their morbid ornaments.

3 Good Morning Morons; today is Saturday, February 16, 2019. On this day in 1959 Fidel Castro became Premier (dictator) of Cuba after dictator Fulgencio Batista was overthrown on January 1. The US supported him until he revealed himself as a communist and a puppet of Soviet Russia.

6 The Aurora shooter was an employee of that warehouse where he did the shooting and was about to be fired. So all he accomplished was killing 5 people and wounding a bunch of others. As for his job, he was still terminated, but in a different manner. But the gun grabbers will be out in force calling for universal background checks and other incremental useless crap on their way to gun confiscation. Odds are this turd passed background checks.

It was.

I recall Trumps first act upon taking office was to deliver a balanced budget to congress that basically contained everything so-called conservatives were agitating for for decades..

Balanced budget, ended subs for PP, The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, ended funding for NPR, Defunded Obamacare and on and on...

The GOP's reaction?

They told Trump his budget was DOA and go pound sand.

That right there was the first tell...

The subsequent tells were they kept passing CR's even when that puke Paul Ryan swore up and down that they would go to regular order and pass a real honest to goodness budget which turned out to be a lie.

Their is no future for or in the GOP, it is an illegitimate political party of charlatans and grifters much like the Conservative movement as a whole.

We seriously need to find an alternative because we are being consumed and our substance is being hollowed out by a cadre of evil forces that seek to finish the fundamental transformation that Obama started.

How the Chicoms dealt with their SJWs once they were no longer useful:

"From 1962 to 1979, 16 to 18 million youth were sent to the countryside to undergo re-education.
Sending city students to the countryside was also used to defuse the student fanaticism set in motion by the Red Guards. On December 22, 1968, Chairman Mao directed the People's Daily to publish a piece entitled "We too have two hands, let us not laze about in the city", which quoted Mao as saying "The intellectual youth must go to the country, and will be educated from living in rural poverty." In 1969 many youth were rusticated. Many students could not deal with the harsh life and died in the process of reeducation."

When the president of the United States (POTUS) uses a presidential veto, it doesn't necessarily mean that the bill won't become a law. The US Constitution gives Congress a means to sign a bill into law after a presidential veto has occurred. In order to overturn a presidential veto, both houses in Congress must vote to approve the bill by a two-thirds majority. In cases where a majority votes does not occur, bipartisanship - the act of finding common ground via compromise - can help override the veto by gaining a majority vote. Other alternatives include declaring a law as unconstitutional or ruling against same party affiliation.

Fox can say the vote was by a 'veto-proof' majority, but that does NOT mean it's veto-proof. You have to parse the words slowly and carefully.

'Veto-proof majority' is the hang up you're having.

If the members all voted the second time around the same way, which there is no guarantee of, then the veto would not stand. 'Veto-proof majority' in the first vote prior to veto does not make it veto proof. It's only an indication of support.

You and I support the GOP because there is no alternative to the GOP.

They are not advancing any meaningful agenda.

In the last two years of total control all they managed to do is pass temporary tax cuts and that's it.

Trump has nominated solid conservatives and yes McConnell got them through but as we have seen, the courts as a whole are too far gone for the paltry few conservatives that have been confirmed to be of any utility.

A district judge can stymie a President and by the time it gets to the SCOTUS the damage has already been done.
And even when the SCOTUS does side with administration the rulings are so narrowly tailored as to be meaningless.

And don't get me started with the abomination that is our LE and IC apparatus.

We are in serious jeopardy of losing it all, and very soon.

We need more people to understand this not make excuses for the GOP.

116 If the Mueller investigation does not totally end within the next six months, even the most die-hard "there's no Deep State" person will have to realize the country is controlled by and for the UniParty/Deep State.

If Mueller is such a "stand-up, straight-shooter fellow," as we were told by everyone when he was appointed, how can he justify taking nearly two years (so far) to investigate something with a small, finite number of US "suspects," and with all the FBI and NSA data for those suspects in his possession? And how can he justify spending more and more taxpayer dollars to continue hounding Trump associates for only process crimes, not collusion or obstruction of justice?

To me the only reason Mueller will continue much longer is to continue to protect the Deep State's plot against Trump: By delaying the day when all the evidence against them has to be kept from the public due to Mueller's "ongoing investigation."

It's an opinion about the Covington 'incident' and dated 19 februari 2019!!!
Some quotes;
"There was also a protest held by Native American and Hebrew Israelite activists on the same day at the same location.
Videos and photos portray the students as hateful towards the culture of the other two groups."
...
"Even with videos and interviews, it is difficult to tell exactly what happened if one was not physically present. As students, but also members of a society which encourages free thinking, we should take all sides of a situation into consideration and make educated accusations."
And then she goes on;
"It is not difficult to see a group of young, white, MAGA supporters and be able to understand their intentions in this situation. Their intent was to be disrespectful when coming face to face with people who were protesting ages of Native American suffering."

So it's difficult to tell what happened but that wont stop her from condemning the kids because, it seems, they were white and some wore MAGA hats. And this racist piece of crap will join the 'intellectual class'.

Whither the Republic (and whither the West since I'm not American but this kind of thing is all over the place)? Nothing were I want to be, that's for sure.

It was clear to Mueller within six months of being appointed that there was no substance to the collusion, obstruction or any of the other nonsense that was contrived and leveled at Trump.

But Mueller's role was not to find the truth and dispense justice but to stymie any meaningful investigation of the real criminals in the Obama administration, Hillary World, the IC and LE apparatuses and a whole host of criminals and bad actors.

This was all aided an abetted by Jeff Sessions and the GOP.

And Mueller leaves six months after Trump leaves whenever that is, not before.

I believe you are right. I believe the Dem House members plan to use Mueller's team and its Grand Jury subpoena power for the next two years. I soon expect a letter from Nadler and Schiff to new Atty General Barr, demanding (in polite terms) that Mueller and his team be kept together and available while the several House committees perform their "oversight" investigations. And those investigations will continue through the 2020 election. If Barr refuses: Accusations of obstruction of justice.

I'm not so sure. A lot of stuff has come out regarding Mueller and Handy Andy didn't do himself any favors on 60 Minutes.

I think Trump was playing for time in dealing with this whole thing. Before he could try to get at the coup plotters he had to ensure that there were enough non-corrupt officials in the DoJ that they wouldn't botch the prosecution on purpose. He might finally be at that point.

The way the FBI handled Kavanaugh shows that there might be at least a few sectors of the bureaucracy that can be trusted.

Never before has the GOP held more seats in Congress, state legislatures, and governorships. And they got spooked by the attacks over Obamacare, and in the end, they wilted. It was still a small group who backed down, but it was enough.

The issue we face today is what to do now. It is hard to believe that really smart people are making really smart tactical decisions at this point. My hope at this juncture is that the left will continue to beclown itself and that will be enough to keep them from power. I am not saying it is a good plan, and I am not saying it is a sure thing. The silent majority no longer exists. My hope there is still a majority of sanity.

Robespierre, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, et al, the rogues gallery of leftist leaders, were not stupid. Demented, but not actually stupid. Barr is part of Trump's detente with the Bushes. Trump realized that he couldn't fight everyone at once and needed to make some alliances. Barr is part of that.

This was why Trump made such a big deal about H.W.'s death. He was publicly cementing the alliance by giving the guy a tribute that was otherwise completely out of alignment with what he actually accomplished.

Trump tried to go it alone and the swamp was just too much. He is picking his battles more carefully.

This is why the bill signing doesn't bother me. He needed to get the government reopen for the rest of the year and he actually got something in return for it. The fact that Ann Coulter is flipping out about it tells me it was the right move.

There is a theory that pretty much everybody in high political office is blackmailable, and that the gatekeepers in both parties make sure that only blackmailable people make it through the nominating process. But Trump is not, and he somehow slipped through the cracks. This is freaking them all out.

Maybe it's tinfoil hattish, but it sure would explain a lot.

177 Basically the Trump Presidency is effectively over,
he will do what he can given the current political situation, which is a
hell of lot more than any Conservative has done since Reagan but what
he will do will be at the margins and be completley undone by the next
Donk President.

Now this is not to say he can't win re-election
but which given the insanity of the Donk side is likely but him being
able to affect deep meaningful change is not likely.

The GOP has effectively wasted a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Sad.

What you're ignoring is that he did in fact accomplish a lot. The conspirators have been purged. McCabe was fired, Strzok and Page exposed - a lot of dirty laundry was pulled out for the world to see.

I keep making this point but it bears repeating: Without cleaning out the riff-raff, it was impossible for Sessions or anyone else to do anything.

If one of those hyper-partisan types was told "proscute McCabe" he would have done so in a way that let him walk. Look at the botched prosecution of Senator Menendez! They screwed it up on purpose so he could skate.

The same thing would have happened had Sessions tried to fire everyone all at once and then use Dem conspirators to prosecute their buddies.

I know people want to see decisive action because it makes good dramatic scenes on TV, but sometimes moving methodically, incrementally works better. Gosh, it's what got the left where it is today.

Actually, that was on Congress.

Congress has the power to put people in jail for lying to them. Strangely, they did exactly nothing to Clapper, which showed they have no problem with it.

This is what Trump is up against. GOP lawmakers - all of them Staunch Conservatives who believe in Rule of Law - let people lie publicly to them and then do exactly nothing about it.

So basically Trump has to fight the entire government, including people on his own side. Given that, I'd say he's doing a remarkable job.

interesting ... I'm not very clear on the history of Mao or Stalin ... our version of communism may be a little different. Corporatism is part of the American communism, and it has already gone global, beyond the reach of voter control.

The culture being displaced in our case is traditional America, with mass immigration, but also the Trojan horse of Google/FB/Twitter enforcing punishment for WrongThink right down to the individual comments.

And I think the crime syndicates in major cities is directly linked to the Dem mayors and governors. The drug/human trafficking is part of the cash flow plan. The idyllic "socialism" narrative is just cover for their criminal actions. But the common thread is that humans are all expendable to advance the power of the state. 262 Organs from the elders will be made into a hearty stew for the camps

Posted by: Bruce
________

Actually, they were to be converted into a gruel-like substance more resembling yogurt than stew. But I don't believe it. To my profound disappointment, the camps don't exist. I so wanted to send the unenlightened to such facilities, and I thought the vacant Walmart would be the venue of such glory, only to see another store occupy this prime space.

As for the Yogurt Green (a funny reference we Leftists use) another let-down is apparent. The yogurt plant in California was supposed to be where the elderly were converted into sustenance for the inmates, but General Mills announced they were shutting that factory down. The façade of Yoplait is ruined.

I fear that it's all coming to an end. My dreams of destroying the bodies and spirits of those who dare to disagree with me have dissipated like the proverbial fart in the wind. My ever-present smirk of superiority is a parody of itself. Even my comments as I troll this blog, once masterpieces of instigation, have mutated into self-pitying ramblings.

Alas, the lamp-posts are empty as they offer nothing but light in the darkness. Perhaps I'll venture into that store where the Walmart used to be, wander its aisles and ponder what could have been, what should have been, and maybe buy some birdseed for the nuthatches and the tufted titmouses (or is it titmice?) that grace my otherwise desolate winter yard.

Eh.

The basic problem is that we, of the middle and working class, make poor revolutionaries.

Why?

Because to be a member of the middle and/or working class, you:

1) Obey and respect the Law
2) Have planned out your life and have goals
3) Have responsibility to your family
4) Don't have a lot of free time because of family, church, business, friends, social obligations
5) Aren't sitting around waiting for someone or something like gov't to make your life better, you're doing it yourself for yourself.
6)Take responsibility for your own life.

Taken all together that means the middle and working classes will watch their lives sink slowly then vanish quickly before they will take action.

Trump, despite all the howling by the leftards, was a polite knock on the door as usual. Working through the system, doncha know.

If, if we of the middle and working classes, actually decide as a group to take action,

then, yes, we will win and win quickly because we and the planners and doers. We plan and do what we set out to do.

Very unlikely though. The Left has effectively fractured society and natural allies.

Look at the war against boys. How many mothers who want successful sons and young women who want to marry successful men would support that?

ZIp. Zero. Nada. In a rational world.

How many do support it?...a lot.

Strangely enough, if violence comes, it won't be because of the Dims exactly.

It will be because a-holes like the Turtle have frustrated all peaceful means of effecting change.

287 >>He was probably met by rosenstein and "briefed" on what was going on and the need for him to step away from it unless he wanted to be included in the mess.

I think he had a pretty good idea of the big picture without any help for Rosenstein. He was part of the campaign and he was a targeted just like Trump and Flynn.

I also think this is one of the more overblown and misunderstood aspects of the entire investigation. It's also becoming quite clear even to those who doubted it that Rosenstein and McCabe were at war. McCabe had started an obstruction of justice investigation into Trump just days after Trump, with Rosenstein's assistance, fired Comey. That meant that the same crooked group that had framed Trump with Russia collusion was also going to run his obstruction of justice investigation.

Does that sound like a good idea to anyone?

That's why Rosenstein brought in Mueller, to take the investigation away from the conspirators and bring it under control of the DOJ. Don't forget, Trump interviewed Mueller the day before Trump named Wray.

Sessions recusing himself was irritating to Trump but at the end it is largely a sideshow. All of the conspirators have been discovered, fired or forced out with criminal investigations ongoing. It is dumb to keep asking about why there are no leaks about the investigations when that was one of the biggest problems that needed fixing at the DOJ.

They are not supposed to talk about ongoing investigations. But we keep hearing that they are happening including mostly recently from Whitaker at his hearing in front of Congress the Friday before last.

So maybe Whitaker is lying. Maybe the Clinton Foundation whistleblowers are lying. Maybe there really isn't an empaneled grand jury hearing evidence at least against McCabe and that is a lie too. But this is how investigations are supposed to work, without leaks and without publicity.

301 John the Savage,

Thank you for your great comments! I have saved some to copy to an e-mail to my conservative list.

I agree that we need a new party. Our real problem is that we here at Ace's Place are not close to a majority in this country anymore. The Silent Majority has mostly died off and some of us who were late converts to the group are old now too. So, if we had a new party, we'd just be another splinter group, guaranteeing a Democrat win.

If we could even form a group it would be demonized immediately by the MSM & the Elites, then ignored until it dissolved.

I was a part of the Tea Party gathering in DC in 2009 -- amazing experience of pure patriotism from people coming from all over the country. The of it demonization began immediately. It didn't manage to create a viable GOP or third party.

Trump got this group of Patriots energized again, but we can see how the forces aligned against him have tied our "Gulliver" with a thousand strings.
