Smollett's attorney has released a statement, including the following:
"As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with."
Jussie has to be one of the biggest dickheads in a country full of them.
It's bad enough to say "Hey, you hungry foreigners trying to make it in Hollywood, I have the key to your success - just do this thing for me. Super easy, barely an inconvenience," so you can convince them to fake a hate crime.
But when you get caught for it, to throw them so thoroughly under the bus like that is just low.

Not unless the client files a complaint, and he's almost certainly doing exactly what his client is asking him to do. You can never get in trouble for faithfully following the clients directions, even if they do lead to him cutting his own throat.
Defense attorneys know that the best, most lucrative clients of all are always those who have a lot of money and yet are incredibly stupid, constantly doing self destructive things. Only need one or two of those to buy a nice vacation home in the mountains. And when the well runs dry - see ya, wouldn't wanna be ya!

It ain't 'Q. Pork shoulder, bone in, slo cooker w/chicken broth, garlic, salt, pepper. 6 to 8 hours, drain, pull, mix w/a couple tablespoons of applesauce, put shredded mix on shallow tray under broiler till crisp.
Meanwhile, prep Texas toast (store bought is a no no), 'murrican cheese, bacon.
Put together in skillet w/teaspoon of hot lard. Flip when edges are crisp.
Trust me, it's good.

If it is a continuing crime which it appears to be, apparently, then a lawyer should withdraw as soon as he knows of it. (You can represent someone for past crimes, but your job isn't to facilitate the commission of current ones.) If the crime is continuing and also is likely to result in future bodily harm, lawyer would probably have to disclose client secrets, to prevent harm. Or face sanctions.
I'm not a criminal lawyer, but there are rules. I'm just not sure what this guy's lawyer knows, or what he was taught. Also, some lawyers shouldn't be lawyers because, sociopath, C.F. former would be presidential candidate, now living in a van down by the river.

High dollar lawyers who know they have lucrative but sketchy clients will routinely instruct those clients to ONLY answer the questions they ask them directly, even in private, and to NEVER tell them "everything" they know. And that lawyer will phrase his questions to his client very carefully, even in private, to make sure that he never "finds out" anything that could expose him to sanctions. I took a legal ethics class once that explained this very carefully, as a way to guarantee you never broke the rules. It is never against the rules to not find out something, because a lawyer is not an investigator, just an advocate.
A smart client would realize immediately that a lawyer who does that is setting up his client so that he can be jettisoned quickly and easily if the situation goes bad, while still owing lots of fees - which is why a lot of lawyers love to work with really stupid (but rich) clients.

Also, as someone who occasionally flirts with the overweight / obese line on the BMI charts, I feel Trump's pain.
I'm currently closer to normal weight / overweight line, but it's an easy line to cross.
I don't think anyone who saw me 15 pounds heavier would consider me "obese" though. BMI doesn't differentiate between body types -- I have broader shoulders than average and am naturally pretty muscular.

The entire concept is at odds with the nature of true tolerance (I can like or dislike anyone, so long as I don't actually infringe their rights or do violence to them) and enshrines Thoughtcrime.

It's changed. I enjoy well played organ music, there was a festival near where I live where over 300 organists joined, with 2 days of live performances. A good friend who invited my wife and I, a very gay church organist (who is incredibly talented) openly said "yeah, it a queen convention, but you're gonna love the music!"

Supposedly McCabe said it was Kelly and Sessions. BUT I think you have to take this more as a measure of McCabe's willingness to lie than anything else. The whole 25th amendment issue was so idiotic - even a quick reading of the actual amendment shows that it is actually HARDER than impeachment, and that it has to be led by the Vice President. McCabe is a moron for having ever seriously considered it; but maybe he thought as an excuse for a coup, he could make it work.
