Demographics have been heading that way for awhile.
It won't be long until it's less "red versus blue" and more "rural versus urban" with the political battlefield shifting to big city exurbs and mid-sized cities well outside of large metro areas.
If anything, long term, you'll probably see some shift back towards Republicans in big cities, but things will need to get worse before that begins happening.

Demographics have been heading that way for awhile.
It won't be long until it's less "red versus blue" and more "rural versus urban" with the political battlefield shifting to big city exurbs and mid-sized cities well outside of large metro areas.
If anything, long term, you'll probably see some shift back towards Republicans in big cities, but things will need to get worse before that begins happening.

If we can't come up with Republican politicians who can win an honest majority in their own states, then the whole game is lost anyways. There's just no two ways about it. Scary, isn't it? Scary how humanity seems fated to keep learning some things over and over again?
It wasn't too long ago that some "smart folks" were panicking about a Sinclair Lewis style "It Can't Happen Here" dystopia.
Honestly, I think we're much more likely to end up dabbling in full blown socialism before fascism. I hope maybe a few isolated states like California and New York dabble by themselves first, and implode quickly enough to prevent things from tipping over nationally, but I'm not holding my breath.

Things are bad enough as it is. We did get a shot in the arm from the tax cuts--at least those who had the foresight to adjust withholding did.
By the time Cuomo's shit leadership is rectified, though, conditions are bound to be terrible.
Especially up here, we can't afford bad economic times.

I don't want them in VA either... we have enough issues with federal workers turning the state blue AND the GA didn't just offer them a crapload of taxpayer money... they changed the freedom of information law to make it easier for them to hide their and Amazon's dirty dealings.
