The New Normal: Los Angeles City Council Passes Blatantly Unconstitutional Law Requiring Anyone Seeking City Contracts to Disclose "Any" Associations with the NRA

Can we do that with Planned Parenthood, too? How about CAIR?

The NRA plans to sue, citing First Amendment grounds -- clear intent to intimidate people from joining political organizations in order to secure contracts necessary for their regular course of trade.

You know what you can't ask someone about in Los Angeles, or California as a whole?

Their criminal history.

That's sacrosanct, private information.

Someday I'll rewrite something I wrote when we were gaming out California Secession scenarios a couple years ago. Simply put, it would be relatively easy for say, no more than 2,000 special forces troops to completely paralyze and immobilize the entire state within a week, with almost no shots fired. Their cities are ridiculously non-self sustaining.

And then imagine the mobs rioting in LA once all of their cell phones were turned off and no one could turn them back on.

108 Gotta think the orphanages and foster care facilities, such as they are, in MX, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador are going to empty out pretty fast.

The cartels really into human trafficking (some observers estimate this is now a noticeable part of their top line, formerly almost entirely from drugs of course) should be refining/expanding their systems to exploit the new market opportunity. The cartels can now greatly fortify their networks of illegals in the US by getting members into no-touch "sponsor" household territory.

Expert observers note that given decades of increasingly outlandish legislation by courts (always to essentially dissolve US immigration law by creating/expanding "protections" for more and more categories of illegals), the provision sheltering "sponsor" households will likely quickly be expanded "judicially" to even further crimp ICE ROE.

I am really strongly considering leaving my home of CO because it's been fully taken over by the Marxists.

One thing that gives me pause about leaving, though: I have well-developed plans and supplies and everything, and it all kind of centers on the terrain here. I am confident that if things go hot, I (and a few others) can inflict a large amount of damage on the enemy here.

If I move, I will have to develop a whole new set of strategies and tactics, and very quickly.

I don't know that I can be as effective and destructive in a new area.

114 Someday I'll rewrite something I wrote when we were gaming out California Secession scenarios a couple years ago. Their cities are ridiculously non-self sustaining.

And then imagine the mobs rioting in LA once all of their cell phones were turned off and no one could turn them back on.

New Mexico is in the 10th District, Federal Courts. The "Due Process" violation of a constitutional right should get that law nuked pretty quickly. If they were smart, they would write the law so that anyone who's targeted has a right to have their appeal heard in front of a judge, BEFORE any decision is made as to what is to be done. I'm not saying that would be a good law, but that's what it would take to meet due process requirements. Without that, its going down very quickly.

Having the court be composed of religious minorities to better safeguard minority rights is recent, but it also guarantees (unjustified) backlashes against the entire population of those minorities, as it did every time the British elevated minorities to lord over colonial natives.

That kills physical transportation - and the real weak link is the power grid, and the States dependence on long term transmission lines. A few well placed charges of C4 on the legs of some strategically positioned transmission towers, and you can knock the entire power grid offline for 6 months. 181 Read the local-consent provision early today, didn't recall it reading that way, JS. But I need to check it again. And, a darker reading: proposed barrier route that is *not* agreed to by locals forms the basis for a more facially reasonable *lawfare* action by said locality to block. We're obviously years past the point where a judge wouldn't think twice about inserting wrench into gears with even that sort of creaky rationale.

Interstates and highways that serve as trucking routes. Most have a potential chokepoint that can be exploited.

Rail tracks.

Reservoirs.

Power stations.

Some cities have huge, centralized communications hubs that serve whole regions, and every city has ones that serve their areas. Most of these are fragile and poorly defended, and local emergency services were stupidly moved to digital a couple decades back.

It won't take much to turn their precious cities into graveyards in short order.

Yes, this is a shitty law passed by shitty people. But, you'd be surprised how little of Southern California is actually LA. This covers the city, not the county of LA (which is run by some nutty but not utterly crazy dems).

My hunch is that other LA county cities that are lib enclaves (WeHo, Malibu) will follow suit with this, but most other cities won't.

197 I really think they should let LA tie their own noose.

While suing to prevent this law is useful, having contractors report their NRA affiliation for a period of, lets say 6 months, and be denied contracts would create a scenario in which numerous contractors suffered real financial hardship.

This would set the stage for a class action lawsuit which the NRA could sponsor that had real damages.

1 - California secedes from the Union; as Elmer Fudd once said, Good widdance to bad wubbish;

2 - to avoid changing the flag and the makeup of the Senate, NYS splits into downstate NY and upstate NY.
I would also like the Sup Ct to clearly affirm that the 2nd Amendment means exactly what it says and any adult with a clean record can have a gun without all kinds of strings attached (eg, three character references who are not relatives)
I'd also like a pony, but I am willing to compromise on that.

214 >>Read the local-consent provision early today, didn't recall it reading that way, JS.

Yea, I haven't read the bill yet. I was just repeating what he said so I'm not making any judgements yet.

When hurricane Ike blew into Houston, people I knew who lived in the urban center were enjoying group BBQs around the community pool, because most people stored the bulk of their food in the form of frozen foods.
Come down, grab some food and take a waste-basket full of water from the pool back up to the place to flush the commode.

Of course, it didn't take too long before the city sewer systems were clogged and backed up.

254 Buy guns and ammo.

We war gamed that out around here.

The problem is, no one knows how long the chaos goes on before some level of order is achieved.

So some thugs try to break in to your house, once the door has been broken in, your security is a mess unless you can make effective repairs right away.

So at what distance do you set up your perimeter?

If you decide to take down a few people who cross that threshold and order is restored 24 hours later you go to prison. If order never gets restored and you hesitate, then you might be an early casualty.

Remember, unless you are real good at battle-field surgery, getting shot during the burning times will likely end up in death, so you can't let the threats close if you happen to have a long distance rifle. But again, what is your perimeter and what happens if order is restored?

The problem is, we don't have a crystal ball, the rules of engagement are wildly different depending on when/if rule is restored. too passive and you don't survive, too aggressive and you end up in prison.

279 One thing to keep in mind (now that we are fully into lawless post-constitutional America) is that the provisions of any law are often just the starting point - lawless judges and richly funded NGOs have been twisting and effectively negating immigration law for some time.

One of the major problems contributing to the catch/release disaster is a consent decree. (BTW, fixing same was not even requested by the administration, in at least the last, and I think the last two, immigration reform packages)

With the Child Trafficking Promotion Act (hat tip: Cong. Chip Roy), AKA sec. 224 of the current bill, it is easy to see courts translating the "protections" therein to the point where, in reality, ICE can be neutered by a whole range of illegals (no arrest or detention of "sponors" allowed).

And of course there is the (massive, key) impact on expectations/perceptions in target communities. The "Trump effect" on illegal entry of all kinds was dramatic, and short-lived, following his inauguration. Whatever he can manage under NE declaration remains to be seen, but the bill as written is at least kerosene for the fire, if not nitro-methane. Adversaries here are rational, and better informed all the time (I laugh and imagine the big human trafficking cartels hiring "govt. affairs" types to explain market impacts of latest US laws or policy changes - but in effect, something like that is in place).

The non-crazy working people of this state have no say in anything. You can wish the state destroyed and I don't take it personally -- but you know, they're destroying it anyway, you don't have to do anything.

This is US territory. It is not Mexico and it is not commie-land. No place should be ceded to the enemy. The Left is coming for all of us eventually. Look around you in your red state in the middle of the country and see all the unassimilated illegals and muslims. You're next and don't forget it. We will run out of places to hide from this thing, because that's part of the plan.

Recall that the Obama administration wanted to force Section 8 housing and preferred settlement by ghetto dwellers and illegal aliens any place that was not brown enough, on a block-by-block basis. . The objective was to leave no safe place and no freedom of association. They'll get right back to this and things like it, first chance they get.
