I want to make that clear. But if I were to lose it and start going around punching guys I don't like in the face, one of the first guys I'd punch in the face would be Bill Nye. There are many reasons for this. The first is because he's a smug, condescending d*ck. The second is that he has no formal science education or experience beyond an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. And this was back in the 1970s. Nye's claim to be a "science" guy is about as valid as Shaun's King claim to be a "black" guy. Both are shameless frauds. Both should be laughed out of public life. I mean, come on, a prop comic with a kids show is not how you do science. But since he can always be counted on to spout whatever progressive dogma is au courant, he'll always have a platform. Oh, and I hope you all can see the tweet down below; because I can't. After I posted a few disparaging remarks about Nye's qualifications in her thread, she blocked me. What a snowflake."

Willowed, talking about half the nation being functionally illiterate.
-- Data here: https://nces.ed.gov/naal/kf_demographics.asp Another example of "intermediate" literacy skills: "Document: Enter product numbers for office supplies on an order form, using information from a page in an office supplies catalog." Being able to find a page number in a catalog is a f*cking accomplishment to the educational system, and they celebrate that almost half the nation is able to do it. Nye has enough science education to know what he is preaching is a bunch of crap. But it is actually politics (mixed with Marxist religion) that he preaches, and he has made some bucks doing it.
imo it is likely he knows AGW is a myth, but he believes it is a vehicle for some dreamy UN global Utopia. He has been confronted with enough real science for him to be "red-pilled" on the science, if he was ever unclear. But he loves the attention, and maybe is a true commie. or he is so arrogant he is blinded with pride ... and likes the money and attention. He sure won't get anywhere based on his looks ... What I fervently hope is that somehow Newsom 4.5 billion that was earmarked for his choo choo will be clawed back.
The fed is funny like that. They usually have return requirements in case a project gets canceled or can't be completed and only IF they agree can the state usually keep it. I doubt they gave them the money it's in a contract that they have to file with the comptroller to get paid. And if it's not going towards an approved project, how will they qualify for that money? Trump could use it for his wall as mentioned above but just seeing him take it back from Newsom will be good enough. Pics would be an added bonus. Bill Nye will probably be weeping bitter tears over that court decision that the EPA just won
https://tinyurl.com/y2q4wlyb It actually should have been laughed out of court right away - the plaintiffs, "Environmental Scientists" who sat on study panels to tell us all how we are all going to DIE!! DIE!!! from CLIMATE CHANGE!!! were claiming that they had a Constitutional Right to be Paid by the EPA when they sat on those panels, whether the EPA wanted to or not. EPA took the bitter, divisive, political position that people sitting on advisory panels shouldn't be accepting pay from the body they were supposed to be advising, that this was an obvious conflict of interest. Judge said "guess what you're right!" Enviro's start to foam at the mouth, as their free Federal Gravy train is starting to get cut off. Posted by: Tom Servo at February 13, 2019 11:17 AM (Kpl3J) 66

Prayer list notes
Hi,folks. Sorry for the duplications on the prayer list and for information that hasn't been deleted, Normally Spouse is able to help me type to make the changes, but he was not here today by the time I submitted it to OM so I was just intended to send updates rather than the whole list, but I didn't make that clear to OM.-My error and I apologize. What I may do in the future is just have updates and new requests rather than the whole list, so my suggestion is-is that if you're a prayer warrior, if you haven't already done so please consider copying the list and hold on to it and then you can just add the updates and new requests on your own to that. As always your prayers for people are much appreciated! Thanks and God bless you! Posted by: FenelonSpoke at February 13, 2019 11:17 AM (AllCR) 70

Would have willowed:
The latest MREs have some tasty menu items, there are 24 of them, and freeze dried pork patty, "four fingers of Death", and Beans, in Tomato Sauce, etc, are not among them. However, the quality of the ingredients, while never quite stellar, has gone downhill. For example, the reason things like beef stew are tasty is long simmering makes tough cuts of beef tender. Stew meat considered too expensive, the .mil has taken to using something called "chunked and formed" beef scraps, held together with something called "meat glue". No, I'm not making this up. It takes an entire case of rations to scrape up a single large cup of coffee, and the kool aid mix will not dissolve in water. The entire meal rises to the level of a good snack, and results an amazingly large amount of trash and packaging. NATICK has done a good job, overall, but the suppliers are cutting corners. The cocoa powder used to be pretty damn good, now it tastes like it's mostly non-dairy creamer. They also include sugar-free items, not a good idea in a survival ration. My dad said after the war, a lot of guys re-enlisted, not really because of the food per se, but that was part of it. Rural areas that lived through the depression had a horrible time of it. Dirt floors, and no electricity was common. So three hots and cot, medical care, clothing, hot food and plenty of it had some things going for it. Not in HR so my opinion may be completely wrong, but being a Jeopardy winner is a great accomplishment that whoever is looking at your resume is NOT going to see every day. (If ever before.) If it's true that many resumes are given, what, 3-5 seconds of time, put Jeopardy right at or near the top. It's a perfect hook to get them to look at the rest of the resume, and will definitely stand out from others. Posted by: What's a Seawolf? at February 13, 2019 11:33 AM (yTfbH) 182

An undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering really isn't enough to know anything about climate. It's possible to have had a random elective that addresses earth science in some respect, but it's certainly not in the degree requirements.
Not that Earth and Planetary Science people don't include a whole lot of AGW true believers, true. But they've at least encountered the concept of "what proxies do we measure to determine paleo-temperature ranges?" Or any other elements of "why we know what we know." But I'll never quite forget sitting in a fourth year geology class a few years ago (I went back to school) and one of the top students, someone undoubtedly headed to grad school, expressing surprise at the information about how warm the earth used to be. It had just *never come up*. And our major was the only science major that it ever would have been on topic. So Mechanical Engineering? Just, you know, no. Once you've been really betrayed by a lover (not a casual one), it's very difficult to trust anyone again. Takes more time there are more markers that have to be passed and usually, unless the other person has had that happen to themselves and know the other person has too, they don't have the patience and feel they're being made to earn their way. Prayer beats despair. Sometimes I can't make it through all the prayer list. Sometimes I can't make it through my own.
My oldest friend T and his wife K lost their 19yo, youngest of four sons, to suicide, a week before Christmas. Their family need prayers everyday forever. Mom fell again last week, but when the x-rays showed nothing broken, she decided to fight through the bruising pain, ignore the wheelchair, and keep on walking (with the walker). Couldn't get to her workout class but at her trainer's insistence, takes time to stationary-cycle. For pain relief, full healing, and no more falls; let her keep sharp and as healthy as possible to her century birthday next year, and beyond. Mentioned here a few times over the years, Milady Webworker has a difficult, disfiguring, debilitating disorder about which doctors differ drastically. If there's been an answer to our prayers, in the past twenty-five years, it has not been healing, but at least it has not become worse for some time. Miraculous complete healing is my daily prayer. Our son and daughter-in-law are expecting their 2nd this Spring. (Gran'babieees!) For the Mama, the baby girl, the 1yo brother, and the weary Dad, for years to come. For our daughter and other son, struggling with health, relationships, jobs, life. My estranged older brother is still a hermit. For a healing revolution in his heart and mind. Maybe even reconciliation with Mom while she's still alive. Always hopeful, but peace in the Middle East seems more likely, alas. For his peace in any case. For our family's sake, for the sake of those whose lives we touch: escape from a crushing bind we've got ourselves into. A small sampling of the top tier. 💙 I believe in miracles; I believe prayers are answered. I don't believe they're handed out like candy on Halloween. It's hard to ask for even good things. Feels like, "bend the rules, just for us, would you, Heaven?" Then, when I walk outside and observe Nature in her glory, contemplate the miracle of all existence, I open my mouth to say "please," but find myself just saying, "thanks." Doesn't solve a thing. Helps a little bit, internally. ♪ "It is my will that yours be done, O Lord." He was sentenced to 71 months in prison last week by U.S. District Court Judge Beryl A. Howell in Washington, D.C., and will be deported after he has served his term, officials said. Thomas made his first call to Webster on June 9, 2014, identifying himself as David Morgan. He said that he was the head of the Mega Millions lottery and that Webster was the winner of $15.5 million and a 2014 Mercedes Benz, according to court documents. God doesn't punish people in a physical lake of fire, that's a metaphor. If you are created by God, your soul desires to be reunited with him and to attain the beatific vision. Not being able to attain that reunification causes the soul to be in pain, an agony of spirit which understood in the metaphorical, spiritual or anagological senses of interpreting scripture is a wrenching horrible pain.
Anything that doesn't tend toward good (or isn't neutral) is "irrational" in that it causes the opposite of good which we experience as pain. And regardless, God doesn't cause separation from him, people do that through choosing the irrational through their free will. Posted by: dagny at February 13, 2019 11:50 AM (nRWPy) 310

Once you've been really betrayed by a lover (not a casual one), it's very difficult to trust anyone again. Takes more time there are more markers that have to be passed and usually, unless the other person has had that happen to themselves and know the other person has too, they don't have the patience and feel they're being made to earn their way.
It's why older relationships are hard to start. So much baggage in the way. It may be time to finally say goodbye to the Opportunity rover. NASA will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. ET today to discuss the results of recovery efforts since a dust storm encircled Mars last year.
Opportunity hasn't communicated with engineers since June 10. Dust has blocked out the sunlight, and even the expected winds from November through January haven't helped to clear Opportunity's sensors and panels. Engineers tried different things to revive Opportunity, from sending repeated signals and commands to attempt to fix other potential issues. I agree with Alabama. In my Christian understanding You are saved by grace, but it comes through faith which is a gift of the Holy Spirit. The work which God would have us do is to be transformed into the image of Christ as much as possible in this life and do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do Basically we have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God, but God redeems us but we're not just supposed to sit on the shelf just waiting to go up to heaven. We're supposed to be what God calls us to do and be and about God's business. But don't beat yourself up about your lack of works. Trust in the Lord for your salvation-a process that has happened and is happening and will happen.. Posted by: FenelonSpoke at February 13, 2019 01:24 PM (AllCR) 399
There is no need to denigrate holders of Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering to make a criticism of Bill Nye.
Bill Nye is a fool and a liar. OTOH, he gets paid a lot, so maybe he is not such a fool as he appears. Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering programs commonly include basic physics, basic chemistry, calculus, and thermodynamics, none of which are trivial. In fact, at my university(ISU, BSEE) the engineering department bragged that half of the engineering candidates would drop out by the end of the first year. Posted by: iowaan at February 13, 2019 03:11 PM (LY6C+) 400
A quick look at Nye's wiki page shows he is not unintelligent - Cornell engineering grad, Boeing engineer for a decade. But his job for the past 3+ decades has been entertainment, not engineering. Its breathtaking that he feels free to pontificate on conception and pregnancy, medicine and ethics both. It would be so even if he stayed in engineering.
