Brutal Poll For the Media: 69% Say the Media Is More Interested In Pushing Its Opinions Than Gathering Facts

The poll found that more than two-thirds of the public (69%) think the news media "is more concerned with advancing its points of view rather than reporting all the facts." Only 29% of the public disagrees with that statement.
In other words, nearly seven out of 10 adults in the country think the Post ad's blather about "gathering the facts" is bull.
That includes 72% of independents, 95% of Republicans, and -- surprisingly enough -- 43% of Democrats.
There's more. Fifty-nine percent say that the press covers issues in a way "that seeks to delegitimize the views held by President Trump and his supporters."
Sixty percent of independents and 93% of Republicans agree with that.
Also, more than half (53%) say they agree that the media "prematurely declared President Trump guilty of collusion with Russia without sufficient evidence."

I'm honestly curious about that myself. People are moving more and more to streaming and small bits of information shared on social media rather than watching news shows (I mean, other than family of people working for the shows, pundits, or 80 year olds).

That doesn't bode well at all for news channels or news shows as we now know them. Newspapers and magazines are already basically dead, and people only use news websites as grenades, throwing an article at their opponent often without reading them.

What happens next, where do we go from here? I don't see any way through it, and neither has any sci fi writer or futurist I've read. Maybe there isn't any way, maybe we collapse now and have to rebuild from the rubble, wondering at how these amazing huge buildings and ruins of structures ever could have been made like Angles and Saxons after the Romans left England.

Twitter and Facebook put a wrench into that for a while, but I think the country is beginning to move away from using the services as news sources exclusively.

I believe we're moving again towards a place where open partisanship is even more apparent, but the differentials in influence are much smaller.

I never go by polls. Just by what people are saying, and the energy they have in their voices, etc. I live in a place that straddles the line between between American and Soviet, so I get both viewpoints a lot.

I think you have it reversed. The monolitic TV MFM sold its soul to the DNC and leftism, and the DNC destroyed any vestige of credibility the institutions had. Since the 80s, alternative media of various forms has been eating away at the monopoly, and now that all you need to run a news show and get the word out is a cell phone and web link the MFM is dead as an institution. And it is too late for the new wave of censorship of Silicon Valley to stop it - if things go to far providers can just encrypt the data to avoid the censorbots.

Actually clipper ships only had a crew of 25-50. Only warships had large crews to work around those who would be killed in a battle and keep fighting. Guys who paid the bills had to economize.
