The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

I have an old and dear friend (whose ass I whipped in the 50 butterfly in 7th grade) who was intensely anti-Trump before the election. I have another old and dear friend who almost literally floored me when, in spring 2016 over cocktails and oysters he told me that he was intensely pro-Trump. Both are intelligent, well educated, well read, and would be considered intellectual (in the non-pejorative sense) by most people.

So what's the difference?

One judged Trump by his words and mannerisms and bluster and over-the-top behavior. One judged Trump by his statements of purpose and his actions, and seemed disinterested in the surface.

That sounds like how the media should be reporting on the President, yet they cannot look past their own intellectual failings and their insular lives hemmed in by the Acela and the Hudson River and Interstate 5.

Here's an article from last summer that is spot-on, and is even more applicable today!
Everyone Is Smart Except Trump

It really is quite simple. Everyone is smart except Donald J. Trump. That’s why they all are billionaires and all got elected President. Only Trump does not know what he is doing. Only Trump does not know how to negotiate with Vladimir Putin. Anderson Cooper knows how to stand up to Putin. The whole crowd at MSNBC does. All the journalists do.
It's amazing that they gleefully report every stumble, every odd phrase, every overheated statement, yet carefully ignore the facts of his rather successful economic policies and his promising foreign policy, and most important, his ruthless never-back-down battles in the culture war.

The Seedier Media never have negotiated life and death, not corporate life and death, and not human life and death. They think they know how to negotiate, but they do not know how. They go to a college, are told by peers that they are smart, get some good grades, proceed to a graduate degree in journalism, and get hired as analysts. Now they are experts, ready to take on Putin and the Iranian Ayatollahs at age 30.
Luckily, my slow-butterflying friend has reevaluated President Trump on the facts and has come around...at least in part.

Too bad the people who are paid to be impartial can't manage the same thing.

To my knowledge, Salena Zito is the only mainstream press reporter to make this point. She did so in The Atlantic a bit before the election:
It's a familiar split. When he makes claims like this, the press takes him literally, but not seriously; his supporters take him seriously, but not literally.

She's the only one who "got it" in the mainstream press, and she was right.

Anyone who utters that is either blindingly arrogant or profoundly evil. You make your pick.

All of them are naive. Regardless of moral arguments (which are voluminous) Socialism is predicated on the perfectibility of Man. Man is flawed and imperfect and perfectible, so Socialism is a dead letter from moment zero.

This. Communism can't work even with the "right" leadership.

Suppose for a moment that our founding generation, perhaps the greatest collection of statesmen in a single generation in human history, had been Communist instead of republican.

Would their brilliance have been enough to centrally plan our society, outweighing the collective decision-making abilities, local experience, and individual knowledge of the rest of us? No.

Would their high-minded patriotism and moral rectitude have been such an inspiration to all of us lesser men, that we would fall into line with socialism voluntarily, and not require a reign of terror to impose it on us? No.

Anyone who thinks good men can make the impossible possible is a retard.

123 My brother was actually pro-Trump in 2016. (I was more like dear-gawd-not-Hillary, even though I believed that she'd probably win.)

Anyway, what my brother said was to look at his kids.

He was impressed by the fact that they were all hardworking, no one had a reality show, everyone seems to have started as "labor" (at least the boys), and that this said more about Trump than anything else because they certainly could have gone the tabloid route.

For me, Hillary was a sure thing that I wanted no part of and Trump was chaos, which at least offered the possibility of good outcomes. The devil I knew was *not* better than random chance, and I preferred chance.

And so far there are a bunch of incredibly impressive results. Doesn't mean that I don't recognize his essential statist outlook, but every single day the sun comes up and Trump is STILL not Hillary Clinton.

150 Eeyore, I had my gall bladder out a while back. The surgery itself was no big deal, assuming it's laproscopic (sp) like I had. They give you the anaesthetic, three incisions, yank the gall bladder, stitch you up, you're out in 48 hours, sometimes 24. The surgery is performed all the time and it's well understood.

The big deal with me has been dealing with the fact that my system now deals with fat in a, shall we say, less graceful manner. Adapt to that and it's as if they never removed it.

That's the difference between their fuckwitted system and systems that have actually worked.

Socialists, by comparison, can't point to a single success, so it's gotta be "not REAL socialism".

I've been spitballing ideas on a few ONTs for a Moronopoly board game, and made a 1st draft of the game. I figure it's time to run it past you daywalkers. Except for the tokens, because I'm still researching the best deal for them. I think I'm close on that.

The PDF linked below contains drafts for the main box, the smaller box (for money, tokens, and cards), the board, the draw cards, the money, and the deeds.

A couple notes: please don't send any of this to print, it's a draft.

It works exactly like Monopoly, except I included an optional "Death Card." You'll know which one.

Also, since most of the properties are threads I settled on "Comments" and "Socks" for houses and hotels.

I'll bookmark this thread - feel free to leave suggestions/blistering criticisms.

Also, if you look at this and find anything that's an outright error, or something you think really needs to change, please let me know at the email in my nic.

That makes it easier for me, and I'm lazy.

I think there are 2 reasons: 1. They don't want to pay someone the money that an experienced employee can rightfully command and 2. All they want is some kid straight out of kollidge with a degree. Doesn't matter what kind or if the degree or the school is any good or not since it's HR doing the hiring, not the Dept Manager a lot of the time.

Looking back on my job experience, it seems like what ever you have it's the wrong thing. If you have credentials, they want experience that you don't have.

If you have experience, they want credentials. If you have both experience and credentials, they can't afford to hire you because you would want too much money, and they would rather hire a younger person and train them on the job.

It's a negotiating tactic.

As I look at today's headlines, it seems that exactly the same thing is happening. Except they're using "crime" and "breeding"-- via Muslims-- to conquer the continent. The eastern European nations are resisting, but it seems like Sweden, Britain and Germany are OK with conquest through breeding.

The second guy is concerned about results and doesn't care how you look doing it.

Donald Trump is what I refer to as a "real world guy." He gets his intelligence through experience moreso than from a book, but he'll use both. Facts mean things. Truth is important. The latest buzzwords are faddish bullshit that hides a lack of knowledge. He knows exactly what the phrase "Tried and True" means and this helps to guide him. He acknowledges God and understands that there are things much larger than him in this life and he doesn't know everything. He has a good sense of humor, but you need to also be a RWG in order to understand it. He's also humble and will admit it to himself and others if he makes a mistake, which he tries hard not to do.

He treats people like people and is able to put himself in their position to see how he'd feel is the same thing happened to him.
I've been fortunate enough to have worked with guys like him. I try my best to be a RWG myself. It's this type of man that the Progs want to destroy because we question pretty much everything. Our Bullshit Radar is on and functioning all the time. We live from the inside out, not from the outside in, IYKWIMAITYD.

Guarantee Nancy is planning to cancel it when Trump is on his way over. If that happened, guarantee no one would say it is petty or inappropriate or whatever.

But that won't happen. Trump won't get caught out like that. If Pelosi doesn't confirm by a certain time he'll do it somewhere else.

Oh, for sure - they have all been archived, indexed and handed off to the lawyer --- and will also be handed to twitter.

I so hope that there's a part of this team's action that includes challenging twitter's unequally applied terms of service. Some of the ugly tweets were not only kept up until threatened with a lawsuit, but the accounts were reported and *not* suspended, not even temporarily. Now there's a lawsuit that could get a big settlement AND make a difference in free speech.

According to the family lawyer, she is not in a vegetative state or a coma, as was reported. She is conscious, disabled, retarded, and requires massive support. She can see, can recognize things and can make facial gestures.

So that means that she likely endured the entire thing.

I am interested that two doctors are now gone. One 'resigned' and the other suspended. my guess is that neither one detected the pregnancy, and that they are staying a step ahead of losing their license.

Technical legal point - if it's not part of a filed, ongoing legal case it's not considered "evidence". Important Lesson - if you've got anything incriminating in your possession, you best destroy it and all copies as fast as you can, before something happens and it does become "evidence" of something or other.

Nah, Poitier got starring roles and movies around him. Jim Brown was a co-co-co star with like six lines. They didn't mind having blacks in films if they were small parts and minimal scripting, but only one major guy at a time.

It was two years ago, iirc, that a couple of bussses got trapped on the Pennsylvania Turnpike when a snowstorm stopped traffic dead. It was a group of teenagers returning from the March for Life event in DC. A lot of positive press ensued as the students all were well-behaved, had little roadside prayer services, and survived with little drama. A positive 'human interest' story.

Obviously all of those fears have been put to rest. He's been right about so many things---he made what I thought (at the time) was an over the top comment about his apartment at Trump Tower being bugged--turns out he was right. He made the comment that fake news is the enemy of the people. A harsh claim, but last weekend's events have shown me that not only does the press not give a damn about violence toward the opposition (us), they actually encourage it.
The media doesn't hate Trump because he's incompetent. That hate him because he's been right about everything, exposing the deep state and a shadow government that really does run this country.
I'm going to donate to his 2020 campaign, and if I can, I'll volunteer my time too.

577 To Saints fans, I noticed this no call on head to head contact started around week 11 during the regular season. These no calls always happen in the fourth quarter against the team mounting a comeback. The penalty, if called, would have placed the team deep in the red zone. This happened to the Redskins twice in a row during week 11 and 12 giving the Redskins a losing record. My analysis is the NFL is weighing which teams will sell more Nike products if allowed into the playoffs. In the case of Saints v Rams the math is simple: LA is a big market with lots of Nike Morons, ergo Saints had to lose. Add to this fact that re-establishing LA as an NFL market is more important than a Saints Super Bowl.

Yeah being dumb kids is part of growing up, we do not and cannot expect them to show wisdom they have not learned yet. Its frustrating that they take so long, and its sad when they have to learn but that's part of life. You have to give young people some room to make mistakes at that point in their life, and not destroy them forever for it. Hence, the principle behind seaing juvenile criminal records.
