The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"After she threatened to cancel the SOTU, Trump told Pelosi her upcoming trip overseas was cancelled. Boom. Because of the shutdown. He also canceled a planned trip by several of his Cabinet members to the annual economic forum and schmooze-fest in Davos, Switzerland. So where is the downside to *any* of this? I'm telling you, this government shutdown is getting better and better each day."

Friday With Bardot:

bardot 11.jpg
After I posted a pic of BB last week, a number of you morons immediately stared clamoring for MOAR BARDOT. So, being the pimp that I am, I've got a number of Bardot pics and I'll be making this a Friday feature for awhile. Although I think this photo doesn't look much like her. If I didn't know it was BB, I'd probably say it was a young Pamela Anderson.

28 Willowed, I know, but I thought it had to do with Mars' name being mud at that time. There were some wretched Mars-based movies around that time, and so they dropped the "Of Mars" from the main title?
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at January 18, 2019 11:12 AM (I2dne)

===========

That was the reason for the drop of Mars from the title, yeah. But people put too much emphasis on the name change for the movie failing.

The ad campaign was a disaster in general. The trailers are terrible, assume that you already know who John Carter is (since he's such a cultural mainstay \sarc), and never really establish anything about the story.

That's the biggest fuckup in 2016 on the part of the Dems and their fake-conservative shills; their behavior was so abhorrent as to drive many of the devoutly religious to decide that effective secular leadership was better than moonbats in office.

116 A local lady that I know posted a thing yesterday with a picture of native americans that said that if you weren't NA then you were a migrant and had no right to say anything *at all* about who else got to be here.

I didn't respond. What would be the point?

All of humanity has been "migrating" since Adam and Eve got kicked out of the Garden. We've "migrated" to every single corner of the entire world. Native Americans migrated from Siberia all the way to the end of Argentina.

But the biggest reason that it's pointless to respond is that not a single one of these people is honestly "open border". Not a single one of them is advocating for us to stop issuing Visas and just let anyone come, or stop sending people home who overstay their Visa. Not a one of them is advocating that all a farmer from South Africa has to do is get a plane ticket to get here and they can stay forever with no actual application for refuge or assylum. Or plane loads of dudes from Russia escorting mail-order-brides...

But I think I'm going to start pushing that notion... if someone claims to be Open Border... make them own it.

They are unaware that the bill has passed the House already

They just have no clue what is going on. They think Trump is somehow just creating a shutdown by fiat, and think that the Republicans are refusing to allow a bill to reach the floor. 162 Hello Horde.

Yes, this is me in the prayer chain.

I am writing to ask for your help. To be clear, I have asked for and received help already. I wanted all to know that. Circumstances are such that I find myself needing ask another time.

-Calm Mentor is going through a very difficult time right now. He is at his last bit of money. Support is appreciated. Please pray that he gets a job.

https://www.gofundme.com/help-with-time-to-find-employment

The campaign tells the story, but this is my situation:

I am partially handicapped, with limited mobility and only 25% use of my strong right arm. Up until June, I was still able to drive for Uber, and did so for over a year. I was deactivated as a driver at that time.

My only family is a brother who I was helping financially while working. My "friends", I found, consisted of those from a marriage of 17 years which ended three years ago. I have been turned down for welfare benefits because, as reported, I made too much money this last year to qualify. I applied for SSDI, and am awaiting their first denial, as I'm told this is their standard practice.

While working, I had built up a small reserve of money, one that was used up recently to pay an oral surgeon to treat a badly abscessed tooth.

I have been everywhere in applying for jobs, and in the past 6 months have only gotten 3 days of good freelance work, and 5 days of temp work. I will find something, as failure is not an option. In the meantime, I am looking at homelessness very soon. This is the reason for my request. Anything you could do would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for listening, and I have put my email in my nic if anyone would like to contact me off of the board. I will post this once only per thread for today and tomorrow. Be well.

3D is apparently an easy and rather cheap addition to existing 4K projectors. There's no appreciable difference in price on models that have 3D and those that don't, and they just keep churning them out.

The sliver of the market that's interested in projectors must like 3D a lot more than the general TV market.

Portland does seem to be a particular brand of "special."

And what's frustrating isn't that this lady was *wrong* it was that she was stupid... which seems mean to me to say because I know her and she's a nice person... but what was the argument? It was that people who are migrants can't morally object to any other migrants EVER. But can the Native Americans object to migrants then? Logically they're migrants too, but if the argument is that Native Americans have a special status to object, then by advocating migration she's doing violence to the Natives and their sovereignty. In which case, she ought to "go back" to wherever her family came from.

It's the incoherence of it.

Like asking if Heaven has a wall.

One of the things that helps 3D a lot is the original brightness of the image, since the 3D effect dims the image so much.

Immortals was released in 3D, but because the original image was so dark, the whole thing looked flat in 3D.

Gravity tends to be very bright for things that aren't space, so it allows for things to pop out more.

Blue dot to left of Russia and on the Baltic Sea is Kaliningrad Oblast.

Kaliningrad is a city in the administrative centre of Kaliningrad Oblast, a Russian exclave between Poland and Lithuania on the Baltic Sea. In the Middle Ages it was the site of the Old Prussian settlement Twangste. In 1255, during the Northern Crusades, a new fortress named Konigsberg was built by the Teutonic Knights. Konigsberg became the capital of the Duchy of Prussia, a fiefdom of Poland from 1525-1657, and later East Prussia, Germany. It was heavily damaged during World War II, and its population fled or were removed by force. Konigsberg became a Russian city, renamed Kaliningrad in 1946. At the 2010 Census, Kaliningrad's population was 431,902.

obligatory sjw shit, and yet almost the entire movie was about sexual harassment in the workplace for fun and profit.

The power lines are already insulated, by several meters of air, which is a pretty effective insulator. Judge be dumb.

Revelation 21:12-13 New International Version (NIV)

12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west.

She is gorgeous in that pic. I would not have recognized her from that. OM should use that as his next "I bet you don't know who this is" puzzle.

I was thinking more of her later stuff like "Barb Wire":
