Robert Francis O'Rourke (AKA "Beto" Despite Having No Hispanic Connections Whatsoever): Maybe We Need to Ditch the Constitution

If there's no Constitution, there is no America. It's the document by which we agreed (and continue to agree, if reluctantly) to belong to a nation called the United States.

If we're ditching the Constitution, we're ditching America. Which is actually fine by me -- but if you attempt to ditch the Constitution and keep actual Americans enslaved under a no-longer-American government, expect violence.

Because that's straight-up tyranny.

From a Washington Post interview:

Throughout the two-hour interview -- which was often interrupted by bystanders urging him to run for president -- O'Rourke boomeranged between a bright-eyed hope that the United States will soon dramatically change its approach to a whole host of issues and a dismal suspicion that the country is now incapable of implementing sweeping change.

When asked which it is, O'Rourke paused.

"I'm hesitant to answer it because I really feel like it deserves its due, and I don't want to give you a -- actually, just selfishly, I don't want a sound bite of it reported, but, yeah, I think that’s the question of the moment: Does this still work?" O'Rourke said. "Can an empire like ours with military presence in over 170 countries around the globe, with trading relationships . . . and security agreements in every continent, can it still be managed by the same principles that were set down 230-plus years ago?"

It doesn't work for many on the left. So let's compromise and split the country into states that still cherish the Constitution and those who want to be free to date other political systems.

And the Constitution is already shredded, ace.

Just to pick the most obvious area in which the Constitution has been effectively nullified, judicial lawlessness. It's been going on for a while - but now has reached/passed the crisis stage.

Though Trump's continued acquiescence in it, and the legal cult's ignorant/terrified belief there is no other choice that surely helps explain that, tend to obscure just how desperate things are.

Yes, this is me in the prayer chain.

I am writing to ask for your help. To be clear, I have asked for and received help already. I wanted all to know that. Circumstances are such that I find myself needing ask another time.

-Calm Mentor is going through a very difficult time right now. He is at his last bit of money. Support is appreciated. Please pray that he gets a job.

https://www.gofundme.com/help-with-time-to-find-employment

The campaign tells the story, but this is my situation:

I am partially handicapped, with limited mobility and only 25% use of my strong right arm. Up until June, I was still able to drive for Uber, and did so for over a year. I was deactivated as a driver at that time.

My only family is a brother who I was helping financially while working. My "friends", I found, consisted of those from a marriage of 17 years which ended three years ago. I have been turned down for welfare benefits because, as reported, I made too much money this last year to qualify. I applied for SSDI, and am awaiting their first denial, as I'm told this is their standard practice.

While working, I had built up a small reserve of money, one that was used up recently to pay an oral surgeon to treat a badly abscessed tooth.

I have been everywhere in applying for jobs, and in the past 6 months have only gotten 3 days of good freelance work, and 5 days of temp work. I will find something, as failure is not an option. In the meantime, I am looking at homelessness very soon. This is the reason for my request. Anything you could do would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for listening, and I have put my email in my nic if anyone would like to contact me off of the board. I will post this once only per thread for today and tomorrow. Be well.

The left is looking over their shoulders at the Yellow Vests in France. There a socialist slid to the 'middle' to win election, then reverted to his socialist self.

It didn't work out well. Both the left and the right want him gone. Which they've proven, week after week, for over two months. Approval ratings in the low 20's.

So the left in this country is in a quandary. Being in the middle won't win the presidency. Their two options: As far left as possible, or being more right then Donald Trump.

Expect some real winners, some unbelievable craziness in the coming months.

Sears also made an ill-advised purchase in buying KMart. Snatching up Lands End and then destroying that brand didn't help it any either. Top it off with their generous pension program from years ago and you can see that this was going to end badly for Sears.

keep actual Americans enslaved under a no-longer-American government,
expect violence.

Can someone parse this for me? What is he talking about? The article doesn't really help. Is he saying our military presence, trading relationships and security arrangements shouldn't exist and that new principles would abolish them? Is he saying new principles would alter flaws in how they are implemented? If so how? If he thinks there are problems and his new set of principles will remove control from citizens and give more control to bureaucrats and politicians, what guarantees does he give that this system will not spiral out of control? And what makes him think that our nation has been governed by the same principles for 230 years and that such principles have not been slowly eroded? The most frustrating thing about liberals is that they say things and you can't, like Batman, get into the locked room with Heath Ledger and compel them to clarify what they mean by anything. I went in and read the discussion about it. Looks like they are going with something like a POC tag to make it easier to find designers that are POC.

The problem is that historically, there hasn't been a lot of need for knit garments in areas with hot weather. These seem to be the same areas that POC live in. I know a bit about Peruvian knitters. The stuff I'm interested in is from Scotland and Scandinavia. But, if they want a POC tag, I can live with that.

592 584 SOTU is a speech owed to the citizens not Congress. It's done there out of courtesy and to enter it automatically into the congressional record. Taking it to a televised rally would accomplish the delivery.

No. It's a duty of the president to Congress. It's a constitutional mandate that the executive offer a yearly update to the representatives of the people.

Yeah, it's "wa ga doo goo". more or less, barring the accent of the speaker. The "ou" is the french "ou", like in "frou frou", or "Toulouse". Like english "oo" in "boot". Acts a bit like the Welsh "w" as well. A bit consonanty, a bit diphthongy. There's always wierdness when cramming an illiterate foreign language into Roman orthography.

Posted by: mallfly the Peach of Hoboken at January 16, 2019 02:25 PM (ZqRa6)

Absolutely.

Last I heard the Constitutional requirement (and Nancy has no say whatsoever in THAT) is that the President deliver an official document outlining what he's been up to over the last year.

So he does that. Delivered right to Congress in a nice envelope.

He can give the *speech* anywhere he wants to give it.

A message. Of course, it can be in letter form.

I see no problem with televising it straight from the Oval Office (or anywhere, really), as long as it is offered to Congress.

He really should be finding the absolute best optics to send the message anyway.

The country can't split and then coexist. That's not going to happen. It would have been easier for the Union and the Confederacy to coexist, and that would never have happened either.

This is going to get settled with a winner and a loser.
