The Morning Report - 1/11/19

borfir.jpg

Good morning kids. The weekend is here at last and President Trump's 100% justified, legal and determined stand against the Democrat-Left-Media Complex's refusal to secure our borders and ensure our safety for short term political gain and long term political domination (and other evil ideological goals), with the concomitant political theater of the government "shutdown" continues. The media's horrible performances from everyone from failed manicurist Anna Navarro to failed man Jm J Acosta and most disastrously from that hostage video of Cuck Schemer and Nancy Palsi serve not as cogent counterargument to the President but as an underscore in double red lines with exclamation points as to how horribly, dangerously wrong they are. I think this past week has made me come to the realization that it's not necessarily that Trump is so brilliant (and that said, I think he does play at a level that is at lest two or three steps ahead of the Dems) it's just that the Dems are so obvious in their strategy and tactics that almost anyone can minimally beat them at their own game, and if you're someone like Trump, totally own them. The key to it is actually getting into the metaphorical sewer with them and holding their heads under the effluent spigot. We have never had anyone do it before. And Trump does it with ease, not because he's malicious or mean; for all his tough, no-nonsense businessman image, I get the strong sense that he's probably one of the nicest, most decent guys out there. Just look at how he treats our military and law enforcement people as an example. And for all the handwringing about Trump being a crude gavone from Queens, that is exactly what America needs at this time to beat these bastards. But I digress.

With the Dems insisting that there will be no funding for any wall or border enforcement, while Palsi clatters her dentures and burps up infrastructure spending on roads in order to help the invaders enter our country as smoothly as possible, the President has all but exhausted every legislative effort and has announced his willingness, if not reluctance, to invoke a national emergency to secure the funding required to build the wall. Naturally, the Left is set to fly in Judge Buch M. Danno from Molokai to override the Constitution and legal Executive Branch authority along with placing want ads in the Village Voice (or some still extant rag) for thugs, goons, miscreants and other assorted criminals to riot at considerably less than $15 an hour.

I suppose one can make a strong warning against this considering the next Democrat president - GOD FORBID - will abuse it to literally suspend the Constitution to seize guns, the internet and whatever else that isn't nailed down, but since the age of Obama, we have crossed the Rubicon a long time ago. And with the Democrat Partly all but shedding its chrysalis of phony loyal opposition-hood and metamorphosing into the tyrannical anti-Americans they always have been, we are in for a bumpy ride over the next few years. Yet again, I digress. Circling back to Judge Tiny Bubbles, considering all the transgressions against the legitimate exercising of Executive Branch authority over the past two years and the administrations reliance on the very branch that committed the transgression in the first place to rectify the situation, I would cheer loudly if, after the President announced his intention to invoke a national crisis to circumvent normal legislative/budgetary procedures to secure our border and the more-than-likely instantaneous response from "5-0," the administration released the following communique:

Having exercised his legal and Constitutionally mandated executive authority by invoking the National Emergencies Act of 1976, the President does not recognize the clearly unconstitutional and egregious power grab by the Judiciary in ordering a halt to the aforementioned and his executive order to secure our border and construct a border wall. Therefore, the President and his administration declare any stay by the Judiciary to be null and void.

...and go sit on a sideways pineapple. In all seriousness, this also paradoxically both redresses the insanity that goes back to Marbury vs Madison as well as sets a dangerous precedent for any future Democrat president (GOD FORBID). But, that party, sadly aided and abetted by a weak, feckless, complicit and since the early 60s big government New Deal GOP-e, in its never-ending quest to overthrow the nation as founded, is responsible for tearing at the fabric of the rule of a just and stable law and has brought us to this point of having to do things that I never imagined possible. I guess we have to destroy the Constitution in order to save it, right? (*pukes*). Anyway, lots of excellent links including the good Roger Simon and of course Daniel Greenfield who rightly claims that immigration is indeed our number one threat to national security.

To politics we go, where in the subset of Democrat scandals which will receive little to zero attention or explained away by the MFM, the Alabama election shenanigans is now revealing that along with Obama operatives, Fusion-GPS might have had a hand in sabotaging Roy Moore's campaign, more revelations of the Bernardo Sandersnista '16 campaigns sexual harassment scandal, and champion of the common man Ocasio-TacoRosado had her campaign fined for workers comp violations. She's from the block... Block Island.

Elsewhere, the Senate passes a bill to pay the DC bureaucrats but only after the shutdown ends, Steve Daines introduces a bill to prevent lawmakers from getting paid during the shutdown (good political move), Ol' Yeller is loving him some Trump, you big dummy!, Andrew Cui-Bono Cuomo makes a groan-worthy #MeToo statement, several pieces highlighting the internecine war within the Democrat Party including one feel-good analysis by the great Conrad Black, Kamala-Toe looks like she's going to announce as a Draft "Mickey" O'Rourke movement is forming, suddenly Alabamians are not so hot on Doug Jones, and several links on the Democrat Party's now open official anti-Israel anti-Semitism.

First Amendment and Fake News Fakery: Rabbi Fischer guts Jm J Acosta and Lloyd Billingsley does the same to George Will.

Mueller Inquisition: Good piece slamming the Deep State DoJ for covering up and spoliation evidence. This shit on its own destroys societies and nations and yet totally lost in the sauce.

Guns and Butter: GOP introduces legislation to expand second amendment rights while the Democrats do the opposite.

International: Chi-Coms deploy missiles in response to US Navy cruising in the South China Sea, Secretary of State Pompeo destroys Obama's obsequiousness in a great Cairo speech, Iran turning into Venezuela, the Turks are going after the Kurds but downplaying the US Syria withdrawal as a reason, and Germany's response to I keeeeeel you is "tell me where it hurts."

We-All-Slam-For-I-Slam: Toronto synagogue sez "dhimmi all the lights now, baby," and a military judge orders the Navy SEAL being railroaded to remain in the slammer until the trial. Feh.

Domestic Policy and Bureaucracy: first California came for the straws and I said nothing, DoJ in bed with big gambling (not Trump), Louisiana's Edwards wants more of your money, and the top 5 states that need Uncle Sugar's sugar.

Crime and Punishment: a possible crack in the JonBenet Ramsey murder mystery and suicides among cops is up thanks to Obama/Holder/Lynch and Ferguson.

Healthcare: As the NIH continues giving money for research with butchered baby bits, they will give free healthcare... to illegal aliens.

FemiNazi News: "Januhairy" is busting out all over, mostly from armpits and panties, the Netherlands is persecuting the Church for being normal, and how to fight back against the mass emasculation.

From hither and yon, Whoopi Rape-Rape is ready to leave America (let me know when she does), a look at Peter Jackson's fantastic World War One film and finally a truly must-read about racism and what the Democrat-SJW Cultural Revolutionaries have wrought.
Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

She veritably assured me that, as a white woman, I couldn't be expected to understand the "black experience" in America.

That is so sad.

48 This latest JonBenet confession has elements the others didn't -- the pedo lived near the Ramsey house at the time of the killing, he apparently was obsessed with the girl, he reportedly made a contemporaneous confession to his friend that he'd "hurt" a little girl in Boulder the day after the murder, etc.

But sadly, the CO cops did such a shitty job of preserving the crime scene at the Ramsey house, that we will probably never know for sure who killed that poor child.

proposals this week in the Senate with Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D.,

attempting to expand gun-carry protections across the country.

John Cornyn DIABLO CR 31

AND........

Five other DIABLOs have joined with the communists to criminalize private gun sales which will do nothing but harm honest people. Criminals don't obey any law. Much less stupid gun control laws that have never worked. The five traitors are Reps. Peter King (R-NY, CR 24), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA, CR 2, Fred Upton (R-Mich. CR 26), Chris Smith (R-NJ, CR 36), and Brian Mast (R-FL, CR 44). Why not? They ARE Democrats in all but label only, hence DIABLO. I say again, assholes like this are the reason Republicans can never get anything done in congress. And these 5 assholes are all in safe Democrat districts. 92 Before reading the content, I wanted to point out this:

https://tinyurl.com/y73x2pcg

Michael Brenden Dougherty is a NRO Never Trumper. Yet, mirabile dictu, he is on the right track here in defense of Tucker.

And that raises a question with me. I've long felt that SOME of the abuse of SOME anti-Trump cons is excessive, of a kind with (but not so bad as) the Never Trump paradigm. The question is, how should we deal with the salvageable ones?

One key distinction is, I think, whether they have actually jettisoned long held beliefs, in hatred of Trump (Ahoy!) Another is between those whose beliefs were never really conservative at all.

I see two sorts of possible Prodigal Sons here. On this point I've long been indulgent of libertarians. The true believers there seem to me to be saying what they've always said. So why attack, say, Cooke, on this point. (I even apply this to the Koch brothers. Why would I have expected them to be on my side all the time? They weren't when Madcow was exposing them as the found of evil, and they aren' now.)

The others, like Dougherty, seem mostly to be on the religious side. (Douthat, Dreher, Morrissey, even Shapiro on a good day.) The truth is we need at least some people like that. Partly it's a matter of seeing how bad things are. Actually, Morrissey did vote right for that reason.

But I do note that the mass of Never Trump cons of the worst sort are often a kind of libertarianism with water variety, like Goldberg. I doubt these guys have any hope.

He had many faults, but former VA governor Bob McDonnell won part of this war by "finishing the sentence." A lot of conservative principles are sound, but sometimes don't lend themselves to instinctive approval ("you get free stuff" is easier to understand/support than "lower taxes contribute to corporate growth, which leads to job growth, which is good in the long run").

His "finish the sentence" campaign insisted on explaining, to conclusion, in detail, and unambiguously, the final, real, understandable benefit of each of his policies.

Patiently walking voters through conservatism shouldn't be necessary, but it's proving to be so. GOP candidates win when they handhold voters through their programs.

Again, it shouldn't be necessary--and academe dulls senses to this kind of rational explanation--but it's one way of bootlegging a thoroughly compromised public education system.

125 Political Power is like Matter or Energy.

I cannot be created or destroyed. Only moved, and mutated.

The perception that the Constitution is there to keep Power from a tyrant or an oligarchy is only half true: *Someone* must have that power. In the Founders' system, that power devolves to the Citizen. In the modern conception, the citizenry simply abdicates the power they have been given, and said power inevitably devolves back to the oligarchs and tyrants as if it were water finding its level, or a free body falling at 9.81 m/s^2.

The Constitution is merely a means of short-circuiting the process of Rebellion and avoiding armed civil conflict.

It is sadly impotent in securing Liberty from tyrants for a people who are perfectly content to be slaves and peasants.

I know, it was awful for the family. I never believed they were responsible. It just didn't make sense, they adored their daughter. I read a lot of the documents that were released publicly, and there was just no reason to suspect the parents. The patient file from JonBenet's pediatrician showed that Patsy Ramsey took the kid to the doctor every time the girl had so much as a sniffle. Parents who are sexually abusing their kids don't do that. They keep them away from doctors (or anybody else who may be able to spot signs of abuse). Patsy Ramsey's life revolved around her kids, no way would she have stood passively by while her husband or son or somebody else cracked the girl's skull and strangled her with a garrote, and no way she would have covered for somebody who did that.

The cops suspected the Ramseys because the girl died in the house, and because the body was covered with her blanket -- which indicated that the person who killed her had cared about her. But if this pedo freak who lived nearby really was the killer, then he could easily have been the one who covered her body. He was obsessed with her and believed himself to be in love with her. A sicko like that would have covered her body tenderly after he killed her.

164 "Again, it shouldn't be necessary--and academe dulls senses to this kind of rational explanation--but it's one way of bootlegging a thoroughly compromised public education system."

They want people with dull senses. I'm not a particularly bright person, but I always loved to read. My nickname by 1st grade was "Encyclopedia". Later I noticed a decided push in education to de-emphasize facts, names, dates, historical events or what was dismissively derided as "rote learning".

What I found, was that a storehouse of seemingly useless information is damn handy to have, but it's only later on in life when one's thinking skills are more finely honed, does this storehouse of data become invaluable.

They want people who are unable to process what they are doing to them, because they have no historical reference to compare it to. In any sort of discussion or debate, they have no facts to draw upon other than that which are provided. Today's students are sorely deprived and it's akin to a form of child abuse in every sense of the term. They don't stand a chance.

One of my kids went to a great university in California, one of which CBD would not approve of, and a required course in her day for incoming freshman was entitled "Failure". The whole idea was to normalize and even celebrate failing at something, by studying great failures that led somewhere (plastic, for example). Some of the students had a very difficult time with the concept.

Some may also boil down to positions that conservatives hold which I don't necessarily think are right. Biggest I can see is the harping on free trade. I have read the arguments, used to identify as a conservative, and pre-Trump would say okay - these people have studied the issue more so maybe they are right. My current position is that maybe we are not completely conservative. I saw someone once postulate that Trump was a populist and not a conservative, and I've sort of redefined myself that way.

On to the French, Goldberg and Weekly Standard types. I think the mask has come off and they are certainly not populists, and actually never were conservative.

I think their thought process (to the extent there is one) is that:

- yes, there are some very nasty people who come across the border with immigrants.
- There are very nasty people here in America already. There are very nasty people within *any* arbitrary population group
- Therefore, it is unfair to wall out the 90% (or whatever) of immigrants who are just looking for a better life in order to block out the intransigents and ne'er-do-wells.
- Furthermore, it is the height of racism to equate said ne'er-do-wells with immigrants in general (ed: I agree), so it is safest to simply ignore their existence than to employ literally any measure, however trivial, to secure the border. Better dead than wayciss. (ed: I disagree)

222 Seattle media are now referring to vagrants as "campers."

The City of Seattle cleared an encampment along I-5 in Northgate Wednesday after two months of complaints from neighbors about garbage and safety.

The camp had been growing for two months on WSDOT property along Northgate Way near an I-5 ramp. Around 30 people lived there, according to a camper. The City received several complaints from neighbors about garbage, human waste, and the camp's close proximity to busy roadways.

Seattles Navigation Team spearheaded the cleanup with help from WSDOT crews and Seattle Police. They arrived at 9 a.m. Wednesday and cleared the lot by the early afternoon, offering resources to the campers who were forced to leave.

Only in a narrow sense. Sure, I'm with him on the general point, but as he says, it's a problem of infiltration rather than traditional geopolitics. And there, as always, the real danger is in our (mis)education system. 233 206 Has anyone heard anything else about the rumor of RBG's retirement?

All I found was two tweets (one referenced on Insta by Wohl, and the other by Sebastian Gorka). Neither had listed sources.

I can imagine her situation. Recovering from surgery, her doctors telling her that she probably won't recover fully because of her age, and she tries the working at home thing. I remember reading the abstracts of the cases from Monday. They weren't high-profile barnburners, they were matters of small detail in federal law. If she's laying in bed, unable to concentrate well enough on that, I could imagine her weighing everything but ultimately deciding that she simply can't do the job anymore.

It's the scenario I kind of hope is playing out.

The Politico story yesterday about the administration preparing for her replacement backs this up, or the same someones are yanking the chain of both Eric Bolling and Sebastian Ghorka. As someone who recently got into wine drinking, a lot of the problem with cheap wine over here in the states isn't that it's *bad* just that it's all really uniform tasting. You know exactly what you're going to get if you pick up a bottle of Apothic Red or whatever.

Now, if you know someone who is very picky or has very specific tastes, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but if you like to do the "pick it up, smell, give a taste, try to differentiate the flavors" whole thing, it's just going to be exactly the same every time, and that exploration part of the experience is gone.

Commerce clause needs to be restricted, too. The founders took a reasonable stance (that interstate trade could only be reasonably regulated by the federal structure) but they were unable to foresee leftist perfidy and its abuse. Just adding the word "final" would help a lot - that interstate trade of final goods and services (e.g., as sold to the end user) is subject to federal regulation. Intermediate stage semi-finished products or raw materials are not.

Am I the only one who *doesn't* want the President to use emergency powers? This isn't about the wall anymore. The wall is the cause and must be funded, but I see this as about forcing the Democrats - for the first time in my life - to heel. This is about political power and will and forcing the Dems to comply. Emergency powers might get us a wall, but it doesn't contain the left extremists in that party, and I don't want to watch single-payer, welfare-for-all, Eurosocialist industrial controls, etc. roll in under an unfettered left party.

Smash them. No quarter.

339 That "5 Things to Do About Our Culture's Antagonism Against Men" is pretty confused. Not finished with it yet, but the author calls out:
Now, to be fair, this is sometimes appropriate, such as in our emerging understanding about transgender children. It is vital to prevent them being forced to conform to characteristics of a sex they don't identify with.

But then, the next heading (rightly) is entitled:
Reject Social Constructivism, and Support Men as Men

These are in opposition. Transgenderism is a social-construction concept. You can't acknowledge it as this great need for sensitivity (beyond the just sensitivity usually reserved for the mentally ill) *and* simultaneously reject social construction as a concept. Social construction made it possible.

That dog won't hunt, and a built-in contradiction in your premises will just lead to failure.

I have long advocated expanding SCOTUS to one member appointed from each State by what ever means they choose for selecting judges. And them make removal of any judge a majority vote by the State he was appointed from by a majority vote. Or removal by a 60% majority vote by all the States.

Yeah . . . about that. Our society has had flexibility in accepting people whose characteristic don't map closely to the Left's caricature of 1950's men and women. They were called "tomboys," etc. We were smart enough to understand that clothing/interests didn't magically change someone's biological sex.

When I've discussed transgenderism with my son we liken it to anorexia or Michael Jackson's multitude of cosmetic treatments to be white. May have even my son who started that. Acknowledge and pity, don't endorse.

I have long hoped (but am increasingly sure that this hope is forlorn) that they aren't that stupid. The value of the 401(k) is that it is tradeable. Whether it is stocks or bonds, the "value" there is that you can sell it if you need it. If they're nationalized, the state becomes a major shareholder and bondholder in most companies and local/state governments (which is, of course, the point - making people poorer is just a bonus) but also can't transact enough it to make it work without crushing their own portfolios. If they sell enough to be worth it at that scale, everything crashes because there are very few buyers left. Liquidity would get tight quite quickly, a lot like Bitcoin. You might have vast Bitcoin holdings, but it is an illiquid market where cashing out a significant amount will move the price simply because there are so few market participants at any reasonable scale.

But I think it is the ownership stake and not the money, so none of that matters.

Ok, be worried. The debt is so unimaginably high right now (most people can't conceive a million, much less a thousand million X a thousand billion X 22) the ONLY way we can ever possibly start reversing it is to grow our GDP at a sustainable rate for a prolonged period of time. Or, as Occasional Cortez would recommend, seize every private retirement dollar in the US.
Point being, if the Fed would keep interest rates low, we might be able to grow our way out of this.
