Hi, everyone. I'm pleased to report that Justice Ginsburg is back in the office today.
However, she is playing one of her characteristic little tricks -- one of the reasons we love her so much! She is wearing a 3D-printed mask and a wig to look exactly like me! You can't tell us apart! So if it looks as if I'm casting two votes in conference, actually that's both me and Justice Ginsburg. She's such a scamp! Posted by: Justice Kagan at January 10, 2019 11:51 AM (DuAZ5) 11

Very nice. Like all good political speeches, this follows the two basic rules:
1) Active voice. (Not "mistakes were made" but "I made a mistake") 2) Mostly short, declarative sentences. ("This was bad" not "there a number of potentially deleterious consequences to the followed course of action") Dust off your Strunk & White if you want to write effective political speeches. BREAKING: Pompeo POUNCES On Obama Stupidity!
Posted by: Cicero (@cicero) at January 10, 2019 12:09 PM (UGqF8) 111
He doesn't seem to mention that Obama/Hillary establsihed ISIS, intentionally left the Humvees and weapons for them, perhaps saw ISIS as the way to defeat Assad/Syria? But maybe that would be admitting too much.
Does he talk about Hillary/Cameron and their escalation into regime change in Libya, perhaps with intent to flood Europe with jihadists (as Gadaffi had promised would happen)? Hilda laughed "we came, we saw, he died, chortle" ... but wasn't our ambassador left to die due to that gun running to ISIS/Al Qaeda, and when the Libyan armories were left open (after Hillary's hair-brained regime change) ... thousands of shoulder fired missiles were lost in the wind. (supposedly Stevens was involved in that recovery effort?) But Pompeo does seem more clear eyed ... but we have to fight for American causes and sovereign Western state causes, not help the globalists destroy the West (as is ongoing) on their new world order pathway. In Cairo, Mike Pompeo Repudiates, Mocks Obama's 2009 Cairo Speech
That speech was as anti-AMerican and historically stupid as it gets. Barky should have been impeached over that. A President shitting all over America in a foreign land is a serious red line. ... But Barky was set on blaming America for colonialism (LOL) and helping pan-islamism sweep the arab world (as if pan-arabism wasn't bad enough). Isn't Egypt the place where the Notorious RBG told them that the US Constitution was a piece of shit, too? She should have been impeached and tossed off the bench for that little ditty, too. Perfectly clear. I know some people would love to see every member of Bobama's administration frogmarched to prison, or lined up and shot, but that's not going to happen.
When the US of A does what it does, regardless of who is in office, it's all of us on the hook for it. Posted by: BurtTC at January 10, 2019 12:16 PM (a2xio) I've heard this argument before, and it still carries no water with me. If Nixon had been convicted, he absolutely would have been removed and imprisoned. Some of the people working for him absolutely did go to jail. And Obama's crimes are much, much worse than Nixon's. The CIA and FBI are basically partisan institutions, and openly regarded as such. If it's politically impossible to jail the conspirators, it will be completely possible to jail the President himself. How could it not be, when law enforcement has chosen sides? So either act, or be prepared to be on the defensive against an all out attack. Posted by: trev006 at January 10, 2019 12:26 PM (9vRlA) 213

Why is Joe Lieberman on Cavuto's show blathering about income taxes?
Good grief. Posted by: Deplorable Ian Galt at January 10, 2019 12:23 PM (8iiMU) ++++++++++ They're at the "setting the table" stage of the "we must hike taxes" platform plank. They'll do a lot of jawboning about the fifties and sixties nominal tax rates, ignore any discussion of the effective tax rates, ignore the 30% upper limit on collection in virtually any economy, and then set their mouth-breathers against each other on racing to the bottom (or top, in this case) on nominal marginal rates. See the current debate of 60% vs. 90%. Then, once having finished the narrative-creation that higher taxes are a net good, they'll start honing the number down to somewhere in the forties or fifties so they look like reasonable compromisers in time for the campaign season to kick off. _____________ There is no such thing as "radical Islamism" and it is not a "debauched strain" of islam. In fact, the koran teaches muslims that it is their duty to spread islam throughout the world. It also teaches them that non-muslims are their enemies, as well as their inferiors, and that they are justified in attacking and killing them and taking their lands and their wealth. We in the west need to stop pretending islam is something other than what it is -- just because we wish it was something other than what it is. I'm with Garret on this one. I have a friend who grows it here in RI for medicinal purposes. Yes, he grows a lot but it is a full time job with a fairly significant financial investment. And it is very high quality. I could grow my own corn. It probably would taste like shit but I could do it. Or I could go to the farm a mile down the road and buy it there where I can also buy beef, pork, eggs, chicken, etc. We used to grow weed in high school at a buddy's parents house in Maine. This links to part 2 but you can find part one by poking around. For me the easiest way to listen is to download the mp3 files from the ricochet rss feed of the podcast. https://tinyurl.com/ydewdbb3 Trump is discussed at the end of part 2. Part 1 is his history up to the Reagan administration (he was involved with Nixon around the EPA). His view of Trump is more positive than anyone else out there and his view of the current political situation is probably more accurate ... his only failing is somewhat soft on the left (which he more-or-less admits). It's almost 2 hours altogether but i found it worth the time. Posted by: Off the reservation at January 10, 2019 12:32 PM (vWMNq) 257

I ask this because there's a bunch of us Iraq vets that feel that way, some more than others. Vietnam reminded me of being run over by a truck in slow motion; it was equally as pointless. None of the war made the slightest bit of sense until I realized, years later, that the war's architect - McNamara - was simply a psychopathic mass murderer who wanted to see how many people he could kill and get away with it. Once I saw that the entire war snapped into focus and it all made sense. I want you to know that I thank all of you Iraq vets, from the bottom of my heart, for your service to the country. Democrats sold out both of us - what a shock. Your war was not a war created by a psychopath - it was a war run by fools - there is a difference.
