Shoot off at the mouth. Literally, not figuratively. Do you need to build a booby-trap or two? Maybe you can get an idea or two from the Christmas movie, Home Alone. Check out this incredibly dedicated animated flipbook re-creation of all the booby traps in the 1990 holiday scare-'em film HOME ALONE, starring Macaulay Culkin and Joe Pesci. Truth? Fiction? You be the judge. Pizza Hut restaurant foiled by a pissed off family. Reddit user /u/MundaneSeesaw shared a post recently, claiming that a local Pizza Hut had once overloaded their family’s phone line. According to them, the company declined numerous attempts to reason with them, so they did the only thing they could. They took their time executing their carefully crafted revenge plan, making sure the business received what it deserved. Some, however, argued that maybe the punishment was too harsh, to which /u/MundaneSeesaw replied, “[You] clearly never been to some of the smaller towns in the south with populations that are primarily rednecks.” Scroll down to read the entire thing, and if it doesn’t satisfy your thirst for blood, fire up these 91 Revenge Stories That Will Make You Think Twice Before Being An Asshole To Other People. Three-wheelers have always been a popular mode of public transport in India, and Mahindra is the first major auto player to enter the electric three-wheeler segment. Last month, Mahindra Electric, a division of the Indian retail-to-automobile conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra, launched two models of e-rickshaws—the Treo and Treo Yaari. “The sale of personal vehicles is pretty low, particularly four-wheelers,” said Mahesh Babu, CEO of Mahindra Electric. About 2,000 of the company’s electric four-wheelers, which include brands like e2oPlus and eVerito, run as cabs, he said. He added that most of the sales in the last two years have been to commercial fleet operators like Ola, Uber, and car rental company Zoomcar. HOLY SH!T!!! As seen from outer space. Snow shovel control means knowing where your banks are. But not for this Genius Award Winner. In a fit of road rage, a drunken man chased a car while brandishing a sword and snow shovel before spitting at police when they took him into custody Saturday, according to jail records. Early Saturday morning, the man became embroiled in "a road rage incident" on Pioneer Road in Draper, according to jail records. He then followed the other car involved in the incident to the driver’s workplace on Fort Street and confronted the person inside the car, attempting to punch them through the window. A Southwest Airlines pilot pulled a U-turn to make an unplanned medical delivery to Seattle. A human heart, which was supposed to be delivered to Seattle, wasn’t unloaded from the plane, The Seattle Times reports. The heart was loaded onto the plane by a courier service for the plane’s Sacramento-to-Seattle leg. The crew realized the heart was still in the cargo hold Sunday in the middle of the Southwest Airlines flight’s Seattle-to-Dallas leg. The pilot made a U-turn and returned to Seattle, the paper reports. The heart was bound for a tissue processor to harvest a valve. “Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our customers and the safe delivery of the precious cargo we transport every day,” a Southwest spokesman told the Seattle Times. You have kids right? Yes You want the best for them, right? Yes. You would prefer them to not make obvious (to you) mistakes right? Yes. Do they do stupid things? Yes. Would you like to take away their ability to make stupid choices? Well, no. Why? Because then it would not be their life, they'd be slaves. God feels the same way. My original question has a very simple base. Why does God kill my friends and strengthen my enemies? Why am I at the center of this eyelet? What is it that God finds so much fun about me that he can torture me this much? I know these questions have no simple answers. I'm just venting. And I bet Job wishes he had a forum like this when he was, you know, told by the whirlwind to shut the f up. Posted by: BeckoningChasm at December 15, 2018 10:14 PM (l9m7l) 101
Beckoning Chasm- I can't stay around but your question would seem to relate to why there is evil and suffering in the world which have been questions since people thought about God. The Christians writer Philiip Yancy deals with it in his book, "Disappointment With God" Here are some additional thoughts, Don't confuse God With Life"
It's hard when you're struggling and pain not to do that, but I think the thoughts are interesting ones. Whoops; I'm seeing my link is not posting. I will try again Posted by: FenelonSpoke at December 15, 2018 10:14 PM (AllCR) 102

So, is God a malevolent entity, or a benevolent entity?
Curious to know the responses here. Posted by: BeckoningChasm at December 15, 2018 09:47 PM (l9m7l) To the murderers on death row, the law is malevolent. That is because they are evil, and any moral rule of law is malevolent towards them. According to Christian theology God is benevolent, but he will punish the wicked. The wicked will perceive this as "malevolent" relative to their standing of course, but this is because they will not acknowledge their wickedness. Unrepentant sinners are not entitled to mercy, either in this life or in the world to come. In Bondage of the Will, Luther says we should rather wonder why offered mercy rather than complain about why we are condemned for our sins. I'm not a believer, but if there were a God, that would seem a rational explanation of his nature. Posted by: Steve and Cold Bear at December 15, 2018 10:19 PM (/qEW2) 116

On one hand, the parents want solace and the argument can be made, the funeral is NOT the time to talk frankly about how sinful suicide is. OTOH, a priest is supposed to tell the truth about God, sin, and the world at all times. Posted by: qdpsteve at December 15, 2018 10:26 PM (miE9U) 128

Posted by: qdpsteve at December 15, 2018 10:16 PM (miE9U) I'm no Catholic, but I believe it is standard Catholic theology to say that no one can be said (apart from those sainted) to definitely go to heaven. I think the main thing we gotta remember with God is that there are no good people.
So the best way to reconcile the disasters in our life is to understand that we deserve them instead of bitching at God as if we are being unduly persecuted. I've had a couple of experiences that parallel the Pizza Hut story.
In Lafayette Indiana, I had a number that was one digit removed from the number for the Sportsman Bar & Grill. I would get calls at 1:00 a.m. asking, "Is Harry (Bill, Jim, etc.) there?", usually from from a female, who I assumed was Harry's wife. I'd just tell them "Wrong number", and hang up. The second experience was much more annoying. Pro Percussion (percussion instruments) in Smyrna Georgia had a bold marquis with their telephone number prominently displayed as "436-DRUM". Clever, right? Except...it turns out that drummers are not such swell spellers, and if you dialed 436-DROM, then you got my number. This did not happen so often that it was anything but amusing, but often enough that I eventually wearied of it. Finally, when someone would call and ask "Do you have Ludwig such and such, I would say "Sure, come down today, everything is half price." I'm sure it made for some pissed off people, but there was no way they had any idea who was responsible. Posted by: Mike Hammer, etc., etc. at December 15, 2018 10:33 PM (xSo9G) 159

Jeez -- got willowed on the movie thread again, so I'm moving this question over to the ONT:
This week, our movie group watched Christmas in Connecticut (1946) with Barbara Stanwyck, Dennis Morgan, and Sydney Greenstreet. Splendidly funny movie with Stanwyck as a Martha Stewart-type happy homemaker for a major women's magazine, who in real life can't even boil water. Her publisher, Greenstreet, knows her only through her articles, and wants her to entertain a coming-home soldier (Morgan) at her "farm" for Christmas (she actually lives in an urban apartment). Needless to say, hilarity ensues, and we all had a good time. But it brought up an interesting question: Besides Christmas in Connecticut, Barbara Stanwyck appeared in two other Christmas-themed movies, Remember the Night (1940) and Meet John Doe (1941). Has any other star appeared in as many Christmas movies? Someone else remembered that, besides It's a Wonderful Life, Jimmy Stewart had appeared in another Christmas movie, The Shop Around the Corner (1940). But that's only two. We couldn't think of anybody else who starred in as many Christmas movies as Barbara Stanwyck, so she must hold the record for the present. Can any of my fellow Morons think of any other actor who can tie or surpass her? Posted by: DynamiteDan at December 15, 2018 10:35 PM (MqzWH) 165

The Catholic Church used to deny Catholic burial to suicides because it was assumed that they died in a state of mortal sin. However, it's possible that the suicidal person didn't die in the state of sin. For instance, between the time he took the pills and died, he could have repented.

Actually, Vertov, I don't think all the personnel in Wacht am Rhein/Herbstnebel (Battle of the Bulge) were old men or kids. Some units, yes, and the repurposed Luftwaffe troops weren't too capable apparently. But there were enough veterans in several units that they obviously did quite well against some of the very green US units. Ultimate outcome wouldn't have changed, but if Peiper had stumbled on the fuel dump he passed near, or the engineers hadn't blown those bridges in the nick of time, or Patton hadn't made his famous dash, the whole thing would have been much worse for the Allies.
Tomorrow is the 74th anniversary of the start of the Battle of the Bulge, as Vertov noted. Posted by: rhomboid at December 15, 2018 11:02 PM (QDnY+) 238

True repentence is true repentence, and the window never closes. Of course, repentence under duress is not true repentence, so don't put it off that long unless you expect a long period of trial to demonstrate repentence. The Catholic burial policy always bothered me. God is all forgiving, so he will find a way. God is all powerful, so if he chooses to keep them out, somebody who dies with mortal sin and does not repent will not make it into a consecrated graveyard - there is no need for people to forbid it. People always seem to think that God is just like them, only more petty and less powerful. Posted by: half a mind at December 15, 2018 11:05 PM (np68J) 247

"Always an interesting question about Evil. Is Lucifer telling us to do wrong? Or does that come from inside of us? "
Traditional formulation for that question is, "There are 3 sources for temptation into sinful acts: the world, the flesh, and the Devil." Since the Fall, mankind is afflicted with a natural tendency to sin -- "concupiscence" -- and we can be tempted by our own fallen natures. or by the lure of worldly objects, or by Old Scratch himself (or his helpers, i.e. Wormwood.) Per C.S. Lewis, most of us are already so ready to succumb to sources A and B that the devil really doesn't have to get involved too often! My original question has a very simple base. Why does God kill my friends and strengthen my enemies?
Your friends die because all humans die. Your enemies strengthen because the SOBs of the world - like Hillary - are great at manipulating crowds and events. To ask God to do otherwise is to ask the natural order of the world be reversed for your sake. Many times I also wished it could be so, but being a Monkey's Paw kind of person, I take it that "it could be worse." If we went back in time to kill Hitler, then with no German army to oppose him, Stalin kills many more ... The Iranian socialist were so happy to be rid of the Shah and Komenini raped them before sending them to the firing squad. The price we pay for the privilege of free will is that others have it to. And are free to choose evil. I wish I were smarter as I sound like a Rush lyric. The scope of the human mind is limited to our own little range of the tapestry of life. We rail at the unfairness of the knots, unable to step back and see how important they are to make the tapestry beautiful. If this sounds a little too Pollyanna-ish, Justice for wrongs is also part of the tapestry. The many medical innovations of the 20th century are part of the tapestry. No Country for Old Men is part of the tapestry. Vet Ranch youtube channel is part of the tapestry. 4 blind men and an elephant ... Posted by: Legally Sufficient Oh geez. (It ain't Year Zero, folks) The Church never thought God "couldn't deal with" cremains; rather, because the doctrine of the Resurrection of the Dead was vigorously mocked, denied and disputed by the pagan world all around her, she forbad cremations to Christians (as cremations were sometimes requested as a specific, final denial of the body's eventual Resurrection). After two millenia, when it was clear that cremation was no longer seen as that kind of a deliberate polemic against doctrine, the Church lifted the ban. --------- I'd estimate there were 35 to 40 boats in the parade itself this year, but a lot of other boats are decorated too. There's a lot of activity in the marina. There must be 50 people on a 45-ft boat right across from me, partying and watching the parade. It's a great time. I try to make it every year if I can. Rotor surfaces and brake pads were good. I used an abrasive wheel to clean some black oxide off the rear rotor, and when I was done, it was smooth and true, and nearly unworn. I think when dirt and road salt find their way into the drums, they cannot get out again. On the rotor faces, they get thrown off, or wiped off. Posted by: Miley, the Duchess at December 16, 2018 01:12 AM (NMAzL) One you get a zester, you realize how you've wasted the zest one's whole life. Now when I buy a lemon, e.g., I zest first to use in a sauce/dish, then I have the lemon for slices to go with tea or fish or steak. I was skeptical at first about the cleanup as I hate cleaning zest from box graters because it's such a pain. But, boy, is that zester a snap to clean. They really don't take up much space in a kitchen, ether, especially a small kitchen like mine where counter/drawer space is at a premium. I only have a few dedicated/one use gadgets, the zester being one, a garlic press and an olive pitter being the others (that I can think of off the top of my head). Definitely worth the $15-20 for a Microplane zester. They pretty much last forever, too, as long as one keeps the plastic sleeve to store the thing in. Are you using the 'Amazon Pay" feature to order from sites other than Amazon? We did that once, and didn't realize that they send a temporary password to your registered e-mail account that has to be used that one time. Drove me nuts till I asked Mrs VIA if she had gotten an e-mail about passwords. Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at December 16, 2018 07:00 AM (cqNba) 651

Santa Cat and Jewish Cat.
The Jews rejected Christ so, God inspired the Romans to destroy the Temple leaving the Jews no way of expiating their sins. It's no surprise that the Jews are steeped in wickedness and are purveyors of moral corruption everywhere they go. Paul was inspired by God to write to the Corinthian Gentiles "Be not yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14.) America's purported Judeo-Christian heritage is phony ecumenism foisted on us by the usual suspects after WWII. Our country had a Christian heritage but no longer. So, Santa Cat doesn't have a Jewish sidekick. Posted by: John Henry Eden at December 17, 2018 07:26 AM (DtQfl) 738
