2 Good Morning Morons; Today is Sunday, December 09, 2018. On this day in 1946 the "Nuremberg trials" began with the "Doctors' trial", prosecuting physicians and officers alleged to be involved in Nazi human experimentation and mass murder under the guise of euthanasia.

On a working PC, go to the Microsoft software download website.
Download the Windows 10 media creation tool and then run it.
Select Create installation media for another PC.
Choose a language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit).
Follow the steps to create installation media, and then select Finish.
Connect the installation media you created to your nonfunctional PC, and then turn it on.

44 Looks like the Paris protests are going to be a weekly thing, every Saturday until Christmas, from what I'm reading. After sundown yesterday I noticed that those dressed all in black began trying to break into shops that hadn't been boarded up. A sporting goods store was one location that seemed to be a repeated target. They didn't seem to have much luck breaking the windows. The yellow vests weren't involved.

If Macron had any sense he'd call for new elections or step down. But the leftists/socialists are never ones to surrender power, only grab for even more.

50 Yay for Sunday. It has three of my favorite threads: books, food, and guns. I take time to reflect on the many blessings in my life which starts the week off on a positive note. It's sort of a prayer. And with cold weather for the next few days I'll pick out some 'winter' recipes, the kind that cook in a low oven for ten or more hours. They usually include from scratch baked beans (no tomato), several kinds of stews and soups, start the homemade sauerkraut, and makng a batch of jerky. That type of thing. It helps keep the house warm and the aromas are wonderful.

I went home and thought about it for a week and then called back and said I want to see a different doctor. As soon as the new doctor saw me, he drove me to the hospital and within a few hours I was on the operating table. That's not even a mistake someone who's weapons-grade, force-of-nature stupid could plausibly make. Even if you take it to mean "men only" whenever it says "he", that paragraph of Article II doesn't even say "he", just "person".

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

*LXLE was like the third supposedly 32b distro I tried and was just abut ready to toss the whole project until I found it. Try LXLE, you get a windows like interface, but with almost all of the bells and whistles of LINUX.

Ubuntu is another very good 64b distro. Pretty much works out of the box. I have another laptop that has been up and running for months, software been upgraded numerous times and hasn't been rebooted for months.

I found that if you want to keep the old Windows OS (for whatever reason) and have a tower, it is cheap and efficient to just buy another disk drive, add it to your computer, and then run a LINUX install disc and tell it to install to the new disc. This leaves the original info untouched, gives you the option of booting into WIndows, and makes the disc accessible ot the LINUX OS. YMMV!

175 The problem I have with laptops is the shitty little keyboard and small monitors.

Huh. I run a Dell Precision 5530, the QWERTY keys are spaced and sized about the same as a desktop keyboard. Missing decent navigation and 10-key but I have all of the pluses of a laptop.

I plug in one cable that has both power and data to a hub that drives both a 40" 4k monitor, and a 24" monitor (in portrait orientation) for a lot of real-estate.

Other sites I visit have monitors, hard wire network, pointing devices and keyboards available connected to a docking station.

Just plug-in and do whatever. When remote still have full functionality even when the power goes out for a few hours.

Yes the left has a vast army of researchers and shit kickers that dig and dig and dig to either dig up shit on enemies or to generally rip at scabs.

The left has internalized the Booker T Washington quote of keeping the "grievances" of it's disparate voting blocs before the public not to solve any particular problem but because it pays.

Posted by: Kreplach at December 09, 2018 08:16 AM (qxq6t)

195 What is amusing to me is Sarah Silverman has gay slurs on her twitter and no one says a thing about it.

There are two Americas. The two don't even have the same vocabulary nor concept of communication.

Your problem is that you think individual words have specific definitions and when organized in a particular way convey thoughts, ideas, facts and emotion. You then take these statements, run them through various filters you have constructed over your life span, merge it with other accepted facts and knowledge and then test the results to see if the statements are reasonable. If so, you add this to your inventory of thoughts and ideas, and you may elect to respond.

The Left has jettisoned this provincial way of using words. Most ideas are not worth having, thought leaders now curate and maintain the collective wisdom and communication is now performed by a manipulator who creates sounds (which we often confuse with familiar "words") that when received by a fellow traveler use those sounds to select and trigger an emotion - mostly rage.

So when you hear or read phrases like "my mind was colonized by the patriarchy". You are not hearing something composed in your language or vocabulary, you are overhearing manipulative emotional trigger words.

Its sort of like when you and your dog approach a stranger and the dog senses a micro-expression or a slight change in grip on the leash and from those signals decides to protect or play with the stranger.

Not ALL transgressors. At least, not until it becomes advantageous.

Bill Clinton got away with it for years, and still does, to a large degree (and the only one who brought any spotlight to him was, of all people, Trump).

Keith Ellison, Farrakhan, the Left doesn't go after their friends until it suits their purposes.

199 Vic, don't know if you've tried this yet, but (supposedly) if you interrupt the startup of windows 10 three times (hold the power button during initial load for example), the fourth time it tries to start it will be in 'safe mode'.

From safe mode you should be able to kick an automatic repair that might roll back the bad update, or else you could do a reset-to-factory settings, which 'should' revert the OS without erasing your data file.

(sorry for all the could and should's, and sorry if this has already been suggested)

235 So Andrew McCarthy thinks the President will soon be indicted in the SDNY.

The argument will be that two payments to women (to stop them from talking with reporters about sexual encounters) should be seen as campaign contributions. They weren't reported as donations. This stuff happens and aren't usually prosecuted. In the past, arguable complaints like this are fined by the FEC. In this case the FEC never complained to the Trump campaign, but the SDNY is prosecuting on its own.

Since this isn't Russia-related it won't be Mueller's sad crew filing the charges, it's the SDNY and Sessions appointee US Attorney Geoffrey Berman.

I hope so. Been using one for years.

I do not have an iPhone though. When I went from a flip phone to a smart phone I went with a Moto G. Through Consumer Cellular it was 100 bucks. I looked at the iPhones etc. and thought 800 bucks for what?

254 "VIA, I take it you are pleased with the cameras? IIRC, they are remotely viewable. "

First, let's put this within the context of them being $20.00 cameras.

There is not a web version of their viewer, so everything is done from reviewing to control through your seat phone.AlthoughI understand that there is a third party Windows based program (Tiny Camera, maybe) that allows your computer to mimic a smart-phone and do everything.
So yes, they are remotely viewable.

I'm not doing any kind of VPN, but for the level of sophistication around here, I think I will be ok.

Having used the Arlo Pro-2, the NestCam and the WYZE, Pretty much have gone with the arlo fr exterior, and WYZE for covering various internal areas with vulnerabilities.

As both the Arlo and the WYZE are IFTT computable, I am working on some of the options which that may open up once I learn the technology.

At only 15 fps, the video leaves a little to be desired, but the motion detection is as good as any that I have seen. Out of the box, they only capture a 15 second clip when triggered, but with the Micro SD card, they will record everything. And even if a crook destroys one of them, chances are that they would miss one or more of the others.

The ability to push an alert to me if any of the smoke/CO detectors goes off is another plus that I like.

So.......for $20.00, I think I could do a lot worse.

O, almost forgot.
The NestCam was free, but unless I wanted to pay an additional $10.00 per month subscription, the features scaled down to pretty much crap.

335 I really wish there were alternatives to Goolag and Apple smartphones. Are there good Windows phones?
Posted by: Vanya at December 09, 2018 09:05 AM (7PLM4)

Microsoft's phone platform was surprisingly good considering these are the same people who grunted out WindowsCE, but:
1. it had a terribly small hardware base, compared to iOS and Android
2. it had barely any third party apps
3. it wasn't fully discontinued until 2017 but might as well have been in 2012 for how many actual phones you could buy for it

336 OK, got some chores that need doing. As always, a pleasure to jump into the flow of conversation here.

We are like a fancy-scmanzy French salon here, except without tear gas wafting around and, presumably, less armpit hair on the 'ettes.

May you all have a blessed and serene day.

337 I had one of the original Macs with the 9" B&W CRT. Space Shuttle simulator was the main reason I got it. Not available on the PC at the time.

Saw that at Wiki after posting my comment. Some guy named Robert Khuzami is now in charge and, Jackstraw will love this one, he used to be General Counsel at Deutsche Bank in New York.

348 Trump! is in a mood this AM

Yesterday, he twatted calling Blumenthal "the Dick." And before that, he really raked Tillerson over the coals. Truth be told, I didn't like either tweet.

349 No. And I use a 5 year old Nokia Windows phone. I really want a Linux phone. My only requirements are browser, email program, and a decent map app.

352 And you could stick a diskette in the front and it would disappear into the little box and then spit it out to you when requested. Compared to all other microcomputers at the time it was very cool. It needed a color screen though so I quickly got bored and sold it.

re: the heisman winner and the disgusting Fake News

Stephen Miller doesn't really see what the Fake News Leftist Media is really doing here: Coercion & Extortion.

The Media is simply trying to see if they can control the newest Heisman winner and make him bend to their Will & Whimsy.

356 Back in the late eighty's everyone where I worked got a new Mac, the one with the 7 inch screen. We were all running Potato head and other programs, plus some work. The boss had a large monitor, us peons had the little screen. But we were cutting edge, I tell you!!
