"So, here's a question for all of you: What entity would you most like to see cease all operations, both print and online, and immediately disappear off the face of the earth? Would you rather it be The New York Times, Vox, Slate, The Huffington Post, Teen Vogue, National Review Online, or The Weekly Standard? No, you can't pick more than one."

Joey - spun off from Friends
The Tortelli's - spun off from Cheers (although Frasier was a big hit!)

could be worse. they could take a character that is only alluded to in the series and give them a show.

102 Do we have to choose from Gorilla's list? Because for me the choice would be:

HBO

It does both culture and news. And its becoming more SJW more of the time, in both. Bill Maher, Jamie Oliver, Vox. Gives airtime to SJW documentaries and movies that don't deserve it. Politics is downstream from culture, so entertainment media matter at least as much as news media.

For example. Just now while writing this, I went to hbo.com. Guess what is featured at the top of the web page? This:

PREMIERES DECEMBER 7 AT 8 PM

Icebox

An HBO Film follows the story of a 12-year-old Honduran boy, who is forced to flee his home and seek asylum in the United States, only to find himself trapped in the U.S. immigration system.

For historical accuracy:

(i) Dench got basically nekkid in Midsummer Night's Dream. Might have been some pasties on the nippy parts.

(B) Mirren got nekkid a lot. Most spectacularly in Age of Consent where she swims nekkid underwater in a long and well-lit scene.

Sure. But, "most of the press" enjoys the trust of fewer than a third of Americans. Fewer than a third of that third will be alive in fifteen years - we're talking about mostly really old people who trust these institutions by reflex.

If we're talking about impact, rather than the pure schadenfreude of seeing the hated old-guard companies close, we need to ask about the digital media companies.

No one reads these rags. No one even trusts TV news anymore, even if they turn them on 7:00 to 7:15 for the traffic and weather.

All through a UNITAS cruise, the women of the evening would follow us from port to port.

Agriculture?

Without fossil fuels, we need to go back to using cows/horses to plow fields. I read somewhere that a tractor instantly increases your crop yield by something crazy like 40% because that's land that doesn't have to get devoted to feeding your workhorse. And that's not even taking into account the fact that it's not physically possible to maintain as large a farm without more people, so a lot of people will have to go back to working the fields.

I can see that.

They are both basically upper-middle-class white leftists who have accidental traits freeing them from the taint of white guilt ---in Obama's case a black sperm donor and in O'Rourke's a Spanish nickname.
They are also both thought to be cosmopolitan, having lived in Indonesia and El Paso.

(Don't laugh TOO hard. I'll concede that O'Rourke's exotic credentials are far weaker than O'Bama's, but we live in an age when desperate palefaces at Harvard Law swooned over Elizabeth Warren.)

White leftists don't want a Sharpton or a Cesar Chavez.
They want a mirror, a magic mirror that reflects themselves but purified from original sin.

This.

Anyone who has to tout himself or his proposals as "smart," isn't. Nor are his proposals. Dunning-Kruger nailed it.

But as you point out, Dems try to sell their idiotic policies to the intellectually disenfranchised insecure by telling them that supporting Dem nonsense "proves" they're "smart." It's kind of like the poker scene in "Stripes" where Dewey Oxburger praises his slow-witted opponent:

The "This" channel here ran them all this autumn, and have segued into the B & W and then the color Diana Rigg episodes. Honor Blackman was hot in a dominatrix way. I was never sure whether she even liked Steed, let alone had slept with him. The eps were also shot on videotape and almost always in a studio, so they are sort of film-noirish and claustrophobic. But they featured much more "realistic" plotting and situations than came along with the Rigg stories.
