The Morning Report - 12/03/18

trosnip.jpg

Good morning kids. The start of a new week and the first full day of Hannukkah. May the spirit of the Maccabees and faith in the Lord keep you strong. And then have a latke and play some dreidel. Lots to cover so here we go...

First up, despite a renewed threat to storm the border over the weekend, for the most part (unless I missed something in the aggregation phase in the wee small hours), the invaders have been thwarted at the Tijuana/San Ysidro hotspot. Except for radical nut-burger Dem (BIRM) Pramiya Jayapal (who, if she married PayPal...) who supposedly smuggled in 5 invaders in the hopes of giving them asylum and gaining 5 sure votes for her party (more considering the force-multiplier of each one voting a few dozen times each), the only other thing that stinks is the mountain of human waste and trash left behind by the would-be invaders on the Tijuana side. No wonder that the Tijuaners shut down the shelters for these people. Elsewhere, 6 of Nancy Palsi's kids with the spark of humanity - aka MS-13 animals - stand accused of butchering a Massachusetts teen (just as they were turning their lives around too), and finally, the geschrei over the cost of the President's border wall is of course unwarranted since it turns out to be a tenth of a percent of Federal spending, graft, overruns and kickbacks notwithstanding.

Spygate and the Mueller Persecutions bubble up to the top with news that James "Jimmy Drama" Comey has caved to House GOP demands to testify. Meh, with only 5 or 6 weeks left until the Dems take control of the House, what's the point. And even if they would've remained in control what were the odds that this walking fistula on the body politic would ever face real jail time? In any case the Trump legal team persists in making the argument that he is prosecutable given the veracity-challenged testimony of Michael Cohen. This is all a crock of shit and a massive political smear campaign (and more dangerous than that given the corrosive effects on the national body politic) meant to give the illusion that the President and his associates are somehow guilty of stealing the 2016 election with the aid of the Russians and that the past two years and the next two are illegitimate. Lastly, a good roundup on the nuts and bolts of Operation Crossfire Hurricane.

Speaking of politics, Brenda Snipes, the geriatric Lt. Uhura who looks like a treasure troll with a bad hair day, is now burping up that she is "un-resigning" as Broward County Election Thief-in-Chief. Also, a look at this ballot harvesting scheme and how it may have stolen what was left of Republican-controlled California House seats for the Dems, fish-faced enema of the people Eric Holder is already scheming to use redistricting to boost his chances for 2020, Ryan Zinke tells tarantula-faced Raul Grijalva to sober the hell up, a look at Beto-Mania, the independent male voter as the key to 2020, and wonder of wonders miracle of miracles, a Republican has finally come out on top of a contested race; the Alaskan legislative seat that was decided by one ballot. It was discarded as specious and so the seat goes Republican. Savor a victory over Dem tyranny when you can, people.

To First Amendment and Fake News Fakery where the NY Times continues to slime the late George H.W. Bush by publishing a debunked myth about him in his obit, a good City Journal piece on the Gray and Necrotic Lady's politicization of sports reporting, and it's time to nuke Google from orbit.

At the foreign desk, the President and Chi-Com mandarin Xi have reached a truce in the trade war which some hawks are not happy about, Paris is burning - literally - over Macron's insane "climate change" gas tax. And take a look in the Domestic section at GOP/Dem bipartisanship (yay!) with their economy-killing carbon tax bill. Next, Brexit was a fiasco but is it doomed entirely, Chad's Israel hang-up is no more (for now), and the populist Vox party in Spain seems to gain some momentum.

In the I-Keeeeeel-You category, Los Angeles has suspended the criminal case agains the Muslim who tried to kill Jews, and when you renounce Islam you magically turn white. Amazing how that happens.

Domestically, along with the aforementioned planned anal-rape by Congress with this carbon tax scam, you'll be relived to know that the National Science Foundation has spent over $62 million of your tax dollars (which are their's first, prole, and don't you ever forget it) on "intersectionality" in STEM, and it underscores Michael Ledeen's essay on why to move the bureaucracy the hell out of DC and into the hinterest of hinterlands. Also, Neil "de Grab-ass" Tyson is accused by two women of sexual abuse, Anthony Kennedy (as we all knew) put feelings over the Constitution, and Dick's Sporting Goods tells its investors gee, maybe we shouldn't've ought to have taken a stupid political stand and renounced gun sales.

Continuing in the economic vein, the President is touting the benefits of the NAFTA replacement USMCA as a boon for our auto industry, the President was right to blast GM for its factory closures here, IBD on a China trade deal, and a warning about half-baked Democrat-Socialism.

In church sex scandal news, the Pope sez there's no room for homos in the church (here comes the gay mafia), and the zealotry of the investigations leads down a slippery slope.

A number of things in the healthcare category beginning with yet another clueless blathering about the free market from bucktoothed, bug-eyed brain dead Bolshevik Loopy Ocasio-Fiasco while at the same time, it's unions that will be shielded from the beneficence of socialist single-payer, genetic engineering nightmare, and EWTN wins a huge battle against the contraception mandate. Hopefully another arrow in the quiver to one day destroy Obamacare in toto.

To Education/Indoctrination we go where pro-Israel students stare down the terrorists at UCLA, Walter Williams on what's next for black education, Goucher College race hoaxer busted, Rutgers brainwashers are outraged that an illegal alien is arrested for DUI, Christian universities join on to Indiana's hate crime legislation push, and leftist publishers publish leftist textbooks, or a day ending in "Y."

Several good Red-Green stories including how big government hijacked that climate assessment (the assessment itself is big government, but you knew that), sane property rights might finally triumph over insane protection of an almost extinct frog (not Macron), the enviro-nuts are angry that meat is being consumed at the climate talks and Brazil's Trump sez nuts to hosting the next conference in his country.

From the Feminazi Files, "Baby It's Cold Outside" is hate speech, the mother forcing her 6-year-old to be a tranny might be sick in the head sez her genius pediatrician, and Daniel Greenfield on the paradox of progressive predators as the champions of feminism.

And from hither and yon, the legacy of Bush 41, the Left's insane hatred of him, the menorah and the swastika, Brett Favre is duped into recording a pro Joo-Hate group shout-out, Victor Davis Hanson with another deep piece, "mean" is the new "racist," and how punk took down the Berlin Wall.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

7 So Mexican authorities have moved the migrant camp further away form the border to a new location. Citing mud, lice, diseases, and other unsanitary conditions for the move. This is what the Democrats want to let into the country. Make sure any that get in are camped out in tent cities next to rich Democrats.

15 Reposting this from the end of the ONT:

527 Dearest Horde - I have an urgent prayer request from/for grammie winger.

Her husband took her to the ER yesterday because her right side went numb. Her face is paralyzed and she cannot see well. She is very shaky and can't see out of one eye. They are checking for stroke, TIA and Bell's Palsy, and also a lupus flare which may be the underlying cause.

She asked me to let you all know and to please pray for her that goodness and mercy may follow her all the days of her life.

Please pray for her complete healing and for peace and comfort for her, and also for the Rev and her family. This dear lady who is so much a part of our "family" here has prayed for all of us and now needs us to do the same for her.

Please pray in any way you see fit. I invite my fellow Catholics (and anyone else, for that matter!) to join me in praying Mother Teresa's emergency novena, which is to recite the Memorare Prayer nine times in a row:

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

I will send this prayer request to Fenelon and also post it whenever I can today. I will let you know as soon as I hear anything else from her.

Thank you!

16 MA MS-13 is only more of what the Democrats want to let into this country. Murdering savages from shit-holes in Central America. They will say these are not representative of most of the migrants. But yes they are. This sort of thing has become common, particularly in blue Hells like MA where immigration laws are not enforced.

Of course he is.

Just like Sessions issued "warnings."

Call me when someone other than Michael Cohen goes to jail.

Maybe someone should tell Teh Donald that the more he "threatens," "warns" and "prepares" and yet leaves everyone intact and free as air, the more his supporters figure there's no point in supporting a loudmouth.

Bush the First ... I recall way back to Reagan when I wasn't very political, but Bush getting wedged in as VP seemed like a bad omen. The CIA has presumably had some success in keeping America safe in covert ways we can't analyze, ways which might strike a low infor public as "un-Christian".

But at what point did they become "DeepState", deciding we'd be better off if they ran things from within and turned the DC political scene into kabuki theater, not even informing politicians of their actual operations?

Before 2000 and with ops like Stellar Wind, the surveillance of all Americans was well under way, and then the whole world, and Five Eyes and globalists took full control. And what levels of global oligarch coordination went on behind the scenes with CFR or Bilderberg meetings, or IMF and other unnamed agencies?

Now an open rebellion against a duly elected president ... as Bushies and Clintonites march arm in arm. Strange Days ...

Called "ballot harvesting," critics say the practice is ripe for fraud.

yeah, sounds right. Not sure in he still has Sexton and Loesch ... I supported the concept at $5/month on Dish till Beck went off the deep end. I signed up to CRTV also ... same idea, in support of the concept. Then Levin got his Fox spot and doesn't put out the shows on CRTV as often as promised ... though I seldom even have time to check in.

But long ago I suggested something like Blaze combining with other talent, even if there was wide disparity in "ideology". I think Prof. Jacobson at the time was doing some spots on his own or with Newsmax (?) ... and it seemed all those could make their own "network" ... maybe even acquire some over the air space now that it is digital. (I mean do I really need 5 PBS over the air channels?)

Fox tried that model sorta ... be fair and balanced ... but they are "oligarch" influenced and corporate minded. A real offering to Patriotic America could have serious appeal to a wide spectrum ... gun shows, gardening, pets .... and Ace comedy hour to rival Jon Stewart's old crap ... and then add in "our own" versions of PayPal and FB and Twit ... idk ... seems like an under-served market.

I suppose there may be OPSEC reasons he would say that.

157 If the bible actually prohibited the clergy from marrying I don't think the numerous protestant faiths would allow their clergy to marry.

I assume that you saw the 1 Corinthians 7:32 and 1 Timothy 5:5 passage.

Paul is giving advice saying that to fully devote oneself to God, minimize the distractions such as marriage.

OTOH, He later writes to Timothy that elders need to be the husband of one wife and have orderly children.

So I'm going to suggest that Holy Tradition is stepping up and codifying an opinion into a job requirement.

Catholic Priests used to marry until the 1100's or so. At that point the Church was about 1,000 years old.

They always had weird rules about Priests and sex with their wives and their children being unable to inherit property.

What, indeed. They're heat seeking missiles looking for things and people to hate, and things upon which to feel an infraction (Baby, It's Cold Outside). What a miserable existence.

Bill Cosby screwed up 'Baby, It's Cold Outside'. Before he became so infamous for date raping, the line "Say - what's in this drink?" people thought perhaps drink type (whiskey, gin, rum, etc...).

But like so many things, once you see it, it can't be unseen.

Except: Now, with crowdsourcing!
They've essentially deputized any person and organization to gather ballot on the state election officials' behalf.

It is lawlessness, and if it isn't stopped it will be implemented in every other blue and purple state. Many states, such as (IIRC) Washington, Oregon and Colorado, have implemented 100% mail-in voting in recent years, so they're almost there --- just have the state legislators vote in ballot harvesting.

This is a VERY BIG Deal.

To me that makes a lot of practical sense ... parents that have shown their own abilities and have experience in small groups (family) then advance to the higher group authority. imo it compares to our government ... career politicians that have not been involved in "the American Dream" (Obama, never held a real job, Bernie, Hillary .. mostly the same) ... versus the guy with a career that goes into politics after success ... (Trump, various doctors, Nunes the "farmer", etc.)

overall ... "institutionalized" Big religion or Big government have parallel problems. Keep control as local as possible, starting with the family unit.

235 There are protestant denominations with female priests(which is pretty explicitly prohibited), so I'd hesitate to ascribe any special Bible reading powers to them, especially as they continue to fracture into more disagreeing groups.

It seems for whatever reason Protestants decided to keep only the selection of books preferred by Palestinian Jews whereas early Christians and consequently the Catholic Church uses the Septaugint. These are alleged to be the source of the theological disagreement on purgatory and praying for the 'dead'(Learned something new looking this up, had no idea that protestants found this practice objectionable).

Remember, these people have no base-line. History, for all of them starts the day they were born plus Post-Modernism is about The Now. Knowledge and wisdom has been replaced with unharnessed emotions.

Thus, when they read exposed to lyrics, quotes and passages made a few years ago, those statements will never be understood in the context of the time those statements were made, but will be read using the vocabulary and context of The Now through the hysteria of the day's current crisis.

That is madness.

241 One thing to check on the older iPhones - see if the OS is doing the slowdown thing because the battery isn't delivering a full charge, or something:

settings -> battery ->battery health.

If it's not showing at peak performance capability, that is likely why the phone is slow. You can override the setting.

Also I believe that Apple is offering $29 replacement batteries through the end of the year.

254 Following on from an earlier comment. A major concern about the Republic is not only this generation not having any base-line in truth or wisdom (thus no anchor point to use as a reference), they don't even have the vocabulary to even consider certain thoughts.

For example, when querying the people of this generation, nearly all of them can't tell the difference between privilege and capital-R Rights. In every instance a Right is indistinguishable from a privilege with the possible exception that Rights have a bit more resiliency and weight.

The idea that a Right originates from a transcendant, immutable source outside of themselves is outside their realm of contemplation. They neither have the vocabulary to state the thought, but a complete inability to even meditate on it.

Thus, any discussion of Rights in the Constitutional sense is no different than discussing calculus with your cat. The cat doesn't have the vocabulary to string together a coherent thought on the matter.

Cramer also has consistently and strongly attacked the Fed over the recent round of interest rate increases, again in support of Trump.

298 The shelter industry was poised to explode. Tens of thousands of migrant children began crossing the border without family members, more than ever before. Southwest Key, with its 15 shelters, became one-stop shopping for new beds. The government needed Southwest Key and Mr. Sanchez's can-do attitude; he and his team worked closely with Obama officials to set up shelters.

"There were just kids all over the place," Mr. Sanchez recalled. "The federal government got embarrassed."

Southwest Key opened eight shelters in 2013 and 2014. These were no longer small group homes, the kind envisioned by advocates. They were large institutions, with room for 236, 300, even 420 children.

"It clearly had gone through enormous growth, and I think some of the growth was without a lot of scrutiny," said Mr. Carey, appointed head of the Office of Refugee Resettlement in April 2015.

Conservative critics said Southwest Key wasted taxpayer dollars and coddled illegal immigrants. In 2014, Senator Charles E. Grassley, Republican of Iowa, criticized the charity for requesting $316 per child per day from the federal government for a California shelter that had an organic garden and a petting farm with miniature ponies.

As the shelters multiplied, so did executive pay. Mr. Sanchez earned $279,000 in 2012, and $682,000 in 2015. His wife earned $123,000 in 2012, and $275,000 in 2015.

Simple grid doesn't map well to a real state outline. Best methodology I've heard is that each district has to be composed of smaller but entire political entities , thus a district could include multiple counties (or parishes in LA), villages, towns, or cities, but no finer subdivision. Districts must all contain the roughly same number of citizens (per census) within 5% or so.

313 Just from a cursory listing of her problem, it does sound like Bell's Palsy to me. A friend of mine suffered from that years ago, and my younger sister had an attack about 7 years ago. It is not "crippling", but the partial paralysis can remain for the rest of your life.

My sister had botox injections to stop the droop on the side of her face affected by the Bell's Palsy.

Posted by: Bozo Conservative....lost in America at December 03, 2018 09:13 AM

My wife knew a woman who had undiagnosed and untreated Lyme disease. The palsy messed her face up for good. By the time they treated for the Lyme it was too late.

Which is why I'm mentioning it in this thread -- and hopefully bluebell will pass along -- that it should be one of the first things tested for.

If it was me I'd buy some damn antibiotics online and treat myself, just to be sure.

Are you suggesting that Chinese exports may not be of the highest quality, a result of their enlightened governance?"

Posted by: Anon a mouse at December 03, 2018 09:13 AM (6qErC)

The funny thing is, a large number of Chinese companies are perfectly capable of manufacturing high-quality goods (assuming someone else designs them). But they cut corners ruthlessly in order to maximize short-term profit. You have to constantly supervise them to ensure they aren't cheating. Constantly. Quality is WAY down on the list of important factors.

Fuck quality, pay me.

Bell's Palsy can occur in Lyme patients (I've seen it twice in friends). But Babesiosis is a sometimes hard to spot coinfection in Lyme and it contributed to the death of a woman I know. These diseases can usually be resolved with a month long course of anti-biotics.

In the cold light of day, this is accurate. The problem is and was in Gulf War 2 that we did not go all out to impose our will BY FORCE on the populace and crush the insurgency.

I think we should've imposed an independent Kurdistan after Gulf War 1 but that would've pissed off the Turks who were an ally pre-Erdogan.

It's all what-if mental mind games now.

332 Simple grid doesn't map well to a real state outline. Best methodology I've heard is that each district has to be composed of smaller but entire political entities , thus a district could include multiple counties (or parishes in LA), villages, towns, or cities, but no finer subdivision. Districts must all contain the roughly same number of citizens (per census) within 5% or so.
Posted by: Comrade Hrothgar at December 03, 2018 09:18 AM (f3oO4)

Limit the number of sides a district may have to something like 6, limit the ratio of length to width (perhaps no more than 3-1), and require compactness (no islands or salients). The only things usable as borders are: Roads, rivers, county and state borders. This would result in fairly natural-looking districts.

333 >> Doubling or tripling the size of the House of Representatives would not be a terrible idea.

Sounds like the opposite of draining the swamp?
While it would dilute the power if indicidual Congressmen, it would also give you double or triple the number of Congressmen looking to great new pork projects to please donors - donors they'd need to compete more fiercely for (so, more motivation to expand budget, create even more laws)?

Just a guess...

345 Steyn: At that housewarming party in New York at the Navarro Hotel, the Loessers introduced "Baby, It's Cold Outside" to their friends. As Lynn Loesser recalled:
Well, the room just fell apart. I don't think either of us realized the impact of what we'd sung. We had to do it over and over again and we became instant parlor room stars. We got invited to all the best parties for years on the basis of 'Baby'. It was our ticket to caviar and truffles. Parties were built around our being the closing act.
As Richard Adler, Frank's protégé, once told me, Lynn Loesser was a domineering woman. She was known around town, somewhat inevitably, as "the evil of the two Loessers"
