Think more significantly, Obama's WH press office called and berated journalists all the damn time, not just threatening to turn off access to the offending reporter, but to their publication. That came out every now and then but the MSM covered it up for the most part -- in order to not jeopardize their access. It worked.
The other significant press restriction by Obama was often shutting press photographers from events, then releasing official WH photos for the press to use. At least that one got some public complaints. And yet - and yet!! -- no one was screeching about a Constitutional crisis - war on journalism - OMG, he's putting targets on us, you guyz!! True story.. back in the mid 70's, I did a lot of one-man gigs in bars and restaurants.. and for a while I was without a car and would be waiting for a bus at 1 am.. south side of Chicago.. so things are not exactly dead at 1 am anywhere in the city.. but still creepy.
A guy looking a lot like Gacy offered me a ride one night.. I refused.. he said he liked guys.. I really refused! When I got off the bus 4 miles later, there he was! I had a very nervous 3 block walk from the bus stop to home.. I bought a $100 beater very soon after! Now.. I have no idea if it was really Gacy.. but creepy story nonetheless. Posted by: Chi-Town Jerry at November 19, 2018 11:37 AM (so+oy) 35
IIRC, this was taken at a Rotarian event (Gacy was a highly respected and high-level Rotarian) at which there was a meet-and-greet with the First Lady.
And, IIRC (too lazy to run it down), Gacy had already committed one or two murders by this time. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at November 19, 2018 11:37 AM (kqsXK) 36
Willowed:
What William Goldman did better than anybody was give us The One Line That Changes Everything. Example: In Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid has Etta Place at gunpoint, forcing her to strip. We think we're about to watch a rape here. Suddenly Etta whispers, "Just once I wish you'd be on time!" And without any more explanation than that, everything has changed from Rape to Consensual Game-Playing Sex. He used it in his novels and his screenplays both. Never did he overdo it; the two times he used it in Marathon Man were perfect. But it was a kind of trademark. I need to reread his novel Boys and Girls Together. Nearly 40 news organizations have accused the Obama administration of improperly controlling images of the president by limiting the access granted to independent photojournalists while allowing free rein by the White House's own photographers. In a letter and a meeting last week, the news outlets and journalism groups complained to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney about the practice, saying the White House has prevented an unvarnished view of government business, while encouraging officially sanctioned competition for private news organizations. Did they sue Obama over this? Of course not, just a lame boycott of WH pics. https://tinyurl.com/yapsjhbd Posted by: Lizzy at November 19, 2018 11:41 AM (W+vEI) 58

Under US federal laws, the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation ("BHCCF") must file a complete, truthful report on IRS Form 990 by the close of business on November 15, 2018 concerning its operations and financial results for 2017. This is the final filing deadline and no extensions are possible.
In addition, BHCCF must file reports with numerous states by 15 November 2018. Many of these states impose tough filing requirements - one example is New York State, which, effectively, is the base from which BHCCF's global network of purported charities is run. Posted by: Nevergiveup at November 19, 2018 11:59 AM (bim/x) This began when Trump obeyed the judge's order regarding DACA. The answer to a Judicial Branch over-stepping the powers of the Executive is NOT to go seeking relief higher up the Judiciary. So - of course - Dems saw this and used their opportunity to seek more and more injunctions from a friendly branch that they still own - regardless of the nine at the top. Which got us to Acosta. Trump's last chance to say No to an overzealous Judicial Branch. Also - his clearest case, over a trivial matter, and greatest opportunity to simply refuse ... and by refusing, set his personal precedent to start refusing on bigger and bigger topics. Trump folded. Why ? I don't know. But it was a bigly mistake. Probably fatal. Dems should finish him now. Lawfare everything and reduce him to nothing more than a Weak Horse. Many years ago, when I was an active alcoholic on my way down the spiral, I ended up sharing a jail cell with soon-to-be convicted murderer Kelly McGuiness, who had murdered his wife's divorce lawyer & then made an attempt on his own attorney. When I was in college I rented a room in a condo. The owner's kid had another room in the condo. One day some guy showed up and crashed on the couch for a while. He was from a family who were friends with the owner. I didn't like him. While he was still there, I found out he was hiding from some drug charges. Now I really didn't like him. He was there for a few months, didn't pay rent, then one day he was gone. A few months later he had a schizophrenic break and killed his Mom and sister's best friend with a knife. They found him covered in blood, wrapped in an American flag, going on and on about everyone being against him. His parents had been trying to get him involuntarily committed because he was refusing to take his meds and he was known to be violent off his meds. - There was a heartbreaking show on ID a few days ago. A doctor murdered his wife, buried her in the basement, and covered her with a concrete floor and carpeting. At trial he claimed that the last he saw of her, she stormed out of the house and got into some car driven by some random guy. I guess Rando snuck back into the house, jack hammered the basement floor, buried her, and remodeled. (The heartbreaking part was the effect on his then 11 year old son, now about 40. They learned nothing from the "Shy Trump Voter" phenomenon or, more importantly, from its manifestation. If the Shy Trumpster is a congregant, the voting-booth is a sanctuary. One has to patiently endure years of advertised idiocy, but the one time you can fight back--joyfully, thoroughly, anonymously--is in the verdict-rendering five minutes of privacy in the polling place. Public guilting is temporarily escaped there, and is punished there; why they seem not to understand this is puzzling. Posted by: Zod at November 19, 2018 12:28 PM (Bdeb0) 260

There was a heartbreaking show on ID a few days ago. A doctor murdered his wife, buried her in the basement, and covered her with a concrete floor and carpeting. At trial he claimed that the last he saw of her, she stormed out of the house and got into some car driven by some random guy. In high school, had a friend whose older brother was three years ahead of us.
He apparently moved to California and married a woman over 10 years his senior. When he was mid-40's and she near 60's sounds like maybe they were going to separate, and she was going to cut him out of all her money. I'm pretty grey on even those details, but end result was him murdering her, her sister, her mom (murdered in a nursing home) and then shooting himself, also in the nursing home. Colin McGrattan. would have to go back and check, but I don't believe Gacy ever threw any bodies in any rivers. Wayne Williams did, but I don't recall Gacy ever having done so. And yeah, the crawl space was ripe. Got to the point where he was stacking them. ____________________ Gacy did throw some bodies in the Des Plaines River. He started doing that at the end, after he'd filled up all the ditches he had dug (or had his employees dig, some of whom ended up there too) in the spaces under his house. He covered up the bodies with lime, dirt, sometimes concrete. He also stuffed clothes or underwear or other material into their mouths, to soak up what he called "leakage." He told the cops he had considered hiding bodies in his attic after the crawl spaces were filled, but thought there would be too much "leakage." There was a kid from elementary school who was "off". Not enough to be truly disruptive, but all the kids knew something wasn't quite right; he was just a little creepy, and he was avoided for the most part. Circa early college a local woman disappeared from a nightclub on a cold winter night. Months later they found her bones scattered on a golf course. In my courier days, I delivered a package (just a flat letter, like a FedEx letter now) to "Carlos Marcello," at his place of business on Airline Highway: a game machine business. The receptionist unlocked the door for me, signed for the package, and relocked the door as I left. This was sometime in the early '80s, '80 to maybe '85. No idea if CM was even in the country then. I went to school with a kid and played football with him. His dad was our coach (elementary school) and was an alcoholic.
I moved away and heard that he was dating a girl we went to school with and was in the U of Illinois. She dumped him because he was possessive and overbearing. He went to her house when she was home for a break and stabbed her mother, father and her 16 or so times before she made it to the street screaming. He disappeared from there in his dad's truck. Contrary to the Hollywood stereotype, not all serial killers were solitary nutjobs ranting and playing mental games. Most of the long-term serial killers were good at concealing their inner demon. They were witty, charming, nice guys and sometimes family men. Except for the times when their urge to desecrate and destroy took them and they went out to hunt... Catching them took years, decades, and they were sometimes exposed by accident.

The receptionist unlocked the door for me, signed for the package, and relocked the door as I left. This was sometime in the early '80s, '80 to maybe '85. No idea if CM was even in the country then. I remember a case a long time ago where a prof at a medical school needed to go into New York City for some reason, and the school asked him if he'd pick up some specimens while he was there. Sure, no problem. He left the box in his car while he was taking care of other business and when he came back, it had been stolen. Fortunately, the police found the box full of human heads sitting on the sidewalk a short distance away. I imagine the thief got quite a surprise when he inspected his haul. I think they are in another category, but there was at least one one who was known as The Iceman. He operated as a hitman with (Roy?) De Meo in the 80's, and was off the charts, way beyond simply taking care of mob business. There is a very good movie about him and good book by the same name, and a prison interview with the killer on true crime channels from time to time. Ted Kuklinski or something along those lines. Reportedly he would tie people who someone wanted to die a difficult death up in a rat infested cave in upstate NJ, rub their bodies with provolone, set up a movie camera, and leave them for a couple of weeks. The fllm was made available to his clients for verification. Never was sure of that part was true or just more of his fevered imagination, but either way, the stuff of nightmares. Carter's niece Jana Carter, Billy's middle daughter, later graduated from Berkeley and is married (at last check) to Van Jones, the CNN commentator and former Obama White House figure. ---------- Why not? I mean Amy palled around with Abbie Hoffman. Got thrown out of Brown. More: "In September 1996, Carter married computer consultant James Gregory Wentzel, whom she had met while attending Tulane. Carter chose not to be given away, stating that she "belonged to no one". Carter kept her own family name and the couple moved to the Atlanta area, where they continue to live and focus on raising their son, Hugo James Wentzel (born July 29, 1999). In Atlanta, Hugo attended Paideia.[4][not in citation given] Since the late 1990s, Carter has maintained a low profile, neither participating in public protests nor granting interviews. She is a member of the board of counselors of the Carter Center that advocates human rights and diplomacy as established by her father.[9] Carter illustrated her father's book for children The Little Baby Snoogle-Fleejer (1996)." I recall seeing a true crime show about a serial killer in Indiana who was the owner of a large chain of supermarkets, was very wealthy, and would cruise the gay bars in Indianapolis to bring guys back to his beautiful mansion and kill them.
Posted by: josephistan at November 19, 2018 12:54 PM (7HtZB) That was Herb Baumeister. He would encourage his wife to go on trips with the children & then frequent gay bars, spend a lot of money, bring men home, and murder them. He's been linked to earlier murders in the 80's, earning him the nickname of I-70 killer. My former brother-in-law was part of the gay bar scene in Indy when Baumeister was hunting victims. The gay community was enormously frustrated with the police at the time because they felt the cops were ignoring the disappearances. The problem was there were no bodies. Baumeister was burning them in the woods on his property. Baumeister kept killing until a victim managed to escape. Posted by: troyriser at November 19, 2018 01:38 PM (1JpTT) 540
