In an earlier thread, I craftily tricked the cucks on this blog into admitting they liked musicals. Musicals! All I had to say was "I liked Little Shop of Horrors" and all the cucks decloaked. They like following the strong leadership of a clearly more masculine male, such as myself. You can now make fun of these simpering soybeans and ostracize them for admitting their weakness and love of soy-based entertainments. You should maybe call their bosses and get them fired for permitting other men such wicked license with their wives. I, of course, was lying the whole time. I don't even like music all that much, to be honest, except maybe the drums, which isn't cucky because it's hitting things with sticks. The only music I could really get into would be some kind of rhythmic arrangement of bullets hitting tank armor with occasional sounds of axes chopping into oaks and boarskulls. And to be honest, I don't really need the rhythm. Rhythm is for weaklings and betas who need the stricture of a time signature to order their useless moments, like a milk-sop little boy needs his mommy to tell him when it's time to make a sitting pee-pee. I'm very disappointed with some of you outrageous-camp joyboys. To think that this blog would one day be a den of iniquity where "men" talked about their "passion" for "music" and "singing." (In other words, if you want to continue talking about music, here's a thread where you can do that. Cucks.)Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)Posted by: WitchDoktor, AKA VA GOP Sucks at November 16, 2018 08:23 PM (Uiz/V) 2

The Little Mermaid song "Part of Your World" was such a note-for-note rip-off of Little Shop of Horrors' "Somewhere That's Green", that crew-members on Little Mermaid took to referring to the song as "Somewhere That's Wet".

Speaking of music -- I saw the little-seen original Star Trek episode "The Conscience of the King" last night. In an early scene, Kirk goes to an intergalactic cocktail party, and in the background (I had never noticed this before) a spacey 1950s lounge-jazz group is playing the Start Trek Theme itself, as if it had become a "jazz standard" in the future. Freaky self-referential gag!

Musicals would be better without all of the abject faggotry. Which believe it or not, is a relatively new thing. I remember seeing Les Miserables back in the 80's and 90's. Great musical about revolution, love, and sacrifice. It was played very straight.
Fast forward to a 2010 production... everything and everyone is now gay. The Red and Black song takes place in a French Revolutionary bath-house, it would seem, because everyone is singing about or trying to grab everyone else's dick. What happened? And this was the National Tour cast, not some local production. And every musical I've seen since has had that same level of barely-contained homo-eroticism, regardless of subject matter. Here's the thing:
I was sitting in some random repertory theater when I was a teenager, and it was showing an all-night special of "forgotten musical movies" or something, and at about 3am the movie came on and it was unexpectedly REALLY FREAKIN' GOOD. That is to say, the music was very catchy. I forgot about it for a long time, until fairly recently, and since then I've tried to research it online -- AND THE MOVIE DOES NOT EXIST! At least I can find no reference to it anywhere. So I'll post this here if anyone has seen the film and/or knows its actual name. The movie was called (or at least I thought it was called) "Catch a Rising Star" or something similar to that, and (from what I could tell) was made (and was set in) the late 1970s. The plot was pretty cliche -- a boy wants to start a power-pop/glam/heavy-rock band, but faces all sorts of obstacles; along the way, he (and his band) performs their various songs. And DAMN, they were like the best band ever! For real. I think it was some kind of vanity-project movie made by a guy who wanted to give his as-yet unsigned band publicity. But the movie probably was never picked up for distribution, so never really showed anywhere. The musical style of the band was sort of a cross between T. Rex, the Raspberries, The Partridge Family, Sweet, Gary Wright and Foreigner. All mashed up into a mid-late '70s power-pop glam-rock crooner kinda style. Anyone have any memory of this? Movie experiences: I was about 11 years old when the first Star Wars came out. It had been out for a few weeks and was a HUGE phenomenon (not initially expected to be a big hit). My dad went and bought tickets in advance, which didn't happen that often back then, and took me and my sister. There were already people who had seen it multiple times.
Packed theater, great experience. After the climax scene blowing up the Death Star, the entire theater gave a standing ovation. Never seen anything like it, and probably never will again. Posted by: ghost of hallelujah at November 16, 2018 09:10 PM (oAY8z) 326

I could never have imagined that rock music would have peaked then -- and that anything remotely resembling the shiite that has been popular music the past three decades or so would have ever been produced or had a market. "1776" is a musical about the American Revolution but I've never been able top bring myself to watch it. Does anybody have a review? Posted by: Mark1971 at November 16, 2018 08:45 PM (xPl2J) It's good. The songs in it are an extension or compliment to the dialog, for instance the one about who'll write the Declaration of Independence, the one about the play on Richard Henry Lee's last name, and which animal would best represent the new nation.I watch it every 4th of July, just 'cause there aren't many movies made about that period. (There is the made for tv George Washington crossing the Delaware on Christmas to kill your sleep movie but that's not a musical.) Posted by: Dusty at November 16, 2018 10:06 PM (NgvOp) 607
1776 is very, very anachronistic. The idea that the Founding Fathers were "Cool, Conservative Men", e.g., is belied by the fact that they were effin' revolutionaries. That said, it's still pretty fun.

I have a pic of Ace sneaking into Mama Mia -The Movie sing-along version. It is like getting a pic of Big Foot in his natural environment.
(Ace's post is a "me thinkest the man protest too much.") Also, smile worthy. There is a rumor Ace also dresses up for the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" events. I'll let you guess which character he dresses up like. (Sooo bummed I missed all these musical threads!)
