Trump May Replace Kirstjen Nielsen With Someone Whose Name I Don't Have to Look Up the Spelling of Every Time a Tough-on-Crime Border-Enforcer Who Once Called for Sanctuary Cities Officials to be Charged With Crimes

Michael Walsh at PJMedia excerpts this from Politico:

Tapping Homan to run the Department of Homeland Security would almost certainly energize Trump’s base. The tough-talking lawman once recommended charging so-called sanctuary city politicians "with crimes" and has pugnaciously defended even Trump's most controversial immigration moves, including separating children from their parents at the border.

"Trump wants John Wayne on the border and Tom Homan is John Wayne," said a former Homeland Security official, who cited Homan’s frequent, and often fiery appearances on cable news as a part of his resume that Trump would especially like.

He once served as acting head of ICE, so Democrats will love him.

The problem, though, will be Senate confirmation -- I'm not sure if we're gonna come out of this with enough senators to beat the Margin of Cuck.

The problem with the midterms was that HE wasn't on the ballot. There were a ton of do-nothing GOP squishes out there who got outspent and out-hustled.

The GOP has two years to regroup and rebuild. The plus side of this is should Trump win, his second term will be almost like a first term in what he can accomplish.

Plus the Dems will spend the next to years passing House resolutions condemning the National Anthem and banning Santa Claus. It will be glorious.

Flood the new country with foreign aid money.

Allow me to introduce you to the "independent voter." They don't follow politics closely because it pisses them off. They don't watch cable TV or live on the internet.

In short, they have a life.

So when campaign time comes around, they look at who is running, what they have to offer, and then they vote as seems best to them.

If the sitting US Senator actually answers their phone calls, shows up at town meetings and generally seems decent, they'll look past the voting record because he solved the problem with Grandma and Medicaid.

It's politics 101 and a lot of TrueCons don't get that. You can waive your ideological purity all over the place, but your personality pisses people off and so they vote for the other one, because: Not A Dick.

McSally was the brainchild of McConnell and Rove. I don't doubt that McCain was in support of her candidacy as well. But, simply put, McConnell threw money at her when she was challenging real Conservatives in the primary. Those real Conservatives cancelled each other out. And, McSally was lying her ass off stating that she was tough on immigration as well as supporting Trump's agenda. In truth, she was on record prior to that with opinions to the contrary.

She as in line to be another disappointment. And, to be honest, I'm glad the GOP Inc. took it on the chin. They lost what should have been one of the easiest races to win.

The temp filed a discrimination suit against us. He claimed that we had a history of hiring on temps as permanent employees, and the reason that he was not hired was on account of racism.

Out and out nuisance suit. Of course, management settled it for $25K. Turns out the guy and his lawyer had done this before. Surprise, surprise.

As for the question of secession, that isn't a legal question. If a state secedes, there's nothing prohibiting it from being promptly invaded or annexed, so the answer to the question is moot. Is it a civil war or an invasion? Really doesn't matter except to pedants. The question is which party can impose their will on the other. Might as well be appealing to international law.

The Constitution likewise does not hold actual force. It holds some authority over the question of legitimacy, but if a President were to declare himself king for life or try to mass confiscate guns, the only question that matters is whether people will accept it. The important of the Constitution is that it tells people that there are certain things that shall not be done. It encourages(but does not guarantee) rebellion if certain thresholds are reached. Its a tripwire in a sense, but not a very touchy one if one pays attention to how fragrantly it is frequently disregarded. Nevertheless, there is a certain degree of deference that must be afforded, even the Left, if one means to hold power.

For ages, the Left has talked about an organized militia as being the only interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. Given that we had an excellent example of a citizen militia conducting a war during Lincoln's and Sherman's reign of terror, the Left should have a problem with enterprising citizens razing the compound that Snipes has barricaded herself in to conduct her war against the US.

Brown was running ads against Renacci the day after Renecci won the primary. There were hardly any Renacci ads and he never made any case against Brown. Meanwhile Brown painted Renacci as corrupt and played up himself in his being against NAFTA. FWIW Piet Hein was a Danish mathematician. I bought a book of his poems at the Philadelphia Port Authority bus station, mumblety years ago.
