CNN Sues White House to Get Jim Accoster's Credentials Restored; Sarah Sanders Says Nah Brah

How could women (both real and pretend) feel safe around this toxic male?

Sarah Sanders called the move "more grandstanding from CNN."

@JenniferJJacobs
"Just more grandstanding from CNN, and we will vigorously defend against this lawsuit," @PressSec says. "CNN, who has nearly 50 additional hard pass holders, and Mr. Acosta is no more or less special than any other media outlet or reporter with respect to the 1st Amendment."

@JenniferJJacobs
"White House cannot run an orderly and fair press conference when a reporter acts this way, which is neither appropriate nor professional. The 1st Amendment is not served when a single reporter, of more than 150 present, attempts to monopolize the floor." -Sarah Huckabee Sanders

The judge assigned to this nuisance-suit isn't a liberal, which was CNN's only chance:

@chrisgeidner

Update: The CNN lawsuit against Trump has been assigned to Judge Timothy J. Kelly, a Trump appointee who was a former counsel to Chuck Grassley.

By the way: This AP story claims the gif of Acosta swiping away the woman's arm was "doctored," even though experts have debunked that. They'll lie and lie and lie to protect the Guild.

This video debunks another claim made in Accoster's defense: The bizarre claim that he did not push away the 105-pound young woman's arm, and maybe her arm just moved downwards on its own.

But if that were the case, why would Accoster's arm move downward with it? Was his arm magnetically attached to hers so that when her arm moved own, his arm moved down in sync with it?

More: Jim Accoster is a whiny little bitch.

But seriously, the Fields/Lewandowski thing wasn't some offhand moment in the primary that the NeverTrumpers whined about. For many, and especially with Shapiro, it was a defining moment when Trump was seen as a thug and a horrible man that must be opposed on all fronts.

So this switch in stance of yanking and jostling reporters about is...odd. Considering it was a major plank of the NeverTrump/AlwaysCuck movement.

146 Dead serious when I say this: If the CNNNN guy and the intern were a couple, and she was seeking an order of protection against him, for this one action, a judge would likely grant the order.

Not even a remote exaggeration. Ask the dames who run domestic violence programs. They'll tell you, because they see these cases over and over and over again. The guy says he took her cell phone away from her, and when she went to try to get it back from him, he pushed her arm away.

That's enough to get you "convicted."

Yeah, I'll modify my attempt at pithy to go into just a bit more detail:

The two main gladiator fights (the one you describe, and the Battle of Carthage) are great, but they amount to about 15 minutes of a two-hour movie where the rest of it is just so deathly serious that I just can't get into the movie as a whole.

Well movies, and what moves a person, are subjective.

It isn't a 'happy' movie. It's not Ben Hur. The 'happy ending' for Maximus is avenging his wife and then dying and going to see her again. That's why the Lisa Gerrard soundtrack works so well for the flick.

But along the way you get Oliver Reed's last role, you get brotherhood, you get Richard Harris's Marcus Aurelius, you get scene-chewing villany, and an amazing CGI recreation of Imperial Rome. Fine stuff to me. Not flawless, not by a long shot. But fine cinema.

392 Nationalism is people of every different race and religion united in one nation they love. It is as appropriate as families are. Do you parents want to live in a commune where your beliefs, traditions, child rearing styles, and family history become a generic meaningless blend of 29, 000 other families? Of course not. You value your family roots and traditions and history and you do it without devaluing anyone elses.

If you thought Nationalism had anything to do with white supremacy or hate its time to walk away from the mainstream news and dunk your head in a vat of dumbass remover.

p.s. for Pete's sake, study American history and learn why there is so much to protect and be proud of here. Enjoy your life here. Or continue to walk around an amazing country being outraged with every damn thing it does but being unable to articulate why (in which case, please refer to vat mention in paragraph 2).

Carry on.

The anger comes from the idea that Verhoeven thought the book was fascist, so he made an anti-fascist movie in response.

The irony is, the book actually is anti-fascist, so you have two anti-fascist works on the same material coming from very different places.

Also, the movie doesn't have the power suits, which people have a shocking emotional attachment to.

Trump answered Acosta's question, but then Acosta challenged Trump and started speechifying about why the "hard-working, job-seeking, innocent migrants" are not invaders, but just "poor, victimized migrants looking for a break."

Trump had every right to cut him off. If Acosta wants to debate Trump, let him throw his hat in the 2020 ring and become a candidate. Meanwhile, he's supposed to be a journalist asking questions, not a politician trying to prove he's better than Trump.

The problem is movies from 5 years ago are now forbidden, sinful topics which are heresy to like. That's how fast popular culture is corrupting.

500 392 Nationalism is people of every different race and religion united in one nation they love.

Carry on.

If I remember correctly, they all still think that it's a simulation in the movie.

The problem is probably related to the presentation of the simulation. Realistic looking ships fighting other realistic looking ships that undermine the idea that it's just a game.

I do think that that pulls against the film, but that it still works.

584 Plenty of room to explore Ender's growth in a book. Different medium, different approach. There's also the opportunity to get visibility into Ender's inner voice.

In a film, it's more "show" and not "tell." Very difficult to convey that growth in a way that doesn't lose the audience. In practical terms, you have two hours of visuals and dialogue.

On film it runs the risk of being very repetitive. Much more efficient to show it as it was in the movie, and let the audience fill in the blanks. Especially since the stage was set in the first part of the movie with Ender explaining why he beat the hell out of the bully...you know his mindset, you see it applied, and the audience is given enough to go from A to B.

590 What could match that payoff? How could it come as a surprise again?

It lost some in that Ender wasn't as brutal as he was in the books, and the training wasn't as cruel. Obviously they couldn't have nakey kids floating around in 0 G and I'm glad they left out that terrible "smart kids on the internet save the world" crap as well as the awful religion stuff at the end. But it was disappointing.

Along the lines of spoiled surprises, I got a cheap copy of Stunt Man (with Peter O'Toole, Steve Railsback, and Barbara Hershey). That movie completely blew my mind in the 1980s because its never what you expect and there are so many tricks and deceptive shots etc.

It holds up well but the surprises are all gone, so I knew what was coming, and it was a lot less powerful. O'Toole is magnificent as the brilliant, manipulative, soulless director and Railsback was a lot better than I remembered. Hershey is awful, she's a terrible actress.

But seriously, "A Night to Remember' has more impact than this. Likewise, The George Pal version of War of the Worlds affects me more than Independence Day, or the Spielberg.Tom Cruise version of War of the Worlds. I will admit that the scene where clothing descends to earth in the wake of the Martian walkers was a good horrific touch; it implied the horror without gratuitous imagery.

606 597 It's a special effects superhero movie, but it also did something fairly rare: it has a villain as the movie's protagonist.

What should have been done for Fantastic Four 2, instead of... whatever the hell that space cloud crap was. Doom is a fascinating character, done right, and true to the original material. He can hold a movie and make it great. But no.

Nonsense. It has reversals, it moves fast, it provides a very real threat for the Avengers, one that actually overcomes them in the end.

And giving the audience the characters they love should be lauded, not marked against it.

The sheer size and complexity of the task before them is daunting. Then add in a villain and his sidekicks, most of whom have more personality and distinctiveness themselves to overshadow main characters is lesser films. (I liked Ebony Maw and the lizard man particularly)
